PoliticsRe: Why I Dumped Jonathan For IBB, By Dokpesi (Zoning) by Onlytruth(m): 11:55pm On Sep 14, 2010
Ibime:
Gadogado can type all he likes. Niger Delta has never been under attack from external forces so I don't know why he keeps talking about Nigerian Army protecting borders. The only people who attack the Niger Delta are the Nigerian Army, from the obliteration of Ogoni lands to Odi.
I may not agree with some of gadogado's points, but the one he keeps making about Nigerian military defending the whole country should not be dismissed offhand. I know, for instance, that under IBB and Abacha, the Nigerian military defended Bakassi and kept Camerounian gendarmes at bay. They staunchly defended Nigeria and made Nigerians proud. I know I was far more proud as a Nigerian under IBB and Abacha than under Obasanjo. Guess who handed Bakassi to Cameroun? It was a south westerner called Obasanjo, not a northerner.  undecided

Or is Bakassi not part of the so called Niger delta? huh
If the Nigerian military is defending Nigerian territories against invaders like they did in Bakassi, how can any Nigerian deny what they did?

Politics is making Nigerians delusional these days. Truth must be told always no matter whose ox is gored.
If the so called Niger delta doesn't like the idea of sharing the oil money, the people there should try to secede.
If a northern soldier can die to defend the oil fields, how dare you question their claims to equal ownership of the oil.
Justice should be done even if heavens fall!  cool
PoliticsRe: Who Has More Money In Nigeria : A Senate President Or A Governor by Onlytruth(m): 11:41am On Sep 14, 2010
Senate president. cool cool

A governor gets to account sometimes. A senate president never accounts to anybody. The EFCC is focused on the governors (not that it stops them, but it keeps them on heat undecided), nobody looks the direction of the national assembly.

chika98:
These are the realities in life and should be expected. The same way a woman should be expected to
gain some weight after having children . . that is the same way a man will do things that will annoy you as well.
These are non-issues and like I said before( who cares about tweezing et all?). . Marrying from the same tribe doesn't guarantee a successful marriage
and those that have married from other tribes aren't all going through hell by their in laws. Some families are nice and accepting( This is key in any tribe)
Basically it is all a matter of choice and we all tend to think some things are taken care of because you married your own? Lai Lai!
We are Nigerians need to be a bit more open minded about a whole lot of things . . Till will do . . It is foolery to ever say One Nigeria
because that in itself doesn't exist.

Good for you.
From your post I assume you are a man, and I suspect you have already committed yourself to something contrary to popular wisdom here. undecided
As an Igboman, believe me, I know there are one million reasons why an Igbo man/woman may be desperate to marry from another tribe. When it comes to marriage, Igbos are VERY SERIOUS about it.

They would dig up the last information about your family (up to tenth generation if need be undecided) before they give you their daughter in marriage or allow their son to marry you. They will dig and dig and dig . . . unless of course your family is clean.
That is just one reason. There are others. So in that sense, it is VERY CONVENIENT to marry from another tribe. Just don't come here telling us that tribe doesn't matter in Nigeria.

I had to do this strong rebuttal because some innocent kid might actually take your advise and end up regretting his/her life later. The two women above gave very wise reasons why this is a BAD idea. So, please let it be.  cool

Beaf:
That is the wise thing (and the only choice) for any minority that has not been given any guarantees by the two gladiating behemoths, don't you think? To both sides, we were mere puns and so we behaved in a way that we weren't labelled and wiped out. The case for the Efiks, Ibibios and some Ijaws is very different, they were always in the Eastern region; the Isoko, Itsekiri, Urhobo and Western Ijaw were all in the Midwest region.

I don't know what you mean by voting with the North, Festus Okotie Eboh was in Ziks party, NCNC. The founding fathers of the Midwest region were Dennis Osadebay (NCNC), Jereton Marierie (NCNC), and James Otobo (AGN). Of course, we started out in alliance with the East with whom we share long borders and were against the West, because Awo's policies were percieved as divisive and the West did not initially support an autonomous Midwest.

The schism with NCNC in the region was created after Osadebay was foisted over Omo Osagie (Edo) and Jereton Marierie (Urhobo); this move particularly upset the Edo, because as early as 1952, Oba Akenzua had already personally taken on the fight for the creation of the MidWest region. You need to look into that to satisfy your question, but we don't hold tightly to the past; politics like life, is a fluid game, sometimes we agree, at other times we don't. Should we be enemies pointing fingers generations later? I think not.
You know what Beaf, sometimes I wish there is a repeat of a Biafra like scenario again in Nigeria so that people will pick sides once again. Not that I expect any difference undecided, but I suspect that the 1967 issue wasn't properly consummated. There was too much ignorance and suspicion then. A lot that happened didn't make sense.
I suspect that a repeat would likely enjoy some fundamental differences.

I laugh at all these Yoruba folks who are suffering heart burn over Igbo man's electoral choices and preferred options.
Pray, when did we ever tell these Yoruba folks who to vote for in the past? huh I'm truly baffled by this level of hubris! shocked

I will vote for whoever ensures that Ndigbo feel like Nigerians once again by giving us our due in Nigeria. I really feel that Ndigbo must exhaust all options to produce a Nigerian president in 2015. If all of the efforts fail, then, we must seriously deploy our natural talents to quickly dismantle Nigeria. It would be 45 years since after the war by then. If we commit fully to it, we can bring Nigeria down in under 5 years.  cool

excanny:
An Igbo man always protects his woman with everything. If you find an Igbo couple with a new child, it's very common to see the man carrying the baby for his wife. How about that?
That is the point I've been trying to make but I don't think tpiah understood me.

Of course men wander in relationships more than women, but my point is that I have met many non-Igbo women who never date other tribes after dating Igbo men. Even Akatas in particular who dated Igbo men before will ask your tribe before she decides to date you.

The problem of deciding who to back in this election is becoming harder by the day for Ndigbo.

I just read that Bukola Saraki is being primed by some northern interests to be the consensus northern candidate. If that information proves true, then Ndigbo must do more critical thinking and bargaining before taking a stand.

I know how the north operates: they are politically "unscrupulous".
Bukola Saraki may be a northerner with some Fulani blood, but, he also has Yoruba blood!  undecided
So, if the north is willing to field a half Yoruba man to fly the northern banner, not minding that another Yoruba man just finished an 8 year term, why shouldn't the Igbo support an easterner who may well have some Igbo lineage by virtue of his Ekpeye tribe being half Igbo? undecided huh

My lesson from Nigerian political history is never to rule out any assets you may have in your war chest, even the devil himself; cos frankly, others are much more willing to do the same!

So, brothers, we have some calculation to do. I am not privy to Jonathan's inner mindset and team. I am throwing this out for the consumption of those Igbo who might be.

Dont worry be happy!
I'm laughing at you because you think your client can toy with Nigeria. He is walking a very dangerous path.
The last thing he can pull off in Nigeria now is a brazen rigging exercise. He may be supported by Obasanjo, but he is NOT Obasanjo. A word is enough for the wise.  undecided cool

They will not only deliver anything but everything including your vote. Dont waste your time your Gov has already caste your vote 4 u. We are just fulfilling all righteousness by going into primaries and general elction for mere formality.
Look, if you are planning to rig elections, simply say so. Don't come here trying to tell me that governors will deliver votes they don't have.

See over cockyness  grin grin grin grin
Hehehe OnlyTruth  shocked shocked
The thing about Igbo men is that they have sweet tongue, they'll sweet mouth you eh, you'll begin to doubt them. I've noticed that. But flattery gets you nowhere.
grin
On a serious note, it is more than sweet tongue. I think the first thing is that an Igbo man would treat you like his own sister first. He will protect and defend your interests. He would see you as vulnerable and needing his care and protection. If he is rich, the better. If he is poor, he would die trying to earn a living to ensure his family is fine.

I think those attributes raises a woman's natural female instincts, and keeps her attracted to him. I don't wanna add his work rate in bed.  lipsrsealed grin

It is on record IBB reminded us recently that him and a few other power brokers from the North facilitated OBJ's release from prison and invariably endorsing him for the Presidency due to the hearthache and pains the Yoruba nation had towards the North due to the Abiola anullment of 1993.

I hapless and dumb-founded to know IBB is a Yoruba man going by your quotation above. OBJ's endorsement had the blessing of at least 5 Geo-Political ZOnes.
And the endorsements fell from the sky right?
Ol' boy you people think you are clever but you are really dumb.
Let me tell you, Igbo will produce the president or you will not have Nigeria alone to continue cheating us in it.
Get ready for Oduduwa republic, by fire by force!
