And I am NOT receiving and remuneration /compensation. I have documentation that shows when my clinical rotation started (which was on my second visit on my visa to the USA), unfortunately they do not ask to see any documentation. The modus operandi of caribean medical schools is such that clinical rotations are done in the USA after passing an exam. At the time I applied for my visa, I had not passed that exam so rotations were out of the question at that time. V.O just kept saying her assumptions, I had no chance to explain talkless of showing any documented evidence.

Sorry, what was your first visit on that visa about majorly? And the application that got refused now, what was the main reason for wanting it as declared by you to the VO?

Hello... please when did you do your biometrics to get a feed back from them?
My wife and my 4 years old daughter's applications were submitted on the 4th of September, biometrics was done for my daughter on the 12th of september. Yesterday, 1st of Novemeber, my daughters application was refused but no update on my wife's application at the moment. Has anyone every experience such before.

Also its took 8 weeks to get a refusal notification for my daughter and still no update for my wife. Is this normal?

Normal, it happens.... But I don't get, a 4-year old, biometrics?

This is the problem. Review for my online application started yesterday but I just got a mail from travelstart that my flight bookings for Canada has been Canceled.

What would you advise I do at this time. I’m so confused.

Not an issue. The booking’s purpose is just to show what your itinerary looks like....

But having a valid visa may not necessarily indicate that you have travelled out of the country or use the said visa, so I was thinking send mail may help show that the visa has been used and improve my already low travel history.

Just my thought. You may be right.

You are in order. Just that it really won’t make a significant difference per se, but it counts, especially if your intended Canada travel date is far away.

Will even suggest you readjust everything about the Canada travel date to next summer or Easter at the very nearest and upload in addition to the new travel history....

You invariably shouldn’t be looking at Brampton if you are putting up at your Sister’s for this “Missionary Journey “. Can’t remember now, I think I read of one in Scarborough here. Check around that area of the GTA.

Meanwhile, lemme remind all that not all asking for hospital details are actually preggies planning to birth in Canada. Some are agents, they need the info free/cheap to milk clients without doing deep research as we are wont to advocate here. That was how they almost ruined the US Birthing thread a couple of years ago....

Thank u

Mr100Dollars:
No... You can't.

marychi18:

Yes u can. I did it twice. Don’t say what u don’t know. U are new in the visa game. So don’t give blind advise here.

groovychik:
You were actually right. You need confirmation number to make a booking.

@groovychik; for the purpose of doing a back and forth sake, don’t you think generating a DS160 form number and scheduling an appointment with it is quite different from the actual filling and submission of the form itself before scheduling an appointment? It seems so though....

Meanwhile, for learning purposes and as an advice, @the bolded is the best thing to do any day in order to avoid getting enmeshed in a mixup and by extension a turn back on one’s interview day as have been the case of many here almost from time immemorial till date.

Hello house. Just thought I should share this information. My wife's visa was approved last month September. I decided to get the GCMS like I did the last time to see the steps leading the final decision. I found this in the notes:

Travelling with spouse and child, child born in USA,purpose:tourism, some activites on itinerary are inappropiate for a 1 year old(i.e.CN Tower Edge Walk),travel his:UAE,USA,Singapore with family, attached personal and husbands banks statement, funds:CAD but not available in personal bank statement,booking.com confirmed, flight receipts for whole family included.

I believe the above were the initial notes by the first reviewer. The notes from the final reviewer is missing as this review is negative but the outcome was positive thanks to God.

Reading this made me wonder about the first reviewer. It is obvious that the CN Tower walk is for adults. The child can be with one parent while the other partakes in the tower walk. I didn't think it would make sense to start explaining how we intend to handle parent duty rotation for such a short visit.

Funds not available in personal accounts(current & savings) really got me wondering because I always held that proof of funds extends beyond that. The reviewer probably felt the funds should have been liquidated to reflect in the account instead of leaving it in mutual funds.

Abeg my people una dey see this thing the way I see am too? Omobendel24.

Yeah, I'm in sync with the VO's note and your deductions therefrom though I've somehow not believed funds not readily available in your personal account is good for visa application especially funds in business/corporate accounts.

Oh, you mean too that you made payment for the flight tickets for the family before applying?

Funny enough, Max they can get per kid is about 2K or so. Often times you don’t get anything, it just decreases your tax liabilities. It’s crazy how have the liver to claim other people’s kid on their taxes. The fear of IRS is the beginning of wisdom cos they will drag you and shake you down for all you’re worth if they catch you scamming on taxes.

The IRS is cracking down on them now. If you file taxes with kids they can tell you to fax them a copy of the kids SS card, birth certificate and so on. Especially if the last name of the kids don’t match the filer’s last name. They hold the refund until the documents are submitted.

Bull's eyes!

It is however our way not to turn the heat on one who did us such a favor of hosting us till we are unnecessarily pushed, never an easy decision to follow through. This is the reason I advocate mother's that are to be hosted in the US should not even go for the baby's SSN knowing that neither you nor the child is going to reside in the US....

How does she know it?

What are you pretending about now? Is it today that you know you lot "rich" Nigeria-Americans are good at this? You are now busy talking of the children not residing in the US and all. But you peeps, some of you, always act funny once you lay your hands on those Social Security digits of babies born in the US but resident in Nigeria. You know your way round using the digits for such claims even when the US-born kids are not resident in the US.

Some brazenly go for those digits, others call you out of the blues to do a subtle request for it early in the year, and yet Nigerians in Nigeria are the corrupt Nigerians. This topic has come up at different times here. Mothers, protect those digits, better still don't even go for them so as to avoid situations that will make you offend your US host or act "irrational" to stall them, it is what is available that they will disturb you for na. I thank God for my kind of loaded US hosts, they can never condescend low to this, their threshold actually puts them above such desperation of those of you living fake lives. Mtchhheeewww!

Because you know only one person that was granted a visa does not mean that majority of weak profiles get granted.
By the way, the person you are describing must have cooked up a simple lie at the interview for the visa to be issued. undecided
There was no way a person with a weak profile would have been honest for that visa to be granted so stop talking about grace here.
The fact is he lied then visa was issued. shocked

Let her tell us what was filled in that profile of theirs.

Meanwhile, lemme repeat once more, a Civil Servant that has put in a good number of years on the job does not really have a weak profile as we may think. Age, property, years of experience and assumed "job satisfaction" (hope you know holding on to that civil service job come what may is a norm here? Not always looking for the next good place to work unlike the upwardly mobile Bankers that have absconded severally and giving us deeper bad name, no civil servant wants to leave his/her retirement benefits just like that na) can cover for them.

Actual weak profiles will scarcely snatch a visa. "Japaist" are having a hard time getting a US visa now, seriously

But this here is the textbook definition of scapegoating or stereotyping. Because a lot of us are bad doesn't mean all of us are bad. Why can't we be treated on an individual basis and not pre-judged before we even set foot in the embassy? These are some of the ideals espoused by America but not exactly practiced in relation to Nigerians

True, I understand. Another truth however is that no American will tell me "I'm gonna shoot you" and I will dare treat that with kids gloves. Is it all Americans that this affects? Genuinely, they are majorly stereotyped in my mind's eye, lol....

I really have no skin in the game, but what irks me is the double standard. For example, a Nigerian that wants to go shopping in New York or even just visit for the annual Macy's Thanksgiving parade has higher hurdles to overcome, all things being equal, than a similar visitor say from Brazil or even Argentina.

Our government; our people, over the years; our economic, political and security woes won't let us be great if we would be truthful to ourselves. The flight risk is just too high with us, currently!

And that's why getting the US visa approved comes with very strict and extra scrutiny.

If it were post, the no-transit-without-visa issue would have been relax, they don't want you anywhere near their border post for obvious reasons, just logic.... If not, they will allow us all just buy a ticket headed for Dominican Republic via the US na, we won't see CBP, we will just continue our journey. Alas, they will not, because our people will just finish them. In essence, the risk is PRE and not POST CBP....

I don't know why you give this VOs too much props...well, I guess it's just props but @mroyato is right with the observation cos as it is right now, if you're single and (or) without travel history on the B1/B2 visa application, you will be bounced. Don't waste your money. Doesn't matter if your intent are genuine or not; I know this cos I was there today with my colleague. We applied for the same visa, tho she's married but y'all know how a young man like to have his things together before settling cos he wants his kids have a better life than he'll ever have. The following background details is why @mroyatoy is right.

My company, a fully licensed IMTO in the U.S and Nigeria was to send two of us (all expenses) paid to the biggest International Money Transfer and Payment Conference in the US, Whole idea is to network and meet new partners to expand our services and demography. Let me reiterate that I'd been denied visa one time for the 2007dv lottery which I stated on my application, after which I got my degree and comfortably earning a high six figure with assurance of a secured job; so you know I'm not desperate for a US visa to settle for a meager $9/hr life. My colleague (female) married, with a travel history to Dubai & SA got approved tho; so No, you don't stand a chance if you don't have a strong home ties and travel history. Your fate has already been 100% decided if without home ties and T. History and 50% decided if you have the afformentioned.

You know you don't stand a chance when they cut you off between answering a question and asking just this 4 questions which are as follows:

1. Why are you going to the US?
4. What do you do for work?
2. Are you married?
3. Have you ever traveled out of Nigeria before?

*modified*

The reciprocity fee is still effective, note to all intending interviewee.

Search yourself well sir.... If you know the number of persons I interact with currently per different Embassies matters and what my unit and job description is like, I may then not be hurting you. The high and mighty also gets refused, yes, mostly because of their "over-sabi" and underrating of these Embassies. If you genuinely have the right ties and follow the application process judiciously, you will hardly get turned down barring any coded "scraw-scraw" however!

As soon as they land at a border post or disembark and declare their intention to seek assylum. They do not need to get past CBP. Same with a visa holder who is being denied entry. Yes, they are very wary of transit without a visa because you don't need a visa to declare assylum once you're there. There are too many loopholes. But they set the rules, immigrants follow them. They know what to do to fix this yet they wont.

Okay, true, confirmed....

You are taking a big leap of faith assuming majority of the people currently getting visas have the intention of returning to Nigeria. Anectdotal evidence shows a huge increase in the number of our brothers and sisters arriving here and immediately seeking out ways to remain behind. Some are here on scouting trips to see what is possible/test the waters. This thing is a big business. There are people here that match them up with citizen husbands/wives for a huge fee to facilitate the change in status. Attorneys make big business out of it by seeking loopholes to get their clients through

I'm aware of all these. I however can't count the number of applicants with noble visit intentions I know of that got approved since this "strict" development, but the number of approval for those planning to run has decreased drastically, that is the reason you hear more of these refusal complain.... Our "ogboju" time is almost up!

I know of a group of about 20+ in recent times for instance that got almost 40% approval of their application, each of those approved were with the right ties and not planning to escape, they already are back to Naija. Those refused actually almost all had the right ties except for one or two, but not even one with the intent of vamoosing (despite the right ties) got the visa, and I'm told they were the angriest and most desperate of the lot. Yes, they are refusing some qualified people still (mostly because of how they handled their interview and form filling), but they are getting better refusing those on the escape route. I know this will never go down well with the bulk of people getting refused, but search yourself oh!

Outside going there to try your luck, do you have any other reason for applying for this visa? As for the Reciprocity Fee, you need NGN5,700 more.... Why is your dad sponsoring you, how old are you, are you yet in school?

To be honest, this latest development will not deter those who know how to work the system. Once you're on American soil, the rules change. You have more rights than most are aware of. They cannot just deport you if you know what to do...... call an attorney immediately grin' even at the point of entry! Truth is, if you were issued a visa, you have a right to
•An exclusion hearing before a judge to determine your admissibility;
•An administrative appeal to the Board of Immigration Appeals;
•A judicial review or appeal of any, or all, of the above decisions.
This is why Mr Trump is determined to stop people setting foot on American soil in the first place. Even assylum seekers have rights as soon as they land. But if you're processing your case from outside the country, your options are severely limited.

"As soon as they land" here would mean? As soon as they disembark or as soon as they get past CBP? I understand though, the A part of my second question is a major reason both the US and Canada will not allow you transit via their country without their visa. Right?
