So you are justifying your wrong with another wrong? Have you lost it? Is this revenge racism or what? Take a nap bro it's sunday ![]() Pearlyakin: |
Why would you describe your fellow human in such manner? Is everything okay at home? Pearlyakin: |
First off, Happy new year dear humble Nairalanders. May 2022 favour us all. While it is absolutely necessary and in fact beneficial to have goals and aspirations lined up for the new year, the approach is sometimes unrealistic. The overzealousness is unmatched! How do plan to do something for 365 days when you never even tried for 3 days. Rather than trying to quit smoking or pornography or build a whole new habit in 2022. Why not start by trying new week resolutions, make a very short plan, write goals for the week, then try for a month and then progress onward, now that sounds doable to me. It’s 2022, lets be true to ourselves and make daily/weekly intentional efforts to better our lives. Godspeed. ![]()

Occasionally we have heard Nigerians abroad emphasize the loneliness that abounds in the diaspora. But what is the Canadian experience for single Nigerians? How do you compete in the international dating pool? Canada can be very lonesome for Nigeran singles…especially the ladies. In 2014, user data on OkCupid showed that most men on the site rated black women as less attractive than women of other races and ethnicities. The shock value that presents itself can be quite appalling, you were once a queen in your home town and suitors came unprovoked. Watching some YouTube videos of our single ladies in the diaspora, these were common “If you have a spouse in Nigeria, stick with him”, “You have to be intentional about dating”, “Nobody will toast you”. You could almost see through their eyes, completely taken aback, reminiscing the quintessential Nigerian scenario of -guy approaches girl, toasts and cajoles, collects phone number, happily ever after... Good memories but that’s not happening again, not anymore. Welcome to a new dispensation ![]()

A huge thanks to everyone who read, offered ideas and insights to this post. I am once again revisiting this long awaited idea of mine, this time I would love to discuss the benefits that this idea will be bringing to the Nigerian ecosystem. Firstly I mentioned the primary goal of this business, which to create an eco-friendly yet consumer receptive model. E.g use of jars, multi-use plastic wares, and generally packaging materials that are sustainable. Fruit businesses can be hard, due to transportation, spoilage, waste etc. Location is also a key component and finding a medium to increase the shelf life of these fruits requires good management practices. What advise would you give in terms of executing this business? Is it sustainable, would you stop by a shop that sells precut fruits and blended smoothies at Shoprite? Would you invest in such business? All thoughts and advices are appreciated. Thank you! OneMarvee: |
Nothing beats the emotional, sweet and unquantifiable excitement of a new beginning, starting life in a greener, peaceful, saner pasture. Setting foot on the almighty guardian of the maple leaf, Canada! a dream come true. The airport chronicles, settling down, touching snow for the first time, trying hard to sound Canadian, repeating yourself, finding fun things to do, your first job on campus, video calls from friends back home, mamas prayers, aesthetically pleasing JPEGs for the gram, shopping for your winter clothing, navigating the education system, meeting new people, spending in $$, congratulations, congratulations, congratulations! Welcome to Canada! but wait there's more. To be continued... |
The information is still valid anyway . But wow 11 solid years ![]() Alexjohn2020: |

Dear Genuine Child of God, you can pass your message across without being passive aggressive. Shalom Hundredfold4lif: |
This is an age old debate and I have not found a concrete reply. Many people argue that the church is rich already and so instead of further enriching the church, it is best to "tithe to the poor" . Personally, my church hardly does street outreach in terms of giving or blessing the community, it is always evangelism. So I am on the side of giving to the less priviledged around you. But Leviticus 27:30 says, “A tithe of everything from the land, whether grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the Lord: it is holy to the Lord.” These gifts were a reminder that everything belonged to God and a portion was given back to God to thank him for what they had received. Does giving back to God neccesarily mean giving to the church? Is giving directly to the church any different from giving to the poor in your community? I will let the bible scholars and free thinkers of NL sort this one out. I am open to discussions and diverse opinions. T for Thanks |
That would be a great addition. Thanks again! |
Thanks for this! Having the shop outside the mall entrance might even be better. budaatum: |
Dear Business gurus of Nairaland, My Friend and I are brainstorming the idea of a Pre-cut fruits/veggies retail shop in Nigeria, preferably in Malls. From observation, most retail shops in malls are fast food restaurants like KFC, Mr Biggs, Chicken Republic, Cold-stone. There really isn't a physical retail business in Malls that cater towards sales of ready-to-eat fruit and vegetables, not much opportunites for consumers to eat healthy. Our business aims to create more healthy fruit and veggies assortment options for customers in high foot traffic areas. Our model in quite different because we are not "pre-packaging" them and letting them sit in a plastic container. We want to cut and sell as the consumer makes their order. Now the low shelf life of fruits and veggies is an obvious disadvantage but we are still working on this. We also plan on taking an eco-friendly approach during sales, i.e less single-use plastics, we are looking for environmentally friendly yet consumer receptive options. We are very optimistic and we would love to hear your input. Also we would love to know if anyone here would buy from a pre-cut fruit shop. And if any business experts have any advice for us. Thank you For lack of better pictures on google, this is the sales model of the business but ofcourse, less plastics, more hygenicenvironment and aesthetically pleasing ![]()

Hi Dream Interpreters, I had a strange dream last night where i opened my wardrobe and on the last shelf, I saw a toad, brown and small. I was scared and screamed. Then the toad started jumping off and went into a corner, as I raised a clothe off to see where it had gone, I saw about 3-4 more. One of them was quite big. I do not really know what this means because toads are usually found in swampy areas, OUTSIDE. I heard "seeing an animal" in a dream could mean something, depending on what type. I have tried to think it through but nothing. Can anyone please try to interprete? Thank you |

But would you consider that a sin or a wrong deed? Or are there really situations where a person is neither living nor telling the truth? caesymore: |
I have had conversations with certain people and I felt angry that they were not being completely honest with me? Apparently some folks would claim that they did not lie they only withheld the truth, but what is the difference? What do you think? Shower thoughts with OneMarvee- E1S9 |
You sound pretty confused. I am not implying that we should solely surround our prayers or requests on God's plan for us (Which we know very little of). What I am asking is that, are we aware that God's agenda for us might be totally different from our heart desires? Do we put that into consideration when we feel like something is not working for us or have unanswered prayers? That's what am simply saying. Kobojunkie: |
Isaiah 55:8 explains that God's ways are quite different from ours, further down the new testament, we are encouraged to trust in God and not lean on our own understanding. But many times we always pray that God grants our wishes and heart desires, we ask for all the thing we can think of. I always wonder, do Christians realize God's plan might be different from our personal agendas? No matter how good or promising they might appear. How many times do we purposefully pray for God's will to be done in our lives? Now this is not to juxtapose seeking the face of God for something crucial or extremely personal, I am talking in generic terms. Are we willing to know about God's plan and promises for us as in Jeremiah 29:11? Or we are swallowed by our wants, desires and aspirations? Shower thoughts with One Marvee- E1S8 |
Many times, we hear a sad news, a brief illness, a heart attack, a kidney disease, cancer.... suddenly.....gone too soon We mourn and mourn, but then we "move". Nobody talks about regular health checkups, we are not informed about how illnesses and diseases can be cured, treated or managed if discovered early. Everyone resorts to "we will all die one day" True but let us learn to take care ourselves. What good is it to die a death that could have been avoided? Are we that nonchalant in Nigeria? How often do you visit the hospital for a checkup? Let's hear you Shower thoughts with OneMarvee- S1E7 |
Thank you for taking the time to expatiate on the topic. Really thoughtful points you made there. God bless you Splinz: |
Absolutely not! And that was not the motive behind this post. I heard something pretty new and only posted it here to get enlightened. I am grateful for the in-depth replies I have gotten so far. Thank you! CharisEleos: |
Does anyone have anything to contribute? |
After having a lengthy biblical discussion with a friend of mine about Death, Heaven and Hell, my beliefs were shaken a bit. All my life, I always believed that when a person dies, judgement follows immediately and they either go to Heaven or Hell. I have watched several gospel movies and YouTube videos that stressed this same fact but alas, it is not quite what it is. My friend, who is a solid Christian, goes to church, prays often, reads the bible, pay tithe but does not believe in the existence of Heaven and Hell as an afterlife destination, he says " if at all, God resides in heaven, and the Devil resides in Hell, that's all. When we die, we seize to exist, we know nothing, we do not even recognize that we are dead. " I read an article that said "When we stop breathing, our breath doesn’t go anywhere. It just stops. So too the “soul” doesn’t continue on outside the body, subject to postmortem pleasure or pain. It doesn’t exist any longer. It added that nothing could make an afterlife existence sweet, since there was no life at all, and thus no family, friends, conversations, food, drink – no communion even with God. I am still sitting on the fence of this topic, but there is something else about we Christians only focusing on life after death, doing everything righteous just to "Go to heaven" and not because we actually want to do it. Pastors hardly preach about helping each other and making your time on earth purposeful. It is all about "leaving this sinful world" I will like to know your thought on this. Kindly help a confused sister ![]() |
Wrong thread bro, try education. HellVictorinho: |
I see what you mean. I remember the Fintech buzz on Twitter few months ago. I was really excited for "Nigeria to the world" but I really hoped it wasn't a bubble set to burst. I think Paystack's exit last year made Fintech appear as a goldmine for foreign investors(could be). Let's not forget Africa has a billion people and we are just developing, access to internet is getting cheaper, mobile phones too. I have high hopes too but It's quite understandable why people would think you are hating. SocialJustice: |
