Currency Deal With China To Crash The Dollar By 70% !

President Buhari doesn't have certificate but he sure knows how to make things happen and do what some heroes with unproven Ph.D. can't even dream of...

1.As President Buhari and CBN Governor, Emefiele moved closer to actualizing their promise to strengthen the naira against the US dollars

2.By signing a landmark currency deal with the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Ltd on Tuesday in Beijing, China.

3. The agreement will allow Nigerian who imports mainly from China conclude their transactions in the Chinese currency instead of the dollar

4. The new agreement would see Nigeria-China trades, which accounts for over 70 percent of imports into Nigeria, concluded in the Yuan.

5. Until now over 90% of int'l trades between Nigeria & the world is done in dollars, & in the process putting so much pressure on the naira

6. Nigeria imports almost all it needs from the West, Middle East and Asia.

7. The CBN is expected to diversify a huge chunk of Nigeria’s foreign reserve from the dollars to the Yuan to perfect the agreement.

8. “It means that the renminbi (Yuan) is free to flow among diff banks in Nigeria, & the renminbi has been included in the FXR of Nigeria,”

9. FXR means foreign exchange reserves

10. Lin Songtian, director general of the African affairs department of China’s foreign ministry, told reporters in Beijing ...

11. .. a few minutes after the agreement was signed between the Governors of the nations’ reserve banks..

12. in the presence of President Buhari & President Xi Jingping of China, who is hosting Buhari and top Nigerian officials to a state visit.

13. Lin said a framework on currency swaps has been agreed with Nigeria, making it easier to settle trade deals in Yuan.

14. China has signed currency swap deals with countries ranging from Kazakhstan to Argentina as it promotes wider use of its Yuan.

15. Nigeria would become the clearinghouse for Yuan denominated transactions for the whole of Africa following the agreement.

16. Beijing also signed agreements to develop infrastructure in Nigeria, part of a drive to deepen its ties with Africa.

17. It has offered Nigeria a loan worth $6 billion to fund infrastructure projects.

18. Also, ICBC signed a $2 billion loan deal with Dangote group, to fund two cement plants it plans to build, Lin told Reuters.

19. China’s official Xinhua news agency cited President Xi as telling Buhari that there was huge potential for economic cooperation, naming

20. Naming oil, refining and mining..

21. Nigeria is also considering issuing Panda bonds (mainly Yuan denominated) as against euro bonds because they are cheaper.

This is good, better days are ahead, I'm sooo happy and hopeful right now. Nigeria shall be great again!

#MyNetherlandExperience

Recently I got my very first taste of what it meant to be black and worst off a Nigerian just as I hit Frankfort.

Let me start well though, at least with the things that impressed me; the airline @FlyLufthansa. This is a self sponsored trip so I'm not going to come here and lie to you that I could afford a business class or first class ticket. You wont get any of those fake stories here. I am going to tell you as it is so you can have the honest picture of things. I could only afford economy but on Lufthansa, that could have as well been business class on some other airline

The seats had good leg room, (satisfactory for my very long legs lol). The in-flight entertainment, superb and though the food was a bit bland in taste for my spicy African palate, it was well presented and the crew was as professional as can be, smiling and refilling cups. I don't know what the higher class got but it was really good in my economy class.

Sadly the great experience ended immediately I hit Frankfort airport.

First at the security check, I was the only black person on the queue and that immediately warranted me a more thorough search. I was the only one asked to remove my shoes, checked into a cubicle and body searched by a male police officer (this is after I had had the general security check). Somehow I didn't feel so demeaned, I knew being Nigerian had become a really bad thing abroad, almost as bad as being a terrorist.

Frankfurt airport is so damn big and could have been confusing if I weren't observant. In fact got lost a couple of times but always found my way back. I got into an elevator with a guy who I later discovered was Nigerian. We got in with some white girls and they refused to even look at us. They giggled among themselves and still wudnt look at us. At one point one even shifted so sharply when the Nigerian guy accidentally touched her an of course they literally raced off as the elevator door opened.

I had never experienced that before. This really is my first up-in-your face experience of racial discrimination. I was so appalled I think it affected me cos I spoke to no one again till I made it to my gate. When a white man seated saw me approaching to sit, he placed his jacket on the seat so I wudnt sit. Didn't care much though. I later realised this gate was for passengers proceeding to Hamburg.

Found my gate and it turned out the Nigerian guy I met at the elevator was also going to Amsterdam. When I told him what I observed, he laughed and told me that was so little compared to what black people really face in Europe when it comes to discrimination.

Well we boarded a more crowded and more Nigerian styled "little-legroom" A319 flight to Amsterdam.

At schiphol, I still had the Frankfort experience in me so spoke to no one. But I quickly realized I was the only one "boning" cos these people were shockingly pleasant. At Burger King, when I went for food (superb chicken wings and onion rings) the Young male attendant was so nice, I was pleasantly surprised. The taxi driver was talkative and so damn friendly. From then on was pretty pleasant

Thoughts

It's too early for conclusions but I can tell people in Netherlands are definitely nicer than Germans.

If racism is so thick in Europe why do we Nigerians so hurry to leave and be treated so poorly here.

If you still want to know why we support General Buhari here is the main reason.

Our friends and families in the North East were living in fear and terror for four years. Their markets and sources of living were destroyed by the insurgency. They couldn't go to their farms or markets, and they couldn't even pray in peace. The government did little to help them.

The security situation under Buhari has remarkably improved. Boko Haram is no longer capturing villages and towns. People are now living in relative peace. People are returning to their towns and villages. The military and our security agencies are doing their best.

Many of us supported him because we knew he would address the problem of insecurity. He did. And we are grateful. We hope the government will support the reconstruction of the communities and infrastructure destroyed by Boko Haram.

The problems many Nigerians are now complaining about, such as fuel scarcity and lack of electricity, are things very common in the North East for many years.

We will continue to support him so that he can fulfill the other promises he made of improving the economy, creating jobs, and fighting corruption.

We will tell him when things are not going well in other sectors. But we have NO REGRETS for supporting Buhari.

The moment Nigerians slumber and take for granted the character of Bukola Saraki, the nation may be doomed for it. There is no worst Nigerian elite corrupt criminal than Bukola Saraki. First, he hid the budget to say it was missing, later the lost but found budget was roguely padded to favour their criminal interest having realised President Buhari wasn't going to allow them rip Nigerians off through dubious constituency projects anymore and now, having failed in all those, the one and only criminal Saraki has just invented another criminal tactics, what I can describe as "budget lifting". Just like how shoplifting is a crime, that has been rebranded and introduced to our budget system - removing one project and diverting the proposed expenditure to another uncontemplated and unplanned projects. The intention is to connive with some rogues in the ministries to phantom the projects and siphon the money. However that we have the calibre of Buhari as our president as well as now better informed Nigerians, this is not enough unless we take peculiar step to stem the growth of this cancer.

I want to use this opportunity to call on all Nigerians to rise against Bukola Saraki before the devil completely destroys our system. We have no other country than this, so this devil must be exorcised, decapitated and decimated before he sends the nation into irreparable destruction.

At this point, enough of any political diplomacy; Presidency should fight this alien like an act of war or else, should he have the upper hand, we may all be consumed. All of us will just wake up one morning to hear that Saraki and his co-criminals have impeached the President and the Vice-president. This is the time to act. No more "siddon look".

PoliticsFIRS Hires 5 Directors Secretly by olatade(op): 7:20am On Apr 11, 2016
The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) recruited five directors secretly at a time its revenue generation dropped by N2.17 trillion in 2015, investigation has shown.
The directors’ recruitment was not advertised to enable other eligible Nigerians to apply, an act which is in violation of the federal character principles, sources said.

The situation is now raising dust among staff at the revenue agency who are concerned about the consequences of such development.
President Muhammadu Buhari appointed Tunde Fowler as acting executive chairman of the FIRS in August 20, 2015.
Three of the new directors hail from the south-west region, the same zone as Fowler, the FIRS boss. The other two are from the north-central and north-east, while the north-west, south-east and south-south have none.
Sources within the agency told Daily Trust that there were plans to recruit about 200 more staff even though no advertisement has been made.
The newly appointed directors are: Sola Akingbade (Ekiti), Jimoh I.T.T (Osun), Bimpe Badmus (Lagos), Salihu Baba Alkali (Gombe) and Andrew Ayabam (Benue).
An official document seen by Daily Trust shows that the new directors were appointed as state coordinators thus: Akingbade (Kwara, Ekiti and Ondo), Jimoh (Lagos East, Lagos CGT and stamp duty), Alkali (FCT, Kogi and Nasarawa), Ayabam (Benue, Kaduna and Niger) while Badmus was assigned the special duty portfolio which covers financial, oil and gas, multinational and telecommunication.
“Presently hundreds of resumes have been collected from some selected individuals though their vacancies were never advertised,” another source said.
Also, the new FIRS chief had redeployed 13 deputy directors to non-existing training schools last month.
The deputy directors were hitherto heading zonal and regional offices of the FIRS across the country but “they are now made redundant,” a source said.
The source said “These training schools were just created on paper. These directors are experienced but they are now reduced to bench warmers in the FIRS headquarters.”
We’re not aware – Character commission
The Federal Character Commission (FCC) said it was investigating the secret recruitment in FIRS.
The acting executive chairman of FCC, Shettima Bukar-Abba said “I am investigating FIRS. I have never seen anything from FIRS since I came in two months ago. But I also learnt they are recruiting.”
He said the revenue agency was summoned by the National Assembly because of the same “complaints from the people.”
“I am just trying to put in place a committee so that they will carry out the investigation. Once we find out what is happening, we will let you know,” Bukar-Abba told Daily Trust.
We only hired 10 staff – FIRS
But the FIRS spokesperson Wahab Gbadamosi said Fowler recruited the directors to assist in the realisation of FIRS’ 2016 target of N4.9 trillion.
Gbadamosi said in an emailed response that “the FIRS has not undertaken any recruitment into the service as alleged. Rather, the FIRS executive chairman head hunted about 10 staff - most of whom are contract staff - to assist the service in the realisation of FIRS’ 2016 target of N4.9 trillion.”
He said that FIRS “will follow requisite rules and procedures in recruiting staff into its workforce.”
On redeployment, the FIRS spokesperson said “the posting of experienced directors to FIRS training centres is part of FIRS’ capacity building programme, designed to improve the output of its staff nationwide.”
N2.17tr drop in revenue
Analysis of official data obtained from FIRS website shows that the agency generated N4.72 trillion from taxes for the Federal Government in 2014. But the revenue dropped to N2.54 trillion in 2015.
A quarterly analysis of the data shows that the revenue generation dropped by N2.17 trillion.
The biggest drop occurred in the third quarter which was when Fowler resumed at the FIRS.
The data shows that in 2014, N1.06 trillion was generated in the first quarter, N1.46 trillion for the second quarter, N1.19 trillion for the third quarter and N1.00 trillion for the last quarter.
But the figures slipped in 2015, where the agency generated N756.7 billion for the first quarter, N746.7 billion for the second quarter, N250.2 billion for the third quarter, and N790.7billion for the fourth quarter.
It may get worse in 2016 – Experts
Former president of Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN), Mark Anthony Dike blamed the economy for the drop in revenue. “Things have been harsh and many businesses are retrenching staff. Some businesses have also shut down or scaled down their operations and lay off some staff.
“This suggests the figures for 2015 would be worst because the economy wasn’t stimulated by investments and the commercial activities were low.
“Last year’s tax payment was a function of 2014 operational results and the tax for 2014 is a function of 2013 operational results.
“There is no doubt that the returns this year wouldn’t be as cheering because of the lull in economic activities,” the tax consultant said.
Moses Azege, a financial analyst based in Abuja said primarily, there was leadership uncertainty at the revenue agency for most of 2015 and that can affect revenue collection.
“Concurrently, oil started nose diving, exacerbating an already battered business year,” he said.
Gbadamosi refused to comment on the drop on the revenue generated by the FIRS.

PoliticsB’haram Demands Ransom Of $50m From FG To Free Chibok Girls by olatade(op): 10:11am On Apr 10, 2016
The terror sect, Boko Haram, is asking for a ransom of nearly $50million from the Federal Government for the release of the 219 Chibok schoolgirls who were kidnapped by the insurgents two years ago, according to The Sunday Telegraph of London.

The paper said it gathered from sources close to the sect that the demand was made “during secret contacts with the government of President Muhammadu Buhari, who has said he is willing to negotiate for the girls’ freedom.”

The group’s leader, Abubakar Shekau, had previously demanded the release of jailed comrades in exchange for the girls.

A top security source said last night that there was no deal in place between government and the sect on the Chibok girls who were abducted on April 14, 2014.

The Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) group which has been campaigning for the rescue of the girls has expressed frustration about government’s continued “rhetoric of lack of intelligence and other excuses” on their fate.

It said in a statement ahead of the second anniversary of the abduction that it expects more action than the rhetoric.

The Sunday Telegraph said in its report that Boko Haram made the ransom demand in a message to the Federal Government about three months ago.

It offered to exchange the girls for a ransom of N10b, the equivalent of around £36m.

The paper said, “The ransom demand has split the government,” said the source. “Some think it would be worth it just to resolve the Chibok situation, but others say it will simply allow Boko Haram to hire yet more insurgent recruits.”

It also said that a month after the ransom demand, Boko Haram secretly passed the government a new video tape showing 15 of the kidnapped girls.

It added:”The girls are asked what their Christian names are and what their new Muslim names are,” he said, referring to the “conversion” that Boko Haram forces Christian prisoners to undergo. “They are also asked if they have been raped or mistreated, but they say no – they look relaxed.”

It also said that an Australian clergyman and former Nigerian government advisor who spent four months in Nigeria in 2014 attempting to negotiate the girls’ freedom, Dr Stephen Davies claimed that during his visits to Nigeria in 2014, a Boko Haram commander gave him a grisly video showing what purported to be the human remains of some of the Chibok girls.

However, he had never passed it on because there was no proof that it was definitely them.

“There was nothing identifiable in the video, and without any proof that it was the girls, there was no way I was prepared to pass it to anguished relatives,” he said. “On the other hand, I can’t think of any other reason why the commander would have passed it to me.”

Contacted on the Telegraph story last night, a top security source said: “There is no ongoing deal with Boko Haram at any level. That claim by the sect or any other person is incorrect.

“President Muhammadu will not engage in any backdoor deal with the insurgents. The report was talking of the last three months in which Boko Haram had been severely decimated by the military.”

The Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, who was also contacted responded from Addis Ababa on his way to China, saying : “I will find out from the appropriate security chiefs and get back to you.”

Meanwhile, the BBOG group wondered “how much longer must we wait” before the girls are brought back home.

Although, it acknowledged the heightened effort of the military to crush Boko Haram it said, quoting President Buhari: “We cannot claim to have defeated Boko Haram without rescuing the Chibok girls and all other innocent persons held hostage by the insurgents.”

PoliticsFG Probes Swiss Envoy Over ‘gay Spouse’ by olatade(op): 9:33am On Apr 10, 2016
Switzerland’s Ambassador Eric Mayooraz
The federal government has launched an investigation to unravel the circumstances that led to the coming of Switzerland’s Ambassador to Nigeria with a male spouse alleged to be his gay partner, Daily Trust on Sunday has learnt.
Eric Mayooraz, who was posted to Nigeria last year to head the Swiss mission, is alleged to have arrived the country in the company of his gay partner, a Brazilian whose name was given simply as Mr. Carlos.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed on Thursday that it was aware of the issue and has commenced probe.
Efforts to register Mayooraz as a member of the Association of Spouses of Heads of Mission (ASOHOM) in Nigeria have been generating controversy.
embassy to introduce the male partner of the ambassador to ASOHOM as a member, the response from the embassy reads: “The Swiss Ambassador is not married. As he is not married, the Swiss Ambassador, upon request of the President of the ASOHOM, designated an employee of the Embassy, the Administrator/Intendant of the Swiss Residence, to represent him in ASOHOM, which created some misunderstanding among members. As this designation seemed not to be accepted by some of the members, the Swiss Ambassador decided to withdraw from the association in December 2015.”
Efforts to get the reaction of the ASOHOM’s leadership on the matter proved abortive, even as Daily Trust on Sunday learnt that the seat of the association’s president is currently vacant. It was gathered that when the last chairperson completed her tenure last year, none of the members indicated interest in the leadership position.
When our reporter sought an audience with the immediate ex-president of the association, who is the wife of the Mexican ambassador to Nigeria, her husband denied him access, saying that ASOHOM was a private organization which does not want media coverage.
We are investigating the issue - Foreign Affairs Ministry
The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr Akinremi Bolaji, said it had been brought to the notice of the ministry that an envoy had a male spouse in the country.
In a telephone chat with our correspondent, Bolaji said: “We are aware of the development and have started investigation. It is either they have deceived us because we would never have allowed such a person to enter the country if we were aware before now. We have a law, which must be obeyed by all. If we find him culpable, he will be made to face the full wrath of the law.”

What the law says about same-sex relationship in Nigeria
On 13 January 2014, former President Goodluck Jonathan signed into law the Same-Sex Marriage Prohibition Act, which parliament passed in May 2013. The law imposes life imprisonment for some types of homosexual acts.
Section 1 prohibits any marriage contract or civil union entered into between persons of same sex. Such marriages shall not be recognized as entitled to the benefits of a valid marriage.
Such a marriage is void in Nigeria even where the marriage contract was entered into between persons of same sex by virtue of a certificate issued by a foreign country, and any benefit accruing therefrom by virtue of the certificate shall not be enforced by any court of law.
Section 2 forbids a Church, Mosque or any other place of worship in Nigeria to solemnize same sex marriage entered into between persons of same sex. Also no certificate issued to persons of same sex in a marriage shall be valid in Nigeria.
According to Section 3, only a marriage contracted between a man and a woman shall be recognized as valid in Nigeria. Any person who enters into a same sex marriage contract, according to the law has committed an offence and is liable on conviction to 14 years imprisonment.
A person, who registers, operates or participates in gay clubs, societies and organization, or directly or indirectly makes public show of same sex amorous relationship in Nigeria also commits an offence and is liable on conviction to a term of 10 years imprisonment.
While a person or group of persons who administers, witnesses, abets or aids the solemnization of a same-sex marriage or civil union, or supports the registration, operation and sustenance of gay clubs, societies, organizations, processions or meetings in Nigeria commits an offence and is liable on conviction to 10 years imprisonment.

Same-sex rights in Switzerland
While Switzerland has recognized same-sex couples since 2007, same-sex marriage is not yet legal. However, in February, the law committee of the Lower House of parliament in the country voted in favour of same-sex marriage.
It’s a start, as any move to legalize marriage for gay couples would require a change to the Swiss constitution and the passing of a national referendum. In a recent poll for Pink Cross, 54 per cent of Swiss people said they supported same-sex marriage.
