CelebritiesPolice Arrest Mercy Aigbe In Osogbo by olatade(op): 9:07pm On Apr 27, 2016
A popular Nollywood actress, Mercy Aigbe, was Wednesday arrested by police men at Olaiya junction in Osogbo, Osun State capital for allegedly displaying a police cap on her car’s dash board.

The sporadic gun shots by the police men attracted passers-by to the scene that occurred around 4.30 pm

Aigbe and her driver in their metallic gold Honda Accord car were said to have been given a hot chase to the spot by the trigger-happy police patrol team.

When eventually the Yoruba film actress was stopped her car was said to have been thoroughly searched by the policemen.

When Aigbe was ordered to step out of the car, she obliged the policemen but her appearance attracted a huge, struggling to catch a glimpse of her face as she was been quizzed by the security operatives

The actress reportedly put a call through to a superior police officer, when her vehicular papers and phones were seized by the policemen.

Later, the Aigbe’s driver was driving away in the police van while another police officer was said to have taken the actress away in her Honda car.

Meanwhile, an Assistant Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ajibade Egbedele, said, it was just a minor traffic issue and it has been settled.

PoliticsEl-rufai Stoned By Angry Youths As Crisis Breaks Out In Part Of Kaduna by olatade(op): 9:42am On Apr 27, 2016
Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir el-Rufai was said to be stoned by angry youths in Ungwan Gado Community, a suburb within Kaduna metropolis, earlier this week.

It was gathered that the governor was there to broker peace between that community and a neighbouring community, resulting from the gruesome murder of a teenager, a day before his visit.

The incident occurred at about 9pm, in spite of a strong presence of security operatives, deployed to the area to douse the rising tension.

An eyewitness informed that the governor on arriving the area, was pelted, with chants of ‘ba mu so’ when translated from Hausa, means ‘we don’t want you’ chorused by the angry youths.

It was gathered that trouble in the communities all located within Malali axis in Kaduna, broke out when youths suspected to be under the influence of drugs stabbed a teenager to death at a public gathering they all attended.

It is still unclear if the youth that was murdered was a Muslim or Christian, but as it stands, the crisis is beginning to take a religious colouration.

Efforts to reach el-Rufai’s spokesman, Samuel Aruwan and the Police Public Relations Officer, Kaduna State, Zubairu Abubakar to respond to the development proved abortive as calls put to them were not picked. Text message sent to them on the development, was also not responded to as at the time of filing this report.

AUTHENTIC News Daily can authoritatively report that as at the time of this report, tension is still high in the affected communities, with fears that reprisals may take place in other parts of Kaduna.

It was observed that Hausa traders who usually thronged the Yam Market located in Sabon Tasha, a 100 per cent Christian community were completely absent from there on Tuesday night as rumours of the crisis spread throughout Kaduna City.

PoliticsArms Scandal: $15bn, Not $2.1bn Stolen, Says EFCC by olatade(op): 7:18am On Apr 27, 2016
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission made staggering discoveries in the process of investigating the alleged fraud relating to the diversion of $2.1bn meant for prosecution of the war against Boko Haram.

The PUNCH learnt on Tuesday that the EFCC had discovered that the total anti-insurgency money diverted by various personalities and agencies was over $15bn.

The $2.1bn represents the arms cash placed under the Office of the National Security Adviser, then headed by the immediate past NSA, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.).

Ex-military chiefs, including a former Chief of Defence Staff, Air Marshal Alex Badeh (retd.); and a former Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Adesola Amosu (retd.), had been quizzed for their alleged roles in the arms scam.

Badeh and Dasuki are currently standing trial on charges relating to the alleged fraud.

A top source at the commission, who confided in The PUNCH on Tuesday, said the EFCC and the presidential panel on arms procurement, during investigations, discovered that $2.1bn fraud was just for one of the several transactions.

The source added that the commission discovered that top military officers deliberately incorporated companies to divert anti-insurgency funds for their personal uses.

“We have discovered that the total money in the arms scandal is over $15bn, not $1.2bn that was initially discovered. The $2.1bn was just for one transaction. Many of these military officers set up companies for the purpose of diverting money meant for the prosecution of the anti-insurgency war,” he said.

CCT chair, Umar, not yet exonerated

On the allegations against the Code of Conduct Chairman, Justice Danladi Umar, the source explained that the judge had not been totally exonerated.

Umar was alleged to have demanded a N10m bribe from Mr. Rasheed Taiwo, a former customs officer.

The source in the commission stated that the content of the letter the EFCC wrote to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation on the matter was clear.

The top source, who confided in The PUNCH, said, “Facts are being distorted by those who are afraid of their shadow. The letter, dated March 5, 2015, clearly explains that there was no sufficient evidence at that time to prosecute the judge. It is not an exoneration. The man (who wrote the letter) says there is no sufficient evidence. The issue can come up again.”

£600,000 wristwatch seized from Diezani

£1.4m wristwatch seized from Omokore’s wife

One of our correspondents learnt that the commission had seized expensive jewellery and wristwatches during various raids on houses of some suspects on Banana Island, Ikoyi, Lagos, and other places.

The source added that the items seized from the suspects would be displayed to journalists in Nigeria while the summit of 60 world leaders, including President Muhammadu Buhari, would take place on May 11 and 12 in the United Kingdom.

The EFCC source added that a wristwatch worth 1.4m pounds was seized from the wife of the Chairman of Atlantic Energy Drilling Concepts Nigeria Limited, Mr. Jide Omokore.

He stated that a wristwatch of about £600,000 was seized from a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, during a raid on her residence.

The firm of Omokore, who was quizzed in January by the commission, was one of the companies that allegedly received multi-billion dollars worth of public assets without due process from the Jonathan administration.

The company, which was established in 2010, had reportedly not explored any oil when it was curiously awarded controlling stakes in two lucrative oil blocks, OML 30 and 34, for just over $50m each.

The deal, which was signed by Jonathan’s Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, gave Atlantic Energy Limited a controlling 55 per cent stake

The former minister had been interrogated by the Metropolitan Police on issues relating to money laundering.

The EFCC source said the commission had started analysing information on Nigerians, including the President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki, and others mentioned in the Panama Paper leaks.

It was gathered that the commission had seized one hospital equipment known as MRI, Medical Resonance Image, from Amosu. The equipment is worth N2.6bn.

The EFCC had previously recovered over N2.3bn cash from Amosu, while properties worth over N1bn had been seized from him.

Commission working to extradite Obanikoro, Mu’azu

Besides suspects in Nigeria, it was learnt that the EFCC had begun moves to extradite those who had fled the country.

The EFCC source added that the commission was working with the United States’ Federal Bureau of Investigation and the UK’s National Crimes Commission to bring back those who were being investigated, including a former Minister of State for Defence, Mr. Musiliu Obanikoro, and an ex-National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu.

“We are working with FBI and NCA and they are eager to assist us. I can assure you that those people will be brought back to Nigeria for interrogation,” the source said.

Car TalkFG Okays Five-year Expiry Date For Driving Licence by olatade(op): 8:19am On Apr 25, 2016
The Federal Government has approved the production of another driving licence that will have a five-year expiry period, the Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr. Boboye Oyeyemi, has said.

Oyeyemi, who spoke at a press briefing in Lagos on Saturday, said the decision to have the five-year driving licence was taken by the Joint Tax Board at its 134th meeting held recently in Kano, which was presided over by the Chairman, Federal Inland Revenue Service, Babatunde Fowler.

Before now, the driving licence had a three-year terminal date after which motorists were expected to renew the document.

Oyeyemi, however, said the three-year driving licence would not be jettisoned, adding that it would exist side by side with the new one.

He said, with the new five-year driving licence, motorists would have the option of going for that or the three-year licence.

Quoting from a communiqué issued by the JTB after the meeting, the corps marshal said, “The board has approved an optional validity period for driving licence of three and five years at different costs to provide more efficient an effective service delivery to its customers.”

According to him, while the three-year licence will cost N6,000, motorists are to pay N10,000 for the five-year document, stressing that the cost has not been increased.

The FRSC CEO stressed that any new applicant for any of the two driving licences would have to go to an approved driving school for training to qualify for a licence to drive.

One other decision taken at the JTB meeting was the production period for vehicle number plate, which the FRSC would henceforth complete in five working days.

Oyeyemi also cleared the air on the recent court pronouncement on the speed limiter, noting that it only declared that the corps should not fix the gadget’s price or market it but it could enforce the use of device in commercial vehicles.

“I’ve never spoken about prices and marketing since the speed limiting device campaign started. We’re not involved in that. Ours is the enforcement of the device. We’re only concerned about what can bring down road crashes,” he said.

He expressed satisfaction with the success so far recorded with the speed limiting device and commended various transport groups and firms that had bought into the idea.

For instances, he said a number of transport companies had purchased vehicles affixed with the speed limiting device now being deployed in long distance routes.

PoliticsEFCC Arrests Nelly Mayshak And Three Others by olatade(op): 6:52am On Apr 20, 2016
The EFCC has arrested the Director General of the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) Nelly Mayshak who was recently suspended over an alleged N2.5 billion fraud.
The anti-graft agency also arrested three of her staff who it alleged served as front for her in the award of fictitious contracts, sources told Daily Trust yesterday.

The staff are Yoab Youssoufou, Patricia Iyogun and Ruth Imonikhe.
Mayshak was suspended indefinitely in March over allegations of fraud uncovered in the PTAD.
The directorate is an independent pension agency established in August 2013 to oversee management of pensions under the Defined Benefit Scheme for pensioners who are not part of a new contributory scheme.
EFCC sources told Daily Trust that investigations into the alleged fraud revealed that Mayshak misappropriated about N2 billion of the N2.5 billion.
She inherited the money from the pension’s account of the Head of the Civil Service (HOSF) mainly meant for Nigerian Immigrations Service (NIS) Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), and Nigeria Prisons Service (NPS).
She is also said to have embezzled about N500 million meant as take-off grant for PTAD.
The source said the alleged fraud was committed in the award of contracts during her three-year tenure.
“In one instance, Mayshak allegedly approved N25, 410,000 contracts for the supply of 121,000,000 litres of fuel in one day when in fact there was no corresponding storage capacity. PTAD only has storage capacity of about 11,000 litres, which lasts for about a month,” the source said.
Mayshak is also alleged to have awarded several phony contracts to cronies and staff of PTAD, through which she enriched herself because they only served as fronts for her.
The source added: “Between December 8 and 30, 2014 she awarded multiple contracts to the same company, Interactive Wide Nigeria Limited, to the tune of about N29, 377,993.26.
“Other contracts for the supply of office materials, air conditioners, and conference materials to the tune of N375, 704,287 were awarded to Belzacode, Hosley Nigeria Limited and Pabak Nigeria Limited.”
The source said investigations revealed that “Yousoufou, Team Leader, ICT owned Belzacode; Imonihke, Team Leader, DG’s Office, owned Hosley Nigeria Limited while Iyogun, Team Leader, Customs, Immigration and Prisons Pensions Department, said to be a sister-in-law to Mayshak, owned Pabak Nigeria Limited.
“They were however, found to be merely serving as fronts for Mayshak.”
Minister of Finance Kemi Adeosun suspended Mayshak when the scandal broke to enable unhindered investigations.
The minister’s office said that the allegations against Mayshak did not relate to pensioner’s fund but to operational expenses of PTAD.
“The suspension which is a normal civil service procedure is to pave way for an unimpeded investigation into the activities of the directorate under the watch of Mayshak.
“While the ministry assures pensioners that the suspension will not affect pension payment and services, it promises to make public the findings of the investigative panel on the issues leading to the suspension.’’
Mayshak it was gathered first ran into trouble during the tenure of the former Accountant General of the Federation, Jonah Otunla.
She was alleged to have demanded the sum of N3 billion earmarked for the verification of pensioners nationwide to be released to her, but Otunla refused.
Otunla, reportedly argued that the verification exercise was supposed to be carried out by the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation and not PTAD.

PoliticsImmigration Cg’s Wife Assaults Officer In Kano by olatade(op): 6:17am On Apr 20, 2016
Wife of the Comptroller General of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) Martins Kure Abeshi, Blessing Bulus, has allegedly assaulted a deputy superintendent of the service, one Hassan Mustapha Saleh, at the Nigeria Immigration Training School in Kano.
The incident, which followed a minor misunderstanding, took place on Thursday, April 7, 2016, Daily Trust gathered.
Blessing, said to be the third wife of the CG, is among new recruits into the service currently undergoing training in the school.
According to eyewitness account, trouble began when Mr. Saleh, a lecturer at the training school, saw Blessing sitting on the staircase of U.K. Umar block while her colleagues were taking their lectures in their respective classes.
Recalling the incident, the witness said, “I overheard Mr. Saleh directing the lady to go back to her class from a far distance but she refused. On reaching the staircase, he stopped and inquired why she was sitting there while lectures were on and therefore ordered her to go back to the lecture hall, but instead of obeying his directives, the lady shouted at him. And when the lecturer responded, the lady started raining abusive words on him before she finally grabbed at his neck and gave him a slap. She slapped him about five times before she finally tore his shirt.”
Another witness said this was the second time that officers of the service were having trouble with the lady, saying about two weeks earlier, another senior officer of the service; the chief inspector and dean of discipline of the school, Dalhatu Gwarzo had a problem with the lady and was summoned to Abuja to clear his name before the CG.
When contacted for comment, the Public Relations Officer of the service in the school, Hajiya Amina Aliyu said the commandant of the school had travelled on an official assignment. When pressed for comment, she said, “I don’t know anything about what you are talking about, therefore I cannot comment.”
But a source in the school told Daily Trust that a 7-man investigative panel headed by an assistant comptroller was constituted to investigate the matter.
Daily Trust reports that the panel queried the officer who confessed that he retaliated after she pointed fingers at him. He said he pushed her hand away and she hit him. The committee concluded that the officer assaulted her first and also that he was not in uniform when the incident happened. The officer, according to the committee, ought to have reported her to the school authority especially because he was not wearing uniform when the whole incident happened.
The source, who is also a senior officer in the service, lamented what he described as “the typically unruly behaviour” of the lady, saying, “Although the eldest son of the CG is also undergoing training in the school as an assistant inspector, he does not behave the way this lady behaves. Unlike the lady, the boy is calm and will never brag because his father is the CG.”
The source added that if it were somebody else and not the CG’s wife that was involved she would have been severely dealt with.
The Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Deputy Comptroller of Immigration Ekpedeme King denied any knowledge of the incident when contacted.
Concerning the employment of two close relatives of the Comptroller General, Ekpedeme said he was not aware that the CG’s wife and son were among those newly recruited. “I can’t confirm that but if that is the case, what should worry us should be whether they are qualified to be in the Immigration or not. Are they competent? Are they qualified? If they are, we shouldn’t deny them because their parents are holding certain positions as long as they are Nigerians.”

RomanceMeet The Woman Addicted To Having Sex 10 Times A Day by olatade(op): 6:15pm On Apr 18, 2016
AN office worker who was fired and lost her friends due to a sex addiction found an “adventurous” man in the bedroom who is her lover and “therapist”.

When Sami Walton and James Keates abandon a night out early, James’ friends wink and snigger as his girlfriend can’t keep her hands off him.

But Sami’s addiction has previously wreaked havoc in her life and she has “exhausted” her boyfriend by having sex more than 10 times a day.

Sami, 29, said: “Most men think they would love a partner who needs sex so much, but none of my previous boyfriends could handle it.

“I’m lucky to have James. Not only does he have the stamina to keep up with me, he’s really supportive and doesn’t judge me when I’m having a bad day.”

The couple try to have sex at least once a day to keep Sami satisfied and she owns a £1,500 collection of adult toys in case James is too tired.

Sami lost a job and friends due to her addiction.

He said: “All my mates are jealous of me and it’s a bit of a running joke when we sneak away from the pub early for sex.

“I’d be lying if I said a girlfriend who wants sex constantly doesn’t have its advantages. In the early days I felt like I’d won the lottery.

“But now I’m getting a bit older it can be exhausting and I know it gets Sami down. I just try my best to be understanding.”

The financial worker steers away from medication or advice from doctors as she believes they don’t understand the problem.

She added: “I would rather try to manage it on my own, with help from James.

“I don’t think doctors really get what sex addiction means and how it can affect your life.”

When Sami broke up with a long-term partner in her 20s she became aware of her addiction.

She had a series of flings and one-night encounters with strangers and friends but had assumed her urges were all part of being on the rebound.

Sami even slept with women, although she is not bisexual, to satisfy her lust.

“Things spiralled out of control completely and I drove my friends away because all I cared about was sex. I had a huge network of people I’d sleep with regularly – I’d call them my friends with benefits – but I’d also sleep with strangers.

“Some evenings if I had nothing else to do I’d go to a wine bar, order myself a drink and sit at the bar until I got chatting to someone in the hope of sleeping with them.

“I was so desperate for some action, I’d do anything for sex. I consider myself straight but I’d sleep with women just to satisfy my cravings,” Sami continued.

The couple aim to have sex once a day to satisfy Sami’s cravings Stan Kujawa

After travelling to the other side of the country for sex Sami awoke miles away from home and she was often late to work or didn’t show up at all.

Eventually Sami told her boss she had an addiction and confided in her mother who helped her to make a doctor’s appointment.

She said: “I had to phone my boss and tell her I couldn’t come into work because I was stranded in Birmingham following a one-night stand. I broke down and told her I was a sex addict.

I think elrufai is often misunderstood in his pursuit of serving the people. I think it's time we objectively review his decisions and view them as instruments for change. Gov elrufai has good intentions backed with the right effort, he seems to be the only governor currently making progressive choices for the people. Surely every administration has one, elrufai is the Fashola of this administration. Always working for the people but always easily misunderstood. Mallam I commend you. You're not only fixing Kaduna, you're creating a new template for the younger generation to help create the new paradigm needed to move Nigeria forward. This decision is commendable, just like the religious bill, KASTELA and all others. I urge you to be patient with the people, always take time to explain your decision while we pray the people would eventually understand.Meanwhile there're some who will never believe in you, kindly ignore nay sayers and keep working. The consequences of in actions of previous administrations can be seen across Nigeria, you must act even if it means bn unpopular for now. Remember sometimes good governance is misunderstood by the governed, especially when public knowledge of what's good is inadequate due to long neglect by bad leaders. For more than 30yrs,all the youth of this country have ever known is bad governance often paraded as dividends of democracy, nicknamed transformation or multi pointed agendas, it's only expected that our understanding of normal or right and wrong is bias in favor of what we've bn served overtime(bad governance tainted with ethnic and religious sentiments). That's the reason for so many objections in matters you'll ordinarily expect an overwhelming public support. You must remain resolute , fixing Kaduna and Nigeria is not for the weak. We'll support you accordingly. All the best.
