Funflipper:He be like say this girl dey loss dey find herself dey loss again. I was aware of the initial missing notice and the new notice that she was found about a week agai. This was the press release from July 27th stating she was found. https://www.tps.ca/media-centre/news-releases/located-missing-person-keele-street-and-the-pon/ And this is another new press release as of August 4th showing she was missing again. https://www.tps.ca/media-centre/news-releases/56998/ Toor God would help find her. |
Old stale news. She has been found. Make una dey verify news before posting. Modified. She is missing again. Was initially found July 26th but now missing based on an update from August 4th. https://www.tps.ca/media-centre/news-releases/56998/ |
descartes400:Take time to open the link you shared and read. Jama added that, under the agreement, part of the debt would be immediately written off while part would be subject to a rescheduling of payments. Let Somali come out and tell you what fraction of the $684million owed Russia was cancelled . The more laughable thing is you expecting Russia as cash strapped as they are to go ahead and create an $8billion dollar nuclear facility in Niger Republic because of Uranium deposits, a mineral Russia itself has in abundance and mines. |
descartes400:Uranium isn't something that is that scarce. Heck tens of countries have large deposits of Uranium. Also Uranium trade isn't something you just dig up and start touting on the international market. Mines are owned and operated by a company. You would have to revoke that and assign such mines to new owners. Canada , Mexico has been ramping up production of Uranium and should be able to cover any deficit of Uranium produced by Niger. It is not an easy task to switch but with the Ukrainian war , we have seen how countries have manage gas sales after the EU sanctions on Russia . Believe the trash from Russia that they forgave $23b at your own Peril. They should state the breakdown and the countries they would give the money to. |
Ugly. |
WriterNigg:A lot of you just yarn Rubbish. You just wake up and start building a nuclear power plant. You won't have to go through the International approval and Nuclear power plant cost peanuts I guess. Even the cheapest and efficient Nuclear plant costs at least $8billion. Where do you think Russia would pull out $8billion from for Niger Republic? Even Putin would dance Awilo and go on a one week Praise singing program if they got someone investing $8billion in a new plant for them. |
Omoh. . Basic Finance should be taught in all secondary and tertiary institutions. From the comments on the pages, you can see a dearth of basic economics knowledge. There's a difference between budget, expenditure, debt, savings. That the government saved 1Billion Naira doesn't mean the money is in a bank sitting somewhere. Nah far from it. It meant money was budgeted (that you budget for something doesn't mean you have cash in hand to finance it) I can choose to budget and say I want to buy a Lamborghini, do I have the cash in hand now? Nope. If 6 months down the line I decide not to buy the Lamborghini (maybe by not taking loans) then I can say that I saved myself X millions in debt from not buying the Lamborghini. So the 1 Trillion isn't in an account. It is the debt Nigeria would have incurred to our balance sheet if we had continued to pay for subsidies. It is interesting that Nigerians employ selective amnesia. All of you guys were 6months ago shouting that the country was so indebted Nigerians would have to be speaking Chinese. But you forget that those debt profile you see recorded includes Subsidy payments debts the country has to incur just to have cheap petrol. And nah that money was budgeted doesn't mean the government had the money. A lot of our yearly Budgets go unfulfilled, items are budgeted for but never get the funds because we were never able to raise the funds needed via loans or income. |
Always said it. Nigerians in all spheres of work and corners of the country are the reason why the country doesn't work. Yes, Government has a part to do. But a lot of Nigerians are always findings ways to exploit in whatever they do. Always exploiting, always looking for loopholes to cheat and gain more than deserved. Government can't police every inch of the country to arrest everybody for wrongdoing. What are Nigerians doing in their own capacities to do the RIGHT thing always to make the country a better place? Every nook and cranny is filled with people sabotaging the government and their fellow countrymen. Even if you build all the infrastructure in the world if you such rotten behavior from TOP to BOTTOM, the country would always be a cesspit. |
A lot of you are just ignorant and believe access to social media gives you a right to misinform people. Conflict of interest? When everyday Consulting firms are working for government? His portfolios would be reassigned, even his work tools would be pulled till his work with government is complete. It is like going on sabbatical. I know a lot of partners who were nominated for government advisory positions and they were required as part of risk management policies to limit or completely denied access to internal resources. This person bringing up this is just either malicious and out to personally attack the guy or completely ignorant. We want professionals in public space but we still go out on needless personal attacks. Doesn't make sense. |
Doubleoh7:Real actions from elected officials? Like seriously? You build on flood plains, government marks the houses during construction, you go bribe your way out and when nature takes it's course you say elected officials? Nigerians and shifting responsibility. Elected officials should use scarce resources to help private estates who didn't do their due diligence before erecting properties on river paths? Nigeria has millions of problems needing urgent solutions, people who use their hard earned money to bring misery to themselves because of lack of commonsense is not one of them. |
MotiveU:Just taking a look at Satellite images of the Estate shows a swampy land and likely means it was a flood plain which has now been blocked off by a sea of red roofs(the Estate). Seems like a fresh water estuary that was cut off and built on. Tragic...but water would always find its level. People do wrong things then start calling God. Nature is always unforgiving. Where did the developers of the estate get approval? That a river isn't flowing now doesn't mean water won't flow 5 years down the line.

This David Guy has to be the dumbest "investigative Journalist" I have ever seen in a long stretch. At this point he isn't different from those conspiracy theorist who say the Earth is flat because we can't reach the end. ![]() Unfortunately he has his readers and hoards of stupid people who gobble his utter hogshit down hook, line and sinker. Just a simple google search would resolve this. 1. The Section 182 of the constitution he is referring to specifically stated SUBJECT to the provisions of the Section 28. Let us now go to Section 28 of the Constitution. Section 28 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of NigeriaMore: https://jurist.ng/constitution/sec-28 Section 28 was referring to Citizens of Nigeria who acquired their Citizenship by Naturalization and not by Birth. So this does not even apply to Hamzat as he is a Nigerian by birth. Let us now even go further to state he swore an oath to renounce the citizenship of other countries while getting US citizenship. The phrase renounce is in the Oath but this in effect does not mean that you aren't a Nigerian citizen anymore. The US constitution 100% recognizes dual citizenship. There are Argentinians who are American citizens and Argentina does not allow you to renounce your citizenship under any circumstance. If the American oath was "true" to its word in act and saying we wouldn't have such Argentinian Americans with dual citizenship. A piece of paper that is written from the USA does not trump the constitution of Nigeria where it requires Nigerian Citizens by Birth to go through a Process to Renounce their Citizenship and until the process is completed on the Nigerian side. You are still a Citizen. https://ngconsulate.info/page/citizenship-renunciation So this guy is just intelligent by half and has perfected the scope of gathering official docs and creating a narrative that is illogical. And since he has a lot of zombies who follow him and can't read a sheet of paper to save their lives. They run with such news. I cringe at the future of Nigeria when millions can't read and make logical illustrations and can't hold independent views except what they have been fed. |
Lol. They are just knowing that Emefiele was a puppet and grossly incompetent. I have said it numerous times. Jonathan that appointed him and Buhari that retained him and gave him the position one more time are the ones to blame. Appointed someone that would have just been a career banker the Central Bank Governor of a country with 180 million people without due diligence to know what their economic views are or what impact they made in their previous roles to justify such position. Anyone who was privy to the appoint of Emefiele as the head of Zenith Bank knew he was just a puppeteer appointed by the owners of the Bank because of the rule by Sanusi that heads of banks needed to be moved on. And we could see how he immediately got in there and reversed all the good policies from the previous governor like the ATM charge to benefit his banking masters. |
DonroxyII:Lol. No loud am o . A lot of people here forget easily where we as a country were coming from and think subsidies just happened overnight. We have made deliberate wrong decisions in the last 20 to 30 years that has led us here. I had a copy of the NEEDS document back then and just reading through it you can see the vision in it and how if we had just followed the template even if it were at 50% delivery by successive governments after the OBJ era we would have moved far ahead in developments and not find ourselves in such pitiable state. But Mr 7-point agenda came in and it was downhill from there. |
obinnanelson4:It is simple. The crude oil swaps shows how wasteful Nigeria is , We give out crude oil in return for petrol. 30% of extracts from Crude oil is only petrol . Nigeria does not ask for the 70% extracts to diesel, lubricants etc. We term those "wastes" and they don't factor in our deals. 70% resources going to waste and enrich few people because we want to subsidize petrol and guarantee supplies. NNPC doesn't have the funds to directly pay for the petrol so they do a direct sale , direct purchase agreement where we exchange crude oil for Petrol because NNPC was the sole importer of petrol and couldn't upfront guarantee payments to such dealers. This has been on going since 2016. Other firms aren't interested in bringing in Petrol because of the Subsidy regime. No company has such balance sheet to allow government owe them Trillions of Naira for months or even a year while paying their foreign suppliers for goods they have already supplied. Deals in the oil sector are mostly settled upfront. I won't just load a tanker of petrol and head to Nigeria to drop when I haven't been paid or don't have an ongoing contract to get immediate payment for my returns. It isn't surprising that such contracts were signed. Look at all the past contracts we have signed. The PTI one costing us billions, The Malabu contract. It might seem a good deal to just get petrol and avoid scarcity and a default but it boggles the mind that people would sign off the goods of this country to hawks just for a chance to get pittance as kick backs. It is like giving out your fathers land just to get few Kongos of Garri and palm oil because you don't have money to till the land and extract the produce yourself to feed your "lazy" kids. The most mind boggling aspect of the crude oil swap is that it just guarantees availability of petrol. They still sell back to us at the International price and we still have to now subsidize it internally. See why subsidy, crude oil swaps and other contracts has to go? We waste Trillions yearly on such wasteful adventure and wonder why we don't have good roads, electricity or quality basic education. Firms can now even join petrol import and NNPC won't be the sole importer anymore. Since they know if they bring in X-litre of Petrol, they get their X-amount of money back as they sell at whatever profit margin is good to them and are not waiting for an FG bill of sale to be settled in 6months or whenever the FG has funds to settle the difference. |
ferhyntorlah:https://dailypost.ng/2015/07/29/obasanjo-reveals-how-yaradua-refunded-750m-for-refineries/ |
ednut1:One of the worst elected President we ever had. Not good to speak ill of the dead but he completely reversed all the earlier gains of the OBJ era. Even if he felt slighted about the sale. What stopped him for carrying out another round of bids and verifying? It was common sense that the FG couldn't run the refineries and we needed to dispose them off immediately. Imagine the billions we would have saved in the last 17 years from forex? Imagine projects we would have been able to complete with the windfall from oil reaching $108 in the early 2010s/ |
Yara'dua and the incompetent man from Bayelsa. These were the legacies OBJ left us with. He should take the blame. No one knew Yaradua or what his though processes were. But nah, bulldozed his way into nominating such people without ideology into governance and handed 180million Nigerians to them. Imagine if the refinery were left as far back as 2006? Imagine where we would have been by now? But nah reversed all the gains of the earlier years of democracy. Same thing that the useless government in 2007 did for NIPP by cutting short the investments in the transmission arm of Power. Started the useless $16Billion power probe that led to nowhere when they 100% knew those were investment in such critical infrastructure and just needed continuous investment to yield the final results. Gutted the NEEDS document and started the useless 7-point agenda that had no head or tail. When we say that purposeful leadership goes beyond "He is nice", "has one house", "carries his bag" , "runs one Union bank account" a lot of kids on these sections shout themselves hoarse. You need people with a foresight and ruthless understanding of biz to actually launch a country to prosperity. Government can not achieve lifting large swats of it's population out of poverty directly but they can do it by enabling the environment for businesses to thrive and facilitate policies that boost productivity. |
VTJN:Yeah I believe there's a lot that the Government could have done to stem the tides of a lot things. Especially security. That's the last thing you want to be lax with . The kidnapping and armed bandits issues should have been nipped in the bud immediately it reared its head. You can recover a lot of things but you can't bring back innocent lives cut short due to banditry, insurgency, armed none state actors etc. Most of these precipitated some inflation we experienced in the food industry. There were a ton of other government failures in terms of prompt action and response to absolute stupidity in handling most issues. But we can't discount the impact of Covid etc in some aspects of inflation and the debt profile that we are currently facing. Also we set ourselves for failure. Anyone with a right thinking brain knew that if we continued the trajectory we were on in 2014 we would end up here but both leaders and followers love to hide behind the curtain and not face reality. Best time to have removed Subsidy was 2012, next best time was 2015. We wasted those years not removing such and we should face the consequences. |
God1000:1) 3 Trillion yearly on subsidy x 8 = N24 Trillion naira in 8 years 2) Debt relief for states and Cash payments to help settle salaries during Covid19 - Prolly N6Trillion 3) Debt servicing from previous governments that's dollar domiciled but now doubled due to exchange rate moving from N180 to N420 . 4) Standard railway completed for Lagos-Ibadan, Abuja-Kaduna, Warri-Itakpe (China's Nexim Bank) 5) Sukuk Bonds for the reconstruction of roads. 6) Equipping the army, navy, air force to counter the Boko Haram insurgency. We all hear of the different Airframes, helicopter, tanks, Gun boat purchases . Also prosecuting an Insurgency that has lasted more than a decade costs money. That gives you a summary of where these funds went to. Yeah there is corruption but the bulk of such debts are centered around recurrent things that we should do without. First is cutting off Subsidies and next is restructuring the public service to run a more lean and efficient government else we would just continue multiplying the debt burden without implementing any impactful capital projects. |
Ravissante:I hope you were able to solve this. Also include screenshots of your examination invite which showed location of exam as Nigeria in the LOE and a link to the BCS IT page which showed this is a distance learning course. |
Exactly why this form of democracy we practice does not make sense at all. A lot of people were whinning about tribalism and people not voting specific candidates in Lagos because of their tribal inclination. They are well justified not to vote for such persons when we subjugate our Culture and Heritage to the whims and caprices of an elected administrative officer who is just temporal and doesn't represent the culture of the local people. There's what we call cultural genocide and giving a Governor the official leverage to carry such out without checks and balances is just ridiculous. Imagine Rishi Sunak having the power to sack the Queen of England? Appoint someone different. Abolish cultural laws or heritage with a pen? Create new Kings , Knights and Queens just from a pen. Now tell me if citizens of UK who aren't 2nd or 3rd generation children of immigrants would allow an immigrant to lead them. It's basic common sense that lots of you don't tend to understand. When we talk about how stupid the type of democracy we practice and how the basis of tribalism and mutual distrust is entrenched in the constitution. A lot of people just hoof and poof and want to sound posh and pander to certain groups without asking why people act the way they act or what exactly are their fears and if such are justified. Until we flesh out those areas of our Constitution and make Governors, Presidents etc just administrative positions. Restore the traditional councils and make them independent of whatever government does, we would not see real progress. I would be 100% okay to have a Sokoto man rule an Oyo state when I know he is just an administrative officer, what 99% of Oyo state indigenes would not agree to even if the Sokoto man is the most competent politician since agege bread was founded is the context that a Sokoto man could be voted in, has the right to remove the Alaafin, create new traditional titles and dictate how the indigenous heritage is profiled or even outright take over the culture of an entire race of people with the stroke of a pen. Unfortunately, that's what we have in place currently. |
Just to buttress the useless 2M naira price in 2014. A poster on that thread page 3 posted images of a Kia he bought from Dana brand new without the SRS airbag inscription on the steering wheel. Which meant there was no airbag installed on a brand new car. What other featurs were missing for them to sell it at 2million? Probably mechanical windows, instead of steel bodies they had some knock off 3rd grade body? No wonder they were cheap as chips back then. |
noonejustme:Now you are asking the right questions. I believe we can critique government much more constructively but stats like this that doesn't flesh out the real details of things or factor in reality of global economy sucks. You can talk about how your country hasn't met some metrics but people need to get more understanding before going off against government for every single thing. First KIA likely had a rebate program to sell more cars and were willing to sell at a loss to just gain market size back in 2014. Also lots of tax exclusion were applied to encourage local production back then so people could purchase new cars. You can't forever be applying tax rebates for corporate coys so their products are affordable. It has to end at some point. Also there were credible claims that base model KIAs that was shipped or assembled in Nigeria back then didn't even come installed with a lot of safety features for example driver airbags, passenger airbags, side Airbags and ABS were missing. No wonder they were cheap as Bleep. Lol maybe na 2 stroke engine dem even glue join together for those 2014 models. See for example https://www.nairaland.com/431821/kia-rio-no-get-airbag Lesser features = less price points. Can we do a comparison of those features and added costs? I am sure the 2014 Picanto won't feature reverse camera or on screen display. Those are likely to be present in the 2023 models . Those upgrades cost money Even at the rate of $15,000 which the Kia Picanto might have sold for in 2015 and an exchange rate of N160 to $1, that amounts to about N2.5million without duties or taxes. Which points to my earlier thoughts that the 2015 prices were likely without the recommended features, saftey tools or they were selling at a loss. Also the 2014 had a 1.0 litre engine. I guess that's been upgraded in this 4th gen to 1.3 or so and the 2023 is more roomier which means much more money. Also the op stays in Canada and should know of the supply chain issues after covid and the attendent inflation worldwide. Even in Canada, the MSRP of a Civic or Corrola in 2014 was $16,000. That same base model would sell for nothing less than $22,000 currently and that's even if you get it delivered after waiting for 2 years or more. Dealers are selling such cars at $27,000+. Go on Autotrader.ca and find me one single brand new Corrolla that is selling at the manufacturer's price of $22k for the base models. Least you would get is $27k. That's a whooping $11,000 on the 2014 prices. I guess that's Buharis fault also? I doubt the minimum wage in Canada has increased so significantly in those 8 years to warrant such differences . Don't even get me started on used cars, running slight cosmetic issues Honda accord 2003 that used to sell for $600 to $800 in Canada just 2018/2019 now costs at least $4000 for a good running one in 2023. If you were to import that into Nigeria, how much would you sell it for? You need to also compare import duty on cars in 2014 vs 2023 in Nigeria. As at 2022 import duty for cars was 35% and one of the reasons for such high duties was to encourage local production. I don't have figures for 2015. All these need to be factored in before we print pictures and start comparing apples and oranges. Yeah, government hasn't done so well, but constructive criticism needs to be put forward when critizing. Worldwide things hasn't been the same in the last 3 years for citizens and Nigeria is definitely not an isolated scenario were prices of goods have doubled in a short span. |
diplomat058:Lol.. This sounds like the coolaid they feed people in college or some MLM. So how does the holding company raise funds to setup these new business or where did they get the initial capital to setup? Also what regulations stops FBNHolding from asking FBNBank to lend 200Bn to FBNInsurance at no interest rates while FBNInsurance runs into a default due to bad investment or economic downturn and can't service such debts anymore? How does the balance of FBNBank be insured against such risks or exposures? People who put the initial plan in place knew the risks and know what they were doing. We have poor cooperate governance rules and this is just greed. If GTCO, FirstBank, and co want to make money. They should lend funds to the real sector of the economy not spinning off businesses using depositors funds to play lotto in sister coys. Can't wait for the next administration to come in and flush Emefiele out. |
Isn't this Emefiele rolling back the gains of the Sanusi era to reduce Banks exposure to shocks in other sectors by limiting their functions to core banking alone instead of them foraying into insurance , wealth management etc using the same funds from the customer deposits to spin up these other businesses? How is an Holding company going to shield banks under such from the shocks if their other businesses are affected by a bad investment or financial crisis? I see GTB is back into insurance and whatnot now. Jonathan that appointed Emefiele and Buhari that has rewarded such incompetence twice are one of the worst things to befall the financial sector of this country in the last decade. Nigerians should be ready to subsidise bad businesses as AMCON would use public funds to buy such useless banks once they are about to fold up again so as to prevent a bank run on the others . Rinse and repeat and we are back to the years of Oceanic, BankPHB, Skye and Intercontinental again. I have always wondered why you would bring someone from a core banking dept to oversee a regulatory agency and not see that there would be conflict of interests or loyalty to his old buddies. Especially with someone like Emefiele who was just a puppeteer for Jim Ovia who was forced to step down due to the policies of the previous CBN governor Sanusi. The spin off of those banks that defaulted are still owing trillions of naira in public funds and not a single one of them that metamorphosed to Keystone or Polaris is actually doing any better to get out of such debts. But no wahala . We go all dey alright. @Comelysync just saw your comment. This is the exact same scenario. |
Hi 7david7, Just go get a referral to a Teaching hospital and get a refined dermatologist or specialist. They need to do a culture test to ascertain what exactly is causing the issue. Also a lifestyle change might be required. I remembered having to ditch fish, butter and eggs while growing up due to my body not been able to fully synthesize anything with high protein content. Also had to stop using anything soap that was medicated or anticeptic. Used Imperial leather all my young life for body and just water for rinsing the face and hair. He might have dry hair and you applying these soap that contains high amounts of caustic soda might even be complicating it more. Do not wash his hair with soap for now. So better to go with a specialist than just applying different medicine. You already gone through a list of them Nizoral, ketoconazole etc. Also note that these fungal infections are very stubborn and might require months long treatment before you see any improvements. Don't mind people who say they are spiritual. ![]() But why would you even use Terbinafine on a boy? That medicine is always not recommended or recommended as a last resort. That's an extreme one. Stay off any medication. Go to the Teaching hospital. They would run a series of tests and confirm exactly what he is either reacting to or the causative. |
Lovely. If USA, Uk, Saudi Arabia etc need doctors and nurses. They should come build universities of medicine in Nigeria and offer free tuition to prospective Nigerian students. Or better still they should create their own universities and offer free tuition to Nigerian students. Only issue i have and which would be quashed by any court is mandating existing doctors. That would never hold. They didn't put a gun to the government to offer free tuition or subsidized tuition. You can only start implementing it for new students joining 100 level course in any public university and they have to sign an undertaking. If any student does not want to sign up for such. Then they can opt for a paid private medical universities. Government should increase welfare and give thhem special employment cadre. It is not enough to mandate people but they also should not be offered peanuts. |
Aphrodite007:Why is comprehension such a difficult thing in the world? Are you guys reading to respond or reading to understand? Go through my post and point out one single point i blamed Immigrants. If anything I was advocating for immigrants. Stating the fact that citizens are turning the blame on immigration as the cause of their current woes doesn't mean that's my point. And maybe you reread the phrase "low hanging fruits" and understand the connotation in the context of the discuss. Also the quoted guy on here gave valid reasons for why some of his acquaintances who are immigrants now are likely anti immigration. You can't gaslight them to have a different opinion. You can only argue your way against their stance. You guys should quit picketing people for their opinions without giving valid assertions against such. Asking Government to close schools that are offering mushroom diplomas and certificates that have no bearing and impact asides the cash grab by a few people who have set these places up to extort international students is in the interest of the students. It is almost equivalent to UK bringing in students without a credible pathway to Permanent residency. Of what use is a mushroom diploma you pay tens of thousands for in Canada when the best you get to do after finishing it is driving Ubers or working in Tim Hortons. A lot of them have to go back and re enroll, why would I wish a fellow Nigerian this fate of paying through the nose twice when government could actually help in stemming this from the get go? No immigrant can gate keep and stop people from traveling, heck i would even advise people to move to get more benefits out of their skillset if they believe there is more out there. It is natural that people would move to areas where there is more prosperity. Globalisation has just made it more pronounced because wealth is largely concentrated in these western countries the most so it is natural they are the preferred destination. Also your point about urbanisation is mute and defective. Japan, tokyo has one of the most dense population of the world yet they do not have an housing crisis on their hands. The concept of working to death or grinding continously to pay rent or afford basic groceries doesn't make sense to me . Maybe it makes sense to you but we have a collective effort to fight the government wherever you are to do better to fix these things and make life much more easier for almost everyone. Go sample most major forums. Almost all Canadians are complaining of a bleak future and they are rightfully calling their government out on immigration without considering infrastructure or basic amenities. Money laundering in the housing sector by International people buying up houses due to the loopholes the government is not willing to close thus exercebating the current housing crisis. Monopolies by a few wealthy people and concentration of wealth in the hands of a few people. Rogers or so was just proposing to buy Shaw which would inherently lead to increasing monopoly and this seems to be the trend in almost all facets of businesses.Galen or whatever his name is owns Sobeys, owns loblaws, owns Fresco etc. For the healthcare issues. A country has its policies. Every single environment is protectionist. Do i support them not allowing foreign doctors not to practice? No. Are foreign doctors in Canada who now have to drive Uber to make ends meet right to be anti immigration? Hell yeah. That's their personal opinions and except i have superior facts to counter such, then fine and okay. We push till we have a semblance of peace. Go to twitter, go to https://www.reddit.com/r/canada/ https://www.reddit.com/r/personalfinancecanada/ There's an upward tick in dissatisfaction amongst citizens and it is tied to increased cost of living and general bleak future for a lot of citizens of which immigration is a prominent scape goat for their concerns. Are these post also made by Nigerians on such forums? My last response on this. Take care |
Another useless waste of resources. Government of welfarism. I guess this is a loan also. Instead of removing bottlenecks to prosperity for ordinary Nigerians. We are doing handouts again. What happens after the N10k is spent by the recipient? Would that automatically solve all their life problems? |
olalekan9320:Why are our current youths or people online so absolutionist? It is either your way or the other party aren't thinking correctly. He gave valid reasons for an immigrant to turn against immigration. The world is not black and white. There are grey areas and if you cannot argue based on facts or counter it then it's best to not talk or do well to understand perspectives. I would 100% support a reduction of immigration by starting especially with those schools awarding mushroom degrees and diplomas in the thousands to kids as a pathway to getting PR. It is just a slave labour mill without any guarantees of a good life for the multitude of these students if current levels is sustained. I don't even need to talk about housing. If your minimum wage workers can't afford to even rent a 1 bedroom apartment in most cities and have to share bedrooms and squat to the point people are converting sitting rooms and splitting them into bedrooms without proper ventilation for humans to live in then the government needs to either pay more attention to such basic needs or reduce the immigration levels till housing and other basic needs cam catch up. For the multitude of Nigerians who troop in, not to dampen your spirits but to take advantage of the West you need to seriously upskill and adapt to current employment trends and fields. I am afraid that the vast numbers of people immigrating might have to continuously do two, three or more jobs to even sustain any semblance of good living. If that's an okay life for you. So be it. And for those stating people should move to other cities. It used to be Ontario that was expensive. Now Calgary is getting expensive and out of reach. What happens when Calgary reaches the limit , move to Edmonton and clog that also and make it unlivable? Rinse , repeat till you have priced people out of basic living in all cities. Also living in the suburbs doesn't even guarantee you good living. You still have to contend with low jobs or low wages, long commute hours. Ordinary Hamilton to Toronto you spend close to 1hour , 30mins to transit and if you say move to Cambridge or somewhere else. How many jobs are there in Cambridge or St Catherine or Thunder Bay or Windsor? How do you commute from Cambridge to Toronto in a sensible time frame? Public transit to move people out of the city is abysmally poor or crazily expensive to the point it is not even worth it to move out as you would be spending almost the same amount you should be using to rent and commute 20minutes to pay for a train ride. And if you want to come for me , please note i am well above all the circumstances because i LUCKILY fall into a tech field that works remotely and gets above average pay but what about the millions and thousands without same opportunities and skillset? We need to be realistic and stop making it seem like a do or die affair. People get here and are shocked by the reality of things. Lol more reasons you have all those unsavory Youtube videos and stuff. I wouldn't stop people from coming but definitely Government has to do more. A lot of citizens are becoming agitated and starting to blame immigrants for their woes and this would be widespread soon. However incorrect and myopic that is is not their fault. People would always target the low hanging fruits first. So before we get to those levels maybe Government has to do something drastic and I would not even blame an immigrant for voting a candidate that vows to reduce immigration levels. It is the reality. |
bukatyne:Let me ask. If a Polling unit for election was situated inside the premises of Covenant University, are you stating Muslim females would be denied the right to vote if their polling units were situated in this location? And that would be based on what criteria? Jamb is a national examination, if you won't abide by the constitution of the country that grants every single citizen the right to religion then don't apply to be a center for such tests. It wasn't forced on them. Covenant applied to be a center. Also the candidates didn't select CU as exam centers, Jamb automatically picks centers for them based on their location. We can apply logic without sounding like a bigot |
