Hashimyussufamao: Death Sentence For Blasphemy At Kano: A Perspective by O. G. Chukkol
I have been following arguments on social media for the past two days about the death sentence passed on one Yahaya Aminu Sheriff for blasphemy (insulting prophet Mohammed PBH) at Kano.
Let me make few observations here:
[s]1. There is actually a Shariah Penal Code law in Kano state
2. The said Shariah Penal Code makes provision for offences and punishments recognized in Islam
3. The Shariah Penal Code Law prohibits blasphemy and a violator risks death sentence. See section section 382 thereof.
4. The Shariah Penal Code Law of Kano applies to Muslims only
5. The Shariah Penal Code Law of Kano does not apply to non Muslims. So a Christian or any other non Muslim cannot be prosecuted under the law except if he consents to it
6. Sheriff was tried and convicted under the Shariah Penal Code Law because he was a Muslim.
7. Sheriff has the right to appeal to a higher court for his conviction to be reviewed or set aside if the trial court was wrong.
8. Governor of Kano State has the final say on Sheriff's conviction. He can pardon Sheriff and allow him go free or change the punishment or sign death warrant for Sheriff to be executed/killed as ordered by court [/s] 9. A non Muslim who insults prophet Mohammed or commits any other form of blasphemy can at best be tried under the general Penal Code law for defamation or breach of public peace or any other related offence depending on exactly what the person says
In view of the foregoing, I will completely refrain from commenting on the appropriateness of death sentence for blasphemy because it is an Islamic injunction entrenched in a written law. Besides, I may not even be objective about it because I am not a Muslim, but a Christian. I will only end up pouring my sentiment in the guise of criticism. To me, is not even logical to use my religion to condemn another religion.
I submit further, for the purpose of emphasis, that the offence of blasphemy applies to Muslims only and they are in support of it. They are comfortable with it because their religion provides for it. I cannot take panadol for somebody's headache
Had it been the offence applies to non Muslims also, I would have immediately condemned it for being unconstitutional.
It should be noted that the Shariah Penal Code was enacted pursuant to section 38 of the constitution which provides for right to freedom of religion and sections 4 and 6 of the constitution which gives states power to make laws and also establish courts for themselves and also section 36(12) which provides that person can be convicted for an offence only if the said offence is defined in a written law with sanctions attached.
That is to say, the Supreme Law of the land has given them backing. They can practice their religion provided that a non Muslim shall not be affected
Let me drop my pen here. Everything I put down here is strictly my opinion and I may be wrong.
Greetings Ladies and gentlemen
Chukkol

Are you high on Pig's Urine or something worse?- Do you know how many Christians (that you terrorists refer to as "infidels" just because your Peadophile of a mohammed said so) have been beheaded in Cold Blood, by your Jihadist followers, just because they are Christians or because some of them refused to join your terrorist "Islamic Religion of Piss" or because they called your stupid Prophet Mohammed, what he realy is" A Killer and Peodophile"?- Are those dead people going to wake up and appeal your blood thirsty reign of terror? may you and your babrbaric, virgin-seeking, animalistic Prophet Mohammed rot in the hottest part of hell, for all the pains and tears you have caused innocent people, in the name of Islam. Every where you Moslems are in a sizable number, death, slaughters and rivers of blood is what you turn th place to. paulolee: killing and ending ur career all because of moni, the case of ozil, james Rodriguez and Gareth bale shows the bad effect of huge wages in football.. pls ozil, for the sake of ur fans that still want to see you play, just forget about the huge wages in arsenal, accept a paycut and move out on a loan to a team that you will get more playing time than sitting a whole year without playing football is not jus abt making money but also building a legacy for football to remember when you are done.. if Sanchez accepted a pay cut to join inter on loan b4 they signe him, coutinho plans doing d same to join arsenal or any available epl team, you too can do same and join other available club in Europe because when you get game times, ur value n form increases than sitting all year without playing in arsenal. Ozil is finished as a top flight footballer, he knows this and that is why he wants to enjoy his 350K GBP per week, till it ends. No Club wil sign him for 50K GBP per week right now, so why does anyone expect him to get a salary cut? Laslas, he will return to Galasataray as backroom staff, after leaving Arsenal. He used to be sublime in his play but as he got older, he became too weak and too fragile to play well in the Premiership. Wenger should be the one to blame, for not seeing ebyond his nose and signing a product in decline when he left real Madrid. |

Crusader1: So, council has this enormous powers and the demonic Lale of UniPort was allowed to finish his tenure. Lale was a clear example of Lucifer in human form Governing Council rarely removes a V.C, except in cases of obvious GROSS MISCONDUCT and financial impropriety but most for Poitical reasons.I recall when some Aboki banded together to remove Mrs Grace Alele Williams, as the VC of UniBen. They just cant fathom th eidea that a woman was the VC of a federal University! Though, unlike the Wale Babalakin nonsense, she was given the opportunity to defend herself and due process was followed but she eventually survived the plot. I think Wale Babalakin wants to do something at Unilag, that the V.C refused to aceed to, so he wants to replace him with a pliant person as VC. Likely a Contract issue or he wants an increase in tuition fees or something like thatThe fact that only Seven, out of Twelve voted for this removal and it was done in Abuja, as against the Council Chambers in the institution, speaks volumes! Can that happen at his private University, can they remove him as VC, without due process, if at all? |

aybabz101: Like I said earlier in a related thread; the fact that the removal of prof. Ogundipe as the VC and the subsequent installation of another prof. took place in Abuja shows that that something is not right.
I believe that the removal of prof. Ogundipe is a witch-hunt maybe from the governing council or a higher political figure. whichever way, it is a disgrace to the members of the council and the Senate of the institution.
I think the university union supports the former VC; if they do, this will be another problem for unilag coz the Union will definitely embark on series of strike. And as usual, the students will be the victim.
shame on these politicians parading themselves as academics and shame of the NUC for aiding and abetting such delirious act. It may have nothing to do with a "third party" buit just a SELFISH INTEREST of Wale Babalakin because he is such a greedy and selfish humanbeing without a conscience. Anyone who reads about his track records will realise how greedy, souless and inhuman he is, when it comes to pursuing selfish, greedy interest at the expense of the community or public good.I dont even know what Buhari or whoever got him that position, was thinking, to make him a Pro-VC of Unilag, when they know that he is a proprietor of a Private University...CONFICT OF INTEREST AT PLAY. It is very telling to note that the Unilag Governing Council chaired by Wale Babalakin could not meet inside the Council Chambers inside Unilag, to remove the VC, but went to Abuja to do so! This removal is illegal and it will not stand, due proces of removing a VC was not followed.
SHAME ON YOU, Wale Babalakin, you are a Vulture |

Wale Babalakin has not provided us with evidence of What Ogundipe did wrong, apart from just mud-slinging and l notice that Wale Babalakin is ALWAYS destroying PUBLIC GOOD, for his own SELFISH INTEREST, anywhere he goes. From the Concession of FAAN local Airport, to the Federal Secretariat in Ikoyi, to the Concession of the Lagos Ibadan Express road, anything Wale Babalakin touches, DIES.The purported removal obviously did not follow laid down, due procedures and is therefore null and void, ab initio.
Babalakin has his own Private University in Ondo State (l think) and Nigerians should not allow him to destroy one of (if not) the best University we have in Nigeria. He should be removed from the governing Council completely. |

Punishment for blasphemy in the Bible
“Whover blasphemes the name of the Lord shall surely be put to death. All the congregation shall stone him. The sojourner as well as the native, when he blasphemes the name, shall be put to death”
Kill People Who Don't Listen to Priests Anyone arrogant enough to reject the verdict of the judge or of the priest who represents the LORD your God must be put to death. Such evil must be purged from Israel. (Deuteronomy 17:12)
Kill Witches You should not let a sorceress live. (Exodus 22:17 NAB)
That's religion for you! Stop hypocritically pushing blasphemy as a Muslim thing only... You people are not doing it doesn't mean it's not in your holy book.
If you are really passionate about human existence then embrace humanity and nature and stop all this hypocrisy! You these Islamic terorists like to justify your evil acts using the"historical", Old Testatment of the Bible. Why dont you revise that your Satanic Verses of the Qu'ran, have a "New Version" of the Book where LOVE and FORGIVENESS is PREACHED, like in the Bible, instead of the hate-filled Satanic Verses you imbibe into your followers from the current Qu'ran?
The Christian Bible has "revised and upgraded" into a Book of love and forgiveness while you satanic Silamic Jihadist are still steeped in beheadings, amputations and peodophilia, claiming it is an instruction from your blood-thristy Mohammed!
There is NOTHING like Blasphemy in law. If anyone says anything unpalatable against ANY god, let that god fight for himself and deal with the person, you mortal terrorists should not be the one fighting for a supposedly immortal god. |

Everything about them is the same, whether they are OPENLY practising terrorism like She-Cow or practising it inside a Mosque like all those Grand Khadi and Sheiks or just sitting on the floor and banging their heads against the ground like their fanatical followers, they are all terrorists.
Islam itself is a terorrist religion, its founder Mohammed, is a terorist and peodophile so what do we expect of his followers? Anywhere they are in large numbers, you can bet that their will be blood-letting, slaughters and terrorism there. Achaic, fake religion, with a fake prophet, praying to a fake Allah |

Health › Re: Russia Receives Orders For ONE BILLION Doses Of World’s First Covid-19 Vaccine by One4me: 5:33pm On Aug 12, 2020 |
kikero: I guess what I should have said was that vaccines don't impact your DNA the way you and he think it does.
Many people assume that DNA manipulaiton=changes on a mass cellular scale. That's not how it works.
RNA vaccines, which some of the covid vaccines under testing are...basically work by injecting RNA into the body, which then uses some of the proteins in the body to assemble factors which induce an immune response which hopefully can protect from infection with SARS Merscov2...the virus that causes COVID19.
Most people like the person I responded to have wild ideas about what 'DNA manipulaiton means...which include things like 'a person injected with a vaccine will have a child years later with congential anomalies' That 's not how vaccines work (and some even prevent infections that would cause congenital anomalies...which is another type of 'DNA manipulaiton'.).
One more thing...most viral illnesses work by some form of DNA manipulaiton, eg hepatitis, and HIV. They work by integrating their genetic material into the cells of the host, and manipulate the cell to produce viral building blocks which are assembled into new viruses...which wreak havoc. If left untreated, they can harm...but the body already has mechanisims to protect against such viruses too as well(and most treatments against such diseases work by preventing the virus from integrating into the DNA of the host human...eg HIV and viral hepatitis treatments.).
You are right to be suspicous. BUT...the fact is we have all sorts of global codes and practice governing the intrduction of new drugs and vaccines, etc. The era of the Tuskegee experiment, and Nazi experimentation on human bodies is over.
Plus, as Pfizer found out to its cost, depart from the code, and you pay heavily.
That's not true and you know it. Bill Gates, who I don't like by the way (his monopoly re Microsoft)..also was responsible for 1) spending billions on Malaria research 2) also helping to, among other things bring down the cost of HIV drugs over 18 years ago (and no, he was not the only one, but he was very influential).
Plus, depopulation does not mean the world would become better. Infact, if Gates wants to depopulate the world, he would do well to 1) stop vaccine production...because vaccines have been a big factor in population explosion 2) make drugs expensive ...like his fellow billionaire who bought the patent to cotrimoxazole and inflated the price 'just because' (fortunately he was forced to recieve sense).
The thing is, just because the Russians have a vaccine ready to roll, does not mean the vaccine works. It remains to be seen IF the vaccine can be proitective, and that means years of watching and seeing if the vaccine does a good job of protection (espeically as COVID 19 does not necessarily mean you pass on or fall seriously sick...you can be like El Rufai and be asymptomatic).
As I have said, there was a working HIV vaccine in the 1990's. Given to human volunteers self. As it turned out, it did not work...because at the time the vaccine was created, it could only stop certain subtypes of HIV . In the coruse of deployment, new subtypes of HIV were discovered, and more were found later. Ouch. Most of the things you said here are the "official positions" but past experience teaches us otherwise.Truth is some Vaccines do negatively impact the people's DNA, causing problems with fertility, cognitive behaviour, etc! Even in the Western World their are documented cases of where Children took Vaccines and it turned out very badly for them (Not all Vaccines and not in all cases though, but to say it does not happen will be untruthful) For example, the Pfizer Polio Vaccination in the North of Nigeria, where their children were used as Guinea Pigs, to test an unproven Vaccine, which caused all sorts of deformities in hundreds of children For example, the Vaccination of South African Women against HIV, which was "laced" with another Chemical that renders the Women sterile, in an effort to control their population. The Women are still seeking compensation Israel also did the same deciet on Black skinned Israeli Jews from Ethiopia, sterilising them in the name of Vaccination. So, when you start telling us that if Bill gates wanted to reduce population, he wont be producing Vaccine, sounds a very naive with the "Politics of Vaccination and Population" works or maybe it is just the usual Elitist attitude of parroting whatever the West tells them to say over here in backward Africa. Same problem shows itself in the issue of Genetically Modified Foods that Mussanto is dumping on Africa and some Latin American countries and our "Profs" are repeateing to Nigerians, what they have been told to say, while collecting bribes behind the backs of their citizens! A lot of American Pharma Firms are also jumping the hoops, short-circuiting clinical trials, just to race to a Vaccine, so it is not only Russia that is fast-tracking Vaccine development but the ONLY REASON America and th Western world is bad-mouthing this Russian Vaccine is because they are irked that it would be Russia that would "save the world", so to say, by being the first to develop the Vaccine. Modenna is an example that tested only 4,000 people instead of running the trials on 45,000 people and decided it has done enough of stage Two trials and jumped the rest, why are they not making noise over that? |

Children respond well to a lot of words and examples from parents. I hate to cause my children pain or traumatize them in the name of discipline. Farki: Lead by example, children have a natural instinct to copy whatever they see around them. If they see the parents being rude to others, being violent, greedy or two faced they will emulate them. A lot of Nigerian parents have a "do as I say and not as I do" behaviour, we can't sow corn and expect beans to grow.
Be consistent, if you tell a child that something is wrong and carries a punishment or reward follow through and don't dodge it or give an excessive punishments or rewards because they will see you as unreasonable.
Allow them to make mistakes because mistakes are a learning experience. I noticed that a lot of the people who cheat in exams wanted to get prizes or avoid the wrath of their parents at all cost. Failing and learning is better than cheating and coming out half baked.
Last thing is actually tell them about the world, don't shy away from uncomfortable or or difficult topics because you are letting other influences take their place and teach them something else.
Also note that everyone is different and you should seek various sources of expertise before coming to an conclusion about how to do something as important as raising another human being. Very True! But in addition, there is also a role for the Cane!Flog a Child, if stubborness is in hi sheart but NEVE flog a Child when you are angry, that would lead to brutalisation of the child. Flog with love, care and the intent to help the Child to understand the need for a change.Explain in very clear terms to the Child, why the Cane has to come-in and afterwards, DO NOT NEGLECT the Child, draw him closer with love and help him rehabbilitate. NaMeAboki: [s]I am inclined to respond to the avalanche of bigotry and damn right insolence on the part some ppl, who seem to place themselves on a false high pedestal and subsequently taken the opportunity of this judgement to target their hatred towards Islam/Muslims, in general, and northerners, in particular, from their narrow and quite often ignorant perspective.
Let me first start by saying that Sharia law is constitutionally legitimate; acceptable and exclusively applicable (only) to Muslims here in Nigeria - even if as some ppl have severally tried and failed to successfully challenge it in court; it is therefore an unalienable right of Muslims (who are not complaining about it) to practice their Sharia without interference from outsiders.
The person convicted is a Muslim who broke an Islamic law and consequently charged and convicted by an Islamic court - how is it therefore the business of non-Muslims; why are they taking Panadol for somebody's headache?
BTW, blasphemy is a crime, even under international law: The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) in a landmark judgement, as recent as 2018 upheld the conviction of an Austrian woman for such crime - you are no longer protected under the freedom of speech of human rights to blaspheme e.g. insult the Prophet of Islam. https://www.thenewfederalist.eu/echr-you-shall-not-blaspheme-against-religious-prophets?lang=fr
Lastly, due to our appellate system; no capital conviction reached by any Sharia court in Nigeria has ever been upheld and carried out on appeal to the supreme court, i.e. such sentences are practically only academic and of no effect. Therefore, all this gentleman needs to do is simply to appeal to the supreme court and have his death sentence quashed.[/s] Just listen to yourself! STOP TERRORISING INNOCENT AND HELPLESS PEOPLE for their beliefs, you dont need to terrorise them for many years under a stupid death penalty and then claim they can appeal or you have not carried out the death Penalty for many years. It is satanic reasoning like this, mostly for Muslims in the North, that is breeding ISWAP and Boko Haram that sentence people to death and beheading, for the simplest, legitimate and innocent acts like not wanting to be part of your Islamic, terrorists jihadist religion. |

DexterousOne: The issue is....
The sharia court is equal to the high court in Nigeria
Appeal and Supreme court is above it hence nigeria is still a "secular state" That assertion is FALSE! What they Appeal to is some "Grand Khadi" of some sort and that is stil under the Sharia Code. Once someone says "I am not a Muslim", they should NEVER be tried under the Sharia Code, no matter what their name is, how it sounds or how they look! You cant force someone to be a Muslim.I am sure that you are aware that the HEAD of Nigeria's SUPREME COURT is a SHARIA Judge who read Islamic Studies! I am talking about the Sharia Judge President Buhari used to replace Justice Walter Onoghen, when has that ever happened in the history of Nigeria? How does that make Nigeria a Secular state or should l remind you that "Secularity" means "something being devoid of Religion whatsoever"? I recall how these same people smuggled Nigeria into the Organisation of Islamic Countries, under Babangida regime. Like someone said, these Islamic Jihadist and passing a message and inching forward, step-by-step in trying to make the country a Sharia State. We need to ressist it and be Vigilant always. Buahri has destroyed the UNITY of Nigeria, far more than any Previous President of Nigeria and hi sname will go down in the infamy of hsitory. |

matex97: The accused is a muslim and not a christian Not withstanding, He is still a HUMANBEING! His Life is still important or are Muslims lives less important than Christian life?
Have you heard where a Christian abused Jesus and the Christian gather to Kill him? Why is it always Muslims that are involved in almost all these religious killings? Look on the Map of the world and see where terrorists abound, the only thing that will abound there are MUSLIMS! Why cant you guys love Peaceful living, instead of just Killing, Killing, Killing everywhere, in the 21st century? |
