Emmanuel602: if its realyWhen have laws ever been appropriately aplied in this country?? If this sees the light of day, then we can as well bid farewell to free speech in the country. This is where the oposition should make their presence in the assembly count, by blocking this clearly anti-people legislation. Whatever hapened to working on a bill that proposes very stiff punishment for corrupt public servants?? The oposition in the NASS are realy begining to piss me off! |

emma bowin: There's every possibility that oshiomole might have asked the woman not to attend the widow's empowerment programme. And there's every posibility your brain isn't screwed on tight. |
So angry words fail me. |
Will give you an appropriate response when you're done. |
Mabunga Tukur, 'you won't be missed'! |
This is what ASUU should have done from the onset, expose the lies being fed the nigerian public so they could channel their frustrations and anger in the right direction. |
Another excercise that would end up in futility. |
derespect: Thank God we are not the in the first 100. I see hope in Nigeria.Oga look well. We are in the first 40! |
Rubish! The stats was rigged. We are being denied our rightful position as the most corrupt in the world. I'm highly disapointed in TI. |
Though the PDP disgusts me, i think this is an old article we've dealt with before. This was Asari before he became 'born again'. |
ASUU says stay at home. Who's gonna conduct and invigilate the exams? Who's gonna moderate the papers? If the students leave home for school and any harm (God forbid) comes opon them, the govt should be held responsible. |
If the govt sincerely wants to see an end to this strike, it could be called off tomorow. These underhand tactics of force, blackmail, and propaganda aren't gonna help the situation. You entered into an agreement that has been documented, you pledged and swore to abide by the terms of the agreement, but you refuse to append your signature to the document. If that isn't treachery and deciet then i don't know what is. Besides, have the govt realy thought of the implications of a lecturer carrying out his primary assignment under duress assuming their tactic of using force succeeds? Imagine a lecturer teaching students with a prejudiced mind... He could decide to tell them 2+2 equals 22 and so on... At the end the students bear the brunt of the govt's foolishness. |
fast guy 10: 2 Hell wt ASUUI can understand your frustration. You truely do need an education. Your english is quite telling. |
If this is true then unn has made an unimaginable blunder and imperiled the security of the jobs of the lecturers. They should pray they never have any issues with the govt cos the solidarity they stand to enjoy from sister universities have, by this ill informed action, been completely destroyed. Time will tell. |
Another uppercut for the least respected president in the history of humankind. |
Chidera Favour: I don't understand the stand of federal government again, what is too hard in what ASUU have said? Fg promised to be giving ASUU 220b yearly for five years and ASUU accepted it just that it must be in written form and sign by different corporation(central Bank and co.), secondly, their four months salary must be paid to them. Then if government is really serious about Nigerian student why can't they pay ASUU their four months salary and let the suposed corporation to sign the agreement? And everybody is busy pouring blame and insult on ASUU, please lets call a spade a spade. Okay even if they succeed in sacking all the lecturers and employ new ones won't they be paying them? won't they be spending in renovating schools if the need arise? Yes I am 200L student been affecting by this strike but am not siding government in this things, I don't see anything too hard in those ASUU's conditionsThank you jare. I pitty those students taking sides with the govt. This is the most morally debased govt we've ever had in this country. What is the essence of calling off a four months old industrial action if it doesnt achieve its objective at the end? The govt hurriedly released and disbursed 30bill in erned allowances hoping 'once you put money in the greedy men's pockets, they'd go back to the classrooms'. But to their utter shock and disapointment, the strike isnt just about money in the pockets! It's about good hostels, adequate lecture rooms, well equiped labs and libraries, aestetically pleasing campuses, and the general welbeing of the universites. These are issues the govt would rather not want the average nigerian to have so they can perpertually maintain the posture of gods in our eyes and should they depart the world, their children, whom they sent abroad to acquire the best education the world can offer, could take over from where they left off leaving us with no chance of taking leadership positions. This explains why they would rather maintain status quo. Giving us the best would pose a threat to their lifestyle, cos nigerians would then be able to distinguish between good and bad. ASUU isnt making any new demands as wike, okukpe et al have been lieing to nigerians. What they ask for is that govt signs the agreement both parties reached, simple. |
wrench: 42 signed that the strike should be called off, fine... But conditions were laid down. Let FG fulfill does conditions. Simple. I on my own don't trust the FG.thank you my brother! The govt always stops short of telling the whole truth, and a half-truth is a lie! They feed the public with all manner of lies and sadly most people believe them. Why not tell the public 42 chapters voted to end the strike IF the govt holds its end of the bargain? If the govt sincerely wishes to fulfill the terms of the agreement, what is so difficult in signing the document?? These are the issues the public is unaware of and i hate it ASUU isn't telling them. And to hell with the 13hrs meeting. Why should the strike be called off simply because some blockheads sat down for 13hrs with erudite intelectuals? If anything, the president and his band of cheerleaders should count themselves priviledged to be granted audience by people who obviously are above their league. Of what relevance is the length of a meeting if it bears no good results? If one were to go by their warped logic, why dont jo go sit with the leaders of boko haram, which poses an existential threat to this country, for 13hrs and have them lay down their arms?? Useless retrogresive scums. |
Nigerians are too damn docile! |
drnoel: careful what u believe. Those people at 247 reporters lie worse then sahara reporter so unless it comes out on all Nigerian dailies I refuse to believeTruth is we all choose to believe what we want to believe irrespective of the source. |
In Nigeria, vice is virtue. If found guilty, the worst that can be done is an 'administrative caution' and afterwards he goes on to enjoy his largease. |
Habidab: This thread is really disturbing, why are you guys blabing each other like this,we are all matured and we should post sense in here.please am using this means to tell those guy causing each others fathere please stop it and let peace rain. You are embarasing yourself, frankly. |
thepathologist: FG has power to hire and fire. labour law allows for sack of workers. so lecturers can be sacked and asked them to reapply again. ASUU is going gaga and is annoying.very soon ASUU will demand for mr president to resign. it is high time fg tames ASUU if will mean closing university for a year.Talk is cheap. |
Lie from the pit of hell!!! I watched the press conference and at no point did wike make any statement that suggests he was echoing the decision of anyone but the fed govt. They have realized their tactic of using threats wouldnt work and wanna blame the goof on someone else. If jo had even lied it was from ''assoc of Pro Chancellors'' it would have sounded slightly convincing, but to say that was coming from Vice Chancellors is taking a lie to an extreme! Shame on you jonathan! And do we now assume Wike doubles as spokesman for the association? |
What is this man saying?? Who gives a fucck if it is the shortest or longest meeting you've had since you were born?? What is important is what was discussed and the agreement that was reached. So dont bore us with unnecesary renditions of how the union was given the previlege to sit with you over long hours. Tell nigerians why after arising from a meeting in which a resolution was reached, and the minutes of the meeting was duely captured and signed by both parties, sudenly becomes a sticking point overnight. You people go on air feeding nigerians with falsehood but some of us know better. You raise a memo which delibrately omitted salient features of the resolution yet you think you would bambozle the lecturers back to the classrooms using you attack dog Wike. Sometimes i realy dont even blame the govt, rather i blame ASUU for keeping mum and constantly puting themselves on the defensive. ASUU should write and publish the true position of thing and expose this vile govt for what it truely is. And why does this president keep sounding like a todler whenever he talks? |
Pitty. |
I endorse the article but the title of the thread takes the shine of it. |
manny4life: Lol...You should be laughing at yourself bro. It is ''involves'' in this case and not involve. And dont you go ''it's a typo'' cos it is nothing but an actual reflection of your true self. Uneducated. |
ballabriggs: You are the one who is ignorant here. He has not argued that households earning that amount in the US are not poor but the argument is that poverty can be viewed relatively and according to standards in different countries. The better part of my brain advised that i dont argue with him, hence my nonresponsiveness. |
akpomeme: Bro old news... She sued the paper and they have paid her for damages... Abeg find another thing write. Can you provide a link to that? I'd like to read where and when she sued and was paid for damages. |
manny4life: My friend leave your social welfare biko, in the U.S. alone, poverty rose by almost 28%, there are more pan handlers (beggars) on the street, than I knew 5years ago. Do you think there's no welfare in....Oga stop it! Not every one on this forum is an illiterate! The American Cencus Bereau says 50million (about 18% given a population of over 260million) Americans live at or below the poverty line, and this figure is 3million people above what is officialy gazetted. And do you know what the American authorities define poverty to be? Hear them: in America, a family of FOUR is designated POOR or living in POVERTY if its income is less than or $23,550 anually! That is about 4.5million naira! In essence, what the US considers poverty in their clime is an above average standard of living in ours, which renders your arguement totally flawed! There's no basis of comparism between the two since their benchmarks for povery vary. |
