PoliticsRe: 2023: Tinubu, Buhari Agreed On Power Shift To South West - Tunde Balogun by omanzo02: 8:50am On Dec 13, 2020
Kaduna1stson:
The Amotekun is a surprise which the south west sprung on us to intimidate the north. It was not part of any agreement. This Amotekun issue can make us shift our support to a North central candidate like Yahaya bello if Tinubu cannot call his people to order.
The South West is a geopolitical region, they are free and should be free to set up whatever system they considered fit to guarantee their security and safety.
I think the North is also free and should be free to set up theirs to sort the insecurity problem out.

Some people have ended up abandoning their lofty projects while waiting.

Let’s ask ourselves a simple question “Where do we start from?”

Is it the POP cement? Or OPC cement? Or cost aluminium profiles?
Every business will definitely have one excuse or the other as a line of defense.

Project owners should either scale down or forge ahead and accept whatever amount as the price to pay for the project. Believe me, that’s what I do on my personal projects.

Even when authorities clamp down on filling stations, has it really fixed anything in this country?

______
I’m stocking up Supafix till you all will start looking for it someday grin grin

A lot of people are still doubting the alternatives despite the fact that I didn’t produce it in my room grin

This is Nigeria!
If Nigeria herself, her rules and regulations are working the businesses will not have any excuse to give....For example here, many businesses that flaunted the corona/lockdown rules were either shutdown or the owner arrested and charged to court or get a fine that could bankrupt your business.

Believe me, they will make big national news out of it to tell those yet to be detected there are consequences flaunting rules and indulgence in unfair competition, what makes it so interesting is when the law caught up with you in any form the consequences will affect you for life, criminal and personal data can be accessed from any local government or federal institution, all future applications will treated with scepticism or outright refusal.

They don't waste time in sending detectives into the field to confirm the populace cry, the man buying cement from you could be a detective armed with document, audio and video evidence to take you out of business and lock you up for life, they don't joke with economy sabotage!

I stated this days ago, that many projects have been discontinued.

Yes, some are still ongoing due to Nigerian's ruggedness to succeed
Some projects will continue because some already have their plans set out, I for example already intended finishing the current phase I am before end of 2020, to move to the next phase from January 2021, so staying focused is not betrayal and protest suspension of project will make little or no changes to the situation....it will only get better when constituted authorities goes hunting them down.

I really wish there are many client like you who would listen and absolve their engineers/builders of all blames.
Hey! You don't need to be a professional to apply common sense to issues, even in an organised situation/environment there are slight percentage of chances things could go wrong too.... Builders/engineers are client of the market and whatever goes on is beyond their control. Both belongs to the same victims boat.

Well, it’s good (or let me say fair) you’re experiencing this as a homeowner and not as a contractor/builder.

Imagine you’re a builder/engineer receiving fund from a client in diaspora and all these happened, what will you do?
Some of these things are what contractors/engineers experience on projects.

_____
Inform the client the changes in the market and advice him to check or investigate your statements/claim independently, it's not the builders fault price hike or inflation took place.
When my engineer tried to advice me to stock for my work @ ₦3000 per bag, I played deaf.....I later bought for ₦4100, am I going to blame him? NO!

You deliver to Delta State then? They are neighbours.

But the adhesive is newly introduced into the market.

You won’t even get it in the regular market yet except maybe from few selected projects/channel partners in Lagos.
Adhesive is suitable for already flatten floors or walls, the ones we have here has waterproofing qualities to act also as a layer between the tiles/granites and the concrete wall/brick/block wall. They uses cement if the house is a heated floor system and simultaneously tiling & flooring (tiling and floor slab works goes simultaneously), cement and adhesive are available in different colour to suit your preference and tile colour, some are specially made for indoor and outdoor.
Note: modern floor heating uses slim pipes or heating element that accommodate the use of normal layer adhesive.

No.

I’m working with the adhesive in another project. I’ll share pics later.

Regardless of your flooring, you don’t need to waste your fund screeding/leveling the floor. A watery mix of OPC and the tiles adhesive is what we are using on this project.
I see, the colours between the tiles is lighter, doesn't seem like normal cement, probably the bond mixture or camera light reflection.

How do you cope with snow?
SUV is not immune against snow slip, you can perfectly drive on snow with a normal car....I don't live where severity of snow fall are rampant. With winter tyres and tire chains you can drive up snowy hill without problem but it requires maneuver skills though.

Abeg no vex. Which one be moisture theories regarding tiling?
Moisture Theory is the general assertion that kitchens, toilets and bathrooms must be tiled from the floor to the ceiling to prevent water or moisture from getting into walls.
I believe in the theory of as long the space is well ventilated, the right primer and paints used only wet area requires tiles...... it's a interior deco in practice where I am and it WILL also work in Nigeria, I prefer a lively interior not a shrine!

I thought I am crazy or something is wrong with my thinking. Tiles every where it was driving me nut. I was considering hard wood but the pricing I saw here seems to make it out of reach. How can I justify spending about $10,000 (#4million) on the flooring of 100 sqm. At least that was what was posted here as the cost of hardwood flooring of 100 sqm few days ago. That is about #40,000 per sqm.
No body can convince me to do that crazy tiling, when I get to that stage I will retain the tile format I have in Europe, to hell with their outdated moisture theories.

May God help us and save this country for the sake of genuine hustlers

Took the strong steps of just closing my eyes

Bought 200 bags of cement @₦3200 (Lafarge)
Bought 100 bags of POP cement @₦9,000
Bought 50 Glova Paint
Bought 12 Vinko bond
More than enough original Coleman Cables (1.5mm, 2.5mm and 4mm)

The amount spent alone today is enough to complete a foundation for a 4 bedroom bungalow in some parts of NIGERIA

huh
Lucky you! I got it for ₦4100.

If the price of Plasterboard and POP cement are beyond me, I’ll go for exposed beam joist ceiling.

Naija can’t hold me to ransom cool
Houses with beam joist ceiling worth a fortune here, a potential european buyer is willing to drop his €€€ to acquire such building, it's classic and preserves their old technology of building houses, however maintenance and renovation work are costly.
They are still very popular in German countryside houses, mix of old and new technology, in some houses the woods for the beams are dated over 1000 years ago.

Turkish airlines can only transit in Istanbul because they fly with Turkish flag and not British flag, unless if they are working with British airways. As long you have a through pass to your bcountry of destination you don't need a transit visa for Turkish airlines.

Cement is still 2450 direct from factory. The inflation was from distributors.

How do I know?

In my project site, cement for all civil works is still 2450 per bag but the cement sold to block makers is now 3150 per bag.

Same Site, Same Product, Different Pricing.
That's what you get when a country have no serious control measures to check hoarding, racketing and unlawful price hike, in saner climes the police must have sealed the shops/deport up by now, charged them before a judge, make them a national news and loose their licence to operate for life.

Better option(the bolded part). That is why baba Latin bricklayer always have problem with architect on site!...baba Latin will be like "we have been doing it like this for long, e no mean" undecided
I am also in the engineering sector but not civil engineering so I engage expert in that field to handle what they are good at, discussion with an architect/civil engineer goes easier because we can communicate and make argument logically base on realistic fact and proven cases. I give him my expectations and benchmarks, I prefer he/she works with his bricklayers, iron bender, helpers, mixers etc to achieve the set goals so that if anything goes wrong I know who to hold responsible.
Because a bricklayer says he has been doing something for long doesn't mean he has been doing it right or qualified or doesn't equate him to an architect. I am not against artisanship or on the job skill/craft acquisition, for me safety and detail analysis matters.

I had advocated a waiting game, but developers are sometimes impatient and will need to spend that money before they lose it. But, do we see a future in this country where these prices will reverse significantly? So that we will not have to wait forever. A lot of buildings became abandoned projects just because people waited.

So my next strategy is to stock. I have turned some sections of my properties to stores where I will be parking lots of building materials iron rods, plastic pipes for plumbing and electrical, wires, keys and locks, nails, binding wires, wooden boards, house finish items and even tiles. Just anything that will not expire in a year.
Seems a better strategy the way things are going, my builder tried to encourage me to stock when cement was ₦3000, I felt we could buy when it's time, when I was ready it was ₦4000 and scarce to find.

I saw different designs and colours of aluminium longspan, that creates a SIMPLE but outstanding rooftops view, I notice the ceiling are mostly insulated gyproc/plasterboard.
I was hoping insulated aluminium longspan should be available in Nigeria by now, it's more suitable for our weather, we have them on one of our warehouse, they are heat and cold proof ( cool in the summer and warm in the winter)
