PoliticsRe: Chris Ngige Is My Choice As The Next Anambra Governor by Onlytruth(m): 10:28am On Aug 09, 2013
noblezone: Ngige no doubt is strong candidate for the guber seat.
but every sentiment should be put aside.

Soludo is a rare gem! He will get the job done.
Building of roads, paying of salaries, etc are just basics: we need to get Anambra on the global business map. Soludo's dream of industrialisation and commercialisation is what we need in this generation.

Let us come together and give him our vote!
BOLD FACT.

Plshavmercyamen: Please, for the avoidance of doubt I'm ME and can NEVER be anybody else and i take exception to your allegation that I'm impersonating somebody else. That said, the other points you raised about the strategic importance of Anambra in 2015 elections is very true and I know both PDP and Apga will give it their very best and I can assure you that Ngige is not oblivious of these facts But you will have to note that this election will be determined by the masses as so many things is at stake with its attendant attention. Never underestimate the appealing aura of Ngige in Anambra politics as it will be double tragedy for Apga if they miscalculate in any way.
This election is so important that none of the other contestants will even blink, particularly APGA and PDP.
I don't have proof, but APGA is in a quiet alliance with PDP whereby Jonathan will support APGA, while APGA will not field a presidential candidate again in 2015. It worked in 2011; why change that winning formula now?
PoliticsRe: Police Will Flush Out Bad Eggs - IGP Abubakar by Onlytruth(m): 10:07am On Aug 09, 2013
You should start by denying the state governments the use of the Nigerian police in illegal movement of Nigerians from one state to another against their will.
It is a constitutional breach and makes a mockery of the Nigerian nation.
Stop this illegality IG!

Plshavmercyamen: Since Ngige is a good man and Soludo is a technocrat according to you. Dont you think that it takes a good man in Nigeria murky waters of politics to allow a technocrat deliver? And what if Soludo(technocrat) is made a commissioner/S.A. of budget and economic planning under this good man(Ngige), dont you think that Anambra will be better for it? Remember that the cv of peter Obi is very intimidating but he has not been able to effectively translate his personal professional achievement in to governance but that is not to say that he has not done his best.
Nwanne, the tail does not wag the dog. Soludo is a technocrat and ALSO a Good man!
Ngige should not even be trusted with a senate seat sef.

Plshavmercyamen: Those supporting soludo and castigating Ngige on the basis of political party affiliation(APGA) and APC hmmm I laugh in Igbo. I can bet you guys that Soludo Will NEVER get the ticket of Apga to run for the Guber. And I wonder what will be the position of people like Onlytruth who believes that "politics is local" and is drumming up support for Soludo with tribalistic veil. Eze biri kwa o! Hahahahahahaha
Nwanne you don't have to open another handle just to take a position. We are all brothers and can live with whoever wins. lol

On the point you raised about Soludo not getting APGA ticket, well, unless APGA can bring another person with the same pedigree (I can't see any other now in Anambra), then APGA may well lose the election to either PDP or Ifeanyi Uba's LP. People keep underestimating Ifeanyi Uba, but he is a factor.

Just take my word, APC can NEVER win Anambra state for many reasons, but perhaps the two most important reasons are that:

(1) The fate of Jonathan's 2015 reelection hangs on that. If APC wins Anambra, he will lose Igboland. If he loses Igboland, he will likely lose the presidential polls. Governors are powerful players in presidential polls in Nigeria.

(2) The current governor Peter Obi will pull all stops to ensure that Ngige never succeeded him. The bad blood is there, and is real.

BTW did you read the thread I posted about how the candidates will likely emerge? I'll find that thread and bring it up again.

Odenigbo ife ikwulu bu ife melu eme.
For now, Enugu and Asaba international should be enough. I even suspect that if an ambitious governor takes over in Imo state, he may push for a third international there.

So, Anambra really doesn't need an airport.
PoliticsRe: Soludo's Manifesto For Anambra by Onlytruth(m): 9:20am On Aug 09, 2013
Odenigbo Aroli: You people keep mocking Obi for Akunyili's lost; what does that have to do with Obi,other than the fact that they(Obi and Akunyili) belong to the same party ? Moreso, you should know that it was just a senatorial election for Anambra centrral, which was Ngige's biggest stronghold. Idenmili north is the most populated part of Anambra central, this is where Ngige hail from and most of his achievements in his three years as governor were situated in Idenmili, where the Odenigbo himself hail from. Now,how do you expect an unknown figure like Akunyili in Anambra or Idenmili to be precise to beat Ngige, who is like a God there. Akunyili lost was expected and she took it in good faith but remember that Ngige needed A BYE ELECTION to convincingly put her out. With the above details, you should know that Ngige's faith is on the noose, especialy when the contest is for the governorship post, which involve the whole of Omanbala land. This sshit is gonna be a long haul for Ngige.
Good analysis.

Bensonn: @onlytruth i did not expect less from you
But I said the truth.

All posters here know that I even supported Ngige during the last elections (though tacitly).
Nna we should be using our BRAINS to assess these politicians. Ngige has failed a lot of his supporters since he went to the senate. His failure there gave some of us time to take a close look at others like Soludo for example.

I supported Soludo too, but my heart was with Ngige -either of them was fine for me then...until now that Ngige has failed at the senate, and failed to defend us in this latest saga with Fashola. All my fears about his continued membership of ACN was confirmed during this saga.

Meanwhile Soludo has gotten much better with his last loss. He now has some political experience to work with and has taken his time to choose his next party carefully.

In any case it is my personal belief that ALL POLITICS IS LOCAL. The best Igbo should now be in APGA, no apologies about that!
PoliticsRe: Chris Ngige Is My Choice As The Next Anambra Governor by Onlytruth(m): 8:46am On Aug 09, 2013
To think that there was a time I supported Ngige. cry

This man basically told Igbo people that his personal ambition is far more important than their interests.
I had often wondered why Ngige did not sponsor any bills in the senate despite all the problems we are facing as Ndigbo, SE, and Anambra state. I wondered whether Akunyili would have gone to the senate and sat still without proposing any bill?
The Akunyili I know would have been one of the movers and shakers of the senate; but she didn't get there because people trusted Ngige more.

Well, like we Igbo say "o na adi mma ka ikuku kuo ka afu ike okuko" -it is good for the wind to blow occasionally so that the ugly rear side of the fowl could be exposed.
That wind has been blowing for Ngige since he went to the senate; it reached its "storm stage" with the deportation saga, and lo our dear "onwa" was not only MIA, but actually sided with our oppressors, all in the name of party loyalty. He should have thought about that party loyalty when he stubbornly stayed in ACN (against all wise counsel), and now has been railroaded into APC -a worse mutation of the first disease!

In November, umu Omanbala will remind Ngige that we can be selfish too -by voting for someone else who would put us first!
We shall vote Soludo!

Anambra guber: How the candidates ’ll emerge

From the foregoing therefore, it is clear that Ubah does not have a rival in LP.

With the countdown to the November 16 governorship election in Anambra, the state is indeed in another mood. The expectation is high as aspirants from various political parties adorn the streets with posters and billboards.

However, out of the legion of aspirants jostling for Governor Peter Obi’s big shoes, only one will be elected after the hot race.

As the time runs out, all the political parties have put every strategy in place all in the bid to get the better candidate that will fly their parties’ flags ahead of the election.

Daily Sun reports that every party is struggling to win despite the intractable political crises bedeviling them ahead of the election.

While some political analysts argue that there will be primary elections in some of the major political parties like APGA, Labour Party, APC and others, they have remained indifferent to the PDP having a primary election.

From the foregoing, it is clear that most of the parties may settle for consensus candidates.

Parties and how their candidates may emerge

APGA: APGA has been in power since 2006 after Mr. Peter Obi recovered his mandate from PDP administration under Senator Chris Ngige. The party under Mr. Obi then became the first party outside the ruling PDP to capture Anambra State twice.

Since the reign of APGA in Anambra, both PDP, ACN (now APC) and Labour Party, (LP) became opposition political parties in various elections in the state.

Many argue that APGA, having just returned from crises will be going into the election but not without bruises and fighting to retain power at the Awka Government House.

Many believe that the party may not be so disposed to conduct free and fair primary election because of the need to have a strong and better candidate that will face other parties in the election.

Daily Sun gathered that APGA leadership has put some measures in place in the area of picking candidates for the election by systematically trimming down the number of aspirants coming from various places to seek election in the party.

This, they did in order to ensure the party will not have problems of screening the few aspirants in the party as against the interests of so many people aspiring for the plum seat.

As it stands now, many of the aspirants who may have been seen as unserious in the party’s primary election have allegedly been urged to drop their ambitions in the interests of the party.

Daily Sun also gathered that the party leadership had called all the aspirants especially from Anambra North and screened them secretly in order to have marketable ones.

However, with the emergence of the former Central Bank of Nigeria, (CBN) governor, Prof Charles Soludo into APGA, it has automatically altered the political equation of the state. The former CBN governor is one of the strong contenders for the APGA ticket.

There are also other strong aspirants on the platform of APGA like Mrs. Uche Ekwunife, Dr. Chike Obidigbo, Mr. Chinedu Idigo and both former and current Secretaries to the State Government, Chief Paul Odenigbo and Oseloka Obaze respectively.

It is believed that APGA has plan “A” and “B”. The party intends to wait for the emergence of PDP, APC and Labour Party candidates from any of the zones in the state to be able to assess their strengths and weaknesses.

APGA may likely be the last to conduct primary election because they will be waiting for other big political parties to come up with their team first.

If somebody like Senator Emma Anosike from Anambra North emerges the candidate of the PDP, then APGA may need a stronger person as a political antidote to checkmate his strength.

As it is, the ticket will hover between Prof Soludo and Mrs. Ekwunife.

If PDP, APC and Labour parties produce weaker candidates, then Governor Obi will be vindicated on his clamour for power shift to Anambra North. His plan “B” may come to play when the likes of Chief Oseloka Obaze who hails from Anambra North and a close ally of Obi and Dr. Chike Obidigbo of the same zone may emerge. Mr. Chinedu Idigo, a lawyer and younger person out of the aspirants may be considered a deputy to either Ekwunife or Soludo as the case may be in plan “A”.

PDP: Since the party lost grip of Anambra, it has been in trouble and in political limbo. The party at different times had difficulties of winning elections in the state again.

In the history of PDP in Anambra, primary elections have always been characterized by violence and litigations. This year’s primary election for PDP may not be an exception. Already, Daily Sun gathered that a faction allegedly belonging to Chief Chris Ubah’s camp had on Friday, August 3 held their own primary election at the local government and ward levels as against that of the State Working Committee (SWC) led by Chief Ken Emeakayi.

The separate primary election held by Chief Ejike Oguebego-led faction in collaboration with Chief Chris Ubah, (Eselu) showed that the party is not yet together. Many believe there are possibilities that Emeakayi’s faction will soon hold its own primary election at the local government and ward levels for the same local government election.

Unlike APGA, PDP so unfortunately have refused to come together in any election.

Already, the likes of Senators Anosike, Andy Ubah including Dr. Alex Obiogbolu, Obinna Uzoh, Nicholas Ukachukwu, Nze Akachukwu Nwankpo, Dr. Tony Nwoye and former Speaker of Anambra House of Assembly, Mrs. Eucheria Azodo among others have declared their intentions to contest for the race.

Many argue that only a neutral candidate that does not belong to any camp can be acceptable in the case of the PDP.

The calculation is that Senator Andy Ubah can never step down for his political foe, Chief Nicholas Ukachukwu assuming the party decides to settle for a consensus candidate. Likewise, Nicholas Ukachukwu may rather want the PDP not having any candidate at all than allowing Senator Andy Ubah to emerge the flag bearer of the party. Then, Dr. Uzoh and Akachukwu with their alleged connections to the serving President and a former military Head of State are also not on the best pedestals.

After the elimination method likely to be adopted by the PDP’s NWC, the last people that may be standing in the race would be Senator Emma Anosike, Tony Nwoye and Dr. Alex Obiogbolu all from Anambra North senatorial zone.

Senator Anosike and Dr. Obiogbolu, both of Anambra North may likely be the last two with a difficulty of picking an indigene of Onitsha owing to the PDP’s game of minority taking the job while the majority is often not given any chance.

APC: This is a newly registered political party. For the elites, it is a big threat to the PDP at the national level and APGA at the state level. However, to the rural dwellers, APC is not yet known despite parading the likes of Senators Chris Ngige, Annie Okonkwo and Chief Godwin Ezeemo, an international businessman from Umuchu in Aguata council area of Anambra South senatorial zone.

Labour Party: The party came to limelight in 2010 when Senator Andy Ubah went to Labour Party in protest over the controversial emergence of Prof Soludo as PDP Governorship candidate. He built the party from the scratch and gave it strength to be able to actualize his political ambition.

Since then, many people still allege that Senator Uba had been romancing with the party. He was alleged to be maintaining the structures of the party in the state as plan B in case PDP denies him ticket once again.

But suddenly, an oil magnet, the Chairman of Capital Oil and Gas, Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah joined the party. Since his entry into the Labour Party, Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah has breathed life into it once again. LP now has cause to smile again with Ifeanyi Ubah pumping money into it.

The first victim of Dr. Ubah’s entry into Labour Party was the estranged state chairman and leader of the party, Chief Basil Iwuoba who was shown the way out by the party at the state level and was forced to join PPN in pursuant to his political ambition of becoming the next governor.

From the foregoing therefore, it is clear that Ubah does not have a rival in LP.

Soludo has never held any position or represented the people of Anambra state hence Abuja politician.
He has zero political structure and will have to depend on some godfather like Obi
Just like Dora, he has an uphill task.
So, you think Ngige's/APC structures is better than APGA and PDP structures in Anambra state?
You think that Jonathan will allow APC to win Anambra state?
You think that Peter Obi (whom Ngige sat on his mandate for 3 years) will live to see Ngige take over his sweat/savings for the state?
You think that MASSOB will sit by and watch APC win Anambra state?
The truth is that you are just a goofy fellow with zero sense in political reality.

You are making a big miscalculation, but I wouldn't want to convince you about that; why should I? lol
Firstly the people you saw there were villagers not township people. He was going to acquaint with remote parts of the state. He has not picked APGA ticket, remember.
When he does, APGA machinery (supported by the governor of the state) will kick in full steam.
This election will not be won in rallies, and convoys; it will be won the same way Peter Obi defeated Ngige the last time. The governor of the state is very angry at politicians going about in 53 vehicle convoys warming up to enter the state house to steal the state dry.
Ngige has not convinced us enough that he can be trusted with the state coffers. He always puts himself first!
Dora almost defeated Ngige in the senatorial race. This one is tougher for him because he has to win more votes than the two Ubas (Ifeanyi and Andy), and then state-backed APGA candidate.

This time IFEANYI UBA will take Nnewi and parts of Onitsha, leaving only Anambra central areas where Ngige lost to Akunyili.

Your brother Obasanjo sat on our airport project for 8 years. Yar adua came in, made same promises but nothing happened on the ground till he died in office. Jonathan came in, made same promise, and is delivering it already. By next year Ndigbo will be able to fly direct into Enugu airport. Obasanjo had Kema Chikwe (an Igbo lady) as aviation minister, but sat on her. Jonathan has Stella Odua (another Igbo aviation minister) but is allowing her to work and be fair to all including Ndigbo. Your Buhari is one of those who put Ndigbo under in Nigeria and we cannot trust him.

Yes, positions matter (you people have been grudging since GEJ came in because you lament that you do not hold as much positions as you want). All these noise about APC will die tomorrow if he fires all Igbo in government and appoint you people. Even Tinubu will jump at being the oil minister tomorrow and your APC will die a natural death.

PoliticsRe: Okorocha’s Suspension: Umeh’s Only Grandstanding – Okorie by Onlytruth(m): 10:11am On Aug 06, 2013
mikeansy: APGA needs re-organizing no doubt. And some think the reason Ndigbo need APGA or should reject APC is because of tribal reasons. No it is more fundamental than that.

The truth of the matter is the pro-business nature of Ndigbo will mean we will favour a kind of right-of-centre politics that appreciates free market economics, believes in the ability of the individual to shape their own desitiny, encourages enterprenuership/small businesses, keeps taxes low for small business, believes in a smaller Government than a tax and spend big government and also believes in true fedralism.

This is the movement we need to create in the East.

Look at the Nigerian customs prohibition list for example. 80% of those products are not manufactured in Nigeria. There is no clear Government agenda to encourage local manufacturing of those products in Nigeria and yet those who try to import these products and make profit from it meet all sorts of obstacles because they are classed as prohibited goods.
Go to our Sea Ports, you have Customs officers sitting in their corner and feeding fat from the efforts of merchants who their country has already let down but simply try to find a way to survive.
Then you come to within Nigeria various State Governments find it so easy to introduce very harsh policies against traders and their markets in order to introduce one policy or another.

This business of always robbing peter to pay paul in which the way of life of Ndigbo is always under attack has got to be challenged both at NASS and Fedral Executive Council.

This is why more than ever we need a political platform to produce legislators and Governors and ministers who will say to all who care to listen. There is nothing criminal to take a risk and start a business.

In fact we need to create a favourable economic environment in the East, a favourable seaport, airport, energy policy to encourage local manufacturing/merchandise, access to our own oil and energy.

Some things in life are far more important than merely producing the President of Nigeria.

When it comes to Presidential politics, APGA can go into coalition with other favourable parties to elect the President.

Being in a National party just because you want to produce the President has not worked in our 14years of democracy. it is time to try something new and something more serious!
All the bolded has been APGA's strategy and reasons for aligning with PDP.

Abagworo: The way you write sometimes astonishingly lacks basic wisdom. Tell me some of the interests the "killer party" is carrying on behalf of Igbos at national level. Even the Niger-Deltans cannot count much except enrichment of militants(miscreants) and the only positive one which is a university at Otueke. This Government has been there for four years and we are still talking about Niger bridge and East-West Road.
You cannot see because you did not pass common entrance level English comprehension exam.
I also strongly believe that you are a PAID anti-Igbo agent in Nairaland. It is people like you that work for others to bring us down in Nigeria. You lay snares and put out false info, thereby making others to call us GREEDY.

The killer party is currently lined up with Igbo sons and daughters at the very top of government. If you don't see that, please bury your head in shame. The killer party is working hard now to give Igboland DIRECT international air access. The killer party president is trusting Igbo sons/daughters with some of the most sensitive national positions- let me break it down for you: there are certain positions you need to control first in Nigeria before you can ever aspire to get other things in Nigeria. Right now, by 2016, there will be a TRUE census, complete with all relevant data (previously deemed uncollectable in Nigeria because it might favor Ndigbo).
