When was the ussd thing scrapped? I’m sure it was in full effect as late as 2/3 weeks ago.

I doubt it is charged per session but per ussd menu that loads up.

I’ve had N22 on my phone before but after going through all the processes of transferring on Ecobank, it told me at the end that “the request cannot be completed because you don’t have enough airtime” so it definitely was not per session. I’m sure of that because I had to pay a merchant the day it happened and I was being hurried.

It actually got scrapped yesterday. Apparently, the MD made the declaration at a fintech conference yesterday.

Mr. Patrick Akinwuntan, the Managing Director, Ecobank Nigeria said Ecobank in its bid to promote and enhance financial inclusion would scrap the USSD charges for its customers henceforth.
He also charged other banks to follow suit and added that if there are no charges, Nigeria could attain 90 percent financial inclusion.

Its my salary account and my only bank account that has an ATM card attached to it so I rely on this for most of my transactions. I will be switching to GTBank I use email alerts for this account and they are quite efficient, I hardly have failed transactions.

Well, I can't say about GTB. Although I have an account with them, I hardly ever use it as my Ecobank accounts (Salary Account and Savings Account) have been superb. Funny enough I was having a discussion with one of my friends who works with a financial institution and maybe I should just share our chats. Second thought, naaah.

Hopefully, the issue with sms gets solved and you get back to enjoying Ecobank... Cheers boss!

If you have any issue with Ecobank (or any other bank for that matter), it's in your best interest u reach the bank on any of the aforementioned customer service points (Branch, Social Media handles, Call Centre-07005000000, Livechat on Mobile App and Web) for amicable resolution. That would be a better alternative than giving the bank (or any other bank) a bad name.

Under the account section, there is a mini statement for both of my accounts. Every deduction or addition that happens on my account, I'm notified so I can always trace every penny. And so far so good, I have never been either overly charged or charged without explanation.
