When Rochas was campaigning for him aggressively to take over from Oyegun,i knew there would be problem!

The Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere, has taken exception to the result of the purported governorship primary election rerun, where the unknown persons parading themselves as committee apportioned votes to him, describing same as monumental fraud.
He described the action of Governor Rochas Okorocha led election committee as not only mischievous but morally unacceptable.

Prince Madumere reminded the purported committee of the resolution of Imo All Progressives Congress Stakeholders (Coalition) not to go into any repeat of primary elections owing to the fact that the leadership, aspirants and members of the our great party were never consulted albeit informed of any election.

However, last Friday, October 5, 2018, Six of the governorship aspirants jointly addressed newsmen, informing the leadership of the party and Nigerians at large that they stand by October 1, 2018 governorship election conducted by Alhaji Ahmed Gulak led Committee where Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma came first followed by the Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere.

It will also be recalled that yesterday, October 6, 2018, at the Party headquarters, 6 aspirants who are, Prince Eze Madumere, Senator Hope Uzodinma, Sir Jude Ejiogu, Sir George Eche, Chief Chris Nlemoha and Commodore Peter Gbujie (rtd), reiterated their stance to boycott the election following the fact that they were unaware of the purported primary elections and because of the pendency of legal suit, originating summon and motion of interlocutory injunction from a court competent jurisdiction, Abuja restraining any further APC primary elections in the State until the determination of the matter before it.

The Deputy Governor therefore wondered why impunity has continued to rein supreme in the State unabated. He therefore took exception to allotments of votes to them having opted out, an act he described as fraud.

Meanwhile, he also averred that their group of 6 aspirants has been vindicated as Governor Okorocha’s brother-in-law, Chief Chuks Ololo who also pulled out of the purported exercise, wondering why Imo All Progressives Congress governorship primary election should be between Governor Okorocha’s son-in-law, Mr. uche Nwosu and his estate Manager, Mr. Chima Anozie

Chairman, Senate Committee on Navy, Senator Isa Hamma Misau, has stated that the Presidency should be ashamed that it is pushing the conspiracy script that top officials of the nation’s security apparatus are working for the Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki.

Reacting to the EFCC statement that debunked the allegations credited to the Senior Special Assistant to the President, Babafemi Ojudu, that the EFCC was working in tandem with Saraki, Misau said that both the APC Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole and Ojudu, were spinning the same conspiracy theory to hide the lack of coordination and discipline amongst the security agencies.

“The EFCC’s statement confirms our immediate reaction that both Ojudu and Oshiomhole have been reading from the same conspiracy script.

“Nigerians find it unthinkable that Magu, that the Senate refused to confirm — whose EFCC has also prosecuted Saraki for over 3 years at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) would now turn around and start working for this same Saraki. How is this possible?

“These people think that they can just wake up, think up conspiracy theories and try to sell it to Nigerians, but the public is smarter and more discerning than their shallow fictitious narratives", the Senator stated.

Misau also stated that the APC and Ojudu should be ashamed of indicting the Presidency in such an explicit fashion.

“In any case, shouldn't they be ashamed to even claim that the entire internal security institutions in the country are working for someone else other than the person that appointed them? “Additionally, at what point did they decipher this? Was it before the siege on the National Assembly or after?

“What this goes to show is that in their desperate bid to blame someone else for their crime and incompetence, these people no longer have a sense of shame,” the Senator said.

Misau further amplified the call for an independent judicial panel of inquiry into the National Assembly siege, stating that any other investigation would be seen as biased and flawed in the eyes of Nigerians and the international community.



“In this regard, we hereby reiterate the call for independent judicial panel of inquiry into the invasion. Any other such investigation into the matter would constitute another attempt by these same people to present a biased perspective to the assault on our nation’s democracy and its highest lawmaking body,” Misau stated.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has exercised a U-turn in its position on the development at the National Assembly on Tuesday.

State Security Service (SSS) operatives were joined by police officers to prevent lawmakers from accessing the parliament for several hours on Tuesday morning.

Following widespread media attention and outrage from Nigerians, as well as attempts by furious lawmakers to break into the premises, the security agents ultimately allowed access to the National Assembly. But the access was only granted to serving lawmakers. All other members of staff at the National Assembly, as well as journalists and other independent observers were denied entry.

The siege lasted until late afternoon when SSS operatives stood down after receiving reports that Acting President Yemi Osinbajo did not authorise the deployment and had fired the director-general of the secret police, Lawal Daura, as a consequence.

The APC joined other individuals, groups and even foreign diplomatic missions to condemn the attack on Tuesday night.

The party described the security agencies’ action at the time as an “unfortunate invasion” and dissociated itself from “any act of brigandage and affront on the sacred symbols of our budding democracy.”

But this morning, another statement came in from the party, which essentially contradicted its position yesterday. The party said Mr Saraki was the one who orchestrated the plot, and that security agencies only moved in to prevent any outbreak of violence.

The APC statements, the first at 6:41 p.m. on Tuesday and the second at 8:02 a.m. on Wednesday are reproduced respectively as follows:

How Security Operatives Stopped Saraki’s Plan to Foment Violence over Impeachment

Following Tuesday’s incident at the National Assembly, our investigations have now uncovered the sinister plot hatched by the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki to foment violence in the legislative chamber all in a bid to stop his impeachment.

Our investigations uncovered and noted the following:

We are now aware that the timely intervention of the security operatives forestalled the planned violence which could have led to possible deaths, injuries and destruction of property in the National Assembly on Tuesday.

Why did the Senate President mobilise thugs to the National Assembly who almost lynched Hon. E.J. Agbonayinma, the only APC federal lawmaker present but for the timely intervention of security operatives.

Why did the Senate President reconvene the National Assembly? Ostensibly as a pre-emptive move to frustrate federal lawmakers move to impeach him.

Is it not curious that only Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) federal lawmakers were present in their numbers-some as early as 7am, while the majority APC federal lawmakers were elsewhere holding a caucus meeting on the state of the nation.

We call on security agencies and relevant bodies to as a matter of urgency probe these findings and take all necessary and legitimate action to stop these illegalities which pose a direct and ominous threat to our democracy.

As espoused in our earlier statement, whilst our contention with the leadership of the National Assembly as currently constituted is a matter of public record, we still believe that the legislature as an independent arm of government must be allowed free reign for vibrant contestation of ideas and values amongst its members within the context of their constitutional mandate and for the benefit of the Nigerian people.

Finally, we reiterate our call for the Senate President to resign from the position immediately as he no longer has the moral and legitimate ground to occupy that position as a member of the minority PDP. Going by the popular axiom, ‘the majority will have their way, but the minority will have their say’.
