Hello Seyewest... I agree with your statement saying those who want to elope to USA will keep trying, and those who have resolved to stay back and fix Nigeria should also.
The thing is there is no amount of uprightness maintained on this thread that will make people not try to elope. The easiest way to the USA is to get a B1/B2 and then abuse it.
Encouragement abounds everywhere to abuse the B1/B2. I traveled for UNGA74 and also partook in the NY Nigerian Mission Independence Day Street Parade and 90% of Nigerians there looked at me funny when I mentioned I was returning to Lagos. My friends and especially neighbors in the same estate in Nigeria where I lived were also surprised when I returned. Even the Hausa bike man (who is also a BDC agent) had told my wife he knew I would not come back.
It is not going to stop. Whether Trump gets a 2nd term or he gets impeached... VOs get smarter... visa refusal rate increases... visa fees increases...
Nigerians desire to elope is super strong, and encouragement abounds everywhere
.

@the bolded is about the truth, but why? Buhari sir! Got my first US visa in 2010, if it were today and with the much/little I had to bring to the table, I wouldn't even dare! Thanks to God for the personal progress we have made irrespective.

Buhari is a demon, just like the buharideens with their uprooted brains!!! Pretty angry right now

You know we've been moving since 80's especially mid 90's and early 2000''s so people moving no be today, I don't get this Buhari blame (The LA 88 boys, the Drug Mule, Human Trafficker) Governors, Rep, LG Chairman not performing is not Buhari's fault.
As for not seeing any future in this country, I will remind you very soon about this certain conversation.

Seye! We play too much in this country. With that man/misfit I saw a video of at the UNGA, that went off key at such basic question? Are you for real?

You na my guy sha.... Dunno how this Buhari support thing works though, it turns our best peeps into something unexplainable, “turningoninown” things. Will you Seye handle Nigeria in this manner if you got close to the saddle? You’d do better!

Well, will avoid discussing this here and get looking into the Politics Section of NL pretty soon. Why are Nigerians running out of motherland? Why are we getting turned down at Embassies even more? Fighting "kwaraption" things, abi? You got a dinosaur and a disaster for a president bruv, rudderlessness! Every wise country fears us, we aren't anything near stable politically and economically, we are only pretenders to the throne....

Maybe to you, but this country will be great through our effort, you're free to move to another country.
My faith in this country is unshakeable.

Na so I be dey strongly believe too. Just that this una Bubu wey una give us no dey make am look so.... It is only by God and individual effort that the hope lies now, not on the government as led by that man you guys "voted twice, TWICE" according to and as emphasized by @Ugosample.

Buhari na dream killer, while dumbly allowing/committing the greatest heist and rape of our collective patrimony with his gang! I hope you know the failings of our government is adding more to the stringent hurdles Nigerians have to face to procure these visas? How person for do if to say we never first bam? I have several well doing friends and colleagues that got done with Naija and Buhari and have taken a bow off the Nigeria stage to the US and Canada legally and illegally so to speak, people with brains oh, additions to any society they will ever find themselves, another twist to brain drain surely. You remember what the liliputian Ngige said to and about our doctors previous year, who does that?

My better half and I have good jobs in the Nigeria context, both Canada and America citizen kids (except for one), they already have an edge no doubt, the major reason I'm less bothered and not willing or thinking to exit this stage. But for others, they are mostly doing it for their kids, not necessarily because of an all out willingness. A bank manager friend of mine when I probed why he gave up and exited did say being in that sector all he was seeing was bleakness and doom that the general public may not see, and he doesn't want to regret not taking his children out of it while he had clear cut opportunities to do so. I'm talking of people leaving with several tens (almost hundreds in some cases) of thousands of USD to booth with and as shock absolvers to whatever the new system will throw at them initially.

MAY NIGERIA BE GREAT!

Hello,

So I have submitted my DS 160 form and I picked my location as Lagos, I have not paid the fees yet and when I checked appointment for Lagos they are in December. Abuja dates are earlier though - can I fill and another form, submit and switch it with a location in Abuja?

My work takes me to Abuja every now and then and I'm just looking at how to get a date in October - the event I'm traveling for is in November

Go ahead if Abuja works for you, schedule your appointment there now (you won't be allowed to change it again), fill a new form and pick Abuja as your location when submitting, update the former form number on your CGI profile with the new one and print a new Appointment Confirmation that carries the new form's number on the bar code.

Hello everyone. Please my Passport expires on 7th April 2020 {Next Year} and i understand that part of US visa requirements is that passport must be at least 6 months valid. Please can I still apply with the passport now and how soon can i get an interview appointment date

Go ahead and apply with the passport provided interview date is before its expiration. But you will need to get a new one for the travel itself once passport is below 6 months validity (you can renew your passport once it has less than 6 months validity, if more than that is left on the passport, it is only Abuja Hqtrs that can renew it for you).

Closest interview dates are November and December for Abuja and Lagos respectively.

Hi Guys

please i need your help or advice rather. my interview is 1st week in November and this is my standing.

i went to the united states once with my mom when i was underage, when my visa expired i renewed via drop box and got 2 years again, the problem here is i never used it, mostly because of school(Unilag) and the frequent strikes that occurred, there was lot of uncertainity with regards to when strike would be called off, and mostly exam followed next after strike . so in the nutshell i didn't use it, this is as far back 2014/ 2015.

After then i have been to dubai 3 times, mostly November /December for vacation and time off work. This year i went in September because my company sponsored me for an Expo.

Also, In July my parent who i had renewed and gotten my united states visa with reapplied and were granted. but then they are above 60 and i don't hear any talk on older ones being denied.

i am going for the first time on my own and i am definitely nervous and don't know what my chances are.

please help

If you have not stayed unnecessarily longer than normal (not talking of overstay here please) in the US on previous visits, Prospects remain high, especially if your job is paying reasonably fair and if you would be travelling with your parents still, particularly for just this trip, but no biggie, you should be good.

Hi everyone, i've been a silent reader of this thread for a while, I just need answers to some questions.
I'm 22yrs in my 3rd year in the University, my bf is in US, his dad is a Legal permanent resident who filed for him and he has been there since last year. We've been very close friends for 3years now but we only just started dating after he left the country and we really don't have any pictures together. He hasn't gotten his permanent resident card yet so he can't leave the country, my question is what if him or his Dad invites me over for a visit next summer during my school break and if I get letters from my school, is being a student here enough proof that I'll come back, Also since my bf isn't a permanent resident yet, what are my chances of getting a visa. Do I indicate he's my bf when we really don't have pictures together or do I say he's a close friend. What do you suggest is a better way to visit. Please I really need all the answers I can get

How come your boyfriend hasn't gotten his PR if his dad filed for him? At what point was he filed for (before or after US entry?), and how did he enter the US if I may ask? Truth however is that your chances based on deductible ties from your post are pretty slim, and even becomes slimmer than slim in several ways with your boyfriend as part of your travel plans at all.

Three colleagues picked up their passports over the last two weeks, and they didn't have that stapled.

Let's see if others have this affixed to their visa

Weighing in in support of this. Saw one collected on Friday here, nothing stapled. Well, maybe it just started today or something....

Note that you can only reschedule twice(or cancel appointment). The receipt number may not work the third time.

It happened to me, called the embassy, sent mail got same response that I needed to purchase another receipt(pay for visa fee) at GTBank.
Kindly note.

You can REschedule just only once, not twice please

Did your brother provide a valid onward/return flight ticket and proof of accommodation when applying?

If No, then why are you surprised? Those are key requirements.

If Yes, then you need to ask further questions and call if possible.

Also was it a mail or SMS?

A call will do. Keep the email address that sent the message handy, just to verify the message is from them. Everything is possible with visa agents

Someone kindly respond to this. My Mum also has a similar issue. She arrived London the same day her passport Request mail came in. I sent an email to both LDNIMMIGRATION@international.gc.ca and lagos.immigration@international.gc.ca. London Office responded within an hour of sending the email, no response from Lagos office yet. The mail from received was not particularly helpful but I told my Mum to just go drop off her Passport at the VAC office in London.

She should go ahead. Submitting passport for visa sticker affixing in a VAC different from the one you gave your biometrics comes with an extra cost, do note this please.

Day 70.
London Visa Office
Online application

AOR - July 4
BIO - July 8
Eligibility started - Sep 3
BVL- Sep 11
PPR- Sep 12

My concern is where and how to submit passports. Mum is in DC for 1 month and she has their passports, as we'd prepared for likely submission in the USA. Should she go ahead and dispatch to LA VO through the courier?

Or must she be authorized to do so? Application was done in Nigeria. Should we send email to an authority seeking pernission to submit through LA VO? Which office should we email?

If you know of how a similar case was addressed, please advise.

Thank you

No need seeking any permission

OmoBendel24:

Apply now from Nigeria, online route, and do your biometrics here too. If approved, you can send in your passport alongside side the approval to the VAC in NY or LA via UPS or USPS, turnaround time should be even less than a week, depending on the workload at the time, a few days more/ two weeks tops....

@Abubuyaya: See the above....

Good day house, I paid for VISA Fee for my 2kids and I when getting to book appointment I has applied the reference code I got after paying at the GTBank.
Went for interview, told to reschedule for another appointment that the barcode isn’t the same.

Tried booking with the same receipt numbers, got this message:

“No valid record can be found for the entered receipt number. Please validate that your receipt number is correct and that you have paid the correct amount for the visa which you are applying for”

Please house what is the solution to this... time is far spent. anyone in this kind of issues waiting for.
Way forward, kindly know that I paid for 3.

Wait for 2-3 days after the turn back (you may have to call the embassy/the CGI crew), they will be reactivated for use, that’s if you never did an interview reschedule with it before now anyways.

@Legends6464: how did yours go last month? Was the reactivation/rescheduling done during or after the 3 days?

Ugh shocked! How's @the bolded to work please? I actually can't see it. It's only the CGI crew that can solve this to the best of my understanding. This is the reason I always say a profile should be created for each applicant irrespective of age. If she had her profile, it would have just been a walkover correcting this issue with making calls or sending mails....

The idea that people provide foreign address in other to claim cheaper bill is not correct and as the poster is trying to explain, they are different processes entirely. The forms you fill to process birth certificate is administered independently ( at least in my experience) and does not give any basis for you as a foreigner to be able to prove that you are resident in the US. The finance department will require that you provide a US Address so that the bills can be sent there and indeed a sort of Guarantor as they fully understand that we are non-resident.

I insisted that I wanted to use my Nigerian Address for the birth certificate and I was told that it has to be a US Address as the birth certificate will not be dispatched to an address outside of the US. I hope the US embassy can conduct independent inquiries into this and verify the truth, unless they are just looking for any excuse to deny us.

There is no hospital that will deal with you without you providing an address within state where bills will be sent to. It is this address that the finance department ( the billing people) work with, they do not have any thing to do with the birth certificate which is handled by social services department who merely acts as the handler of the forms as they have the duty to report births.

See below

123JohnF:

You will see, very soon it will be.

Day done still break for you again @123JohnF!

@all; I had to get the below image from a very dear friend to illustrate an example to you. In the form you can see there's space for MOTHER'S RESIDENTIAL ADDRESS and another for MOTHER'S MAILING ADDRESS, there's a huge difference, never forget to fill your Nigeria address as your residential address while using your US address as your mailing address. It's an innocent mistake that some really do get punished for at renewal, by all means avoid it please!

During registration and all other times, once you sight "RESIDENTIAL ADDRESS" or anything that looks like it on any form, please use your Naija Address....

Revised Visa Reciprocity for Nigeria

REVISED VISA RECIPROCITY SCHEDULE FOR NIGERIA: Effective worldwide on 29 August, Nigerian citizens will be required to pay a visa issuance fee, or reciprocity fee, for all approved applications for nonimmigrant visas in B, F, H1B, I, L, and R visa classifications. The reciprocity fee will be charged in addition to the nonimmigrant visa application fee, also known as the MRV fee, which all applicants pay at the time of application. Nigerian citizens whose applications for a nonimmigrant visa are denied will not be charged the new reciprocity fee. Both reciprocity and MRV fees are non-refundable, and their amounts vary based on visa classification.

Since early 2018, the U.S. government has engaged the Nigerian government to request that the Nigerian government change the fees charged to U.S. citizens for certain visa categories. After eighteen months of review and consultations, the government of Nigeria has not changed its fee structure for U.S. citizen visa applicants, requiring the U.S. Department of State to enact new reciprocity fees in accordance with our visa laws.

18 good months oh, after 18 good months! Those whinning and crying always about visa fees "exploitation" better wake up, gear up and hold your almost good for nothing uselessly-directionless-Japan-visiting government (while others are doing things big and great out there in France) to this, because they will do nothing to quickly correct this if ignored by your usual docility.

Una go pay una go tire!

OmoBendel24:

That’s actually the way it is my broda. The news is 3 years ago though.... Even our Nigeria visa on arrival that is valid for only 15 days goes for about $180-200.

Reciprocity indeed! And we have several bitter people saying the Americans are “cheating” us, people that are so docile they can’t even ask their own government a single question oh!

One major thing I have come to realise is that as much as 80-90% persons with US visa refusals I have come across actually wanted to bolt with the visa. Then those with approval are mostly people that plan to go and come back (except for recent times sha), at least in my own circle. Una lie! In essence, these guys (VOs) are mostly getting their job done appropriately, yeah. Be sincere with yourselves please, the bulk of you lot busy liking some nonsense and senseless posts on here are majorly INTENDING IMMIGRANTS that got beaten to their own game, BITTER.... Simple!

U.S. law requires U.S. visa fees and validity periods to be based on the treatment afforded to U.S. citizens by foreign governments, insofar as possible. Visa issuance fees are implemented under the principle of reciprocity: when a foreign government imposes additional visa fees on U.S. citizens, the United States will impose reciprocal fees on citizens of that country for similar types of visas. Nationals of a number of countries worldwide are currently required to pay this type of fee after their nonimmigrant visa application is approved.

The total cost for a U.S. citizen to obtain a visa to Nigeria is currently higher than the total cost for a Nigerian to obtain a comparable visa to the United States. The new reciprocity fee for Nigerian citizens is meant to eliminate that cost difference.

The reciprocity fee will be required for all Nigerian citizens worldwide, regardless of where they are applying for a nonimmigrant visa to the United States. The reciprocity fee is required for each visa that is issued, which means both adults and minors whose visa applications are approved will be charged the reciprocity fee. The fee can only be paid at the U.S. Embassy or the U.S. Consulate General. The reciprocity fee cannot be paid at banks or any other location.

The complete reciprocity fee schedule, organized by visa classification, can be found below.

Juleskiki:
Good morning guys,

Please i need help and ideas from everyone,

After my study permit was approved for a 4 years program, I applied for my 15months old son alone and after few weeks his application was rejected based on the following reasons family ties, current employment situation and financial and personal assets.
I am just confused, how can you possibly proof his employment situation, assets and ties to home and Canada? I need ideas here pls... How do I go about these reasons, he is still an infant and can't be left back for too long.. please....

If I got you right at all, then genuinely, I would say “thank your stars your own visa wasn’t cancelled”! It is in your best interest to first go resume school before ever thinking of that step again please. THAT’S YOUR MAJOR TIE BACK HOME RIGHT THERE! Visa may have been approved with the child’s abode being a major consideration per why you must always go back home.
