The Nigerian Army wishes to regrettably inform the public that Colonel Samaila Inusa who was kidnapped on Sunday 27th March 2016, was found dead today at about 6.00pm. Preliminary investigation revealed that most likely the late senior officer was killed same day he was kidnapped by his abductors. This is because the body was found already decomposing around Ajyaita village off Eastern Bypass Kaduna, Kaduna State. Arrangements are in progress to move the body to 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital, Kaduna. May His soul rest in peace, Amen. We wish to state in unmistakable terms that whoever is behind his abduction and murder would be fished out to face the full wrath of the law. @op. Nothing dey terrible for this matter o. I have a 90 year old man in my area who still performs excellently in bed with women. If Chief Iwuanyanwu can perform up till that age, the babe would have had her two kids home and dry. At that age, she would be like 43 with nothing to trouble her mind as per how to raise the kids and herself living a quality life. Don't be surprised if Iwuanyawu is still firing from all cylinders up till age 100. Lols. |
Adieu Papa Tunji Braithwaite. A man of many sides. In politics, he was something, in human right he was another, then in business, a different person entirely. All that has become history now. Only what he did while here will testify for him now henceforth. People are bound to see him in different perspectives, that's the hallmark of great men. |
•Nigeria must now beat Egypt to qualify Chad yesterday dampened Nigeria’s faint hope of qualifying for the Gabon 2017 African Nations Cup when it announced its withdrawal from the qualifying series. To that effect, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has subsequently cancelled all the matches played by the Chadians as well as the points from such games. Consequently, Nigeria, which beat the Chadians in their first game of the series, have forfeited the points from that game and therefore, have only two points from the draws from the games against Tanzania and Egypt. Egypt also lost the three points they got from their game against Chad, but they are on four points following their win against Tanzania and the draw they got in Kaduna on Friday. The development has effectively killed Nigeria’s chances of qualifying as one of the best second-placed teams as only three teams are participating in the qualifiers ion Group G. Announcing the cancellation of the points, ACF said in a statement yesterday that: “In conformity with Article 61 of the regulations of the competition which states: “If a team withdraws from the qualifying phase organised in groups, all its results shall be annulled (points, scored and conceded goals).” “Consequently, the three matches of Chad of Group G are cancelled and the results will not be taken into consideration. “Accordingly, following the decision of CAF Executive Committee dated January 15 2015, any group reduced to three teams following the withdrawal of a team will have only the group winner qualifying for the final tournament. “Furthermore, the Chadian Football Federation has been fined 20,000 US Dollars and also barred from participating in the next edition of the AFCON in conformity with Article 59 of the regulations of the Competition which states “any association declaring forfeit after the start of the matches is liable to a fine of twenty thousand (20,000) U.S. dollars. It will also not be allowed to participate in the next edition of the AFCON.” The implication is that Nigeria must beat Egypt in Alexandria tomorrow to retain any chance of making the Gabon 2017 African Nations Cup. http://m.guardian.ng/sport/chad-dampens-eagles-qualification-bid-as-caf-cancels-matches-points/ |
The presidency has said monies recovered from corrupt government officials and their accomplices cannot be made public now because they are to be used as evidence against the looters during prosecution. Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Media to the President, Malam Garba Shehu, who disclosed this to journalists in Abuja at the weekend said the recovered funds, which he noted was running into billions of naira, have been kept in a special account with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). Shehu said the delay in making public what has been recovered was engendered by the need to ensure that those who stole public funds are made to face the wrath of the law. His words: “On the issue of how much has been returned, let me state that the money so far retrieved is money to be used as evidence in court, and this is in line with the position of President Muhammadu Buhari who said two things; we will recover and we will prosecute. So as it is now, you don’t go and bring out all these millions returned. I am aware that there is an account in the CBN where some of these funds are being kept, but they are evidences for a judge to see, they are not for public display. I think that is the challenge we have at the moment.” Assuring Nigerians yearning for employment opportunities that the good times are around the corner with the passage of the budget, Shehu said Buhari-led administration was living up to its campaign promises to Nigerians. He disclosed that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo would soon begin a town hall meeting which would accord him the opportunity to educate Nigerians on the policies of the current administration. “I want to congratulate Nigerians for supporting the administration and especially, during the period most people consider to be a difficult one. A lot of people had expected jobs by way of key appointments in boards, ministries and the parastatals and so on, that have been held back by the fact that the president has promised a major restructuring of the executive arm of the government, including the reduction of ministries from 42 to about 24. That will not go without concomitant challenges on the existing parastatals and agencies of government, which obviously have to be modified to fit into the existing ministerial structure. “Also, I congratulate Nigerians on the achievements the President has recorded fighting Boko Haram terrorism. The military has said its technical victory. I think that as citizens of this country, we must be able to say something and defend that, this is well beyond technical victory; no city in the country is under curfew now, all military roadblocks have been removed except when they are necessitated by a crime situation and people are freely moving, and normal life is been restored to the Northeast geo- political zone.” http://m.guardian.ng/news/why-buhari-is-yet-to-disclose-recovered-loots-by-aide/ |

Balarabe Musa, Okukpe, Babatope, Ekungba differ The Presidency yesterday rose in stout defence of Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu who at the weekend came under scathing criticism by the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu over comments relating to the current fuel scarcity across the federation. Kachikwu, who is also the Group Managing Director (GMD) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), was reported to have said that he could not perform magic in solving the problem of fuel scarcity , a statement Tinubu considered insensitive and insulting to the sensibilities of Nigerians. But the Presidency yesterday rose in defence of Kachikwu , saying the minister was speaking the truth when he said that Nigerians would have to wait till May for the scarcity to go away. Presidential spokesman, Mr Femi Adesina on Channels Television programme: “Sunday Politics,” yesterday said the minister should not be crucified for telling Nigerians the truth. He pointed out that Nigerians were unhappy with the statement credited to the minister because they wanted him to perform magic which would make the commodity readily available in two weeks. Adesina, however, stressed that the truth which Nigerians should accept was that it would take weeks before the scarcity would go away. Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Public Petitions, Mr. Uzoma Nkem- Abonta has upbraided Tinubu for his criticism of Kachikwu over the handling of the energy crises in the polity. In an interview with The Guardian, Nkem -Abonta wondered why Tinubu chose to meddle in the affairs of the Petroleum Minister with a presidential mandate to fix the problem in the sector. The lawmaker who represents Ukwa East/West Federal Constituency of Abia State enjoined Tinubu not to reduce a sensitive issue relating to the management of the petroleum sector into an APC affair A member of the APC’s Board of Trustees (BOT) from the South West, Jamiu Afolabi Ekungba told The Guardian yesterday that the chastisement “shows that we are operating a progressive democratic government where what is important to everybody is that whatever any of the segments of government is doing is beneficial to everybody. It also shows that the APC is not a cult where things are done in secret while the country, like it was under the previous government, was being destroyed.” Also reacting, former governor of old Kaduna State, Alhaji Balarabe Musa, said: “From my understanding, Tinubu is a leader in the party and by that, he has every right to speak out if he discovered anything that may likely erode the credibility of the party before the electorate.” To erstwhile Minister of Transport and a member of the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT), Chief Ebenezer Babatope, “I am not bothered by whatever any of them says about the other. What is important is the fact that Nigerians are really suffering.” In his reaction, a chieftain of the APC in Ekiti State, Olusegun Osinkolu, praised Tinubu for the action, saying it was in the best interest of Nigerians and the APC-led government. Speaking in defence of Kachikwu, one-time Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Dr. Doyin Okupe, said Nigerians abhor the truth. Okupe on his Facebook account wrote: “The minister of State for Petroleum is a Nigerian I know by reputation only. When he was appointed I actually wondered why on earth will a man in his exalted international position and pedigree come into the murky arena of the Nigerian oil business. It can only be patriotism.” Toeing the same line, an APC chieftain, Osita Okechukwu, while conceding that Tinubu had the constitutional right to criticise, however, added that the South East zone of the party did not subscribe to the call for his resignation. Speaking in the same vein, the vice chairman, South-South of the PDP, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, said no one should castigate the minister of state because he had only exhibited courage in telling Nigerians the truth. http://m.guardian.ng/news/presidency-counters-tinubu-on-kachikwu-fuel-scarcity/ |
The Nigerian Army has confirmed the kidnap of one of its senior officers, Col. Smaila Inusa, by unknown gunmen in Kaduna State on Saturday night. Speaking to THISDAY, a reliable intelligence officer quoting a Presidential source, expressed concern that the kidnap might be a revenge mission by the Shiite Islamic sect against the Army over the clash in Zaria last year. The source however assured that security and intelligence agencies are being mobilised to rescue the missing officer. The Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Usman Abdul, who had confirmed the development in a statement on Sunday, said that Inusa is serving with Nigeria Army School of Infantry, Jaji, Kaduna State. Abdul stated that the colonel was abducted around Kamazo near NNPC junction, Kaduna, around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. “The abductors dropped off his wife and left with him in his car and headed towards Abuja. They drove in a Mercedes Benz GK black colour with registration number Abuja, KUJ 154 TZ,” the statement read. http://sunnewsonline.com/presidency-suspects-army-colonels-kidnap-likely-shiites-revenge/ |

10,000 pensionable jobs up for grabs in the next couple of weeks. N350b to be injected into the economy within the next 3 months, mostly to finance capital projects. About $200b, that is about N40tr the equivalent of about 8 years national budget; being stolen funds by corrupt government official to be returned back to government coffers soon. When I think of these and many more , I just can not but give thanks to God Almighty that I was part of those that voted PMB to power. |
