I am from Delta State.Ogwashi ukwu precisely.I speak igbo,i have an igbo name.My elders from the same lineage all had igbo names and surname.Our Igboness has never been in doubt...I am proud to be igbo...If you are truly from Asaba,you will know that ANIOMA is a Coinage used to identify igbo speaking people of delta state from the local government in delta state and to seperate them from other ethnic groups like ijaw,itsekiri,urhobo and the rest.these local government includes Aniocha,Ndokwa,ika,oshimili and OMA was added to make it have a meaning ANIOMA (GOOD LAND)...There are many notable sons and daughters from this region(ANIOMA also referred to as western igbos) who are proud of their roots.The likes of Late Ambassador Ralph Uwechue incase you never knew was one time President General Ohaneze Ndi Igbo.Notable persons like Ngozi Okonjo Iweala and many more others have never denied their origin...Recently During a BBC interview with the billionaire Ned Nwoko who is also from the igbo part of delta state,He categorically stated that he is igbo.Omu of anioma from Okpanam in one of the videos posted on her facebook wall,you will see her praying for biafra land,prayed for igbos in the south east and south south.She wouldnt do that if she is confused about her igboness.Ngozi Okonjo Iweala in a publication stated that she was hated in Aso rock Because she is igbo.Again clearly you can see she knows her roots.incase you dont know,Her father was the OBI of Ogwashi Ukwu.You claim you come from Asaba,Did you watch the interview the Obi of Asaba Prof.Chike Edozie granted the BBC??if not search for it and hear what he had to say about the asaba massacre during the war.

In as much as we have some individuals who claim not to be igbo(even though deep down in them they know they are igbos) from this region,but i can authoritatively you that majority of our people are proudly igbo..its evident in igbo groups both home and abroad as all igbos irrespective of the geopolitical zone are bonafide members.Over the years our people from the igbo part of delta state have been flaunting their igboness

we know your type..we always refer to your type as individuals having identity crisis.in case you have not,please read this book written by the OBI OF IDUMUJE UNO HRM CHARLES ANYASI "ANIOMA:RESOLVING IDENTITY CRISIS" i recommend not just you but everyone reading this post irrespective of ethnic group.By the way Idumuje Uno is in the Aniocha North LGA of delta state.and the Author is a custodian of the Kingdom.If he thinks he isnt igbo,he wouldnt have come up with that book..

What Pius Anyim said isnt out of place if you ask me as we are talking about geo political zones here.If you give south south a position,equally south east should get irrespective of the fact whether its igbo person from south south..Sadly after the civil war,the nigeria government made sure igbos are scattered or lumped with other non igbo states.

So, I made a comment here last week about how heavily hypocritical Nigerians are about this BBNaija show. I only watch the show on Saturdays and Sundays, the parties and eviction shows respectively, and I don't understand why Nigerians are bit*ching so much about it.

All these moralistic, self-righteous people will be asking, "What is the essence of this BBNaija show?" Ogbeni, if you don't want to watch, don't tune in. Don't open threads concerning BBNaija. So tonight, Ebuka was a plain bad show host. This isn't tribalistic cos I'm Igbo, but he didn't do well speaking to Tacha and addressing her like she's a cankerworm in the house.

He showed very clearly how much he hates the girl. Ebuka is allowed to have favorites but not to express favoritism or dislike openly.

He began by saying: "So, Tacha, you know all that's going on in the house. You seem to know who's losing and who's winning. You analyse everything bla bla bla... So tell me three characteristics of a winner,"

As a sharp PH babe, the girl said, "Tacha, Tacha, Tacha..."

Ebuka, fool he is, immediately took offense. In a demeaning way, he asked her, "What is the meaning of characteristics?" The girl said it means something that defines a winner.

He kept asking her the question in a very condescending manner and she kept saying, "Me." The girl even got surprised at a point about how aggressive he was.

Finally, he said, "I expected better," and some other rude statement he made, and moved to the next person.

At the end of the show, he began to shade Tacha very heavily but indirectly, saying that some housemates should know that they are not biggie himself but mere housemates. They should stop trying to know what the viewers want and have fun in the house. That some people here feel that because they have a so-called army outside, they can just sit through the show and win the money...

Even in the east,some Igbo languages are different but still igbo language..compare ohafia igbo (abia state)and ohaji egbema igbo (Imo state)..just dialect difference but still igbo.same applies to western igbo which is very much similar to the igbo spoken in Anambra State like in Onitsha and Ogbaru

Olisa Okonjo Iweala identifies as Igbo. Sunday Oliseh (someone with a name very similar to yours) identify as Bini. Mozin Yewande Adetumininu (another Anioma) identifies as Yoruba. This is a beautiful thing. Its not something to be wailing about.

Ofcourse it’s not something to wail about but what matters and what you should seriously put into consideration is that 90% of the A.N.I.O.M.A people otherwise refered to as western igbos are proudly igbos and identify as such and many are all in igbo group both home and abroad and you can’t deny them that or rewrite their history because there are few who feel they are from Yoruba land or Benin land.as a matter of fact many scholars have tried to establish the relationship between Yoruba-Edo-igbo people.
