modath:YOU!!!!!!!!! I WAS GOING TO COME AND FIND YOU THIS MORNING!!!!! HAAAAA!!! ![]() |
envynot that is really scary and I'm glad you mentioned it. It always helps to have a personal story sometimes to help make it clear that why we shouldn't do some things. I remember when a mum shared here that she lost her son to Botulism via giving him Honey. It made it very clear to everyone. Shrekandfiona, one cannot tell people how to do things, one can only advise and hope they listen. People will give honey to their babies, infact someone came and said her friend gives Maggi to her 3 month old. There was a thread about burying a child that doesn't walk on time in sand halfway to the chest and a lot of people were in agreement that it was efficient. All I say is "as long as you're happy doing that to your own child, I won't stop you. I also won't grieve with you". |
Oya o! Fight don end o. Channel all greviances towards Buhari and MMM!! ![]() |
So many comments and viewers here to enjoy a fight, Loisemm and that is very, very sad. This is not us, this is not how we do things around here. And when you are ready to come here, I know you'll be a welcome addition (I read the thread you frequent a lot and I can't wait to see most of you here )Pretimum, you won't find edible crayons here o, the best you can find is non-toxic and I won't trust any Chinese brand that says "Non-toxic". Or you can mix edible paint and try use it with a brush. HTH. |
MizMyColi:I was part of them, I voluntarily left there because of this sort of behaviour. I know some of their monikers and I saw some here so that is why I made that comment. Months have passed and this has not happened here. But a lot of monikers fighting helovesme now once fought her on Pregnancy thread (I remember that). They are nursing old greviances here. If everyone can maintain their lane, life would be great. If I sound Godlike, that is awesome. However, some months back, most of the mamas here insisted I was Class Captain (even though I nominated other people) and should maintain the peace here. So if you would like to enjoy the subtle God-complex of running an unpaid group, freely, out of your personal time, please submit your name. I'm sure the attention would do you good. ![]() I am not in support of anyone, but we should keep our greviances and channel to the right sources. Again, nothings stops anyone from PMing her to scream at how she addresses people. Just don't make somewhere hostile and uncomfortable because you don't like one person. There are parents here who will avoid this place now because they are apprehensive of what is going on right now. The initial parties involved were chastised, that should have ended it, but instead it got so bad, comments got blocked. |
Aim07:sorry, maybe it got caught up in spam. Will check. |
kidco:cc dominique. Bros, you no read? No more replies on anything to this topic here. Carry your greviance to her PM. |
Prettyhurts:dexterush and prettyhurts, had you dashed me that money, won't you have been happier ![]() |
This behaviour exhibited here, is why men can confidently say women are too emotional and cannot handle big decisions and power and that all women hate each other. This right here. So continue, a lot of us have daughters that some guy is going to play against each other and stroll away laughing. Rise above this! |
zaynie:Zaynie, Alphahandmaiden and other mums, please get in here. We are going to speak frankly today. |
mummygwen helovesme philoedx iomoge2 mamaoo crystalzoe coldfeet kidco ahnie elmoduddah derommyvent lutherap Dominique and other Health section mods, please if any of those monikers address each other today, can you help us please ban all of them? They are causing disturbance and derailing the thread. This in Newborn thread, we are only supposed to be discussing matters pertaining to newborns, toddlers and babies and young children. Thank you. |
There is an orphanage in Oniru, Lekki but I think you may have more luck in Surulere. That age group (0 to 2 months) probably are the fastest set of kids to get adopted (I suspect with most Nigerians, they would prefer young newborns to adopt with little suspicion raised). May I suggest you go to a Fertility Clinic and use a surrogate to carry your eggs, once they have been fertilised with your husband's fluid? Because Desperation can lead to bad decisions and sorrow later on in life and you sound desperate (there are already a few red flags coming up from what you've written). Try Nordica, Georges clinic, Medison, etc. Start by going to Health section and asking on the IVF/IVI thread. It seems like you have to find a surrogate yourself but there is actually a Nigerian website that offers this service (found out recently). |
drstone1:I don't think so. Bini, Yoruba and Hausa empires were pretty advanced, as were pockets across the SS and Middle Belt. Something went wrong somewhere. |
Stvpid selfish greed. No thought other than today and its worries, thoughtless about the future. |
I pray for Dexterush's blessing for myself, we could do with schoolfees money, a home in our name, another car, some forex, a trip to the Maldives would be awfully nice, a bigger washing machine, Citizenship to Sweden, a nice library.... |
rofemiguwa:We have moved on o. Abeg adjust post. Nothing byt smiles here from everyone. |
Prettyhurts:Is it plenty money? |
helovesme:Puhlease, my mama lost N3m to NOSPECTO. She needed to dye her hair after because she grew so many greys after. That's where I knew Clairol and Bigen dyes from. I won't laugh at anyone in MMM, I kind of understand why it happened and I pray they can get out their money, not the interest. |
I had a fight with Himself about some money matters and it got pretty hurt. I just couldn't understand why he wouldn't just LISTEN to me! Bet you've all been in the same situation so my aunt shared a story with me about her hubby:Please bear in mind, my uncle was VERY educated (Oxford, high-ranking job which made him travel everywhere around the world, addressing govts etc). So he was exposed. By the time I was born, he was retired and his kids grown. That was during the boom of Silicon Valley and Technology and he was very interested. Some guys found out about it and made a pitch to him about investing in Silicon Valley. They said they said, that the Silicon chips in computers were made from sand called Silica and they had it plentiful in stock from the East. That they had investors from Silicon Valley desperate to buy this sand. And my dad was invited to a business meeting at a fancy hotel. My mum complained and said it all sounded suspicious but my dad was like "I am smart and exposed, this cannot be a silly trick I fall for, you only studied English at a school of Tech!" Mama vexed so much, he carried her. Then got to the venue and insisted she stay in the car and "leave the big decision to the menfolk". (Insert eyeroll). My uncle came back after the meeting with a black tin, my cousin was with him and he gave the can to him to carefully keep in darkness because the investors told him that to expose the content would spoil it. Trust my aunt, after 30 mins of eyeing both of them, she pried it own. Sharp sand. That was all that was in it. Plain, common sharp sand. But it is Silica though ![]() Now, my aunt knew that if she dared laugh, he would stop the car and throw her off 3rd Mainland bridge. So she kept trying to hold it in and peed herself a little from the merriment! My cousin said his mum was in tears that day and his dad just kept staring straight ahead ![]() |
Prettyhurts:As soon as they unfreeze the accounts, get your money out asap! All will be well but don't gamble unless you have the stomach for it next time ![]() Infact, everyone should gather, let me share a story about how even the smartest of people can fall prey to bad ideas. |
helovesme:MMM has crashed, evelpryone is on edge, today is not the day to chop slap because of one Russian guy somewhere. Even me don vex. The people I was going to sing "Merry Xmas Begi Begi" are not picking my calls. |
I really, really think everyone does NOT want to discuss this topic anymore, Helovesme, Farydah, faithisallihave and any other mamas planning on commenting. Please feel free to take this as a very serious suggestion that this topic should be dropped on this thread, however I'm sure the PM function can help continue this discussion offthread. Thanks ladies. |
I'm sure you are wondering, "how do I handle poop?" Pretty good question. Firstly, there is no such thing as "cute poop", it is always "ewww, poop" .There are two ways to deal with poop. You can use a liner or not. Liners come in disposable and reusable. Just place it ontop of the insert. The things about liners is that they do shift, because baby is constantly moving, but will catch a large majority of poop so all you need to do it flush it away after changing a poop diaper. For reusable liners, wash off with diaper. For those not using liners, there are other methods to taking care of poop, but it does make it easier to use liners. I would recommend the disposable liners IMHO. Read more on www.nefescorner..com.

dtush:There are safe crayons from Crayola for 0-36 but the best place to check for Crayola is at The Reading Corner on Awolowo way in Ikoyi. AB Artworld used to have more options but reduced to just a few Crayola items because of lack of demand on the mainland. Truly safe brands of crayons are sadly not sold in Nigeria because they ain't cheap and no-one wants products only a few people want. Did you try my earlier mix of edible paint? That can be used with fingers or a brush and is edible. Just get a cheap, chubby handled bristle brush and let your kid feel like Monet. ![]() |
Crayons and Writing So, we see kids with crayons and we give our kids but don't know why. It's an important development tool ad Scribbling leads to Writing and Strengthening shoulder and hand muscles. It's important to give your kids crayons. Because a lot of toddlers start school and hate writing or write badly. I know someone who said her nephew hated writing at 4 years old and my nephews wrote badly at 5 years. A crayon helps develop the right pencil grip. But there are some things you have to do first: 1. Buy the right type of crayons. See those cheap, Chinese ones? They usually have traces of Lead in it. And THERE IS NO SAFE AMOUNT OF LEAD TO ANYTHING, IT MOST DEFINITELY CAUSES CANCER. Proven fact. They keep complaining about those very cheap Chinese crayons in the US and I see them a lot here in Nigeria. So try and patronise brands like Crayola and Reeves (US and UK made). Also Nataraj is Indian but I don't know if it's safe. It is important to buy the right, safe brands because your kid is gonna eat a lot of crayons. My LO uses them as a snack (especially Green, Pink, Brown and dark Blue). 2. Unwrap them and break them into 2 or 3. It's smaller. A long pencil or crayon means your kid makes a fist and grabs it at the top and scribbles. And this becomes hard for them when they start using pencils and trying to write, because it gets hard. So break all pencils or crayons and watch your kid automatically hold it the right way (it will come instinctively). 3. Give them paper. I used to buy sheets of large paper at N5 apiece but they are a pain to get (unless you can ask an Art student to buy for you). Check Ojuelegba for art supplies (Artworld especially) and The Reading Corner in Ikoyi also sells Crayola brand (it's hard to find a bit).

Since we are all gathering here, I wanted to do a post on more Kids Activities, this one concerns Writing. Anyone interested? |
dunasy:If you are trying to stylishly confess to us all that you have started exhibiting these traits, it's okay. We are here to help ![]() |
We have all spoken and said enough to MummyGwen please. dtush, thanks for the offer. Mummygwen, consider taking her up on her offer of a pm. Lord knows I too need it. ![]() |
Good morning mamas. I am hereby invoking my powers as Class Captain to get everyone to stop making comments to mummygwen. She has heard and she will make the decisions that she feels is best for her and her child. Repeat that to yourselves, "her child". So everyone please back off.Mummygwen, I was the world's pickiest eater. I ate paper and erasers rather than food. I was beaten, begged, bribed and cajoled. My daughter sometimes has 2 meal options at every meal, she holds food in her mouth and sometimes spits it out when she wants to drink water and she is turning 18 months in 2 weeks. My niece would make her 2 parents (consultant paediatricians o, wih plenty experience in childcare) count to 7 before every mouthfull and run around. All of us are thriving. All of us hit our milestones on target. A healthy baby is a healthy baby, not a plump baby is automatically a healthy baby. It is stressful and frustrating but it has been proven in several studies that no child will starve themselves willingly. So take a deep breath and when you get frustrated, leave her and continue later. Give her to someone else to feed. If your LO eats only 2 spoonfulls maybe that is enough for her at that moment and she will eat another 2 spoonfulls in 1 hour's time. If she goes to creche, you may have to get a nanny or pay extra to the childcare minders at the creche to make sure they keep her mouth busy with food every hour (giving her more attention than other kids). Such is life. She'll be fine one day. Okay? Please let us move on from this. It is up to Mummygwen to decide how she wants to go ahead with the info she has been given. We have spoken and said enough and I don't this to get out of hand please. |
