... except they want to destroy Southern unity.

With the combined rule of Obasanjo and Osinbajo, the Yorubas have stayed 16yrs (once the current tenure of the VP completes) out of a possible 21yrs in the corridors of the Presidency.

It is only trite that they shelve any further presidential ambition until the South East rules 8yrs and South South completes their 4yrs to balance the equation. Anything short of this, one of the Southern geopolitical zone will destroy the Southern unity by aligning with the North for political gains.

What do you think?
Is not about making threat here and there for an Igbo presidency..It will not just fall on your lap like that..For goodness sake, aside from Peter Obi who is the only Igbo leader that has that public appeal and more popular due to his antecedent as a governor and the fact that he has been expose nationally, due to the past presidential campaign with Atiku, I cant find any other candidate from the East that can really be considered as a credible candidate..

The leaders that are in APC, are either exconvict, like (Orji Uzor Kalu) then Okorocha, the clown that love spending scares resources on building statues &making too much noise for all to hear. He piratically leave less to be desired as a leader.Or is it the Chris Ngige who is arrogant and does not seem to have empathy for the masses and the labour force as a whole. Then coupled with the fact that many Igbo leaders have poor track records while they were governors , makes it even harder to do an easy pick among the contenders from the East. ..
However, If the Igbo can bring in technocrats like Bart Nnaji and other credible Igbo sons that have national appeal in both parties, then people can then choose who to merge them with for presidential election...That is if their leaders decide to play their cards very well, by lobbying other regions and making preparation to ensure that all Easterners backs & support any of thier sons that emerges as the presidential candidate.
Funny enough, I was thinking that by now, your leaders in the East would have started lobbying the rest of the region to favour a South Eastern Candidate and move further in restoring old bridges that have been burned as a result of past events, as well renew friendship with old allies from other regions.
That is how you do things and not chest beating up and down. Knowing that politics is all amount making consultations and lobbying others to support your cause.

Biafra may not be better for Niger Deltans because Niger Deltans may end up living one form of subjugation for another. The argument Igbos have made for their freedom is the desire to be free from Hausa-Yoruba domination. That argument also applies to the average Niger Deltan. Igbo, no doubt, will be the major ethnic group if Biafra is actualised. Ijaws may have a stake due to their numbers. What about the Ogonis, Urhobo-Isokos, Itsekiris, Efiks, etc? Where will they fit in at the national level? The sad reality is that another Nigeria will just be made manifest and resentments will build up. What will really be the fate of minorities? Will they fare better in Biafra or alone? In Nigeria, big groups such as Hausa, Yoruba and Igbo checkmate each other’s excesses very well. Who will checkmate that of Igbos in the new nation?
what business does the Niger Delta have with BIAFRA ? Thier struggle is not our struggle so why include us into Biafra. Pls let the Biafra be only for the eastern region .

Travel › Britain Will Issue Up To 10,500 Temporary visa by omoharry(op): 8:20pm On Sep 26, 2021
Britain will issue up to 10,500 temporary work visas to lorry drivers and poultry workers to ease chronic staff shortages, the government announced Saturday, in a U-turn on post-Brexit immigration policy.

The short-term visas, to run from next month until late December, come as ministers grapple with a huge shortfall in drivers and some other key workers that has hit fuel supplies and additional industries.

A tanker drivers shortage has caused large queues at petrol stations in recent days, as people ignore government pleas not to panic-buy fuel after some garages closed due to the lack of deliveries.

The decision to expand the critical worker visa scheme is a reversal by Prime Minister Boris Johnson, whose government had tightened post-Brexit immigration rules insisting that Britain’s reliance on foreign labour must end.

It had resisted the move for months, despite an estimated shortage of around 100,000 heavy goods vehicle (HGV) drivers and warnings from various sectors that supplies would run short.

Transport Secretary Grant Shapps nevertheless insisted he was taking action “at the earliest opportunity” and that a broader package of measures announced would ensure pre-Christmas preparations “remain on track”.

“The industries must also play their part with working conditions continuing to improve and the deserved salary increases continuing to be maintained in order for companies to retain new drivers,” he added.
But one business leader dismissed the new measures as inadequate.

– Millions of pounds for ‘skills bootcamps’ –
“This announcement is the equivalent of throwing a thimble of water on a bonfire,” said Ruby McGregor-Smith, president of the British Chambers of Commerce.

The additional testing would take time to impact while new visa numbers were “insufficient” and not “enough to address the scale of the problem”, she added.

The new measures will focus on rapidly expanding the number of new domestic drivers, and include deploying Ministry of Defence driving examiners to help provide thousands of extra tests over the next 12 weeks.

Meanwhile, the education ministry and partner agencies will spend millions of pounds training 4,000 people to become HGV drivers, creating new so-called “skills bootcamps” to speed up the process.

Nearly 1 million letters will also be sent to all drivers who currently hold an HGV licence, asking any not currently driving to come back to work.
Morris Johnson has been under increasing pressure to act, after the pandemic and Brexit combined to worsen the haulier shortage and other crises emerged, including escalating energy prices.

As well as threatening timely fuel supplies, the lack of lorry drivers has hit British factories, restaurants and supermarkets in recent weeks and months.

US burger chain McDonald’s ran out of milkshakes and bottled drinks last month, fast-food giant KFC was forced to remove some items from its menu, while restaurant chain Nando’s temporarily shut dozens of outlets due to a lack of chicken.

Supermarkets are also feeling the heat, with frozen-food group Iceland and retail king Tesco warning of Christmas product shortages. ‘It’s ridiculous’ –
This week it was the turn of the fuel sector, with growing lines of cars clogging the approaches to petrol stations following some closures and panic-buying, particularly in southeast England.

Drivers appeared less than reassured Saturday, as queues again formed for fuel.

Mike Davey, 56, had been waiting more than half an hour to fill up at a petrol station run by the supermarket chain Tesco in Kent, southeast of London.

“I just want to get some fuel to get to work. People are just like filling up jerry cans — it’s ridiculous,” he told AFP.

“Maybe they need to bring some army drivers in,” Davey added.

The government has so far resisted calls to deploy soldiers to help deliver petrol directly.

As part of the measures announced, taxpayers will also help pay for some adult HGV license applications in the next academic year — which can cost thousands of pounds — through an adult education budget fund.

Politics aside , it's time we the people of the south throw our weight on Peter Obi from south east.

Let's stand together for unity and progress, am sure the people of the SE and SS knows his value, if the SW joins the wagon, we can then together present our candidate to the North.

Am not here to blow the trumpet of Peter Obi, am not saying he is a saint or the saviour but the track record of this man speaks for itself.

His stand before politics, his envying standards during his political era and his position after power definitely marked him out..

Osibanjo is a nice man, eminently qualified to be the president of this nation but let's be honest, the candidacy of Osigbanjo will create more problems in this country, the SE might feel neglected, the SS might feel cheated even the so called North will see it as an opportunity.

The Northern elders forum has made their opinion clear, they will sell a candidate from the North presumably ATIKU, forget the drama playing in APC , Northern APC will tactical back Atiku, they did it before during Jonathan, despite been in PDP , they worked against Jonathan..

Am no longer interested in partisan politics, I stand for the right thing , the Asian world that I saw recently opened my eyes, these are countries that were rated with Nigeria , today they are fast moving ahead competing with the great powers..

Forget about TINUBU, ATIKU, WIKE AND THE REST OF THESE MEN, they're politicians only interested in their interest and nothing else....

Peter Obi, Osibanjo, Dr Okowa, Fashola, Okonjo Iweala, Adesina , these are the sort of men and women Southern Nigeria should look up for presidency and kind of calibre of people our youth and children should look up to..

South west , I call you on you to drop your quest for another presidency, vote an ibo man out of merit, 8 years of Obasanjo and 8 years of Osibanjo is enough for now in the spirit of brotherhood, anything less than that is a NORTHERN PRESIDENCY (both in APC and PDP) with either SE or SS as VP...

Enough of a divided south, enough of playing games , will implore the southern governor's forum to boldly declare their support for a SE presidency, that will show that we are serious for our turn..
The problem is not with the other region but the very south east . You should be more focus on uniting your region , especially your leaders to a accept Peter Obi.
Secondly , Pdp might be zoning the presidencial ticket to the north .so that will exclude Peter obi from race .Except he will decamp to another party that will zone the presidential ticket to the SE. Like I said to someone .
If APC zones the presidential ticket to the south .it will sure break the recent southern unity .

Fellow southerners, sometimes in life it's mishaps, negativity, stiff oppositions and difficulties that charge us to act with full strength.

Inother words, our enemies makes us better men. Buhari is a God sent to the south as without him , we will never know that we are in a deep pit and that we need strong determined leaders to stand firm and lead the people..

Since the inception of this country, only Obasanjo (not as head of state) has been a strong leader from the south whilst the north had many strong leaders (head of state) who intimidated the south, today Buhari has borrowed that leaf so to subjugate the south to eternal slavery.

As the quest for southern presidency continues to heat up, the south in general should understand what is at set which is a strong determined leadership from the south.

It's time to show the north who truly owns this nation, a replicate of what BUHARI has done is at best the minimum benchmark of any southern presidency.

Thank goodness for men like Akeredolu who despite a member of the president's party still stands firm in the southern belief.

The southern people has understand that there is a serious competition going on with the north, they understand now that each of the southern region deserves good representation and not power mongers and ass lickers all thanks to Buhari.

They have understood that the north cares less of the south and sees them as just political foot stool, all thanks to Buhari..

Today , we are talking about VAT, regional security, restructuring, power devolution and so on all thanks to Buhari.

This presidency is a blessing in a disguise for all the southerners. A time will come when we will remember that this presidency of Buhari was the turning point of our progress..
This southern unity will crash very soon , when the presidential ticket is zone to the south . You will see the southern gladiators fighting and backstabbing one another just to clinch that position to Thier region .It will be the South East Vs south West . Let bet?

This will eventually break up the new found southern unity if this arrangement is not done fairly.knowing that every ethic group is naturally selfish . The SW has the unity and a unified sence of purpose if they are given the ticket .So is the SS region .However ,the South East people are divided and very difficult to come under one umbrella to form a united front so as to win that seat. They will be divided out of spite for the choosen person and would rather sabotage the whole plan.
SE people need to put Thier house in order.is not about clamouring for the ticket but the ability unite the region & other regions to win the seat
