More than 12 hours at the airport, why not find a something convenient? if that was emirates/turkish they will provide you with free hotel and feeding.

He can actually enter the UK with the US visa and onward ticket if he’s doing 8hrs+ on transit, at the discretion of the border force officer though....

People of God, I am back to give back.
So our sweet angel arrived gloriously in 9ja on Saturday, and the excitement is much more than a visa approval could bring. grin grin grin
While we were still rejoicing and enjoying the sweetness of her arrival, I got a mail from the embassy two days after she was born that we can submit our passport. I guess for visa approval ni.
Suddenly, we moved from a hopeless wait for a visa, to double celebration of both baby's safe delivery and visa approval. Chai! grin grin grin
We shall jejely submit and use visa for vacations beleful and possible future birth jor. grin grin grin
N/B: We stated in our application that it was for birthing by the way.
And though I had a valid US visa, wifey was refused US visa before we applied for Canada.
Submitted online application 7th June, biometrics done 11th June, request for passport received 20th August.
Please don't give up. Whether US denied you is not as important as being truthful and keeping hope alive, its a game of destiny.
I still wish all Canny Moma hopefuls here the best.

CC: Hotstepper
CC: Omobendel
Elders please how do I apply for our two kids to include them on our future vacation trip?
Pls help.

Wow! Big congratulations to you and your wife on the arrival of your bundle of joy, and on your Passport Request indicating visa approval. It’s all good my brother, do enjoy the joy of the addition to the family, painful though, I remember telling you it was going to be a tight one per the timing of the application submission.

Thanks to God, you declared your intention to birth in Canada appropriately in your application, that’s a whole lot of edge now, your baby’s visa approval is almost certain, worry less. Don’t be in a hurry to use the visa at all. Your wife and baby can easily and “jejelly” obtain a US visa too, it will be much more easier now with the Canadian visa. There are different sequences to follow though

Do you have a conscience at all accusing of fraud our hospitals? read yourself, the bolded below.

What else is making your government mad at birth tourist if not an in-house fraudulent matter? Were people not using this same bills to draw up birthing plan/budget a while ago and getting visas approved, renewed and having no issues with CBP? I even now believe that your VOs are too embarrassed and ashamed to let us know the big fraud happening behind us, perpetrated by your health system, that is why this whole birthing wahala remains shrouded in secrecy and all.

I read and understood your initial post...but I still stand on my previous post that the Birth Certificate can still be completed as long as a child has been born...and before payment is completed. It doesn't just apply to Americans.

Let me give this a try. There's an accusation that Nigerians are using US Address on their kid's BCs in order to cut corners and get birthing bills reduced, I'm telling him and you that most Nigerians having this address issue PREPAID for services (mostly Doctor's fees, Facility fees, Epidural, etc) even on first appointment, before birthing and getting the said BCs that contains the US address. In essence, they are not billed "cheap" because of that US Address, it is rather for other reasons. So, how about those that did their registration and pre-payments of this cheap price all the way from Nigeria even before stepping on US soil and are yet denied at renewal, those ones planned to use the US address to cheat your system too, abi?

That's not true.

One can fill the Birth Certificate form right after the child is born even before payment is completed.

Aunty/Oga, that's for you "Americans"! Read my post again, slowly, and understand it and its context. PREPAY, FOREIGNERS, "IN MOST CASES" being the operative words and line to give attention to, please.

That's what all ILLEGALS do, you gave an American address, you are paying cash, no credit, no insurance, it means you are illegal and you are poor, no job or a drug addict. But this loophole works only once, you get out of US, no more benefits for you and no more coming to give another birth using this loophole. Now wait until your American child becomes 21, has a house and a job in USA and invites you to live there. Simple like that. Never again even a simple US tourist visa.

SMH for you and Twoods too. What's all this?

Meanwhile, shebi na before person born naim e dey fill form for Birth Certificate, abi? HELL NO! It is done after birthing, long after payments have been made to the Doctors and facilities in most cases. So, how does that then determine the amount foreigners PREPAY for birthing? One logical thing that seems to be up, is that your "thieving" facilities may be taking advantage of this ADDRESS issue to "defraud" and cheat your government.... Why take it out on the "ignorant"? Las las, una own dey una body abeg. Make una calm down!

@mrphysics, greetings able physicist smiley. I will briefly like to address the bolded part of your comment.

Every school (either in France or any part of the world) have reasons for rejecting student's application. If the reason for ones rejection is started, good and fine, it's an indication that one need to solidify his or her application and try another school. On a good note, 3 years of BSc education majorly in physics in France is the same or even more than the 4 years in Nigerian universities. Please, don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to water down Nigerian education system, I also passed through the same system.

Secondly, Bro, you said M1 curriculum was covered in your first year of bachelors in Nigeria cry? Hmm... Things seems different from whatever you see or read online about the curriculum of some universities majorly in France. Well, If you're speaking from experience, I agree with assertion, but if not, you will better understand what I'm saying once you get to France.

Cheers!!!

FINAL YEAR he said, not First Year.... And that's a lot of difference in terms of possibility methinks

Good morning folks. Kindly advice me on this: I applied for a student visa in 2007. I had to travel to lagos to sit for SAT exams as the centres were almost non existent in abuja then. Unfortunately I was issued a fake result. Unknowingly I took it to the embassy then and I was denied based on that document. Fast forward 12years after. I have an Msc, married with 3kids and work with an international development organisation. I now seek to apply to go to the US with just my wife and last born. My wife runs a business where she sells baby cloths and beauty products. I want to ask what are our chances of been issued a visa? Do you think I was banned when I first went to the embassy 12years ago? Is it better we apply to go the UK first before applying to the US embassy? Please not that I still do not have any travel history. I will appreciate your response and admonitions.

Good morning.

If you were banned you ought to know, because the VO surely would have informed you during/right after that interview. What was on the paper handed you by the VO after the interview? You have your answer there....

Meanwhile, whether you were banned or not, following Seyewest's advice will do you and your family a lot of good, really. Get some travel history (if you had this already, I would have advised you go ahead applying for the US visa alone at least) and do not unnecessarily get your family rubbed off upon with your "difference" with the America Embassy just yet, please.

If Dailypost news is anything to go by, I think we're cheating the Americans... grin
We charge $180 for visa fees and $30 for processing fees but sha this is 3 yrs ago (stale news)

That’s actually the way it is my broda. The news is 3 years ago though.... Even our Nigeria visa on arrival that is valid for only 15 days goes for about $180-200.

Reciprocity indeed! And we have several bitter people saying the Americans are “cheating” us, people that are so docile they can’t even ask their own government a single question oh!

One major thing I have come to realise is that as much as 80-90% persons with US visa refusals I have come across actually wanted to bolt with the visa. Then those with approval are mostly people that plan to go and come back (except for recent times sha), at least in my own circle. Una lie! In essence, these guys (VOs) are mostly getting their job done appropriately, yeah. Be sincere with yourselves please, the bulk of you lot busy liking some nonsense and senseless posts on here are majorly INTENDING IMMIGRANTS that got beaten to their own game, BITTER.... Simple!

Hey my beloved people,
I finally made it to the US, and I would like to share my experience at the POE in JFK, now that I have a computer as typing with my phone I lost my message three times.

Well I was totally unprepared, first time visiting the US. I flew from Lagos via Istanbul to JFK and landed midday'ish, travelling solo.
After a long queue, I get to the CBP officer to whom I hand my passport.

CBP Officer: Purpose of your visit?
Me: Tourism.
CBP Officer: Tooooouriiiiiism. (He says that prolonging the name as if I have made a mistake in my pronunciation). He finger prints me and stamps a date on the passport (six months).

By this time the little light indicators on his station had turned from green to red, and another officer standing nearby came and picked my passport and I was ushered in secondary.

Whew, Traditional SECONDARY INSPECTION! Always tougher than the embassy interview and all. Congratulations to you....

Loads of "psychological warfare" was at play here, majorly. Barrage of questions! Seems the target mostly was for you to cave in at some point depending on how legit you were. DS160 stylishly reviewed, travel plans reviewed, financial capacity ascertained again quickly. Surprised not to read of further questions per why you did 2 months in Spain.

The WhatsApp part, I'm interested too. Savvy nairalanders should kindly let us know how secure WhatsApp is please. Meanwhile, I got to Secondary Inspection in 2011, I have renewed a couple of times subsequently without answering YES to that question, no issues whatsoever, I think too the way you wrote it out here is not exactly a coinage/paraphrase of what is actually asked in the form, I doubt. Well, well, enjoy your time in the city that never sleeps!

Haba! Na wa for these your Visa terms. Anything that makes his visa to be approved automatically means he has successfully convinced the VO that he has no immigrant intend.
Why put those conditions on the visa? It means the vo is not convinced of his intentions and he/she shouldn’t approve it.
What if he travels within the one year likee you said , come back then finally use the Visa to Japa?
BTW, travel history is not really a criterion to get a B1/B2 visa.if you are able to convince the vo of your non immigrant intend, you are sure going to get it.
I got mine with Virgin Passport.

For your mind you think say you be "coded", abi? You can never like such visa conditions. You are as good as a "Pro" and travel history may not have been a big deal in your particular case, coupled with other variables you may have aced. You then think your application is in anyway like his? There's peculiarity in this thing.... Relax!

Good morning all
It’s good to be back here, I actually applied as a 400l Student for a B1/B2 VISA in Abuja and had My interview on 5th September, 2018 and was denied, the truth is that I have no immigrant intent the reason I haven’t reapplied because I am not desperate to have it, just want to visit My Uncle and come back. I have been thinking of the best time to reapply as I would Be Graduating in October and should be Serving hopefully Apri/May, 2020. Would that be a good time for me to apply? At least I would have to visit and return to complete My Service Year

Suggestions please

If I were a visa officer, I will approve a visa application by a first semester final year student ahead of both an "awaiting-corper" and a "serving-corper" because I for one believe it will be more difficult and painful for a final year student to jettison his/her academics compared to a Corper/awaiting-corper.

Meanwhile, I will also put a note and possibly an annotation on the approved application for the final year student to have a smooth POE experience only if the trip is made between that first semester and the break period between both semesters, and a tighter scrutiny should happen if travel is to be made anytime outside this period. I will even recommend the visa is cancelled outrightly at the POE if it's first usage is after one year of issuance or applicant's graduation from school, whichever comes first.

In essence, don't count much on "awaiting-NYSC" as ties to Nigeria, I'd rather you come up with something better from other considerable factors. Dig? What's your travel history like?

What is "heavily"? Well, I do use my GTB Dollar card attached to my Domiciliary Account with them, the charge is about $3 per ATM withdrawal transaction, and I was able to withdraw $500 from ATM transaction like that even though my host told me it was impossible for me to get that much in a single ATM transaction. I was taking only $200 per transaction previously, the little Igbo man in me wasn't satisfied nor happy about the restriction and I had to just try a higher figure withdrawal, and it worked!

I know this is the wrong thread but I will appreciate if someone could answer this question. Can someone visiting UK apply for a Canadian visit visa? Thank you

Yes, you can as long as you are legitimately there, even if on a visit visa (add your return ticket and do a convincing cover letter alongside the application). Apply online, give your biometrics there, get PPR and do passport submission there or any other place you find yourself at the PPR time.... I actually know of a case in France that PPR request came after Schengen visa expiration, and the person's wife already put in papers for him, and no proof of this was attached to the application at any time. Passport was submitted with heightened fear there in France and the Canada visa sticker was appended and returned successfully despite all the worries associated. This happened earlier on in the year, he applied for summer visit mid December with a valid schengen visa, got PPR late January after visa expiration, they just got back from their Canada visit lately.

It's the US visa you can not apply for while visiting another country (e.g the UK) with a visitor's visa except in very rare/exceptional cases

anfanio:

No. You have to be a legal resident in UK to apply.

Not exactly correct sir/ma

Actually i reapplied for a B2 since the last VO told me to do so when i want to deliver, but we selected dropbox instead of face to face interview. That was the same time dropbox was cancelled so we were stuck on either applying a third time or just notifying the embassy jeje. It was a gamble because they could have said i should use the visa as it was or just cancel it. And its not a change of intent letter, we were asking on what to do since we had used the visa for its initial purpose. Change of intent will mean we had concluded on using the current visa.

Thank God everything still pointed you back to this right way to go.... A big congrats to you on this feat! Been wondering what became of your Dropbox application, believed too that you would someday come back with the story however it went. I trust you know now that the bigger gamble would have been flying out on that visa like that after the warning you got at the interview for it, you would have hardly escaped CBP, and even if you did, renewal would have been near impossible.

Kindly ensure you stick to a minimum of the budgeted figure for the Medicals itself because of renewal time oh, don't touch anything cheaper. Congratulations once more....

A friend was at the embassy to get a B2 visa for birthing. This is their third missionary journey. This was their second attempt to get this visa.

At the first refusal he debated the low bills with the VO. Said he paid what he was billed. The VO then requested to see the kids birth certificate but they didn't go with it and they were denied.

When he talked about it I pointed out to him that the problem was that he used an American address instead of their Nigerian one in the birth certificates but he didnt take it serious.

At their second attempt, the VO repeated the same you are not qualified at this time...you can find the reason in this paper....However he didnt want to hear that line. cheesy. He asked her to tell them the real reason and she said the birth certificate carries a US address and hospitals use that to defraud the government etc.

After series of talks he then asked the VO if they were banned for life. Does this mean that they will never go to the US because of this? The VO said no. He then asked her when they will be eligible to go to the US since she said that they are not eligible now.

He further explained that the hospital didn't assist him to fill the birth documents. He went to the county and filled the forms. He insisted that the county clerk said the american address was okay.

The VO exited twice during the interview. She approved their visa when she returned the second time. grin

Something sweet, wow! Congratulations to them.... The US addie stuff was up sometime last year I believe, and almost exhaustively discussed. Those on missionary journeys that are advised to read up when they ask questions can actually have that/such as added knowledge if they did as advised instead of getting worked up. This VO was quite liberal with info if one should attempt to gauge, commendations to him.... A key question I may want to ask is, what was the low birthing bill, and maybe the facility used too?

Thanks alot but its the normal B1/B2 that people on this platform has been using na, and when they stamped me in at poe it was b2 for me and b1 for my daughter.

But i appreciate ur listed advise will use it well.

B1 for your daughter? On what ground please? Agreed that visas are issued us mostly as B1/B2, I’m however quite surprised when I see the way we mix up the B1 and the B2 visa categories when it’s time to attempt differentiating them whether as visa application experience or as POE experience. When we hear apply for a “medical visa”, why do we almost fall into thinking it’s another visa category altogether from a visit visa? It’s a/the B2 visa just like the one for visiting, pleasure visits, tourist visits, holidaying/vacationing, etc. All we are saying summarily is that let it be on record, make it plain from the very beginning both to the embassy/VO and the POE that you want to birth in the US, and then go through the required processes and motions therein to forestall future “wahala”. I pray though, that you are able to sort the matters on ground someday, and maybe soon. All the best!

Meanwhile, as for going the Canada route, you barely have enough time to pull that through if I got you right at some point, those ones are currently taking like forever to process applications....
