Why dont you help her make the choice by removing yourself from the picture? I'm not a rabble-rouser, but I just had to ask, cos to me, that's what every self-respecting person would do.

One other thing you seem to be blithely unaware of is the FACT that she is already cheating on you emotionally with that guy. Perhaps she is doing the same physically too. Leave her alone to sort herself out, and move on with your life, cos she isnt available and ready for a new relationship. What you should want is someone who is SURE about you, not this one wey dey play kalo kalo.

Sorry about the mess though. As long as you dont forget to take care of yourself, you'll be fine.
Perfectly said. She's the one that need to sort out issues herself. not you.

1. She disturbs and talks a lot.
2. She wouldn't allow me concentrate with my computer. I do MS-SQL and most times, domain name search.
3. She always complains about missing me and visiting NL forum so much.
4. When spending the night in my place, she'll want me to be holding her throughout the night and always asking about my dreams in the morning when she didn't even allow me to sleep.
5. She calls so much and always asking "where are you?"
6. [BLOCKED]
7. She always wants to work where I work.
8. Always want me to hug her when I open the door to welcome her.
9. Always ask who I chat with at any time on Whatsapp. Wish there was a way I could be online and she sees me offline on her end.
10. She hates football and most times, we'll quarel fighting to choose between Telemundo and SS3 and she wouldn't let me go to viewing center.

But I love her on the other hand...
1. She'll wake me up early to go to work anytime she's around and prepares food [arranged] in a tray for me.
2. She's a friend with the kitchen.
3. She does her 'home work' very well like a Calabar woman.
4. She is slim and looks small but matured (fig 8 ).
5. She is very humble.
6. She hates joints.
7. She is hardworking.
8. She encourages a lot.
9. She prays a lot.

I need your advice. Am just feeling confused but I need my own time and space. I need to be free.
You know what you need?

A reset. Someone does half of these for you and you are still thinking of quiting. ?

All her crave for attention and stuff is natural and would pan out with time. For the other aspects that may seem to be intrusive of your privacy. All you just need to do is to talk to her and reassure her about things. Your current actions or inactions MAYBE stiring the hornet nest and making her doubt you that's why she's kinda asking too many questions. I would do same if I were in her shoes.

There's no doubt you have a good woman who's got your back. Hold it tight, hoes plenty for outside o.

2 weeks.

Felt nothing for her. Knew it was fake and i was trying to make it work but i guess my heart was just not into it.

When you find it hard to do basic things needed in a relationship for example calls and other little things then its better to just call it quits and move on.

lomaxx:
That's your typical Nigerian girl. Never sees anything wrong in their unwise actions and hence doesn't feel there's a need to change.

So far as she sees nothing wrong in her attitude, there's nothing you can do.

I believe if you must leave the company of someone to another for a discussion which won't be brief, you should tell the person you're with to excuse you and give a hint that the discussion would be long so that he/she knows whether to watch you rant back and forth or do something better with their time.

If she doesn't do these, and still not see anything wrong in what she does, she needs psychiatric care. Her judgement is impaired.
Exactly. I guess most just lack courtesy or respect.

Just inform the person you would be away for long, not needlessly chatting away while he/she is sitting there. And these type of people are the ones that would cry blue murder if same is replicated or done to them.

FamilyRe: Can A Physically Abusive Person Change? by onegig(m): 3:00pm On Nov 11, 2014
freshdude2:
Still fair. The problem, though, is that Case 2 is the most common form in our society today. Have you heard of "pami n ku" women? Apparently, they don't mind being punched, they'll speak their mind as caustically as is possible and will, in fact, belittle a man who doesn't respond like a neanderthal.

I'm not going to condone violence, my point is how do we protect men from verbal abuse and implosion into physical violence? No, lip-taping and de-boarding don't count?

**How do you make that?
Your last two paragraph is what we should be talking truly about. We all agree it is bad to physically abuse anyone. No matter the gender. There is no justification for hitting someone. No matter what. Violence does not solve anything , just aggravates things but you need to see the advice given by most ladies on a thread on this family section that when someone verbally abuses you, you should return in kind with words. That aint it just abuse? You should just say yours back.

No condemnation. No advocation for the stoppage of all abuses from all genders.
FamilyRe: Can A Physically Abusive Person Change? by onegig(m):
5minsmadness:
Yes, a physically abusive person can change depending on what made such a person become physically abusive in the first place. I'm going to use husbands here as my example since it seems the thread is favouring that direction.

SCENARIO 1.
Some men do not enter marriage with the mind of beating their wives. However as marriage progresses and stress piles up, they become irritable and sometimes frustrated. They realise that they are no longer in control of situations as much as they were before marriage. They feel restricted and the burden of being responsible to the family and society as a married man bears down on them. Such men, if they cannot handle this stress, become perpetually angry and lash out at the slightest inclination.

The situation above is further compounded when such a man marries a quarrelous wife. Coming home from a hard day at the office only to meet a ferocious tiger of a woman who will tell him he is not up to his mates because he does not have a new car, he should stop squeezing his face and provide 'chop money' for the house, he should find money to give her to buy that new high heeled shoe that costs n70k, his mother is the one disturbing them because she is a witch etc etc, will further depress his psyche and make him want to lash out. Some men might 'walk away' at this point with the woman screaming behind his back that 'he is not a man'. But some other men would have had enough at this point. He might scream at her to shut up but she'll simply scream back that he should make her shut up. The tirade will continue until the man gets physical and slaps her. Suddenly he is a physically abusive husband. Nobody wants to know how it came about that he slapped his wife, all they know is that he is physically abusive because all men are potentially physically abusive.

Solution: He should talk to his wife. Let her know the way she talks to him vexes him. Explain to her how she can pass her message across without being verbally abusive.
He should also learn to control his temper. Realise his wife is prone to being verbally abusive and let her know when she starts using hurtful words.
Both couples should realise they are facing the challenges of life together. It is neither of them's fault that they are going through these challenges. A united front will make the challenges easier to overcome.
Communication is the key. Sometimes people misunderstand what other people mean when they use certain words. A colleague of mine says 'don't be silly!' to almost everybody at the office. He means it as a joke but a new person might take it the wrong way. Communicating with and understanding your partner leads to less friction between you two.
And most times such issues should be taken as a case by case thing. Each individual is unique and what lead to such action is always very different so we cannot actually make blanket statements.

However, I would be more leniet and considerate of someone who makes a genuine mistake and is remorseful and seeks ways of correcting it(especially if its a first time offender. We all have some acts that we actually don't know reside within us until when in compromising situations and they boomerang in our faces) rather than someone who lives in denial of their violent and abusive nature even when they have in the past shown acts related to such like them intentionally breaking their phone screens out of annoyance or having a caustic tongue.

This set are whom i believe can't change or may find it hard to change. Because they believe they are very good (earthly angels) and not above mistakes and there is no need for revaluation even when they show such negative vibes continously.

FamilyRe: Can A Physically Abusive Person Change? by onegig(m):
It depends on the individual. If it's a one time thing that just happened and the person has come to terms with such a behaviour as being bad and unacceptable and the person involved is willing to work on such act, then to me they have achieved half the change that is desired and just need to work on things and persevere.

oh oh, I won't even love to see him again let alone talk with him, my brothers even hate him more than I do. Thanks for the advice.
Hate is a strong word to use and a very bad thing to harbor. It not only consumes you but has psych effects on your decisions subconsciously. You are doing yourself more harm than good. Just learn to move on and learn to live with his absence. Tough but life throws us various tribulations and this is your own cross to carry.

What he did was despicable but just learn to forget it. You should thank God your mum stood by you and not throw you out like he did.Just forge on and excel in life. There is more to life than hating on someone who for all intent may be dead or even doesn't remember he has offsprings somewhere.

And mind you there's nothing like a "broken home", just a family with different architecture, peculiarities and description. Stop attaching negativity to yourself. Nothing wrong being brought up by a single parent.

You have a failing hard disk. Replace it and you would be able to complete installation. A 320gb costs around 8k now. Try and buy an external casing to be able backup your files.
