It's only a matter of time before petrol will sell for under a hundred naira, subsidy regime is fraught with fraud, it only made the rich richer. If we can patiently forbear, I can see light at the end of the tunnel. God bless Nigeria. |

The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) has announced that it would begin to confiscate vehicles with expired or substandard tyres. According to Boboye Oyeyemi, the Corps Marshal of the agency, the measure became necessary to curb incessant road accidents usually caused by poor tyre usage in vehicles. “What we’re going to commence immediately is that any vehicle that has expired tyres or substandard tyres, we’re going to impound the vehicles,” Mr. Oyeyemi said. “Enough is enough to this. All the crises we’re talking about from February this year to April, they were all tyre-related. “After impounding it (the vehicle), we’ll ask the owner to go and replace it with a genuine one. The passengers we’ll arrange for their continuous journey so as to reduce the pains. But I will not allow an expired tyre fitted on a vehicle to continue the journey,” Mr. Oyeyemi said. He also decried the lack of tyre manufacturing companies in the country and appealed to appropriate authorities to do their utmost best in ensuring that the situation is addressed. “It’s not a problem that started today, we’ve been raising this alarm since Dunlop and Michelin shut down in Nigeria and relocated,” the FRSC boss said. “So it’s a result of this that led to over 250 different distorted substandard tyres in the country today and we appeal to Manufacturers Association of Nigeria and Nigerian Association of Chamber of Commerce Industry Mines and Agriculture to do their very best in looking into this and see how tyre manufacturing plants can be brought into life. He spoke at a Stakeholders' forum in Abuja. http://www.nigerianbulletin.com/threads/nigeria-frsc-to-start-seizing-vehicles-with-expired-tyres.211588/ |

The police, on Thursday, said it would compel officers and men of the force, who damaged patrol vehicles through reckless driving to pay for the damage. The Zone 2 police spokesman, CSP Adebowale Lawal, made this disclosure in a chat with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos. Lawal said that the directive was issued by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of the zone, comprising of Lagos and Ogun State Commands, Mr Bala Hassan. He said that the warning became necessary in view of the rickety condition of such vehicles shortly after allocation for patrol duties. The police spokesman said that henceforth, police officers and men would be sanctioned for willful and reckless damage to patrol vehicles under their care. “All erring drivers and patrol team leaders who are found to have willfully and recklessly damaged vehicles will be sanctioned and made to pay for the damage to government property. “If you destroy or damage any vehicle, you will be sanctioned and made to pay for it accordingly,” Lawal said. According to him, most vehicles recently donated to the police by State Governments and corporate bodies, undergo comprehensive maintenance every six months to ensure their road worthiness. He said that the AIG had therefore directed that drivers and team leaders would be held responsible for any breach of the safety and care of patrol vehicles. http://dailypost.ng/2016/05/05/police-drivers-to-pay-for-damage-of-patrol-vehicles/?utm_source=dlvr.it_dp1&utm_medium=facebook |

I do not believe this. But assuming it is true, then I blame the man. I have always advised men who are not emotionally balanced never to marry celebrity ladies. It will surely backfire in the long run. Many high class women of fame hardly make stable homes because of career vulnerability. So a man who wants a simple home must be careful in choosing the right one. This problem is not restricted to naija, it is a global one. Nearly 76% of actors, actresses and musicians battle with the issues of divorce, unfaithfulness, adultery, bisexualism, arrogance, anger and drugs. And it will continue to be so because the demon of entertainment requires these sacrifices to get her worshippers initiated to the cult of celebrity. So if you want to marry a celebrity you better check your inner man to see if you can stomach the heat that goes with it. |
