Baba, the thing dey!

A bank in Orile Ilugun will never forget their experience.

I wouldn’t know if they’ve been able to carry away the door of the vault from where they thieves left it on the main road.
The vault door was there for several years and till date no one can understand how the thieves carried it without using a crane.

If you take a travel down to Orile Ilugun along Abeokuta road, Oyo state you can ask the resident about this story.
It's possible, that's the job of a carefully planned and executed vault heist!

Really. Make them enter bank in the night where they don't need much effort to find raw loot. Usually the only security they would encounter is two police officers, then they can use the juju to locate, access, and open the vault and behold raw loot.

Millions of punters play daily or weekly lotto in Nigeria, America, Europe etc. Would the juju not be effective in winning these lotto. Weekly Euromillion jackpot runs in hundreds of millions at times. Why not come and apply juju to win these raw cash. Does these juju owners or their armed robber patrons dont want to get rich?? Just asking!!
About 97% believed juju or whatever dark power exist, even educated people find it difficult to extract themselves from that belief.

Hmm!

We don’t know who ordered the shooting.
We also can’t get footage of LCC CCTV 5 days after the event.

This is Nigeria!
This will be swept under the carpet like all other incidents that happened, the culprits will go unmasked and unpunished.
If you know how this things work the order definitely comes from defence headquarter and Buratai got clearance from the presidency(Buhari), the Lagos State governor can't pretend he doesn't know shots were about to be fired!. They only need to get a unit of the military to do the dirty job.
The incident is generating international interest and every country are watching what the Nigeria government are going to do, the good news is all countries recognised they were unarmed peaceful protesters and has evidence the Nigeria soldiers did it and nobody is believing the fake news mantra of the federal government.
Nigeria is just a few steps away from full blown revolution!

I am talking generally.....because anything that happened unconsciously we attribute to undisputed supernatural forces.

Definitely man! Because I know 90% of the 4 dimensions of human activities (physical, emotional, energy, mental) are done unconsciously and 1% are done conciously inwardly and outwardly, and everything will looks accidental and divine intervention. Same thing as how unconscious you are will determine how much of your destiny is accidental and anything accidental we always want to attribute to some extraordinary forced elsewhere.

There is nothing like Juju, there are no invisible or dark forces that put anyone to sleep ....he may be a heavy or deep sleeper... it's only chemical mixture that react with the blood to ignite semi and fully unconscious mode, it could be in form of oral or internal adminstration.

I agree. It depends on the project.

The best practice is to wait until the weight of the roof before plastering the walls to reduce cracking.

If it’s a load bearing wall, it’s better to wait until the roof has been installed before plastering or when the mansory work has attained its maximum strength.

However if it is frame structure, you can start soon as possible as the additional weight of plastering is very insignificant.

If you’re doing a flat roof design, it’s better to plaster the parapet walls first before roofing.

So in all, it’s better to keep the house water-tight before rendering/plastering the walls. Roofing before plastering is the best plractice.

______
In abnormal situations though, we’ve plastered before roofing.

Pic 1: Plastering parapet wall (Flat Roof Design)
How would you call the system where the structure and block work are done simultaneously?

I still have a dream that one day, we all will be able to enjoy our homes burglary proof free.. grin

Man, I don't like staying in my own house... it makes me feel trapped. I have never been in jail before, staying in my house makes me feel like I am in prison or in a house arrest grin, metal door, burglary proofs everywhere angry

Could you imagine living in a house like this (picture..below)....

Enjoying your environment, soaking up all that views etc... grin those natural lights , sitting out , telling your kids, grandkids , niece, nephews, cousins about your war stories grin grin how this all started, reminiscing some glory days... grin

.. that will be nice..
Unfortunately, Nigeria houses will have to do with burglary proof for the next 30 years or more, The security situation is too precarious to take the risk without one. Until Nigeria embrace community policing, restructured and equipped police service, prosperous economic climate, massive personal and public job creation, good educational system, better public utilities and most importantly mentality therapy etc, the security situation will never change.

The quality of glasses we have in Nigeria are also poor, in the pictures most of the glasses are treated and don't charter with one bang, the street, public transport, private compound are littered with security cameras that makes it easy to trace and identify suspect of burglar incident, fire and theft insurance is also security that ensure victims are compensated for their damages or property lost.

Yes, it's liberating and gives sense of freedom to live in a house without burglary, no dark curtain to shield indoor.

Sometimes we install burglary proof in soft target in the house, especially backdoors or hidden entrances.

Hello All,
Hope we are all safe!
Pls, do I need to do parapet dressing before roofing the house? My bricklayer just brought this to my notice after wood work of the roofing is done.
I noticed Spyder880 does roofing before parapet dressing in one of his project, the guy is an experienced builder, if he followed that sequence then it could be a good idea.

Any day, any time I will always choose non-brand names over those big brand names in Nigeria.

Expensive roof without great installer is still a bad roof.

I’ve not done any business with money121 but I’ve known him for a very long time (when Lekki Gardens was just getting started). The truth is “His installations are always outstanding and that’s what make a great roof, not the expensive price tag.”

I’ve bought roofs from the biggest brand names in Nigeria and I’ve not seen anything unique to make them better than the other brands (that I’ve tested and used).

#MyPersonalOpinionHere
Brand is just a name, for me, once the quality of materials and technology used conformed with the requirements I will gladly buy it, I bought a Kobo kobo Topcraft high pressure cleaner because I knew the technology and quality is from Karcher which is very expensive.
Big brand = pay big for using my name

If it's for rental, people tend to love the idea of "living on top". Maybe because of they want to see more of their environment outside as most bungalows in Nigeria are fenced in like prisons. I will rent an apartment on top faster than an apartment below.
I have been doing stair for ages man! I am beginning to hate "living on top", even with numerous lift options available I still prefer bungalow. Prison fence won't deter anyone once you are a target, plain view itself is security and any suspicious movement or incident can easily attract alarm.

true but the much needed infrastructure is not there.we talking robotics when things as simple as steady electricity is not there not to talk of the internet wifi etc
Anything less of steady energy supply would be progress in futility.
The world is moving toward synchronised network system, where things are remotely control from distance. During the lockdown children were following visual lectures at home with their teachers/lecturers, if there is steady power supply Nigeria students could have benefited with the same system and wouldn't have be lagging behind as the case now.

Wheew! My niece and nephews do go out of state for robotics competition.. this kids are 12 -14 years old, their school even traveled to Japan to compete. I was quite mesmerized when I attended one of their events.. I couldn't believe little kids that young could put things like that together...

But in 9ja a final year student or even graduate student could put two pans together with a wheel barrow tire and aye yeah!! They built a car grin

Our government are nose deep in oil.. politicians empower youths with goats, sewing machine and Keke napep.

O laud have mercy on us!
It's frustrating you have a text book but no equipment to practice with describe typical Nigeria's education.

These are common practices in the west....may not be feasible for small naija builders...additional cost of hiring cranes or lifts ...celsa steel very popular in Scandinavian region

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WT5ydI1pBXA
There are daily lift or crane hire if you want to move heavy materials up, I think the use of steel mat or steel net for concrete or decking work is feasible for small builders and could save them time.
Materials dealers need embrace new system of building procedures to make it a common practice in Nigeria.

If yes, I need a contact.
Thanks.

And again, this technology could knock off a lot of iron/structural guys out of work.
I don't know if they are available in Nigeria,
Not really, the iron and structural guy will be trained to do the job in the factory, when changes are made the group of people affected are trained and absorbed to drive the new system, it's all win win situation.

Oh , it is well!!
They have gone very far ahead technologically, every move is always about more job creation for more welders, builders, technicians, transportation, materials dealers etc, that's why there's job after school and school dropout alike. Every year the always find ways to expand to accommodate more people.

Very bad welding (expensive too) and not the best practice. I actually used them for experimental purpose then (precast coping)

I knew I’ve met the guys supplying those mesh reinforcements here before but I can’t remember where.

If I’m able to lay my hand on this rebar tier, I’ll be just fine:

Propaan + electric welding set gives a better results than electrode, electrode need special techniques to handle .
Tiers doesn't come cheap, that little machine is very very very expensive.

Edit
_____
It’s normally used for load-bearing floors and roof slabs (I know HFP use this for their roofs)
Here it's used for foundations, load bearing slab, storey floor decking works, road construction etc, small scale factory and professional welder produced for projects but it most of them are factory made.
