PoliticsRe: Impeachment: Coalition LLM Threatens To Shut Down Lagos House Of Assembly(PICS) by olisaokere(m): 5:56pm On Jan 31, 2019
stephanie11:
@POLITICSNGR

A coalition of civil society groups under the auspices of Lagos Liberation Movement (LLM) on Thursday threatened to occupy and shut down the Lagos State House of Assembly should lawmakers proceed with the impeachment moves against the State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, describing the action as anti-people and treasonable.

The lawmakers had threatened to commence impeachment proceedings against the governor over alleged gross misconduct particularly with regards to the 2019 budget of the State.

But addressing a world press conference at the Airport Hotel in Ikeja, the groups which include Campaign for Democracy (CD), United Action For Democracy (UAD), Centre for Public Accountability (CPA), Democracy Volunteers (DV), Ajegunle Collectives, Lagos People’s Assembly (LPA), Oodua Peoples Congress (Reformed), Yoruba Revolutionary Assembly (YORA) and Ohanaeze Youth, Lagos, said with the development, it was obvious that the Lagos Assembly was becoming a political abattoir for the murder of democracy in Nigeria.

LLM Convener, Comrade Mark Adebayo specifically accused a national leader of All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as being the architect of the impeachment saga, and urged all Lagosians and genuine compatriots across the country to strongly resist the move by the Lagos lawmakers against the governor.

He said it was obvious that the whole saga was a direct assault by a few political marauders determined to supplant democracy and jeopardize peace and development in the State, and further perpetuate their political dynasty.

According to Adebayo, “It is public knowledge that some days ago, members of the House commenced what is tantamount to a game of shame and senselessness, the results of which are predictably destructive by the ill-advised commencement of impeachment process against Governor Ambode.

“The question that most Lagosians are asking is ‘why?’. However, the reasons are not farfetched: It is fundamentally the handiwork and retrogressive machinations of political forces of evil determined to keep Lagos State in perpetual bondage of a man playing God over more than 20 million Lagosians with a view to perpetuating a political dynasty of lootocratic recklessness, marauding corruption and a relay regime of nepotistic subjugation accentuated by an intractable malaise of primitive accumulation of the most deadly genre, spearheaded, commanded, guided and goaded by Asiwaju Tinubu we daresay.”

He said the coalition and indeed vast majority of Lagosians were convinced beyond reasonable doubts that the allegations against the governor by the lawmakers were unknown to the constitution, but a move basically propelled desperately by few persons to have unrestricted access to the state’s treasury to squander on their political protégés running for public offices in the forthcoming general elections.

While alleging that the current backlash against the governor was over his refusal to comply with directive by his political godfather to release several billions of naira for elections, Adebayo warned Ambode never to contemplate leaving the state littered with uncompleted projects, saying he still had enough time to complete most of them before the expiration of his tenure on May 29, 2019.

He also accused the lawmakers of having nothing to justify the huge sums collected from government for constituency projects, just as he revealed that a comprehensive petition had been put together to anti-graft agencies and multilateral organizations for the Assembly to account for the N800million being collected as monthly running costs, aside their weekly and monthly allowances.

He also called on President Muhammadu Buhari to prevail on Tinubu not to proceed with the impeachment plan as such would be self-destructive, saying it was important for the APC to sort out its internal conflicts without putting the whole state into crises.

“We like to reiterate that Ambode is the governor of Lagos State and not the governor of the APC. If they have internal issues within their Party that should not be allowed to negatively affect the smooth running of government and make people suffer. The whole state cannot be reduced to the parochial shenanigans of a highly corrupted political family.

“The office of governor of Lagos State is beyond Ambode and as such any further humiliation, disrespect and embarrassment from any quarter will be utterly resisted by the people. Lagosians are unequivocal in their view that Ambode is a performing governor based on his style of governance and project execution, and as such, any further attack on him will be tantamount to attacking the People. And no one can win against the people,” Adebayo said.

yinkuscious:
DON'T BE ASHAMED OF YOUR LEGITIMATE HUSTLE - There is dignity in labour

One of the reasons why our society keep on experiencing the heart breaking stories of internet fraud, rituals and all sorts of unbelievable quest for getting rich scheme is our societal response and reactions to young people who desired to start small.

Few days ago, my sister reminded me of the saying "there is dignity in labor". That is, whatever you're doing, that is bringing food to your table, that is giving you joy and is not at the detriment of others, you should be proud of it.

But, reverse is the case these days. The process no longer matter, only the result, regardless of how you get the result.

Attentions are been given to those who are showing off and not those who are showing up to promote their trades.

Social media got it all blasted - In recent time, I noticed that if you post a picture of you in an exotic restaurant (even though you didn't buy anything) your social media connections will bless you with lots of reactions and comments, but if you post things about your business or services, you'll be given little attention, less reaction, no comment.

What is this data saying about our society? People don't care or give little attention to things that add value to your life, they don't want to support or show interest in your process.

Then people (victim of the societal judgment) decided to go into the get rich quick at all means, or die trying schemes.

And we all can see what this has caused us as a society.

Dear your people, be proud of your trade. Even if family and friends don't support you. Even if they pay no attention to you, God is a rewarded of hard work.
There are people who are taking note of your consistency, your ability and your sagacity.

It won't only give you peace of mind, it will allow you a beautiful legacy and a good place in history.

Don't fall for it, embrace your small beginning - those who look down on you didn't create you, they won't pay your bills for you.

To your shameless execution.

PoliticsOpen Letter To President Buhari On Gov Okorocha’s Activities In Imo State by olisaokere(op): 2:24pm On Oct 17, 2018
*IMO APC ELDERS’ COUNCIL*

*OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI ON GOV OKOROCHA’S ACTIVITIES IN IMO STATE*

We are constrained to use this medium to draw your attentions to the activities of Governor Rochas Okorocha in the All Progressives Congress (PC) in Imo State.
We deemed it necessary to alert you, first as the Chief Security Officer of the nation and second as the leader of the APC and to humbly ask you to call Gov. Okorocha to order to avert failure of the party in Imo State.

You are aware, You Excellency, of how loyal the party and entire people of Imo State have been to your administration. It is because of the singular love that we have for you that has stopped us from engaging in necessary actions to check the activities of the Okorocha government.

After the 2011 election that brought Gov. Okorocha to power, things have gone from bad to worse. He would have lost election in 2015, but your presence and personality gave him another four years grace. Unfortunately, Gov. Okorocha has taken Imo people for granted by trying to achieve a third term through the back door.
Mr. President, when a few months ago the governor boasted that he had secured your approval to embark upon his agenda through the surrogacy of his son-in-law, Uche Nwosu, we thought it was a huge joke. One, given your integrity as an upright man and also given the fact that Imo is a cosmopolitan state, we believed it was a pipe dream for this to happen.

However, events of the few weeks are beginning to give us concern not so much as to his capacity to actualize that dream, but the constant dropping of your name as his main backer.
When through a free and fair congress of the party, Imo people, through the delegates, took away the structure from him; he boasted that the will of the party men and women would be reversed by the presidency. True to his boast, he visited Aso Rock and upon his return, the party structure was handed over to him through a convoluted and kangaroo process. We took note of that.

Then came the part primaries. And once again, our people spoke with one voice that they don’t want anything to do with a government that has remained uncountable to them. They freely elected Senator Hope Uzodinma as the flag bearer of APC in Imo State. Again Gov. Okorocha boasted in a live television interview that he was going to Aso Rock to upturn it. The National Working Committee headed by Adams Oshiomhole ordered a fresh primary in Imo State even when a clear and undisputed governorship candidate of APC in the person of Senator Hope Uzodinma had emerged!

Mr. President, while we believe that justice will prevail in the matter, which is now in court, we also want you to take note of this particular incident. By his actions, Gov. Okorocha is telling Imo people that the presidency has approved the candidature of his son-in-law, Uche Nwosu. He used the recent visit of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to Imo State as a seal of approval from your office.
It is necessary to state here that nobody denies Uche Nwosu the right to contest the Imo governorship election if he won the primaries. The young-man knows that on his own, he would not even attempt to seek the Councillorship of his ward. But it rankles when Gov. Okorocha wants to use the young man to achieve a third tenure. It is even nauseating that the governor thinks that Imo State is his private estate and he will single handedly decide who gets what in the state.
It is not curious Your Excellency that while the governor wants to foist his son-in-law as the successor, he wants himself to go to the Senate while his blood sister will go to the House Representatives? In other words, Imo is now a monarchy where king Okorocha plays god. If Gov. Okorocha had done well in the last seven and half years, perhaps nobody would have begrudged him his fantasy.

It is not that we don’t know what to do both constitutionally and otherwise to rid ourselves of Okorocha, but we have come to you Sir, because the man is dropping your name as his backer. We are specifically asking for your intervention because we love you and would do everything to ensure that you win the 2019 presidential election.
Where upon Your Excellency, our simple prayers are:

*That you cause Gov. Okorocha to stop dropping your name.

*That you prevail on Adams Oshiomhole and NWC of APC to respect the will of Imo people who have chosen Senator Hope Uzodinma as the flag bearer of the party in the State.

*That you cause the NWC of APC to halt the violent violation of the will of the people to please Gov. Okorocha.

While we look forward to your fatherly intervention Sir, may we humbly submit that any attempt by APC NWC or any other body for that matter to assist Gov. Okorocha have his way in Imo State will be counter-productive.

We do not believe that APC will deliberately throw away Imo State because of the ambition of one man. For us, no sacrifice will be too great for us to reclaim that state from an nza, which has challenged its god to duel.

*Dr. Edmund J.K Onyebuchi*

PoliticsRe: APC Governors Are Sponsoring Daily Protests Against Oshiomhole - Nabena by olisaokere(m): 11:43am On Oct 15, 2018
nairavsdollars:
Yekini Nabena, is the Acting National Publicity Secretary of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). In this exclusive interview with TEMIDAYO AKINSUYI, he spoke on the endorsement of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by former president Olusegun Obasanjo, fallout of APC primaries and other issues of national interests. Excerpts:

There were conflicting reports over the weekend that your party has appointed a substantive National Publicity Secretary, yet there is no official statement from the party confirming that development. What is the true situation of things now?

Our party has a constitution. For you to bring in anybody into the NWC, you must follow the party’s constitution. For you to bring anybody into the Working Committee, there must be a mini-convention where the person will be elected. The position of the National Publicity Secretary is zoned to the North-Central, if there is vacancy as we have now, in that zone there must be an election; either by consensus or they go for proper election or by affirmation. I don’t have a problem because I am just serving as the publicity secretary in acting capacity. Once a substantive publicity secretary is elected or affirmed, I revert back to my position as Deputy National Publicity Secretary. For the man making noise in Kwara, first of all they don’t even have a state executive council. They don’t have an exco from the ward level to the state. So, how are they going to vote in the first place? So, instead of this man going around making noise, he should go back to the party’s constitution and see the processes that should be followed before his emergence. I believe the party should just do the right thing so as to avoid court cases, litigations and so on.

Former president Olusegun Obasanjo last week endorsed the presidential candidate of the PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar for the 2019 presidential race. Do you see that as a threat to President Muhammadu Buhari’s chances?

To me, it is not a threat because going down memory lane; it is the same Obasanjo that said if he ever forgives Atiku, that God will be angry with him. For him to have said that and now turnaround to say he has forgiven him, definitely, God will deal with him. I have been following Obasanjo and to me, he is not a person that is qualified to say anything about Nigeria because he is one of the people that destroyed this country and brought us to the situation we are today. For those who know Obasanjo, anytime he fights, it is about his selfish interests. This is a man who was opportune to rule Nigeria as a military Head of State and eight years as civilian president but for selfish interests, he wanted to change our constitution so he can get third term. What good does that kind of man has to offer this country? He likes everything to be according to his dictates. This is a man who dumped the PDP and said he is quitting partisan politics. Later, he formed a party called ADC. When the party didn’t fly and he realises that he is becoming politically irrelevant, he runs back to the PDP. My advice to Obasanjo is that if he wants to be an elder statesman let him be and based on his experience; let him look at the positive sides and advice the people of Nigeria.

Some people claimed everyone Obasanjo has supported in the race for presidency ended up winning, do you see this happening in 2019 with his support for Atiku ?

He has never supported anybody to win. What he does is that he always look at when the people are already winning. He will now jump into it and say the person won because of him. No! He has never supported people to win. If that is the case, why couldn’t he support himself to win Third term in office? His tactics has always been when he realizes that things are going in one particular direction, he quickly jumps into it and issues a statement then people will now think that he is the one responsible for the victory. Obasanjo is a man without principles. This is a man who tore his PDP membership card and said all sorts of negative things about his party. An old man like that is now swallowing his vomit. We respect him as an elderstatesman but let him also respect himself.

Are you surprised with the level of acceptance PDP is receiving from Nigerians despite the fact that they were voted out less than four years ago?

I am worried and this is because a lot of people in the PDP because of the corrupt aspect of it are afraid of President Buhari coming back to office for second term. They know that if he returns, many of them will go to jail. So, what we have now is that all the corrupt politicians and Generals are now ganging up so that President Buhari will not return and they will have access to spending all the monies they have corruptly enriched themselves with because they are afraid of jail. What is happening now is clearly a case of corruption fighting back. Who are the owners of oil blocks in the country today? Are they not PDP members? They know that by the time their licences expire, this government will not renew it unless they are ready to follow due process. That is why these people are fighting in every way possible to make sure that APC don’t come back to government but they are not God. God has a purpose for bringing Buhari at this point in time and we must allow the will of God to prevail.

Given a free, fair and credible election, do you see Atiku winning the 2019 presidential election?

As far as I am concerned, I don’t think Atiku can defeat President Buhari in a free, fair and credible contest. Talking of records, I don’t see what Atiku has to offer Nigerians. He was in the saddle for eight years as Vice- President. During Obasanjo’s first term as president, Atiku was the one running the country. They all sat down and sold Nigeria’s assets to their cronies. They set up the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) and sold all government’s institutions to themselves. Is this the kind of man Nigerians want to bring into government? Look at Atiku today clamouring for restructuring. He was in the system for eight years but you did not restructure, so what do you want to tell Nigerians now? Look at the amount of monies he spent to secure the PDP ticket. The presidency of Nigeria is not for sale. People thought Atiku has money. No, he doesn’t have the kind of money Nigerians thought he has and I challenge Nigerians to investigate this. Most of these monies he is spending are loans from banks which he will recoup and pay back if he gets into office before he now thinks of the masses. Nigerians must be careful so as not to return looters into power.

Your party has been enmeshed in one controversy or another following the outcome of your primaries in some states. Daily, there are reports of people coming to the National Secretariat to protest and even the First Lady, Aisha Buhari also voiced out her opinion against the primaries accusing the national chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole of impunity. How will you react to this?

It is very simple. When you conduct primaries between A and B. If you give it to A, B will complain. If you give to B, A will also complain. That is exactly what is going on within the APC and it is everywhere including the advanced countries. The only thing is that in the advanced countries, instead of launching protests or resort to abuse, they go to court. The problem in APC is also because the party chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has insisted that he will not tolerate any form of impunity from any party members again, irrespective of their positions. He doesn’t want to rely on state governors for funds to run the party and that is why we got money from the sale of forms during the primaries. The era where governors will gather and impose their will on the party is gone. This time, Oshiomhole has entrenched party supremacy and that is why the governors are complaining. An outgoing governor wants to bring a successor and at the same time wants to be a senator but people said they don’t want to vote for his candidate. It becomes a problem. Some of them are even threatening the party chairman. These governors shouldn’t think they have the rights to appoint successors as if they are appointing personal aides. Let the people decide who will lead them in their states. Look at what the Niger state governor is doing; sending people to Abuja to come and protest. Is that how a governor should behave? This is the first time things are done the right way they should be done, not the way the governors wanted it. The governors are the ones sponsoring all these protests because the party is not doing their bidding.

Exercise in futility!

If Hope Uzodinma is popular as he claims, why did he defect from the PDP to APC after Okorocha singlehandedly built APC from the scratch?

Why can't he try other parties in Imo State and ask for votes?
You simply dont know what you talking about.who told you Rochas single handedly built APC from scratch??first off,it is worthy to note that Rochas joined APC from APGA under which party he got his mandate as Governor of Imo State. When he defected to APC he even abandoned his own followers within the same APC party and they were dying in anguish.all he was interested in was acquiring wealth for himself and family alone.Ararume came and revived the APC party that rochas abandoned its followers even though he had to leave for APGA after citing the partys national leadership, particularly oshiomole isnt ready to salvage the situation because of rochas is his friend who also campaigned agressively for him to be the APC national chairman. How come 80% of imo APC faithful are against okorocha and his policies??why do you think these major stake holders in imo are fighting day and night to make sure rochas doenst impose his preferred choice of candidate on imolites??Imo lites have suffered tremendously under the leadership of Rochas.Look let me tell you.Rochas may or may not have his way to force down the throats of imolites with Uche Nwosu becoming the APC guber flag bearer.but he will not win the general elections and that will affect APC big time unless they will rig as usual. You want to tell me that those whose lands have been forcefully taken away from them, those whose only source of living has been squashed, those markets that have been destroyed, people relocating to their villages as a result of the governments fraudulent urban renewal will vote for uche nwosu as APC guber canditate?please go to imo state.the place is a complete mess!!
