@Susej,
1. Which letters?
2. A travel agent can do this conveniently, however booking.com for accommodation, and maybe wakanow.com for flight.

If its an online application, address it to Canada embassy London, if paper application address it to Nairobi, Google for the address or To whom it may concern.

Note : if you can get an invitation letter from a relative please do and add to your application to strengthen it, Canada isn't really a tourist destination and it's winter, the refusal rate for Trv visa is high, so owe your self the responsibility to convince the VO above the regular application mode that you need this visa and will come back in 10days, All the best, hope this helps.

Letters are better addressed to their office in your place of residence/submission. You don’t know for certainty which of their offices will treat your application, it could go to Pretoria, Istanbul or even Dubai as it used to happen just a few years ago. The “Anifowose” address wins it IMO....

Your assertions are based on picking a single point in the array of evidence. Look at the complete picture.

I believe VO asked for additional itinerary for a reason.... what else are you coming for as your stated reason falls outside the bell curve? I read between the lines and thought the real question is ...do you have family here you intend visiting (y'all dont look like the winter activities crowd)? Why are you concealing that information from me if so? Those are logical next questions based on the situation.

My alarms bells actually went off on @the bolded too, that came across as the major reason for picking such a destination at this time, and may actually not be so far from the truth....

Strange policy, if you ask me.
i hv just visted the page maybe like 4 times after scheduling my interview angry angry
the policy is a bit unfair/not balanced...

i recall some people complaining of not being able to reschedule their interview dates some time ago, am fairly certain this might have been what happened to them, just that they were unaware of the warning msg

You disturb that page too much, I think 5 times within 24hrs period, you are blocked a few days. You can’t do sh*t till time is completely served! Not like you will lose your visa fees yet though, you just have to do time....

If there’s an extra or dud profile maybe of a family member without a scheduled appointment or something, you can use it to monitor. If you get what you want, you can then quickly go to your profile and do the needful.

Sorry about that bro,You can reapply! I honestly think these VO's now has limited amount of visas, probably given by DHS that can be issued to Africans,Nigerians,Per day,per month, per year! Once they run out of stock, the rest get axed...regardless if you're genuine or not!

I obtained the visa and I didn't use it because my summer class results were released and I needed to do a resit for one course to give me distinction and the examination resit coincides with the conference paper presentation and I had to abort the trip because the purpose and my intentions was to attend a conference nothing more, and Afterwards I had the visa for many months before it expired . Do I need to travel to USA if I have no reason? I even gave the visa number in my application .....

Some crazy stuff just going on around there methinks. Slightest mistake these days, axed is it as it stands now.... Shrugs!

Sorry bro... this is heartbreaking by just reading it.
Your ties from your transcript are each other, and you are all headed out. Maybe the VO saw the possibility of an Economic Migrant.
Apply separately as advised next time and hope for approval. Wife and Son Batch 1 and you Batch 2

My sincere apologies to your 4-Year-Old. Tell him everyone on this thread are giving him bear hugs.

True that....

However, this may have clicked if there existed a previous travel history with the young man included as it seems. The travel itinerary part isn’t well covered IMO. These too aren’t the best of times to be headed out in those direction of the US, places like Anaheim, Carlifornia may just have cut this better for all three of them. Just speculating anyways!

Very unlikely that your younger sister will be able to dash out this kind of money. If she wanted to dash you such amount you should probably add it to your treasury bills and save it!

Please come up with proper explanation for your trip except you mean that your sister will be accommodating you while you are in the US. Please do not exclude her from your application because this will be an issue in the future or even at the interview if they are able to make a connection between you and her

It seems this matter is not being put to rest so I'm going to quote the following from the doc I linked in my post from the previous page:

"Consular officers use the Consular Consolidated Database (CCD), a biometric and biographic database, to screen all visa applicants. Over 143 million records of visa applications are now automated in the CCD, with some records dating back to the mid-1990s. Since February 2001, the CCD has stored photographs of all visa applicants in electronic form; since 2007, the CCD has begun storing 10-finger scans. The number of visa cases in the CCD surpassed 100 million in 2009, including 75 million photographs."

"In addition to indicating the outcome of any prior visa application of the alien in the CCD and comments by consular officers, the system links with other databases to flag problems that may have an impact on the issuance of the visa. These databases linked with the CCD include DHS’s Automated Biometric Identification System (IDENT) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System (IAFIS) results, and supporting documents."

Hope this topic can be finally put to rest and people can move on.

Don't you think this however can be done right at the point leading up to the interview as your profile is pulled up and during the interview? The major check I believe is done after visa approval during interview before the visa sticker itself gets affixed to your passport.

I did submit a DS160 form in the early hours of the interview date, it did pull through successfully, I have seen other similar late submissions too. I wonder then at what point this almighty background check was done on the application. I think the background check thing is overrated and maybe "exaggerated" at different levels.

VOs here and on other platforms have said the thought in our heads of that "major background check" that happens before interviews is almost as good as BS, there's already in the system some sort of software or whatever that may be called to run a check on you with on the needed areas once your profile is pulled up for interview. The IT geeks and those savvy in this field can help out further, but this is what it is....

Whew! Still doing catchup on my most loved thread on NL, will be done soon. I see all the many roforofo, walahi, "kolo" full this thread "aswearit down"! Page 171 now, 11 more pages to go....

Like I said before, the refusal is baseless and hilarious. I honestly think the VO made a mistake; they are humans you know.

To answer your question, both of them are legal residents, they went to Canada via the PR parole. I believe they are also comfortable as one just bought a house. They come to Naija once in a while. I wasn’t just interested in relocating otherwise I would have been a naturalized citizen by now.

I am not offended by your questions at all, please feel free as others may also learn one or two things from them. I have requested for the gcms notes as I would love to understand their thinking pattern that led to the refusal.

Oh, okay. This looks all clean.... The notes sure will unveil the surprise, most likely something flimsy, underrated. Or maybe something you didn't throw in.

Hello,
From what I can deduce, you meant it's possible to be granted a 1 year validity with the option of maximum stay at intervals being 180 days and or 6 months validity with maximum stay at intervals being 90 days?

I HOPE THAT'S THE POINT?

The below images may be of help sir.

Thanks @OmoBendel24. I thought it was sound as well until I got the refusal mail. To answer your questions, I’ve never overstayed or abused any of my visas and the hospital bill was reasonable; think about 10k or a little more.

I’ll think about next steps in January, as for now I’m in a grateful mode for making it to 2020 by God’s grace.

@the bolded is fair enough in my understanding, it most likely isn’t the issue then, and it couldn’t be coming from your other visa usage too as it seems.

You didn’t touch on the below quote in blue, no offence intended please, just trying to zero in on what may have gone wrong based on my understanding of your lead post sir.

“But then, were these in-laws’ details stated in your application, and how did they get into Canada? There may be a strong perception by the VO of deliberate dissociation of self from them for evasive reasons due to one shortcoming or the other, and even a personal ulterior motive.”

Hi,
I would like to know can a France Schengen Tourist visa of up to a year validity (Multiple Entry) be requested for and granted? In such a way as to use it frequently as the likes of the UK and USA?

If yes how do one go about it?

You should have had and used a previous double/multiple entry Schengen Tourists/Visitors Visa as some sort of prerequisite, and must be able to demonstrate that you are or you will be a frequent traveller to the territory, especially with that previous visa, there are exceptions though, your job and its required frequent schengen travels for instance. And that you understand the 90 in 180 days rule of their visa usage.

My understanding though.

I have a brother and sister in law who are permanent residents in Canada which I was upfront with. I stated this in my cover letter and told the VO I won’t be seeing them because the trip is strictly a family vacation and the logistics of moving ourselves from Ontario to Calgary may be too demanding. Perhaps that’s why the VO didn’t raise my tie to Canada as a problem.

In my opinion I believe I have put up a good application, but perhaps I was wrong. This is the first ever VISA refusal I have got in my life and it’s just hilarious to think I’ll decide to leave my good job for that cold; I might appeal this decision. For now, I will just jejely carry my family to Dubai for the Christmas break and think of next steps later.

Profile comes across as pretty sound, and strong. But then, were these in-laws’ details stated in your application, and how did they get into Canada? There may be a strong perception by the VO of deliberate dissociation of self from them for evasive reasons due to one shortcoming or the other, and even a personal ulterior motive.

Have you ever overstayed your visa/approved POE days elsewhere? Payments for son’s birth, how reasonable were the figures paid?

Wow! Good to be back on this thread, just finished doing catch-up....

I WOULD LIKE TO ASK CAN A SINGLE ENTRY VISA BE USED TO OTHER SCHENGEN TERRITORIES?

Yes, it can be used as such. All travels within the territory is considered as local, as long as you do not go out of the territory within that one visit, you are good and covered. The visa only admits you once into the territory, and you can move within member states freely by the various means of transportation, be careful however not to do a documented visit to other member state that exceeds the number of days done in the particular visa issuing State which is France in your case, such could brew issues for you in the nearest future.

Congratulations to you guys....

Lol.

Short Story:

So in February 2019, I got a pay later option hotel in Paris with my Debit card. I had limited funds on that card though it’s stated the card is just to guarantee booking. I was so happy reading this until I submitted my application and 4 Days after submission first email: the hotel has tried to process your credit card details: insufficient funds next email was the hotel cancellation. I called the hotel immediately and asked why my reservation was cancelled. Rude reply was no funds on the card then I said but the booking said pay later. He rudely said we didn’t instruct any 3rd party to issue such privileges.

I immediately funded the card to keep the reservation but it was too late. Next day : your processed visa application email from VFS .

Read what’s on the site but call the hotel to ensure they have such an agreement with the said 3rd party.

Thanks jare!

Didn’t they give you an option to update your card within 24hrs or so? They normally do though. Cases can be different however. I have had the opportunity to quickly change card (this was during that FOREX crisis period) and have them process whatever they wanted to process. Changed my Fidelity Bank naira card with my GTB USD card, and that worked perfectly.

There are times they even just take something small out of the card, maybe less than $5, just to verify your card, and they return it after sometime too.

Thanks for the response bro. My Google search also showed that transit visa is not needed except one is transiting in two Schengen countries. However, I asked wakanow and I was told I would need a transit visa. I guess I will just avoid anything that has to do with Schengen countries so as to avoid stories.

Wow! Why will they tell you that? Or is it the type of ticket that requires you changing airport in Paris, maybe CDG to ORLY or something? As long as you are not changing airports, no wahala. I think I had a technical stop from DXB at Milan Malpensa enroute JFK earlier in the year sef, all that happened was just one airside check like that and we were back in the plane without ish. But trust me, if the price is right and you are not required to change airport in the schengen zone, you don't need no transit visa, you will be just fine. Go ahead please!

Oga, I have been traveling for more than 3 decades, but I can help educate you by sharing some threads on some of the countries that I have visited

https://www.nairaland.com/4001717/8-things-need-know-new/28#82015296

This year alone, I have visited 4 different countries and in the next couple of days, I'll spend 4 days in Istanbul, Turkey and another 10 days in many of the 26 Schengen countries. Invariably, I have booked Hotels in 10 countries this year 2019 alone in different parts of the world(excluding Africa) and all the bookings I made are of free cancellation without losing N1.

Experience matters. Don't just argue based on your limited experience, as you're not talking to a fresher. Some people call me 'Ajala the traveler on Nairaland'
There are ways I do it, that I don't pay 1 kobo in booking hotels in any part of the world using booking.com, hotel.com and Airbnb

Lolz “Ajala the traveler on Nairaland”. Oga, kindly do at the bolded TODAY with France and UK hotels, please. And make sure you come back with your testimony. Shior!

I haven’t set foot “outside of Nigeria” sir, but I can confidently tell you to reduce the air of authority with which you speak on some matters. I have been a victim, and have had to apologize at some point, that guides me mostly, now. What you knew was working yesterday may not necessarily cut it again today. Wisdom! Hello house. I heard that one will need Transit Visa if your ticket has a stopover in Paris. How true is this please. I observed that Air France and KLM usually have stopover in Paris.

Not correct if you are a Nigeria Passport holder, have a US visa and are headed to the the US on transit via one schengen airport only. You will only have problem if your transit is say in Paris and in Amsterdam also on one of the legs of the trip, that will be transiting two schengen countries, it won’t work to the best of my knowledge.

Not true

There are over 100 filters on Booking.com and Hotel.com

Just select Hotel with free cancellation.

Why speak with so much authority? Well, my experience these past few weeks is what I just put up here. It’s not compulsory you believe. Just first make the mistake of submitting an application to these embassies with any of these bookings done with unfunded cards, and then they go on to cancel it, you will then understand what the time says, if you like, use all the filters you can think of, you will understand at some point. Hope you know they mostly have it as part of your booking conditions that they can try to access the money in your card at any point in time, and that this point can be after you have submitted your application?

I just got refunded one of my reservation’s money on Friday after it was withheld for over two weeks, the others - some up to three weeks - are still being withheld, including the one I’ve cancelled by myself. I however know that I will be refunded most definitely. And I think I’m much more comfortable with this their approach, instead of them canceling my reservation out midway into my visa application’s submission.

LESSON: Dud and unfunded cards as at today will sure get applicants into trouble per their hotel bookings if not extra careful.

Mostly a night's money has to be withheld, whether you pick the no prepayment option or not, noticed this with the UK and France hotels already in the past few weeks.
