LEEJORDAN270: April 11th 2023 Visa category: F1 Masters degree in Communication School: Eastern New Mexico University Visa Approved
So my interview was by 6:30, i got there around 3am, due to Lagos traffic, because i live in Ikorodu, i don't want to take any risk i would later regret.
Interviewer was a black American lady, sort of busty. Window 5
ME: Good morning, How was the holiday (Easter)
VO: Good morning it was great, yours?
ME: Great also, thank you.
VO: What course did you study for your 1st degree?
ME: Linguistics
VO: When did you graduate?
ME: 2019
VO: Have you ever traveled out of Nigeria before?
ME: No i haven't
VO: So why is it now you are going for your masters after 4 years?
ME: I needed to acquire some set of skills before going for masters, which i did, but then masters degree has a very big edge over bachelors degree here in Nigeria.
VO: But it is also the same way in the US.
ME: Well, like i said before, i have traveled out of Nigeria before, so i can't say i know how it is outside the country, i only know for my home country.
VO: (Smile) So what do you do currently?
ME: I was a software developer as at last year October when i filled my DS-160 form, but now i am a content and program editor for a radio station (radio name)
VO: I want to know what you do currently?
ME: I am a content and program editor.
VO: Who is funding you?
ME: I have a GA with the school and my elder sister is paying for the remaining deficit.
VO: What does your sister do?
ME: She is a Senior Software developer and also has a side business, which is real estate.
VO: (Typed for long and fast, then she looked at me and said) Your visa has been approved, congratulations...
Omo i nearly prostrate for her. Grace found me, at my first try for traveling out. Grace found you indeed. Congratulations. Welcome to Ame |

Use the time to hustle out the first money, M. Get dirty. Do menial jobs to get your seed capital. Then use the money to set up ur cyber cafe. As it grows, bring in people who will replace you to get freedom. That is buying other people time, T. This is a concept called Time Money Time arbitrage.(TMT). It simply states if you don't have money to start a business, hustle yourself out(that is using your time, T) to get the first money(M), then use the money to buy others time, T. VO- Oh okay. Do you have siblings?
Me: Yes I do. My older sister is-
VO:How many?
ME: 3 siblings.
VO: Your said your older sister is where? Here in Nigeria?

Jobs/Vacancies › Re: How Do I Get Over This Job Loss by Olawrites: 4:47pm On Mar 30, 2023 |
Anonymoususher: Losing that job could be answers to the prayers you went for. Sometimes salary blinds you from the numerous opportunities that abounds around you.
Imagine yourself staying tied in one building 8-5 everyday and you don't grow neither do you know what's happening around.
Most office workers don't even have any business idea that's why they are the first to fall for ponzi schemes because they don't have time for themselves so they easily fall for anything that will make money work for them.
Let me tell you a bit about myself.
After graduation, I worked as a teacher earning 47k monthly. My family and everyone depended on that money. Infact my life was on it, I was so scared of losing my job.
After two years earning was increased to just 61k. I couldn't live outside the salary but something happened.
In 2020 during covid lockdown, you know teachers were affected most. I stayed at home doing online lesson and salary dropped from 60k to 40k to 30k to 10k until the school decided that they can no longer pay salaries.
My fears had come to pass. No salary, how do I survive? How will my mom and siblings survive? With lack of salary my eyes opened to opportunities and I started marketing people's goods.
I would go-to markets, take pictures and market, sellers give their price and I will add my price and market. I marketed anything sellable online, from phones, to fridge, to TV etc. Gradually I began to make little sales with profit of 4k, 5k, 10k etc. Gradually I began making my salary.
Fast forward to when covid madness was over, they called us back but I told my family to buckle up that I was about to drop a resignation letter. If I could survive those months without salary then it wasn't the salary that has been sustaining me.
My mom and siblings everyone adjusted and i went out to continue with my hustle.
Fast forward to today, my colleagues that I left in that school are still earning 75k but that amount sometimes I make that profit in a day, many atimes in a week (though there are bad weeks and months sha).
I have three cars out there for e-hailing with people driving and giving remittance of 25k weekly each, I have two POS stands, I have two plots of lands and I have been able to rent a good house for myself and left mama's house for good.
I tell people this story so they can open their eyes and see sack letters as a blessing in disguise.
If your job is not paying you enough to make you live large then you shouldn't die cos of a sack letter. I keep saying it, this life your destiny is in your hand. Thanks for the write up. I had my major breakthrough since 2020 when I stopped working for anyone. |

itoski: They pull up your application and if you send a complete package you should be getting a decision.
Admission is given on a first come first serve policy and you can't jump the process except if it has been months without a decision and you just have to send a message for follow-up.
Don't go and bomb them before they take your mail to the spam box. I pity anyone that take this advice. You think you're only one that has competitive profile. Alot of people are competing with your prof's inbox. Even my GC do tell me to remind them at so so time for more update about internal happenings. Don't just over do it |

taiwogabriel: I guess for them, the thinking is that you already have an offer somewhere else but probably waiting for their decision to select which offers to choose from. Like you said, it's best to wait for their decision and more often than not, when a school is delaying a bit much than is expected it might be the case that you are a potential and might want to wait for others who would reject their admission, where slots are already filled, before they consider you. So best for you to wait their decision. Don't be too anxious. This is not always true, at times other candidates are bombarding the inbox of the graduate coordinator, they won't even have your own time. So the more you send an email (follow up) the better. |

DynamicWriter: Ever since AI writing assistants gained more ground, there has been a significant reduction in job vacancies for writers. Most especially on Nairaland.
Do you notice this too? It's law of demand and supply. The clients given your client jobs aren't many as before again due to AI, so themselves don't have any job to give out. AI has now make writing jobs extremely scarce unlike before, as most client now use it, this is the better time to upskill and look me for something else to learn before it even get worst 1 Like |

My first letter was November last year and this second time the date on the letter was moved to March 13 to 20 and now I can’t find date and my emergency date was not approved again.
What should I do now? Or is it possible to still be considered for deferment again the second time ?

I just got issued my 1-20 form after gaining admision to study Masters in the US for August fall 2023. Please, I need help with this: 1. Do I fill my D 160 application now to book for interview? Is there a specific time lag to do this? 2. Is payment of SEVIS applicabe for all students to study in the US? And us there a particular time to make the payment? Thanks 1. You can book your interview without filling ds- form, please take your time to fill your ds form as any information you put can be used against you in the front of VO. Pay your Visa fee for now and look for closer day for your interview as date is getting scarce now. 2. Yes, it's compulsory you must pay. You need to pay it at most 72 hours to your interview day. Don't forget to do mock interview to gain confidence. Good luck. |
