finally FAAC has ended well The Federation Account Allocation Committee on Tuesday shared N467.8 billion. This is N38.7 billion more than what the three tiers of government shared in March. The Accountant-General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris, who represented the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, told journalists in Abuja that the N467.8 billion was distributed under four distributable sub-heads. Idris said: “The distributable revenue for the month is N299.93 billion. The sum of N6.33 billion was refunded by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation. “There is also a proposed distribution of N66.96 billion from the excess Petroleum Profit Tax. “Also, an exchange gain of N22.25 billion is proposed for distribution, therefore the total revenue distributable for the current month, including VAT of N78.65 billion is N467.8 billion.” Idris also said the government generated N228.54 billion as mineral revenue, an increase of N16.94 billion from what was generated in February. Similarly in March, the non-mineral revenue also increased by N24.47 billion, from the N78 billion the country generated in February. Idris said after deducting cost of collections to the revenue generating agencies, the Federal Government got N136.5 billion, states N69.23 billion and local government councils N73.26 billion. In addition, he said the sum of N18 billion was given to the oil producing states based on the 13 per cent derivation principle. On the balance of the excess crude account, Idris said the account currently stood at $2.45 billion. Despite the increase in revenue generated for the month, the Federal Government drew attention to the decrease in crude oil export volume. Idris said crude oil export sales dropped by $6.4 million. He also said that the oil revenue for the month also suffered from continued leakages of oil pipelines arising from sabotage of oil pipelines. The Chairman of Forum of Finance Commissioners in Nigeria, Mahmoud Yunusa, spoke on the increase in the allocation and what it meant to states. Yunusa said: “Oil prices are looking very promising and the Federal Government will do everything to ensure continued peace in the Niger-Delta.” |

“The DSS came up with a report and the man who was accused refuted it. “He explained and gave a reason. “When that happened, the President looked at what Magu said and what the DSS wrote and he said: ‘I am satisfied with what Magu said.’ “He then decided to retain Magu as the nominee for EFCC. if every accused person is allowed to say something like Magu did, what is d essence of trying them in the court of law. is PMB a lawyer or a Judge? some people are just too quick to support this current administration without reading their body language. so because Magu is involved, dss no longer have a good evidence. let us try to differentiate between the truth n lies of today |

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has acknowledged that President Muhammadu Buhari has been away from the country longer than expected. The party’s spokeman, Bolaji Abdullahi, said this at the end of their National Working Committee (NWC) meeting in Abuja on Thursday, which had some Governors in attendance. He, however, commended Buhari, for transferring power to Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, before his departure. “The national working committee (NWC) of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) led by the national chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun on Thursday met with governors elected on the platform of the APC,” Abdullahi said. “The national chairman reviewed the state of the party, x-raying the challenges facing the APC in relations to funding and financing. “It was agreed that the party is not effectively funded as it should be. A new funding mechanism was therefore devised based on a planned continuous membership registration exercise across the country. The meeting agreed that this is the only sustainable way to fund the party. “The meeting also discussed the situations in some of the state chapters of the party, and it was agreed that an effective conflict resolution mechanism will be put in place to stem the tide of internal dissension and resolve existing issues. “As we near the midterm, the meeting also resolved to launch a project to showcase the accomplishments of APC governors in all the 24 states controlled by the party. “The upcoming non-elective convention was also discussed and it was agreed that the convention will take place on April 29. “The meeting acknowledged that the president, His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari has been away longer than was originally envisaged. The meeting however, commended the president for following the rule of law by allowing the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo to assume proper leadership and by so doing saved the country the kind of trauma that was experienced in the past”, he stated. Buhari has been on medical vacation in the UK since January 19. |

With the results collated from the Supplementary Elections of February 25, 2017 and rerun elections of December 10, 2016, Chief Jerome Eke of the PDP defeated Mr Ogbonna Nwuke of the APC. Also, the Tony Ejiogu of the Peoples Democratic Party defeated his closest challenger, Mr Golden of the APC. For the Etche State Constituency 2, Returning Officer, Oluwatosin Odusonya announced that APC scored 1618 votes while PDP polled 4162 votes. As the two INEC Returning Officers for the Etche/ Omuma Federal Constituency, Prof Shola Omotola and Etche Constituency 2, Oluwatosin Odusonya were about to declare the PDP winner, military personnel at the Collation Center brought a phone to them, claiming that the call was from the National Commissioner of INEC in charge of the election. Upon receiving the call, INEC Returning Officer for Etche/ OmumaFederal Constituency, Prof Shola Omotola stated that all collated results should be moved to the Port Harcourt office of INEC. Soldiers of the Nigerian Army who stopped the declaration at Okehi moved the collated results alongside party agents and political leaders to Port Harcourt. They were joined by PDP leaders led by Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike and the APC Candidate for Etche/ Omuma Federal Constituency, Mr Ogbonna Nwuke. At the headquarters, leaders of the two parties insisted that the two INEC Returning Officers publicly announce collated results to the media and party agents present. After the announcement, the INEC Returning Officers handed the already collated results to party agents. Party leaders left INEC by 3.30am on Sunday morning, while agents and security agencies were detailed to stay with the INEC Returning Officers for the declaration of results by 9am on Sunday, 26th February, 2017. The Returning Officers claimed that they were directed by the National Commissioner not to declare PDP winner of the two elections. They claimed that the National Commissioner said she must get clearance from Abuja, before any further step would be taken.
