I guess you should understand perception is a big issue here. There's a general perception in the world courtesy of what the media says that most marriages are ending in divorces nowadays coupled with the fact that bad news spread easily and we all do hear of one bad marriage or the other more often. Although the stats given by tbaba and the picture it paints may look a bit excessive but it still does not remove the fact that a lot more marriages are crashing and reasons are not basically because of problems faced in the marriages of old but because of new avoidable challenges caused by stereotypes, equality and so on. I believe its hard adjusting to this shift by the word i.e men-women domination to that of equal rights and so on.

It's a complicated issue and no one can explain it out with an article or survey. Phew!!. I need to get to bed.

donigspain: My HP Compaq Mini Laptop is faulty.

ORIGINAL KEYBOARD FAULT
- All the keys work except keys A S D F G Z C.
- Key Z repeats itself multiple times once you boot to desktop. Stop only when you hit the keyboard a little.

I was advised to get a new keyboard which I went for yesterday at Computer Village. I tried many keyboards but they kept repeating the following error sequence:
- All keys respond when punched
- Key Z no longer repeats itself
- When you press key A it displays AZ, key S displays SX, key D displays DC etc. and these are the keys that DON'T WORK in the original keyboard.

The technician cleaned the Keyboard Controller on the motherboard with brush (no spirit) and tried the keyboards again but it still repeated same errors. He now concluded that the Keyboard Controller is faulty and cannot be changed. I only have to make do with external keyboards.

MAIN-POINT:
Engineers in the house, what do you think of the above situation.
- Is the technician's diagnosis/troubleshooting correct?
- If yes, is the keyboard controller fixable/repairable?
- If yes, what will it cost me to fix it?

She explained to me what happened. I can't wrap my head around it yet. But I guess a bios reset and update is a sure way to go for now. It's the system and not the keyboard that's bad.

As for happiness, you cannot be happy all the time and that does not necessarily mean your marriage is about to crash.

maclatunji: I disagree with this because there is hardly any man that wins a woman's hand in marriage by being abusive or irresponsible. For people to do that in marriage is an indication of bad character in my opinion.

It is like employment, most people get a surprise when they start work, finding that it is not like they thought it would be, does this mean they start misbehaving? No.

I wasn't talking about abuse. I was talking about lack of fulfilment and satisfaction. Abuse should have no place in any marriage. You don't have to maltreat your spouse before you guys can be termed to be in a bad marriage. Any marriage with atleast one unhappy partner is not an happy one.

I can be an employee and grumble through the job without misbehaving. It doesn't mean i enjoy the job or the work is satisfying. It means the job is not meeting my expectations. As for a job, i could decide to be content and happy with what i have. It's a singular person thing but when it comes to marriage, it is two partners and most times only you cannot change the outlook of things. You need your better half. you can't single out the young guys as the culprits. It takes two to tango and they both share equal blame for the state of their marriage. There are lots of things that are not open to the eyes of outsiders. So its hard to judge from the outside.

I just wonder sometimes how something meant to be beautiful becomes ugly. I mean marriage.

I guess we mostly go into it unprepared. There's always a difference between visions and thoughts you have of something and the reality. We tend to believe we have all the needed ideas to make it work but the rude awakening may be too much for most to handle. And once there's a slide, it's always hard to get back up if you started on the wrong footing.
