Sterope:David what? That one? I would rather read the French constitution before i read whatever he writes. As for this article. Just an excuse not to labe the President incompetent. There are big men yada yada yada... And the so called big men are ghosts? Just state it that the president is purposely not cracking down on bandits. That's moe like aiding and abetting crime. |
This is actually very simple. There's no need to cut any one off. You are learned, your dad seems to not know how to handle money and investment. Why aren't you using your knowledge to actually help them reorganize their business? Sit him down, do the maths. What's their monthly spending? What are their needs? What is one off payments they need to make towards the education of your siblings? What are the investments they have and can restructure? You said he has an uncompleted building in Ogun. What are you guys doing about it? Taking a loan to complete it so it can generate profit or selling off to divest into a new biz? You sure can cut them off but would that resolve the issue? You should be pragmatic. Most of our parents aren't good with money or have enterprenueral skills. Let other nairalanders tell you their tales. Give them 1M today and 6months down the line the business is bankrupt already. You can choose to take a positive step or sit back and think cutting them off would solve the problem( it won't). |
AutoChick4U:I would rather we are not able to jail anyone than jail an innocent man just because we want a sense of justice. That's why the onus lies on the prosecuting team to prove beyond doubt that an accused committed a crime. |
AutoChick4U:What system works? You know nothing. I can count off hand not 1,2,3 or even 5 wrongly accused POC in the US who after years of spending time in jail were found not guilty of such crimes and were nailed in because the Police department just needed someone to jail for a crime and they fit the description. Judicial officers world wide are most times not interested in solving a crime but having the "alledged person" behind bars. As long as they can rope someone in, they would nail you and shut the door. This does not meam he is not guilty but if he says he has an alibi and DNA records contrary to what the PD is saying then such should be admissible. |
Sterope:He needs help with such reasoning. Maybe the roles should be reversed also so he can better understand the things he said. Imagine his parents marrying him off at 16 to a 60 year old woman just to prevent him from sexual exploration and exploitation. After all not only girls experience abuse, boys do too. I guess he would baulk at such proposition. Also ask him how a 16 year old living under her parents roof would say no without dire consequences? How is she able to surmoun the courage to say no when the threat of losing shelter, feeding and schooling is imminent in such situations? Such consent is never valid because it is made under duress and not out of free will. |
LilMissFavvy:This is also idiotic. You agree the baby can be a witch although you don't agree with his actions. I am 100% sure if he was shadowed, all he claims to have affected his biz is his own doing. He is the witch bedevilling his own biz. |
Ayoolamax:1milliom in four months is extremely low. That's 250k per month. An average person in most Lagos suburbs spends much more than this in a month so that's actually very low if you were visiting and spent that in a month. |
This must be madness. I guess State governord don't know they are on par with the President in a republic. No wonder we have such sub par developments and no development in all states. Who the mess sent you to go build an airport you have no resources to complete or maintain? No feasibility studies was done or project funding pathways was looked at before things came up? Like they just woke up and said, we love the idea of an airport and just gathered bricks and mortar and started building? |
Do you work in any organization that uses Mobile email? That's intune android app. if you bought the phone second hand. Probably they didn't remove the Mobile Management from the device. |
folks4luv:Meet the forex demands of a country of 200million people? Where even the most basic things are imported? That's impossible. More like Nigerians should look inward and do more of import substitution with locally available items. |
speedfreak:I think road trips are still very interesting if you love driving long hours and have the time to spare. You can stop over at Lokoja . But that's like a 12 hour drive stretch exclusive of traffic or stop overs. Too long for my liking. Also Lokoja to Abuja is just about 4 hours, so why spend so much hours on one leg of the traffic when you drive so little the second day? Personal preference would be to stop at any functional city i get to along the way by 3pm if Travel start time from Lagos was 6am. Even with the brightest lights for night driving, you would be driving almost blind in pitch darkness without road markings or street lights on pot hole filled roads. This is asides the security challenge. Also the rule of thumb is to prepare for eventualities, what happens if you have a breakdown on the road at 9pm? You are likely at the mercy of whatever lurks in the dark till morning. Also don't compare those night bus journeys to your reality. They always have multiple drivers doing the stretch of traveling. |
This is classless by Emefiele but i agree with the CBN's decision to close down AbokiFx. The question we should ask ourselves is. Where does AbokiFx get their information from? How is it aggregated? What are their sources? What processes go into vetting the details? Do they have independent auditors? Someone can't abitrarily sit down in the corner of their house and determine the exchange rate of a whole nation. What stops AbokiFx owner, his friends and family from buying millions worth of $ at a price today and 3 days later hike the rates on their site only to resell at insane profits. They can do this rinse and repeat by just manipulating the numbers. How wpuld you the layman on the street verify such? That's a federal and financial crime which can be liable to more than 20years in prison. There's absolutely nothing pushing prices of dollar from 490 to 570 in the space of a month except speculation. No fundamental indicators, nothing . Not like the country defaulted on some big bad loans or we just experienced a magnitude 10.0 scale earthquake destroying parts of the country. So what has been driving the prices up if not some players manipulating the market? |
nosiebaba:Please stop talking about things like an uneducated person. A thermostat reads the temperature of the Engine bay and determines if it should increase the RPM of the engine to quikly heat the engine to optimal level during cold starts. Also reads the temperature of the engine when warm and helps maintain optimal engine temperature. Most max engine levels are 195°C.. once the system detects temperature above such levels it kicks in and tries to cool down the engine Not to have a thermostat is like a blind man who also has no sense of touch or feel. Your car can't ascertain when the engine is warm or cold and just works continuously. This is highly inefficient and can lead to engine wear and tear. A working thermostat isn't the cause of your engine overheating. |
youngalex:Why do we do all these? Are you saying the engineer that made the car, isn't knowledgeable enough to know that a single cell radiator would work with it? Changing radiators to a double cell is an absolute farce. Find the reason your car is overheating and you can fix from there. Had an over heating issues some 2 years back and all they were saying was change the radiator to double cell or connect the fan directly to the battery. I told them Bull Shit. If a single cell worked before on it, why isn't that single cell carrying the car anymore and why would you want to overwork your fan by having it on 247 why do you have a relay system then? Thankfully i keep notes of repair works. Apparently the over heating started some days after i changed the front engine seat and they needed to pull out the radiator then to fix the replacement. Checked Honda's manual to see procedures to carry out after a radiator removal and it was recommended that you needed to fill up the radiator drive for 30 to 100 miles , drain and refill the radiator. If you don't do this there are likely air pockets that have built up in the radiator when it was removed so fluid wasn't flowing through it and this would cause overheating. Implemented this drain and refill in the car, and not had a single over heating issue in 2 years. When you have issues. Follow the manufacturers manual and not all these trial and error mechanics around. |
speedfreak:Just seeing your thread I think breaking the journey would have been lovely since you had your partner with you. You could break the journey at Lokoja or stop at Ekiti and relax a bit. I do a 5 hour out of Lagos trip frequently and i most of the times use it as an opportunity to explore cities in between the destinations. Even if you leave Lagos by 5am, the construction along the Lagos-ibadan stretch would extend your journey by at least an 1hour 30mins. Also the stretch from Ibadan to Ekiti isn't really that good with the police check points at almost every 5km. For your own sake, make plenty N100 or N50 changes. If they stop you and nicely ask for Bottle water money. Abeg give them. Or you could have snacks handy and give it to them. They patched lots of potholes on the road but there are still lots of failed portions so you need to maintain 80 to 100km speeds at most. Lots of peeps fly past me at 120km/hr or even 140km only for you to meet them infront with a burst tyre. Last thing you want is stop to change tyres or driving without a spare with hundreds of km left to cover. The Ekiti-kabba-okene end is an hilly area and the roads aren't that straight and smooth , so expect a lot of curves and turns which means you can't maintain maximum speeds. This would eat into your travel time considerably. Most hotels outside of Lagos are dirt cheap for a 3 star one. You would get very good ones @ 15k or less with breakfast in most cities outside of Lagos. Breaking your journey helps reduces the need to overspeed or driving long hours at a stretch and most importantly avoiding night travel. Nigerian roads aren't equipped for such. Google maps is pretty reliable inside of Lagos but once you are in a town/city outside Lagos. Please do not take its advice to follow a shorter route and deviate from the highway. You go lost. Google don carry me go drop for middle of road that was leading to a mountain in Ekiti, all in the name of finding alternative routes. Lol |
Abdulsobur02:You can be the judge. At least pictures don't lie. Compare 08 Camry and 01 civic dashboard Don't let me even bring night time illumination of the dashboard instruments into this discussion.
|
LaSenior:The interior of a 2001 Civic is far asthetically pleasing than that of a 2008 camry. Was in a 2014 Corolla recently and dash looked like something from 1996. Radio display looked like those tiny size Casio Calculator display. Worst part was the door knob. Felt very plastic and inferior. I had to check again when i alighted if it indeed was a 2014 Corolla. |
No one considered euthanasia Why keep a man in a vegetative state for 4 decades when even if he should regain consciousness would suffer the aftermath of a dormant life for the rest of his life? Imagine being healthy at 34 only to wake up at 70 tied to a bed. I doubt anyone would be able to mentally succeed such vast differences |
Ikillbrokehoes:Exactly. I own an SRS-XB31 and i can attest to this. Portable but the bass is extremely good. He can check the XB60. That's my next target. Might be a bit pricy due to dollar exchange rates now but you can't go wrong with Sony bars. As for the people looking for that ground thumping sounds...you would get that with the sound bars but if you want those ground quivering noises go for the party booster versions. |
ThierryJay:They can charge income tax on those producing the foodstuff. Also VAT isn't just the only tax you can raise from such. This might be an issue from the start as most are subsitence farmers but in the end would push more people into structural agriculture where mechanization is the main stay and in turn boost the income of such states. The elites know what they are doing. They can't push income taxes on the millions up north else those would start asking questions about good governance. The solutions to most of Nigeria's problems are bare and easy to fix but there's the dishonesty part and unwillingness to take responsibilities from both the leaders and followers. |
emmadejust:Nigeria does not practice distribution tax or goods in transit tax to the best of my knowledge. VAT here is more like consumption tax i.e at the point of use. The end user always pays the final cost of VAT. If i am transporting goods then the end users in the state i am transporting to would be required to pay such taxes at the point of sale. |
When Nigeria is ready to grow. We would shed all those silly rules hindering development. Yes, some states might need subsidies but such subsidies should be aimed at helping those states generate more funds and not build more mosques or churches or spend on irrelevant expenditures. If you are cash strapped, you shouldn't go on a jollification trip or sponsoring frivolous programs. If a state knows it doesn't generate enough VAT, it won't go and build a useless airport that only receieves a single flight once in a month. It would make them sit up and aim their resources at entities that would yield more VAT. It even goes against commonsense that a state works hard to create the enabling environment for businesses to thrive. Provides security, build new roads and infrastructure but the Tax of using those infrastructure to generate money doesn't go back to the state but rather a central purse where it is given meagre sum. Also States should be able to determine their VATs. If i want to encourage new businesses in my state, i can actually remove such VAT based on my financial standings and projections. This current "one size fits all" doesn't encourage growth. |
What the Bleep is wrong with people. Someone just had an accident and you are placing mobile phones in front of them taking pictures. Are people cursed or what ? Are you guys human at all? |
airmark:Why you dey answer that kain person sef? Wasn't it evident that if VVD wasn't on the pitch yesterday, the goal by Mane won't happen. Trent definitely would not be at the 10 position making the assist for Mane. |
Talk it over. Explain why you think it is not working. Give reasons and tell the number of chances you have given for it to be successful but just didn't work out. Also be honest if you have fallen out of love. Might hurt initially but they would respect you in future for how level headed you were. It was a relationship not a battle of wits. |
I am saying it again. This Adaobi is dumb. Reading just the first sentence from her article. I knew straight up she was up to no good. I remember her clearly now just checking her history. She was the journalist that wrote this ignominy of an article that her grand parents owned slave and she was proud of what they stood for. https://www.newyorker.com/culture/personal-history/my-great-grandfather-the-nigerian-slave-trader Can't expect any better from someone who spouts such rubbish. Mtswwwheeewww.... |
This adaobi is dull |
This is absolutely horrible. Even when accused. People deserve fair hearing. Holding people without trial after 24hours, threating them like animals is nothing but barbarism. People wonder why lots of young Nigerians feel a disconnect from the country. This is it. |
SKhanmi:Shaving sticks are the worst thing. Just get a Phillips beard clipper. Those things are life savers for pubic hair.. Used one for years now without a bump or itch. |
MeghaneMorgane:Easier said than done. These issues cut across all firms in Nigeria. Ask any recruiter, there is an extreme shortage of qualified hands especially in key IT areas. It's either the pay isn't commiserate with the stress/level of experience required or every available capable hand are planning on relocating outside the country. Why would an IT person with years of experience take a shitty $1k per month salary when the turnonver for such apps/infrastructure run into billions? Also soldier go soldier come doesn't apply in IT , if you don't have the experience or technical skills, the results are always very instant. You can't patch such. Firms that have tried it know the results. |
It seems God blessed Nigeria with a lot of dumb leaders without an iota of Urban planning sense. 18k seater stadium and the surrounding is completely filled with houses and no major exits. Game days would be an harrowing experience for those living around and those coming to watch. Also what happens in an emergency? Or evacuation is needed? |
socially4fun:Find a way to reduce your score. The last 3 Ontario Tech draws has been between 453 to 465. Your score is a bit higher. Look for things to remove to reduce your score a bit. If you have a worse off IELTS exam that can knock off some points please use that. |
