To further prove my point, just watch. The more Ndigbo pledge their support for Jonathan, the more these types of stories will hit the media. But thank God that our current leaders are smart enough to give the president MAXIMUM SUPPORT. Nigeria is a monster that I have taken time to study well. It is quite easy to gain the upper hand if you understand this game. Just don't make the move your enemy expects. I was so happy to see Peter Obi and his SS counterparts meeting with the North Central today. GOOD MOVE. ![]() |
There was NEVER a competition between Igbo and Ijaw for the VP position in 2007. Peter Odili wasn't even gunning for VP. He was gunning for president. It all began and ended with Obasanjo and some Northern power brokers. Odili was the front runner to succeed Obasanjo until few days to the PDP presidential primary when Obasanjo did a volte-face and chose Yar adua instead. The forces that chose Jonathan for VP position over any other southerner had their own agenda, and Ijaw had NOTHING to do with it, unless if you believe that MEND forced them. Unfortunately for them, their plan is backfiring because Jonathan realizes that he cannot rule Nigeria without solid Igbo backing, and he set out to free himself by firing the army chief and reorganizing the military in ways they never expected. Now they are running around like headless chicken. This story is part of a desperate scheme to incite the Igbo against their minority neighbors. Make no mistake about it, the main "boogieman" in Nigeria is the Igbo. NEVER FORGET THAT. ![]() I will repeat it again: There is no competition between Ndigbo and any of the minority groups in Eastern and southern Nigeria. NONE WHATSOEVER. |
Posted by: Abagworo I was just referring us to the point where Igbo lost relevance in Nigerian politics. The Edwin Clarke vs Odili feud was the political defeat of Igbo by Ijaw.Odili would have emerged Yar'Adua's VP and would have been our serving President. This statement is wrong on several fronts. Frankly, you don't sound Igbo these days. ![]() There was NEVER a competition between Igbo and Ijaw for the VP position in 2007. Peter Odili wasn't even gunning for VP. He was gunning for president. The president's own tribesmen are up in arms and some fools are here mourning "Igbo loss of power to Ijaw" SMH! |
MEND threatens to level oil industry •They dare not –JTF By UCHE USIM Sunday, January 30, 2011 The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) has threatened to destroy the oil industry in protest against the appointment of Mr. Kingsley Kuku as Special Adviser, Niger Delta Affairs, by President Goodluck Jonathan. The group in a statement yesterday did not, however, give any reasons for its opposition to Kuku’s appointment. Kuku, who was named presidential adviser on Wednesday along with three others, replaced Mr. Timi Alaibe, who resigned his appointment to pursue his governorship ambition on the platform of the Labour Party (LP) in Jonathan’s home state – Bayelsa. Kuku, 40, an Ijaw from Ondo State, was a member of the Ondo State House of Assembly and until his appointment was a member of the Federal Government’s Amnesty Committee. MEND warned that its threat should not be taken lightly and urged oil workers not to be deceived by safety assurances from the government as it has demonstrated several its capability to strike anywhere at any time. According to MEND, it will attack land-based offices of oil companies, oil rigs and storage facilities. However, the Joint Task Force (JTF) on Niger Delta has expressed surprise at MEND’s new threat. Its spokesman, Col. Timothy Antigha, in a telephone interview with Sunday Sun, said the agency did not expect MEND to carry out its threat since its members have access to the President and could have taken their grievances to him. His words: “I don’t think that is the way to go. I know they are now mature and won’t go the way of violence again. They won’t follow the old order of recklessness and irresponsibility.” The statement reads: “The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) views with scum the appointment of a new presidential adviser on the Niger Delta. “The continuous deception of the Nigerian government and international communities of a promise of peace without justice in the Niger Delta is simply a ploy by Goodluck Jonathan to secure the Presidency of Nigeria and continue the plundering of the Niger Delta. “As we have persistently promised, we will shortly embark on an all-out assault on the Nigerian oil industry, bringing upon this industry such mayhem unprecedented in the history of our quest for justice. “In this new chapter, nothing will be spared, from land-based offices to oil platforms and storage facilities. We will bring all these to ground level. “Due to the severity of this onslaught against the oil industry and our desire to prevent loss of lives, the opening attack as promised will be preceded by a warning with guidelines to all oil workers concerning their conduct in the event of an attack. “We warn the oil industry to disregard all attempts by the Nigerian government to mislead it as our previous attacks in the past have proved that the Nigerian government cannot protect them. The fight for the liberation of the Niger Delta has only begun and will not cease until we have reclaimed every inch of land stolen by the western oil companies in collaboration with puppets such as Goodluck Jonathan and other dubious so-called elders of the Niger Delta.” http://www.sunnewsonline.com/webpages/news/national/2011/jan/30/national-30-01-2011-001.htm |
Posted by: EzeUche_ If only this was true. But even the Ijaw have this false bravado now that one of their own is in the top spot.I think you need to take a chill pill and relax. If you believe that Ijaw can replace Ndigbo in anything in Nigeria, then you really need to take some time off nairaland. Ijaw is not our problem. Not by a long shot. ![]() Secondly, I strongly doubt that ALL Igbo leaders, even down to Ojukwu could be "bought off" by Jonathan. It ain't that way. No one can pocket a nation of 35- 40 million restless Igbo. If we support GEJ, there must be a solid reason. |
Posted by: jason123 You and your suspicions sha!My suspicion is spot on. Why are there people from the west and north who are shouting about Ijaw replacing the Igbo at the central politics? Can a tribe of 8 million replace a tribe of 35 -40 million? NO. So why are people developing headache over this? We are fine with JONATHAN and his Ijaw minority ruling Nigeria! They are Nigerians, are they not? Must Ndigbo lose the presidency because an Ijaw is there? What happened when the North and Yoruba were there? Did they give it to us? You guys must think that we don't see your maneuvers. ![]() |
Posted by: EzeUche_ Another slap in the face. We Igbos have fallen. A proud people being forced to beg. It is too much for me to stomach. And some of my brothers and sisters are acting like nothing is wrong. Forget smelling smoke, our house is on fire. The most important thing to note is that Jonathan is not representing the Ijaw. If he were, MEND would not be threatening to resume bombing of oil installations. I really think that for the first time in a very loooooooooooong time, Ndigbo are actually doing first things first. I am deeply suspicious of all these non-Igbos who write these articles as if the world would end if an Ijaw or any other Eastern minority operates at the center of NO THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT AND WE LOSE NOTHING. These same people would wear masks and accuse us of dominating the Eastern minorities and always recite Eyo Ita issue. Now they are crying that Ijaws are "ahead of Igbo" in national politics. Only a fool would believe that. ![]() But even if so, why is it any of their business? Could they love us more than we love ourselves? Definitely not. I would even want Ndigbo to wait until whenever Jonathan leaves office before attempting the presidency again. Nigeria is not ending tomorrow, and even if it does, we will still have our Eastern brothers to live with. Enuff said. |
Posted by: alex101 Thank God you see what I am seeing, this is what I'm trying to relate to mazi Ezeuche, in that it is not religious, but rather ethnic. Ndigbo are not the only group with christians in them, our freinds of the sw have a subtantial christian population in them, so they too should be concerned. For, me I like the idea of our people acting in self defence and not taking side(s). Anybody who will blame Ndigbo for not siding with their "christian brothers" ( I sense a trap) should be reminded of western regional crises and the subsequent good intention of the 5 majors, which was then turned into an "Igbo agenda".Thank you alex101, I credit you with sounding the first warning on this. Thank you again! Our people need constant reminder of how things are in Nigeria. We are seen as naive, and aggressive, and so cannot be involved in any of these northern inter-tribal feuds. I say we stay clear of that completely. |
I strongly suspect that this violence is part of a plot to destabilize Nigeria and create a pretext for the military to step in. But the Nigeria of today is markedly different from the one of the 70s and 80s. Such an action can lead to series of precipitous events which no one can control. In such a scenario, our people (as the most itinerant Nigerian group) will be caught in the middle, without any plans of containment or response to the situation. I would feel better if I see some movements in Eastern Nigeria, and hearing statements issued by our leaders to reassure our people. Since none of that has come so far, it is wise to relocate to the East, until Jos calms down You are not the target -YET. So move. |
To Igbos and our Eastern Nigerian brothers in Jos. The message is very simple: STAY AWAY FROM ANY FIGHTING THAT DOES NOT TARGET YOU. Only fight in self defense IF NECESSARY. The conflict is ethnic. IT IS NOT RELIGIOUS. So don't join any "fellow Christian" in fighting. ![]() I say this because Nigeria's tribal and regional conflicts have a way of ending up being our problem. I would even prefer you relocate to Eastern Nigeria until all the fighting ends. You cannot conduct whatever business you are involved in until the fighting ends anyway; so what are you still there for? ![]() What is happening in Jos is spiritual, and you would be putting yourselves in great danger by remaining there until this blows over. To Eastern Nigerian Governors I hope you are following the development closely and really thinking about how to organize our peoples in case this becomes a major conflict. The history of 1966 is replete with lack of preparation on the part of Eastern Nigerian leadership, and this went ahead to prove quite disastrous in the war that followed. This crisis is gradually assuming a dimension of war. I hate unpreparedness in war! Agha akara aka adighi eri ngworo! He who fails to plan, plans to fail. I am saying this because the current president of Nigeria is an Easterner (that is how the north sees him ) and this violence may be the handiwork of Northern elements (who had set off series of bombs earlier) who are uncomfortable with that fact. Hence, 1966 comes readily to mind. I have not seen you meeting and strategizing. You are busy eying re-elections and election. In all you are doing, NEVER FORGET THE LESSON OF 1966!. And it is not yet too late to plan our survival in case this explodes into a major national conflict. Thank you all! |
Posted by: Akanbi_edu Stop preaching to these people, a lot of them had their mind made up. Allow the generalization to continue so that they can box themselves into a corner.Let me help you understand some things. I believe that the main job of the COAS is to protect or defend the state (not even the government) against enemies. In Nigeria, it is more like ensuring that there is no coup. If the COAS does that, his job is complete. ![]() The army is not the police or the other security agencies whose job it is to keep law and order. Gen Dambazau did not resign until Yar adua died because of this same reason. Gen Ihejirika is not going anywhere because the life of the president, and the entire Nigerian state is in his hands. Gerrit now? As for death of innocent folks in the middle belt, it is easy to see why it is happening. Nigeria's history is pretty young. Nemesis is a b&tch. But as a Christian, I would forgive them if they (as fellow Christians) ask us for forgiveness. I would not offer forgiveness to anyone who does not ask, because the person would mistake it for weakness and foolishness. So the bloodbath continues. As for your fears about a southern Nigeria where Muslims (like yourself) would be in the minority (hence your preference for the status quo), well, that is part of why Easterners may not want it either , because we may not want to continue having sizable number of Muslims in our new country. For that to happen, they must gradually convert to Christianity or revert back to African religion. Both religions understand the sanctity of the human life. There is something brutal and "Hobessian" about Islam. There you have it. |
@ EzeUche_ The ultimate truth is that Igboland needs some form of self cleansing- a cultural revolution of sorts. We have been represented for too long by thieves and selfish people. There are too many thieves trying to destroy our destiny as a great people, that is why God is raising others like Akunyili to step in. Chris Ngige is a man I used to admire, until he joined ACN and refused to come out of it. As far as I know, he is finished politically in Anambra state. ![]() Sullivan Chime was actually talking to ACN before sanity returned to his head, making me wonder whether these leaders ever consider the group interest of Ndigbo in their actions. Any Igbo politician who cannot see that APGA is our only hope to relevance in Nigeria is a selfish m0derfcker. I can't wait for Okorocha to beat Ohakim in Imo guber polls. If any Igbo don't like something about APGA, he/she should come and fix it. |
Let me leave for now by saying the following to help educate my Igbo brothers about Yoruba mindset which should help us in the future if necessary. Lesson 1: In a conflict, Yoruba lack conscience, and they can do ANYTHING to win over the Igbo. So bear that in mind. If you tell a Yoruba to sleep with his mother as part of a "juju ritual" that will give him victory over the Igbo, he would do it. Igbo would not, even if he would lose the war because of it. MAJOR difference. So, never forget that. Lesson 2: Yoruba, though weak and cowardly, can stay a course of action for a long time. If you doubt me, look at Akintola Williams accounting firm and find out how long it has been there. Same with Rotimi Williams law firm. Igbo are more of the "100 meter dash" type, so we need to bear that in mind. We will likely gain the upper hand over them fast in a war, but we need to sustain it over a long time. There are MANY more lessons about them which I can NEVER discuss here. Bye for now. Signing off, Onlytruth. ![]() |
Posted by: EzeUche_ These Yorubas have some nerve! GrinI'm laughing at them because they think that only they have the capability to "loose their souls" to gain the upper hand. The thing is this, they have not been able to think past 1967 -70 Nigerian victory over Biafra. That mindset will prove their undoing in any future war. |
Posted by: eku_bear If Nigeria partitions and there is warfare between Yorubaland and Igboland, the main thing I care about is getting access to international credit. If I have international credit and Igboland does not, then I win (assuming halfwar competent military commanders).I can see you like amusing yourself. Who told you that Igboland cannot get international credit? You forget that two Igbos are in the world bank and Igbos are scattered throughout the world more than Yorubas. Few Igbo can even sponsor the entire war. Our problem is not even money, but the conviction. If Nigeria ever push us to that level where we become convinced that there is no other way out than war, you will see a round two. Completely different from the one you cannot see past. |
Posted by: eku_bear @OnlyTruth: With all due respect, if it just people who think the same way you do leading, then I would not be very concerned. If your leadership wereEziachi Yes! abagworo NO! You guys think you are clever. You do the same thing all the time. You lionize weak and clueless Igbos with the hope that they end up leading us. Eziachi is a Biafra war vet so yes he can!, but abagworo is the Orji Kalu type that believe in serving other Nigerians to gain acceptance. So, he would likely sell us out to gain local power. Dude as for me, let's just say that NONE of you guys know or can understand me. THANK GOD. All I pray is that someone like me will be in the room of strategic planners when the time comes. If anyone like myself was near the top leadership of Biafra, firstly, that war would not have ended the way it did, and all parts of Nigeria would have seen the war. Secondly, Nigeria would not have won. There is no room in my own plans for failure. NONE WHATSOEVER. If we cannot deliver on that, we would not fight, no matter the level of provocation. |
Posted by: eku_bear Fair enough. But as I said, do not complain if the outcome doesn't go your way. It is reasonable to guess that the penalty for defeat this time will be much, much harsher. You would be meeting my type in that battle, and I sure you that it will be diametrically opposite of the first one. You don't have to take my words for it, believe me. We made a strategic mistake in the first one. Every move my people have made so far in recent years (especially as it relates to Jonathan and our eastern brothers) show me that we have learned our lesson. I don't think your people have been tested yet. So, you have nothing to measure against. We do -43 years of slavery. |
@EzeUche Just ignore that mentally derailed Itshekiri. He is diagnosing himself on nairaland. He does not tell us that his psychiatrist refereed him to that site. |
So @ topic, Dora Akunyili is spot on, though I don't think that Senate presidency is what we need really. The way I see it, Goodluck Jonathan is from Eastern Nigeria, and no matter what people may say, that is the fact. I however would hope that something like Speaker of the house should be in play. But I believe PDP members in SE should handle it. Dora is only trying to rally Ndigbo into APGA. Supported by moi. ![]() |
Posted by: jason123 FLATTER ME! - You want to always hear others complimenting how you look, how you did on that article, what you did great or what have you. Because you are so desperate, there are some instances that if nobody praises you, you'll start telling people what you did so you'd get nice compliments. Or you will start asking people, "Do you think I did great?", "Do I look good tonight?" , so you'd get complimented. (What if the person you asked said otherwise? Well, that wil make your self esteem way way low)Another reason why I say you have mental problems. What do you know about me? Please tell. Have you EVER seen my picture, or email address, or even my age on my profile? Apart from my hometown Nnewi which I volunteered for political reasons, what else do you know about me? And I am supposed to be currying admiration and commendation. Does it occur to you that I am an individual who believe that the message is greater than the messenger? Dude, see a psychologist FAST. Free advice. |
Posted by: jason123 I was not referring to igbos but I was referring to you. You need a psychiatrists because you on the second level of inferiority complex. Can you see that you have inferiority complex? Undecided. You need urgent medical attention! You see things in opposites! That is why you don't see that I cannot even accept you to be my gateman. ![]() So tell me, who needs a psychologist? |
Posted by: Ileke-IdI The same reason your people create Yoruba related threads. You never see me and most top Igbo commentators on those threads. They are re-tarded. I am busy mehn. |
@jason123 You see why I say you must be deluded! Frankly, all those attributes fits you and your Yoruba groups here. If not, why are you guys always in Igbo related threads? How many Igbo do you find in Yoruba threads? Igbo are at peace with themselves, mainly because of cultural and religious reasons. We have stable families (non-polygamous and sound), and really love our way of life. They is why we beat any other group whenever the competition is OPEN like in sports, not boardroom wuru wurus. |
And like I said before, anybody who starts a Yoruba/Igbo conflict in Lagos really hates the Yoruba because it can lead to Yoruba losing whatever advantage they currently enjoy in Nigeria. The Igbo have a pent up anger against them waiting to be unleashed. To those asking that Igbos should start trouble in Lagos; which part of Nigeria have Igbos started any trouble? It has always been people using frivolous excuses to start attacking Igbos, example a cartoon in Denmark. Igbo never start trouble, but don't start one against us. And these days, don't even try! |
Here is the way I see it. Yoruba's don't like anybody but themselves. They even hate Igbo. Hausas hate Igbo because we don't bend over for them to screw from behind like Yoruba does. In fact only Igbo stand between them and total Islamization of Nigeria -dipping Koran in the sea. Anybody trying to win the Yoruba in bragging and talking is wasting his time. Igbo live and thrive in Lagos because of the indomitable Igbo spirit. Yoruba has NOTHING to do with it. |
Look all I am saying is that Yorubas are not capable of sustaining an ALL OUT conflict with Igbo in Lagos. They just can't! They have fear factor. That's all. |
Posted by: dayokanu Whats the ratio of Yorubas to Igbos in Lagos. Never mind thos that would come in from Ogun and Ibadan in a twinkling of an eyeYou think only numbers decides a war or conflict abi? I wonder why Israel still exists inspite of millions of arabs surrounding it. Igbo in Kano stand their grounds and fight against the entire groups there, and you think your people have seen that type of conflict? Anyway, you can believe whatever you want. ![]() |
Lagos and northern Nigeria is like apples and oranges. Anyone starting trouble there does not like the Yoruba. Simple. |
Posted by: fstranger1 ^^^^I don't know what you are smoking, but the Yoruba have never dared start Kano-like or Kaduna-like or any other northern Nigerian-like pogrom against the Igbo. If you dare it, then we will chase you into Benin republic. ![]() |
Posted by: alj harem as my fulani friends alway say "igbos are the most annoying nigerians, they piss everyone off and they also lie a lot"Posted by: alj harem but that is the truth brotherI have one question for you mister desert rat. Why do you like claiming to be Igbo? Why do you kiss Igbo a55 all over nairaland since you hate them so much? Do you think that Igbos stay in Lagos out of anyone's generosity? Dude, do you have a goat brain? Why can't you think for once in your life? Whatever Igbo have today in any part of Nigeria was obtained through sheer hardwork and toughness of spirit. I am happy about your comment above because they capture your true mind. But, get one thing clear. The genocide of the past years on the Igbo by your Kanuri and Hausa/fulani groups will catch up with you one day. You people have never really fought a war, I keep saying this. And you are the weakest Nigerians. You corner the military and use it to commit war crimes and other crimes against humanity on UNARMED civilians of Igbo and Ijaw and other eastern Nigerian stock, and beat your chest about it. Why have your people in Igboland or eastern Nigeria not tried to cause trouble there, since you are so tough? You can't even defeat the tiny Berom without using the Nigerian army. Just leave us alone and mind your miserable lives. You are at war in your zone, while Ndigbo are at peace in eastern Nigeria. Finish your war first before coming to us. As for Lagos, NOBODY dares start trouble against us there. enuff said. |
@Jah Man Your experiences narrated here captures the whole truth about corporate Nigeria and Yoruba tribalism. I cannot say this enough, I am yet to meet a group in Africa that rival the Yoruba in tribalism. Quote me anyday! Mind you that these companies are mainly either parastatals or public companies which were shared immediately after the civil war by Awolowo. None of them was formed by the Yoruba. They are Nigerian companies formed in conjunction with multinationals. Yet they have been effectively stolen and seized by these people. I and many of my non-Yoruba friends passed through the same unparalleled level of tribalism from Yoruba's seating on strategic positions in corporate Nigeria. It is a known fact in Nigeria; and to me, one of the PRIME reasons why a southern Nigeria can never be possible, because I cannot envisage the Yoruba weaning themselves off that type of tribalism. Somehow they believe within themselves that in a fair competition, the Igbo would beat them. So, they resort to cheating and "parapoism". Painful truth. That is why I laugh anytime I see Becomrich adding Edo, Delta and Bayelsa to his Benin republic, as if those groups enjoy slavery and discrimination. ![]() |
