na wa o. this thread stil de? after almost a year of not logging in to nairaland, i log in today to meet this same old thread! this is probably the stickiest of all sticky threads. even more surprising is the fact that some of the old guys who should be comming to the end of their training by now like ranbaxy, robie lex, miketomi, anniwil, cutesy are still on the thread. this is really wonderful.

as for you one voice, stop trying to kill people's hope. am currently taking a course on energy and environment and i can assure u that if the oil finishes, the world will come to an end. yes cars on water are being built, but the cars dont run on water alone. they still need petroleum products, the only reduce the amount of co2 released into the atmosphere. it has olso been proven that solar powered cars are not sustainable and are not feasible for real life situations. yes there are many technological advances, but they all still rely on oil and gas for back up. even bio mass and hydrogen fuels require a lot of electricity to produce them, the amount that can only be got from burning of fossil fuels.

so wether we like it or not, oil and gas will remain our main source of energy for a long long time to come since we still cant harness the ernomous energy of the sun substantially.

so believe me wen i say, if the oil finishes today, the world will end tomorrow.

all shell hopefuls, keep up the hope, and even if u don get to be chosen at last, dont despair, there are always other open doors, I found one of them.

an honest advice from someone studying in the uk presently.

do your oceanic medicals, pray hard, get and hold the job and stay in 9ja.

if however u decide to take the foolish step like i did, really the bottom line is the grade you get at graduation. if u graduate with a distinction from any uni, u stand a better chance than a merit graduate from any other uni.

but I assure u, you will not get a job in the uk that will pay you better than oceanic bank will give u, and based on the present situation of things in uk, with thousands of job cuts, credit crunch and economic reccession, oceanic remains your best bet, i assure u.

I dumped caverton marine to come here and now every day i wonder if i have not made the worst mistake of my life. the final decision is yours. be wise, stay home.

anyway, i will still stick around if u allow me, at least i still have friends here and i could still be of some help to other hopefuls.
someone asked what level i got to? i did the SRD, i was told that i did very well in the thechnical test, that my problem was in the CAR assessment, so all you hopefuls should be very careful in your CAR assessment.
i am still with u.

after waiting all this time, i finally get a mail from shell to know that i should wait no more, and that i should reapply in 2 yrs time.

@edoblakky, there is a strong element of truth in that statement because from what i was told, majority of those in the "discuss list" will be successful since only few people met with the 88% mark. and more people did not get up to 77%. so keep your fingers crossed. meanwhile who told you?

I am not speculating. if you kno someone who got first class, he probably did not do too well in the SRD, and if you know someone with 2;2, he had waec in one sitting and blasted the SRD. of course there are others that cant be "overlooked". you know "very long legged persons"
But pls keep the hope alive. those people in this group stand a great chance of making it. i expect more good news than bad ones, it will only take longer waiting. so keep ur hearts in your chests.

hi nairalanders, long time no post! i have been very busy, too busy to post. i havent gotten any mail yet, of nine people in my group, 5 have recieved mails, 3 +ve, 2-ve.
remember i told u there were 3 groups, the outright unsuccessful, the successful group is divided into two viz, those that did well at the SRD and have correct CV- waec in 1 sitting, first class or 2:1; and those that equally did very well in the SRD, but have a problem with their CV- waec in 2 sittings or 2:2 degree.
now they have finished sending mails to the first two groups, and now they have started considering people in the third group. this is the dicey group, anyone could make it now and anyone could be rejected just keep praying. we have until february to know our fate. there seems to be many people in that group, up to 80 people, so anything can happen. lets just keep the faith. God still dey.

sorry o! am sure he was too confused to tell you. am sure he did not know how to tell u. well i should not be making excuses for him, but if it is true that he is actually married, i mean if it is a confirmed fact, i think you should just forget him and go on with your life. contacting him will only spark off dying fires and it could ruin everyone involved in the scene, so just forget it. if he contacts you, play cool, if not frge ahaed abeg.

we have heard, seen, and felt all there is to SITP. we just need to be one in prayers. Baba God will never let us down. we will all get there in Jesus name. and not forgeting the HR/Fin people, the God that is leading us there now will also lead uguys there in ur ow time in Jesus name, amen.

sorry to say, arsenal spoilt everything for themselves when they failed to top their group even when they could easily have done so. now they have AC Milan to attend to. next year wen they come back, they will know better than to waste golden opportunities. arsenal and liverpool are out of the UCL. lets see what happens to man u and chelsea.

I have also been told earlier that the training is extremely intensive. but then, if anybody can qualify to be there, that person should be able to survive the intensity of the training abi? please all SITP hopefuls, do not dispair, let not your hearts not be troubled by the 50+1 hr exam or whatever. by God's grace, we will succeed.

as for next SITP test, its always may/june, every year for engineering and physical sciences.

however una look blatter, it takes nothing away from the fact that england has lost it completely when it comes to international football, period!

i agree with nibeachu. go online, u can go tru google. the school will give u a complete rundown of everything u need. some schools take about 7000 pounds while some take as much as 13000 to 15000 pounds.
but in all, u will need like 4.5 million naira for everything. good luck.
