Hello please I need your help.

So my mum, my sister and younger brother want to go on holiday to America. The following is their travel history:

My mum and sis = on 10 years UK’s visas(both travel every year)

Mum = has been to the US b4 (spent 2weeks) but visa has expired.

Mum, sis, bro= all been to Dubai on a family holiday as it’s what we do.

Bro= schooled in SA for a year but he’s never had a uk visa and was denied one last year because he only just graduated from school.

My question is, do they all stand a good chance of getting it with this travel history?

They r going on another family holiday this Easter in Washington and my elder brother who Is British is joining them over there from London. Both him and my sister are sponsoring cos mum doesn’t work and my younger brother only started working 4 months ago, though he has a job that pays 150k monthly.

As for me I don’t plan going with them this time because I’ll be busy with work.

Mum and sister's chances are pretty high, younger brother's chances aren't exactly good. Maybe the family Dubai trip may help though. But overall, it seems he's the main interest of this trip, others are decoy,, that would hardly get past a VO's radar....

Well, will just wait to see the response to this your question in order to be sure I was not just assuming. He seemed to have attempted to pull a fast one with the Canada twist to the application coupled with a very minute account balance. How was that going to fly? Dunno

Maybe they'll remove medical from B2 visa category and create a B3 visa category for it. Limiting the broad use of the B2 visa will effectively reduce birth tourism.

They may add testing before entry later on like was done in Saipan to ensure you don't use a B2 Visa for birthing.

Or they can adopt a process whereby you have to submit your proof of status in the US, and if it has B2 on it, your child won't be given a US passport or SSN.

Hello everyone! I had my son in Emory in 2018. With all the stories of getting rejected because of low Bills and filling B1/B2 instead of B2 when filling forms, I was so worried about my interview. I'm pleased to say we had a successful application in Abuja. Here is the transcript.

VO: Good morning, may I have your passports please.
(I hand them over)
VO: Have you two ever travelled together before?
DH: Yes
VO: Where?
DH: Houston
VO: Was he born in the US? (Points at my toddler)
DH: Yes
VO: Do you plan on having another baby in the US
DH: Yes, in the future.
VO: Are you pregnant right now?
Me: Nods
Types for a while
VO: What do you do?
Me: Bleep
VO: And you?
DH: Bleep
VO: When are you travelling?
DH: In April
VO: For how long?
DH: 2 weeks (dh has an academic trip so we will go together and he will be back after 2 weeks while I stay back)
VO: Where is your other child?
DH: he's in boarding school, we didn't want to disrupt his schooling
VO: will he be making this trip too?
DH: Yes, the whole family
VO: Do you have any relatives in the US?
Dh: no we don't
VO: How much did you spend for the last birth?
Me: A total of about 7,100 (doc, epidural, hospital, tests, paediatrician)
VO: Where was this?
Me: Atlanta
Types for a while
VO: I'll be granting you your visas, please go ahead and pay your reciprocity fee.

Very short and straightforward. I've been so excited! Thanking God for favour.

Now I can ask. Please I need accommodation in Atlanta, any ideas?

Ah! New VOs don come town? Is there a new development or some sort of magical consultation has taken place? Wow, this is so wonderful!

Big congratulations to you and your family, this is awesome....

I noticed you always put blame on the present administration
Guess what? You are wrong.

Nigeria is messed up long time ago.

As for me, I have courage and believe this lively country will be better one day

Okay sir, copied!

I got into Toronto a few days ago, on holidays, will be in the US for some time too from next week, come and see "saner climes" na. I just picked up my gadget now to update myself about home. I'm phased, annoying news everywhere. Amotekun, what about it? What happened in Imo today please? I just hope I'm able to see my kids through Secondary School before shipping them out of Nigeria to their "homes", I pray. I have put too much in Nigeria, it saddens me today. Government has never put bread directly on my table, an enabling environment created by them in time past deserves my appreciation today when I reason them side by side this current one.

I won't waste energy right now saying much, but I will just say you guys are the biggest problem of Nigeria, Buharists particularly! Yeah, Nigeria is messed up long ago, but Buhari is the greatest disservice done our dear nation. Nigeria's "turn-around-maintenance" after him will take decades. Kill and shelve that nonsense hope of a better Naija, only a miracle will make that happen, please....

All I have to tell you Buharists on this thread, is that, the way Embassies are treating us as at this day is a direct reflection of the hopes and prospects of that dream Nigeria we all have, basically. Deceive yourselves all you will. A brighter Nigeria post GMB is gonna be a lot of work no doubt!

As long as e no kill una, e no go fit still kill us. Abi una get special market, roads, schools, hospitals, electricity, etc wey una dey use wey different from the ones wey the rest of us dey use? You lot know the pains you'd never admit in the open for that FAILURE, you'd prefer to rather pretend, suffering and smiling, hoping for one elusive future of a better Naija!

I have noticed that all of us that know we can easily jettison Naija and run off when the chips are down actually make up the bulk of those with these false hopes, it's a bad one please. I can afford to do much for my family if push comes to shove, I have prepared the grounds for them, I have paid some reasonable dues for their future, they may not even be needing me that much, but how about the generality of our people? Oh, please! Please all of you, please!!!

This is what me too I'm asking o. Would paying a part of it suffix?. Or would having a payment plan suffix.
Or better still, one would just sit àt home and go somewhere else till America decides to come back to their senses.

Lolz! That's actually a lot of difference to offset though. If the opportunity is there to make amends by way of more payment, I'd think getting it up to some 12-15k may make sense. Let's not forget that the previous 8-10k or less was out of pocket.... It's a long thing with the US visa ish for those that birthed previously in the US, so methinks. There isn't even any clearcut blueprint from the embassy on this. One would go pay another 2-5M Nigeria Naira and maybe get turned down thereafter, that'd be crazy you know.

Culled from the Canada birthing thread

Mamajam:
Hello, it's a slightly long read. Please bear with me.

So I have been following this thread for about 9 weeks...right after I got the mail about the RHA letter.

Brief intro...I submitted my online application 13th September, did my biometrics 16th September, got the RHA Letter mail 11th November, made the required payments and sent my receipts and the letter 26th November. Till date, I'm yet to get a response. I have sent emails and filled the webform but nothing yet from the VOs.

On Tuesday 7th January, hubby and I were discussing other options, we were really considering Barbados because it's Visa free for Nigerians and I don't have time to waste waiting for a Visa (I'm starting my 35th week today).

Eventually, we decided on me renewing my American Visa. I have been quite averse to renewing my American Visa due to all the negative news one has been hearing about Visa denials due previous birth(s) in America. Also, hubby tried renewing his American Visa sometimes in November but he was denied after he presented my itemized bill. The VO was however kind enough to mention to him that what we paid was quite low for vaginal birth ($6.5k for OBGYN, Hospital and Epidural).

Hubby decided that we would pay back the discount the hospital gave us. I disagreed initially due to all the stories I had heard. I had concluded that once you have had baby in America, irrespective of the amount paid, kiss your Visa renewal bye until further notice. Eventually I agreed for him to pay the discount (still had no intention of renewing my American Visa as I believed I would get a positive response from the Canadian Visa request)

Cut the long story short, I applied for the B2 American Visa on Tuesday 7th January, got an interview date for today and my Visa request was granted.

The only document the VO asked to see was my itemized bill from my 1st delivery. Total payment made was about $14.5k after paying back the discount. After perusing my itemized bill and other receipts, he said I should go to pay the N40.7k reciprocity fee......and when I turned to leave, he said I should ensure I also pay my bill in full again.

It's worthy to note that asides from my itemized bill, I had my Dr. correspondence (using the same OBGYN I previously used so it was easy for her to send me a letter within 24 hours of contacting her) and I also had other supporting documents that could have been requested for.

Finally, for anyone on this thread who's interested in Birth tourism, I would highly recommend that you apply for an American Visa whilst waiting for a feedback on the Canadian request. Just have all the necessary documents when you go for your interview and pray for God's favour. I have been praying for favour and confessing positively since I submitted my application on Tuesday night. I believe God would grant us all our heart's desires.

Cheers

If visa is approved and the applicant traveled outside Lagos same day, what are the options to arrange passport delivery through DHL to applicant's home state. Given that passports are sent here: Victoria Island - Lagos DHL Plot 230 Muri Okunola Street Victoria Island, Lagos. Applicant did not make any arrangement with DHL before leaving Lagos.

You have 30 days to go pick it up since you didn't make any pick up arrangement, especially if there's no designated DHL office working with them in your home state. Seems there's none in the South East oh! PH and Benin have one each

The VOs have posted on Nairaland explicitly that they do not read the change of intent letter nor attach it to your file. This issue is no longer an issue of speculation.

Yes, but we did read here from people who got called in for interview after/for sending that letter, some were able to wriggle through the ensuing interview successfully, some had their visas cancelled (even husband's by extension were affected), some that didn't turn up at the Embassy couldn't fly with their visa, etc.

They won’t even send her back at the POE. The worst that can happen will happen upon renewal but if you are done having all your babies- one day they will renew for you even if they reject you. You are better off with your baby getting citizenship now and you not getting your visa than having your baby in Nigeria and still not getting a renewed visa.

You better don’t mind this people telling you to go and renew a visa that is still valid. If they deny you you have lost everything. I only wonder if they would have done the same thing or advised their sister or wide to do the same if they were in your situation.

Fully in on this! She can only have issues with CBP if they have ought against/with her bills for the previous birthing and or if she isn't able to let them see clearly she's paying much more reasonably for this one. They are that reasonable....

Huh...so you're encouraging her to still go ahead to take the risk of uncertainty.

What if she's refused entry into the US and her visa also cancelled for not disclosing using the visiting visa for childbirth during the interview?

That so-called "intent letter change" no longer works.

But as expected Nigerians with our stubbornness to get what we want at all cost will not make us listen to preventive repercussion advise.

Acquaint yourself with the person's situation first, you will understand why option 3 comes across as her best option. She needs to even use it to correct whatever may be the shortcoming of the previous birthing experience. If she goes in for an interview now, the chances of refusal are higher than high IMO. She hasn't done anything wrong so far except for the "discounted bills" so to speak (the exact reason I feel she won't scale through an interview at the moment). She has used the visa for the purpose it was issued, gone on to birth with it too having sent a Notification/Change of Intent Letter (which she doesn't have to dare send now - Bluefin may have missed it here on her advice) that she got a go-ahead for, didn't have issues with CBP, etc. And she actually will not have issues with CBP now if she goes ahead

You and Twood's advice for her on this to be fair and honest would be "suicidal" at the moment. Aunty, please, don't listen to them on this oh, please. Just do loads with the window you yet have in preparation for your renewal interview to soften things ahead. Pay well for this, look for a way round upgrading payments for the previous birthing where necessary and doable, just ensure you reduce the load you'd be bearing during your renewal interview. In essence, birth this child first before daring yourself with them at the embassy, your chances are slim, improve your chances as opportune....

My previous response to her situation is posted below, still going with it

OmoBendel24:

Since things changed last year, I usually will advise you run with the quite risky but the very best option 1. But option 3 is the best for your case being that you did use the visa for its initial purpose, went ahead later to birth with it having sent in a Notification/Change of Intent Letter that was acknowledged and you also stated clearly at POE then what you were in the US for. Currently, you won't have issues at the POE, you are actually qualified to Birth with the B1/B2 visa in the US and you are in good standing as it were for such.

Only ensure a solid burden of proof including payment receipts for previous missionary journey embarked upon, do things now in preparation for visa renewal, especially paying well for this particular birthing to bring some sort of equilibrium per the previous one if at all you didn't pay well for it then (you can also look for a way round upping whatever you paid just in case you see as at today in your assessment that it was low. Someone said and I support same, if there's no way to officially up payment for previous bills, do some documented/receipted charity to the facility please).

Give it a go.... Best wishes!

Option 3 seems to be the best bet as all others seem to have heavier consequences...
Option 1...applying for a new visa wtout d expiration of the old visa may trigger cancellation of the old visa n subsequent denial
2...bears the same weight...n even stress of travelling, air fare and being sent back
4...U already wrote d consequences...
So i'd probably just embark on correct fasting and prayers for option 3...if am been denied subsequent renewals later even after i've proven my payments wt receipts then i'd just take a chill pill...I can't come and kill mysef...

You can as well share your cousin’s friend’s contact details so people can get this letters through her, if she wants to get paid for it, I want to believe people wouldn’t mind paying her for it.

We don't ever learn, and that's bad. We are not even seeing what we already have on our plate per this Canada birthing journey, we are rather looking at how to destroy what's left of it at all. My joy is that many of us here are also aware and maybe coming from the US axis and understand the implication of crowding a source.

Let's research please, this approach won't take us nowhere. This person has just somewhat pointed all to a direction to look at when making birthing plans, IT MUST NOT BE IN EXACT SAME DIRECTION! We can do something for ourselves please, and by extension even have us improved.

MAKE UNA NO CAST CANADA UNNECESSARILY, THINGS DON ALREADY BAD, NO NEED TO COMPLICATE ISSUES EVEN MORE WITH IRRATIONALITY!

Hello Everyone,

Please I have a question...When I was filling my form it was for child birth and while filling the form, I filled that I didn’t know anyone in the US which was true and Infact I had paid for my ticket to virginia (which I still have)where I was meant to birth my child last year but I had a family emergency and I was unable to travel so fast forward to September I met someone through a friend and she asked me to visit for a week her in Dulles this year which I have booked a flight for...Please would there be any issue at the POE since I filled that I was to travel for childbirth in Virginia and was given the B1/B2 visa which I didn’t use and now I am going to Dulles to shop for my baby and visit a friend who wasn’t my friend as at the time I was filling my form.

Thank you.

No biggie, in good standing still. You birthed in Naija, abi? Not like you are going there to birth now in Dulles? Going rather for visiting and shopping, lesser "evils" compared to birthing cheesy. Just however be careful per your explanation as to how this friend is now "sudden", if it's the truth, you need not worry, it will be conspicuous.

Truth is the coverage of that your B visa is much more wider than most, you will only "offend" them the moment you use it to birth at a cost cheaper than you went for the visa interview with.
