Okay. Thank you. It will not be included in her application giselle237: Gm please delete the above from anywhere and anything surrounding her application. She can not say she is coming for a whooping 5 months on her application form. If/when she gets the visa, she can decide to enact her original plans but do well to keep such length of stay away from the visa form especially if she has no immigration/travel history. |

Congratulations to her eyiye: VISA ALERT!!!
After 3 refusals for my Mum;
1st: 2018 2nd: 2018 3rd: 2022
4th: Approval
Its been a journey but it ended in praise.
Biometric date: 18th July 2023 Moved to DMC next day Passport collection: 9th August 2023
The wait was a tough one, I was worried for my Mum because it will be devasting for her if its a refusal again.
All glory be to God.
Standard application...I didn't want to rush it. |

Good day everyone,
Please assist me with this enquiry. I am a student in the UK and I want my Mum to visit. Here are our circumstances
1. She is a retiree and receives a small amount of monthly pension. 2. I am a student with 2 kids in the UK and have been in the UK for 7 months. 3. I am not working but my partner takes care of our maintenance. 4. Our utility bills are in both names - myself and my partner. We stay in a 3-bed apartment. 5. My mum will be sponsoring herself for the trip. She plans to stay in the UK for 5 months. 6. My mum has around 3 million naira in her account which were supports by her other children for the UK visit. Her pension allowance cannot and can never be enough for a week's trip. 7. She is 64 years old.
Here are my questions: 1. What are the document required to apply for her visit visa? 2. How long should the money stay in her account before applying for a visa? 3. What would you advise before starting the application process?
Your recommendations will be highly appreciated. Thank you |

Visa Alert! Visa Alert! Visa Alert!
My appreciation goes to @dduchess90 @lolade88 @Gloriyah and all those who have contributed to this forum in one way or the other. You have helped me in your own ways. God bless you.
This is a long read, I apologise in advance
14th Aug - Application to University of Lincoln 31st Oct - Conditional letter 5th Nov - Unconditional letter 7th Nov - Deposit paid, request for CAS 28th Nov - Received CAS 4th Dec - Visa application (MA) 6th Dec - Visa application (Child Dependant) 7th Dec - Biometrics (MA and Dependant) 9th Dec- Empty NSF (MA) 9th Dec - Additional doc request (Dependant) 15th Dec - Uploaded doc requested (Dependant) 19th Dec - Paid mail for both MA and Dependant Several paid mails and calls 27th Dec - Biometrics letter dropped (MA) 28th Dec- Collection mail (MA) 29th - DHL brought passport. Decision made 23rd Dec, Vignette sitting pretty and smiling (MA)
This is where the story begins on dependants application
I did several paid mail and paid calls. Decision has been made but they cannot disclose the outcome of the decision. I should wait until VAC tells me I should come and pick the passport before going. After all the prayers and fasting, mail dropped and....
4th Jan 23 - Visa denied (Dependant is a 5 year old girl)
The visa refusal was because during the 28 days of the bank statement rendered and using the OANDA rate of the date of application, naira equivalent of £30 dropped. Meaning that one of the account balance for the day on the statement was less than £30 pounds. I cried my eyes out that day. The most painful part is that I have another bank statement that I would have merged, which is a domiciliary account and there is some money in it which would have been enough and over what was required.
I thought of what to do. I couldn't find any solution and doing an administrative review wasn't an option as the outcome can take up to 6 months, and it costs £80. I was discouraged, but I still believed God can do wonders afterall I have put everything in Gods hands. I cried myself to sleep.
5th of Jan - I wrote a full 2 page appeal letter that I cannot leave her because she is small, a girl child, I am the only parent, blablabla. I mentioned the trauma she is likely to experience, breakdown etc - the thing too much. I then wrote a 4 page cover letter admitting my fault and telling them that I have another account that can be merged. The cover letter covered everything I have been doing for her since conception to birth, all our hospital visits, her allergies everything, and I am the only person who can take god care of her as she is only a minor.
Hmmm, I attached all the previous documents I have submitted earlier and uploaded 2 months bank statement for both accounts as against the 28 days bank statement and sent to all the channels they have ever communicated me with - Amendment, Escalation, Document, BRP, all of them. With all of these they did not reply me. Days runs into weeks no reply. Did paid call and paid mail - decision has been made since 23rd of Dec (Visa refusal).
I lost hope in it and started demanding for passport to be returned. I write mail tire.......
18th Jan - I travelled to the UK - School resumes by 23rd Jan 18th Jan - IHS Refunded 30th Jan - Collection mail to return passport 31st Jan - I started another visa application. Saved it and was going to pay for IHS and Visa the next day. 1st of Feb - BRP mail dropped (Visa successful). Decision made 27th Jan. I cried and cried. This would be my very first experience of crying for joy. Not to exaggerate, I cried for more than 30mins, praising God and crying at the same time. IT WAS A MIRACLE THAT I CANNOT COMPREHEND. 1st of Feb - DHL delivered passport - Vignette sitting pretty - My daughters picture was too fine in it. God is wonderful. Coincidentally, it was my sons birthday. Double celebration in the house.
This is my story and I give God all the glory. I pray that everyone waiting fir a miracle as mine will receive in JESUS name. AMEN! |

dduchess90: Hello
That's fine
Can you include a very detailed cover letter in responding to the request and explain the documents you have included, it should state your GWF no and when you made your application,it should draw the ECO attention to the court documents.
2. Add the Birth certificate and other documents (hospital letter, school letter and receipts/invoices of bills paid on your little ones behalf) that you had submitted previously
3. Does the court order give him visiting rights? Can you add a consent letter from the father with his ID?
4. How old is your little one? Have you attempted to make any childcare arrangements and can you include such evidence in your cover letter and as part of documents you submit?
Cheers Thank you @dduchess90 for the prompt response. It wasn't written anywhere in the order if he has visiting rights or not. I will include all previously uploaded documents and a detailed cover letter as well. My little one is 5 years old and has been with me all her life. The father consented to her travelling with me and we have a letter signed by him. Yes she has been admitted into reception year in UK |

Zahra29: I don't know the area, but just wanted to advise that your 2.9 year old would not be eligible for a school place until the September after their 4th birthday.
You would need to apply to the council for a place for your 5 year old. As the school year is already in session you might find that the schools of your choice are full and you have to go on a waiting list or accept a place in a different school. Thank you and |

dduchess90: Hello
This doesn't apply to student visa, it would for visiting though. However people prefer to print statements after any lump deposit was made
The question is what visa catergory are you applying for?
Cheers The visa category is student visa. The account holding my POF (complete) is a busy one. I transact on it all the time. Since I also use it to receive money which can be up to 1m at one deposit, could it be considered as lump sum? Remember my POF is complete and it is not adding to my POF. AND if the said amount is considered as lump sum, would I need to write a cover letter explaining what's it's meant for? |

January 2023 or September 2023. I have received unconditional letter for University of Lincoln and it is boldly stated there that I have been discounted £5,000. My tuition is £16,200. The rest as they say is history.

I have been a silent reader but I can say categorically that this thread and all the participants were the reason we did it ourselves against using paid agents. The confidence espoused was motivating, hence our decision to go alone, even after agreeing with an agent. Immeasurable thanks to @justwise, @Duchess90 and so many others that made it look possible and kept the stress levels down with words of encouragement. The Lord replenish your effort.
See you there!! |
