PointB: We are on the same page here my brother.Yes I agree! In fact I've decided to throw my support again behind GEJ for 2015 elections. He must be doing something right for folks to be this desperate to undermine his powerbase. So, for now GEJ it is for me! |
Negro_Ntns: calm down....Honestly, I'm only talking as someone not in the army. If I were in the army, I would be doing much much much more than promoting people I trust to defend me and my boss. Our history in Nigeria is a very powerful one. Every Igbo should start thinking of pulling an automatic rifle if he suspects that a dagger is coming out; and he should start planning to launch a nuke if he suspects that a bomb may be coming out. No other tribe have died like Igbo in Nigeria. Only a big fool would forget his past. |
chukkynwob: The fact is that Nigeria sucks... I am Igbo. Flooding the Nigerian army with Ibo men will not change anything,it will not foster respect for human rights or respect for civilians which the army obviously lacks. In Nigeria all state governors, originate from their states. If ethnicity is what would have advanced us, don't you all think our state governors should be competing amongst themselves,as to who delivers good governance the most.I have given up and I pray this country gets better, its painful to see this great nation languish like this. GIVE PROMOTION TO WHOM ITS DUE...one Nigeria is our only hope of survivalPlease stop there because you do not understand how the army (or the military for that matter) works. LOYALTY is the MAIN force behind the command structure. In sane countries every soldier is loyal to the nation and the constitution. In Nigeria, that is not the case. If you doubt me, then, you missed everything behind the OPs rants. If we are all Nigerians and loyal to the constitution, what does it matter who is promoted and who is not, provided the nation is defended well in wars? In Nigerian military, you are mainly loyal to the man who promoted you, be he of your tribe or not. Methiks that Ihejirika is only promoting to protect his rear and that of his boss the President. Some of you should just comment and go without stating first that you are Igbo. I don't know what you gain by dragging the rest of us into your ignorant comment. |
Where is our new Eze Ndigbo sef?! ![]() This is when and where we need his opinion leadership. I will write him a private mail to this effect. An opportunity to put the records straight is being missed here. @PointB I hope you share my views on this. |
As a very good student of Nigeria's first coup in January 1966, and the subsequent civil war, I would advise Ihejirika and ALL Igbo and Eastern elements in the Nigerian army to not take this seeming joke for nothing. It was a HUGE mistake in 1966/67; it would be a bigger mistake even today. They are soldiers, so I should not tell them how to protect themselves. All I can do is to point out the ever present MAJOR PROBLEM of Igbo people, which is to assume that others are not plotting genocide and maximum evil against them, only to wake up when all the horses have long left the barn. The forces behind this bad press are the same forces bitter about Jonathan's presidency, and the same forces ranting constantly in the press about a certain "retardeen, Jonathan, (plug in the rest of the names). . " presidency. Their allies are also the ones behind "Boko haram". They have tried all sorts of lies and threats, and none of them worked because the president has a trusted ally in the COAS. They are getting more and more desperate about 2015. For me (my only concern) is that history MUST NEVER REPEAT itself again. If the COAS even as much as feels threatened or outnumbered by the "recruits" in the army, I suggest he first guards himself with only trust IGBO officers . He must not repeat the Ironsi mistake. We cannot be slaves in our own country. Nuff said. |
KingOfThisnDat: LMAOOOOOOO You already lost before the referee blew the whistle to start the game. You will put forward a "dummy" candidate before the "Real" one in the same nation where even if Obama was Igbo certain people will still want GEJ to be President before him just because of his tribe?!Someone more like you has responded to you appropriately. Every goat wants to draw my attention. |
PointB: My friend sharrap there. You people are fond of repeating this idiotic comments even when it has been severally discounted. Roll out the list of massive looters in Nigeria and show us the number of Igbos in it. As for the disunity, point out any ethnic group that is united in Nigeria. Don't tell me the north, cos there in nothing united among them. Not even the Yorubas. Some of the so-called unity are those united in stealing ND oil. If that is what unity is all about, the count us out.The same point I made and my comment was "hidden". Nairaland is becoming a circus for people with low IQ. I wonder which of the Mods hid my comment, though something tells me it was not OAM4J. |
ocelot2006: OK "Rambo", I suggest you shut the hell up and go focus on your video games. You talk about genocide like one tough dude, but I seriously doubt you can even kill a Christmas chicken. So shut it kiddo.Man I thought he is writing from YOUR usual ![]() If you doubt me, substitute "Igbo" or "Biafra" to all the places he mentioned "Niger Delta" and you would see the clearer picture. This is what you get when you fail to understand that a support for mass murder on the other guy is actually an indirect support for mass murder on YOURSELF. ![]() |
PointB: The only thing that is permanent in politics is interest! You and I share similar mindset in these things. There is nothing to add. |
What I really expect Ohanaeze to be doing at this stage is to single out one to three presidential materials from the SE and start selling them across Nigeria. Time for talk is long past. If I were involved in Ohanaeze, that is what I would be doing, though it may not be in one fell swoop step. I may start by putting out dummies first and watch as hawks tear them down; then I would initialize my COUNTER REACTION to neutralize the hawks, before fielding the REAL candidates. ![]() Nigeria is a jungle, and only jungle tactics work. Our history clearly says so. So, let the games begin. One thing I know is that if Igbo are staunchly in support of one candidate, that candidate is a hair distance from Nigeria's presidency. Nigerian current demographic spread favors us in unique ways. I hope Ohanaeze understands this, and not come out begging anybody. We can squeez balls. ![]() |
I think that the most important point any Igbo person should bear in mind has been reiterated here by two posters (Malawian and pazienza ) and it is that WE MUST NEVER VOTE FOR ANY PERSON WHO WOULD STAND IN OUR WAY OF PROGRESS (Y'know blocking our entitlements and fair share in Nigeria). VERY IMPORTANT! |
pazienza: Yorubas were never part of southern nigeria, they were a liability, the british yolked us with, one which we must free ourselves from.I think we should stay with them in Nigeria, but make sure that they never rule. |
pazienza: Biko park one side, which one be credible leader. If you believe an Igboman is going to vote for an hausa/yoruba man, ahead of an easterner, then you must be high on kunu.Nigeria is a tribalist country, every nigerian is a tribalist, failure to regonize that by Ironsi is what brought us to where we are today, stop being naive. GEJ might not give us all we want, but he won't stand on our way of getting whatever we want, can we say the same of the two civil war bed fellows.THE MAIN POINT. ![]() |
BTW I have always believed that Yoruba did not vote for Jonathan in 2011. Much of Jonathans vote in SW came from SS/SE/MB people living in SW. Most Yorubas sat home and didn't vote in presidential election in that year. That explains the low vote count from SW in presidential elections of 2011. |
Malawian: yoruba is said to be one of the 7 bastard sons of a certain bayagida or something, they are northerners imho. i dont like seeing them claiming south at all.It may be true, else I don't know how they could be this persistent in their support of Northern rule. They often put up this lie that "we are all Nigerians" to defend their open and relentless support for even FULANI elements whose legacy in Nigeria has been mainly bloodshed and tyrany. I personally believe that it is possible for power to remain in MB/SE/SS for a very long time, at least until religious extremists are totally defeated in the North. |
Malawian: we need to re orient the geography of this country. yaribaland is contiguous to aboki land. the middle belt is contiguous to south east and south south. i dont like hearing yaribaland labelled as south anything.I totally agree again. The tenacity with which some Yoruba folks defend Fulani rule is mind boggling. A foreigner would even mistake Yoruba for one of the Northern tribes; honestly! |
Malawian: eziachi and wadeoye should get a room! like i said, no need for long stories. igbos dont really care about the presidency, we care more about someone who will not stand in our way of progress. yoruba and hausa fulani can do nothing but stand in our way. was it not obasanjo that rather than name anambra an oil producing state, openned his gworo mouth to declare the oil "as part of the nation's strategic reserve"? did he put a penny of fg money to prospect for it? how much have they spent looking for oil in the north? was it not obasanjo that nearly ran ibeto out of business? ran orji kalus airline out of nigeria, ran nwobodos bank out of existence, the list is on and on. we will not allow such to happen again. power will rotate between the SS, SE, MB till further notice. we have the spread and population to see to that. you annoying yaribas that will rather have the fulani retain power if it is not comming to you guys can go suck on an abunnam. make una no vex me for here o. heeemmmMy brother I totally agree. |
Demdem: it still doesnt change anything. even with the full support of Igbos, the retardeen will still be booted out.I wouldn't be so sure about that. |
I guess this is probably confirming what I sensed when I was home during Christmas season. I sensed that something is happening in Anambra state but I couldn't put my fingers on the exact thing. All I know is that I witnessed a totally different Igwe Orizu III ofala festival, such as I had never seen before. I personally estimated about thousands of DIGNATORIES (from all over Nigeria), and performers (drummers, masquerades, dancers, and other forms of performers) all looking well fed and fresh for people living in so called third world setting and "village" Nnewi Anambra state. Heck even the cars are all looking new! lol. So, something is happening in Anambra state, and I won't fight anyone who credits Peter Obi with some of that, afterall he is the incumbent governor. I know that Anambra people can survive and thrive even in the worst of circumstances, but I also know that a bad governor would take a MAJOR TOLL on the peoples' well being. My hunch is that one of these days, Anambra will "explode" in development. Just a hunch. |
Can any Nigerian tell me specifically what EACH of Nigeria's founding fathers did to lay a SOLID foundation for Nigeria at independence? ![]() I have always believed that the idea of a founder is someone who contributes something unique to the creation of an entity; so pray, what did each of Ahmadu Bello, Nnamdi Azikiwe, and Obafemi Awolowo contribute to the formation and establishment of a nation state called Nigeria? I'm not asking what each did for his own section, region or tribe; I'm asking about their NATIONAL FOUNDATION contribution. Just today, I was thinking out aloud why Nigeria's founding father never thought about creating a NEW NIGERIAN NATIONAL LANGUAGE. One of my friends from Edo state actually went out of his way to create a national language (he is a linguist by profession), and called it Ghousa; I can't recall the full meaning of the words strung together to form the name of the language. I personally came up with a language called YIH (for Yoruba, Igbo, and Hausa) whereby the language simply borrows from each of the languages, words which each language represents best, and deliberately avoiding bad combinations like Zo-mbi (come here in Hausa and Yoruba). ![]() But on serious note, it is very possible and doable; a national language that would be used to replace English and used to form a sense of national identity which currently lacks in Nigeria. This effort would take about 50 years to fully cement, and could have been cemented by now if it was initiated in 1960. To do so today would need the same 50 years to cement! I think that a Nigerian should first get angry at the so called founding fathers, who were deliberately backward and lazy (I say they acted delibrately because they were very smart and well educated folks), who failed the nation in every conceivable way, yet they grace our currency today, practically for doing NOTHING. ![]() The Bible says "if the foundation be destroyed, what can the righteous do?". There are better deserving Nigerians for our national currency! I think these so called "founding fathers" should be outsted from our national edifices. If the younger politicians in Nigeria were radical enough, this would happen, and used to teach current thieves and charlattans a lesson in accountability and patriotism. The greatest problem now is that the foundation is so bad that even younger politicians can't change much without being compromised or killed. A sad nation indeed! ![]() |
manny4life: A big shame to all of you, if this is how unity and tolerance is, tufia, I don't wanna be a part of it --- The gods of our land forbid this mockery of yourselves. Imagine how all of you guys are denigrating yourselves even before the eyes of your "supposed" enemies, ifele o na emekwa unu?So na i bu nwa Anaedo? No wonder. Which village? |
But I seriously think it is time for someone to call Abagworo to order in this Nairaland. I mean seriously! Abagworo is the single biggest enemy of Igbo unity in this forum by his ways in this forum which he thinks nobody notices. Abagworo would kiss any non-Igbo a.s.s shamelessly and mindlessly, but would constantly try to attack Anambra state as if Anambra is his worst nightmare. Go throughtout Nairaland, you will constantly see Agagworo's constant side comments and idiotic innuendos and false historical and cultural perspective that only adds fuel to the fires of our disunity. In my book, one Abagworo (who is committed and steady in his smear campaign on Anambra state) is far more dangerous than ten Chinos. At least Chino never pretends, and only shows up when Anambra or Peter Obi is attacked ,even as subtly as Abagworo does it; we all notice but Chino reacts. @Abagworo, you are too old to be engaging in nonsensical smear campaign against your "sister" state. I personally don't believe that you are FULLY Igbo. You once alluded that your mother is from one of the "SS" tribes. So, whenever you state that Igbo are not one, I agree because YOU are NOT my brother. ![]() Nonsense. |
@Topic EDUCATION |
@Bros Chino and Odenigbo Aroli, We are all umu Igbo; umunne. I know that there will always be never-do-wells among us (umu igbo), like the guy who first attacked Anambra state on this thread for no sensible reason; I would always think that ignoring such a person completely, elevates rather than demotes Anambra state and her citizens. How can I be wrong on this one my brothers? My position on this issue has never changed; I am no longer Eze; just one of you. Nna e, ejelu m uno, wee choputa na umu Anambra enwerodili efe igosi pictures ma obu videos ife na eme na Anambra state. Ife di iche iche n'eme, mana onwerodi onye nwelu efe iseputa ya na internet. Ike wee gwu m! lol Eji m ye wee muta nnukwu ife. Bikonu ka anyi rapu isa okwu n'enwero isi. Dalu nu rinne. |
PointB: Chino and Nri Priest are overly sensitive in their defense of Anambra State. You hardly see any of these scuffle without their names popping up in the thread. The bolded beats me too. |
@OP It is refreshing to read a robust brainstorm of Nigerian political permutations here. Nairaland political section has been lacking indepth insights recently. What you stated are facts which clever politicians in Nigeria already know. As much as some folks may hate GEJ ( I won't ever hate him, lol) he won't be a pushover going into the next elections. . . unless of course someone from his staunchest base is picked to run against him. That is why I became apprehensive when Soludo was snagged by EFCC. Methinks it was a GEJ gambit. I hope he retraces his steps though. Having said these, I really hope that GEJ would not run in 2015. That is the way to keep things simple for SE , SS and MB/NC going into the future. |
Olaolufred: THEN WHAT HAS GIVEN YOU THE AUDACITY THAT MIDDLE BELT AND SOUTH SOUTH WILL VOTE FOR A SOUTH-EASTERNER.I think you don't really understand what the OP is trying to say and you are not even making serious effort to understand. Read his argument again and calm down first to digest it before responding. I tire for una "jumpy yarn". ![]() The SS and MB will feel far safer voting for a SE candidate than a core North one: SS because of their oil resources which they feel is being exploited to their total exlusion; MB due to their feeling that the core North will kill the rest of them if they allow them back in power. A candidate from the SW would have been Ok for them too, except that the SW still has to win back trust after siding with the North in the resource control "war" in recent past. Se o ye insi. (lol @ my poor Yoruba). ![]() |
