ijaw citizen: IT IS NOT MEANT FOR YOU TO DETERMINE WHAT THE IJAW MAN NEEDS. WE IJAWS KNOW EXACTLY WHAT WE NEED AND WE SHALL GET IT.Egbesu (abi na ekwensu) is a she? Hmm, never knew. ![]() |
Imagine governing a state with millions of dayokanus. Ain't that hell? ![]() |
Eko Ile: $ 15 billion on what? Roundabout and Isi Ewu? ![]() Una no de tire for tribalism, wallahi. |
musiwa11: one issue is not been sincere of the people of the east on the issue.. every igbo man, knows what Otu eke means.. but the other nigerian who do not understand igbo do not know what otu eke means. but for me, who understand igbo. I know what eke is.. I can not be fool by their trick..ROTFL ![]() |
Naija sef.Okay, I have a proposal to make to Oga statistician. Would he agree to a federal stimulus package for poor regions and states following his statistics; i.e. the poorer the geo-political region, the more federal funds they get? Something tells me that this same statistician will cry "Oti o!" to such a proposal. ![]() |
MegaMan2020: So who is this Igbo man that will change Nigeria? You wonder why it is only myself and one more Igbo that is responding to you here? lol Wait, others will soon land here to give you that insult you are craving. At this point, barring any other intelligent contribution, I'm out of this thread. Signing off, Yours truly, Onlytruth. ![]() |
MegaMan2020: Where is this Igbo man that will transform Nigeria? Answer my question. You won't see him even if he is the person paying your bills monthly. You won't see him because you are blinded by tribal hate. lol |
aribisala0: Only Truth I really would not like to be insolent but your comment is not very well informed. Maybe you are not quite knowlegdeable about how share prices work. The problem I have with you is your tendency to assert authoritatively without a shred of intellectual humility and almost always you assert on things you have no knowledge of displaying your ignorance unabashedly. Nigeria is not isolated from the global economy and banks are not either. I fail to see what difference Soludo,Jesus Christ or MohammedSAW would make to your share prices. ULTIMATELY shares prices are able to sustain an increase when they pay dividends. Short term increases are driven by emotion but in the long run fundamentals prevail. How can you expect anyone to take you seriously with a remark like in Soludo's time the "shares would have grown for sure" Honestly I do not think you are a stupid guy but that remark is quite dumb, like really. What really troubles me is you obviously believe it and probably believe it is Soludo's Igboness that would have done the magic!!!.Go back throughout this thread, you would NEVER see where I said that only Igbo has what it takes to move Nigeria forward. I only said that if Nigeria wants to move forward superbly, or with more confidence (as a former warring country) then there is a NEED for an Igbo president. As for the shares, pray how can the shares of the BEST BLUE CHIP company of a country stay static for 4 years and the rest of the economy continue to grow? Y'know, I really can't have this debate with you guys. My conclusion is that Nigeria is a THIRD WORLD COUNTRY that needs BOLD economic policy to instigate growth and job creation. Sanusi killed a child that had hyperthyrodism, instead of performing a simple surgery to shrink the thyriod gland. He removed the gland completely! Now the child is not growing at all. Nna y'all can continue to believe what you want, but you cannot change that fact that Nigeria missed a major growth opportunity. NOW PLEASE LET'S STICK TO THIS TOPIC. Thanks. |
MegaMan2020: Lol imagine you telling me how Nigeria works. I know exactly how Nigeria works. I've lived here most of my life. I know Yorubas never wanted Obasanjo but he was put in power because at the time North had a firm grip on the counry. It's not the same anymore. It seems that you don't understand how things work because you're yet to tell me who this mystical Igbo man is that will change Nigeria. And if he will change Nigeria how come he hasn't changed Igboland? The ultimate truth is that Nigeria is under Northern rule. The more things change the more they remain the same POLICITICALLY in Nigeria. The sooner you learn that the better for you. A former Northern political juggernaut once said "he who controls the superstructure, controls the infrastructure". ![]() Go and find out what that means. |
percipi1: Pardon me, the last time I checked, Nigeria was still a democracy where people are free to elect any person as their president. Asking us to pick a candidate of an Igbo extraction to rule is like telling us that Igbos are better in governance than the rest of Nigerians. That is quite ethnocentric. You must know that Nigeria is a country of more than 200 ethnic groups who have equal right to aspire to the post. That is why I told the other guy above that he did not understand how Nigeria works. As much as you hate it, that is how Nigeria works. Obasanjo was HAND PICKED, YAR ADUA WAS HAND PICKED, JONATHAN WAS HANDPICKED the first time. He only contested the second time as incumbent president weilding presidential powers. When his term is up, his successor would most likely be hand picked. It is sad, but that is the reality of Nigerian presidential politics. |
MegaMan2020: That's the point I'm making. Who is this Igbo president? It's easy for those in the diaspora to mouth off but lets be honest. Have you seen igboland lately in person? Igbos in Igboland can't even select good govornors! That's not a diss, that's the truth. Who will the president be? We won't simply give you a president JUST because you're Igbo. That makes lil to no sense. Igbo politicians can't even get along for the most part. Imagine just handing the presidency over lolNigeria does not work the way you think my friend. Obasanjo was the most infamous Yoruba man. Heck he was even in prison. He was yanked from there and made president. He was made president against Yoruba protests. That is how Nigeria works my friend; ie if you are interested in the truth. |
aribisala0: Do we need to do any healing with Ogoni people too ? They have been weighed down mightily by the Nigerian YokeNothing threatens Nigeria more than the Biafran issue. You won't understand, but those in the know understands. |
aribisala0: But for Sanusi's intervention our banking system would have collapsed. When we consider the activities of Akingbola,Ibru and others who were Hobnobbing with Soludo and how these were concealed under his watch the mind boggles.I am convinced that a man like Sanusi with the courage he displayed in fighting the rot could ONLY be IgboI bought some shares of First Bank in 2008 at N33/share. Today, those shares are still worth the same, or even less (bonus, dividends, interests et al calculated) today. In Soludo's time, the shares would have grown for sure. Nigeria was quickly assuming an international financial role under CC Soludo. Sanusi destroyed all that and set us back YEARS. Like I said, this is not the thread to do the comparison. There was a thread on that here in Nairaland; If you like I can dig it up. Comparing Soludo and Sanusi is like comparing a professor and a student respectively. |
aribisala0: Not true, it varies around the world and it is not a measure of civilization anyway. The financial crisis which has lingered for 5 years tells us there is no proven formula for how best to regulate commercial banking.I believe that Nigeria can actually start to move forward with CONFIDENT steps if we elect a good president of Igbo extraction. It is important for national healing and forward movement. We can kill two birds with one stone. Pick a really smart presidential material from Igboland. |
@Prof Corruption If you want to debate whether Soludo was the greatest CBN boss or not, please open a new thread. Let's not derail this one. Thanks. |
Prof Corruption: SLS lacks macro economic credentials to be a successful CBN governor. Nevertheless, he was able to manage the mess left by Soludo but actually incapable of formulating sound policies. Aganga should not have been appointed a Finance minister in the first place. He knows nothing about Economics. He actually read biological sciences before venturing into investment world. That was why the dude could not make a good budget. The greatest oncological surgeon can finish his life saving surgical operation and leave the scene; then a wound care doctor would come and start ranting that the Onco expert did not bother about the wounds that resulted from the surgery. He can even claim that the patient is dying from decay from the wound, but that can only fool uneducated minds. Most educated folks would ask him to shut up and do his own job, or leave. I still maintain that Nigeria's CBN boss has no business checking the health of banks. The SEC is there to do that. |
aribisala0: Was Max Planck Igbo??Still don't know what this has to do with the topic. Was he Nigerian? |
Prof Corruption: The banking sector he was supposed to be overseeing was actually not only on the verge of dying but could throw spanners at the whole economy before Soludo was shown the way out. It required the infusion of public funds into such dying banks to stabilise the the subsector of economy. He failed woefully at policing such banks. Is Ben Bernanke responsible for the health of commercial banks in US? The problem with Nigeria is that doctors do the works of nurses, medical lab techs, radiologists, and other health pros. That is Nigeria and Nigerian mindset; but that does not mean that things should work that way. In civilized climes, the CBN's ONLY job is MONETARY policy. |
aribisala0: Max Planck saidSo, professor what has that to go with our discourse? Abey no vex o. ![]() |
Prof Corruption: Laughable. Why are all successful presidents in history not economists? If you appoint a good finance minister, a good CBN governor and put in place an efficient regulatory framework for Stock Market in Nigeria, the system can run on auto. In other words, a president just need to appoint good economic team and the rest is like eating Akara.Thank you for saying all the bolded. But we just saw how a great CBN governor was removed by a president who was not skilled enough to understand what he was doing. The rule book Soludo initiated in Nigeria was attacked by the current CBN boss, but when Soludo challeged him and Aganga to a debate, did they take it up? Nigeria was on track to dominate African finance, but alas a dumb president removed him in nick of time! In a serious country, Soludo would have remained the CBN boss for at least 15 years. What you are thinking of cannot work in Nigeria. Our best bet is a trained economist as president, while others can provide political advise to him. An economist is ruled by STATISTICS -> HARD FACTS, more than the nuances and lies of politics. Soludo remains Nigeria's best. |
Dust and all, Enugu acquits itself of being the most regal city in the East. Apart from Abuja, no other city beats Enugu. ![]() |
Prof Corruption: That's the problem of Igbo in coded language. Soludo has been tested and failed monumentally. His fraud of idea of the big the better turned out to be the big the messier. He's not sell-able. He was rejected when shouting African Dubai Taiwan nonsense in Anambra. I dey laugh jare.lol@ bolded. Only very biased people say that. The man gave Nigeria a vision and a mission. Nigeria is still playing by his rule book formed before consolidation of banks. Every attempt to tarnish his reputation failed woefully. He remains the best. |
Prof Corruption: Rochas can be part of the team that can actualise the dream but lacks the core basics of governance. He can't be a direct beneficiary.Nigerian presidents don't need to be political wizards to succeed. What we need is an ECONOMIC wizard. The president has at his service ALL political wizards in Nigeria to pick for special assistance job. The president should be a trained and inspirational economic leader that can inspire greatness in Nigeria's economic development. You are actually getting it the other way round. Please tell me who can beat Soludo in economic genius in Nigeria? Soludo's type would be a wasted talent as a SS, becaus the president may be the dumb type that would simply trash any suggestion from the best mind in economics in the world. |
MegaMan2020: And that is the problem of the Igbo. They always want to show people what they've achieved. Especially come Christmas time when they want to go back to their villages in flash cars. The igbo mindset is every man for themselves and money over everything. There's a reason why Igbos didn't want to go back to igboland for christmas this year. It just isn't safe. An igbo man will do anything for money. That's why kidnapping is such a major issue in Igboland.I don't want to argue blindly, but do you really believe that Yoruba is more home minded than Igbo? Do you really believe that? lol You may be right about the money mindset prevalent in Igboland, but that is not a problem because whites are like that too, yet they have the best countries in terms of development and lifespan. I believe that we demonstrated ability thought not to exist in Igboland when we gave Jonathan 98% vote. That is settled as far as I'm concerned. The only Nigerian with the energy, vision, intelligence, tenacity of purpose, and charisma to engineer a national rebirth in Nigeria is a name by the name of CHARLES CHUKWUMA SOLUDO. The only time Nigeria had a leader with same qualities, was under military rule. (IBB the great). IBB lacked Soludo's training though. |
Prof Corruption: The only one I can personally recommend, Chime, is sick at the moment. I wish him quick recovery. What do you have against a Soludo or a Rochas? |
MegaMan2020: How long ago was that? That's why I laugh at Igbos. How can you focus on the future if you are busy looking at the past? Igbos on Nairaland can leave Nigeria if they want, who's stopping them? The question is do the Igbos that have settled in the SW and North want to leave though? Especially those in SW, where they aren't killed at will. That's the question? because i live around them and they don't even teach their children Igbo. All their children speak yoruba fluently though...Very few Igbo would have that endless argument with you on this issue. We are tired of that argument. We know for a fact that you don't want Igbo to leave Nigeria. So, let us end it here. |
Prof Corruption: Igbo 2015 project again? There are many and you know it. |
MegaMan2020: I don't need to picture match anything. It's Igbos that live round here that tell me thy won't go back to the East. I've been to Aba. I've seen the place with my own two eyes. It's you igbos on nairaland that aren't being honest with yourselves. The so called Jews of Africa here in yorubaland will gladly help develop my land but won't lift a finger to help develop igboland. that says alot to me.I told you that there are Igbo in Afghanistan, it doesn't mean they will not return to Igboland when they feel that they can come home to impress people. We are like that. We like impressing our people at home (the "see what I have achieved" mentality). Most of the emigration from Igboland stem from this mindset. However a lot is from lack of direct international access. It is not one factor. All I know is that if Enugu international airport becomes fully functional, it will help to reduce emigration from Igboland to other Nigerian cities/regions. We can then leave and land in Japan, America, etc; not go by bus to Lagos. BTW why are you fixated on Aba? It is not the worst city in Nigeria you know. |
MegaMan2020: We can't let them go? Most people in the SW and North WANT Igbos to leave. Do you think the Northerners have been killing you for no reason? they WANT you to leave. We Yorubas don't kill you but we don't respect you either. It's you people that don't want to stay in the East for too long.I think he meant that you don't support Biafran independence. Both groups actually fought to keep Igbo in Nigeria, and they still threaten to fight again to keep Igbo in Nigeria. I hope it is clearer to you now. |
MegaMan2020: You're talking rubbish. Forget a German or a greek. Forget a Jew and an Arab. We're talking about Nigeria. The reason yorubas and northerners don't go out of their way to live in igboland because it makes no sense. No sense at all. Igbos that live outside of igboland are the ones that always tell me they will never go back. If Enugu or Owerri Are so great you wouldn't see Igbos living like paupers in Yorubaland hawking goods on busy streets in Ibadan lol. They would be in Enugu or Owerri developing the place lol.You mean that all Igbos in the west are poor folks who cannot survive in Igboland? I still don't get your point. There are both rich and poor Igbo outside of Igboland. It says nothing about the condition of Igboland. I challenged one of you to a picture match between key Igbo and Yoruba capital towns; he ran away. Would you have that picture match? Enugu vs Ibadan; Owerri vs Abeokuta. ![]() |
Dear Mods, This is 2013 and I'm hoping that Nairaland would be different in some ways this year. To that effect, I hope that something is done about TROLLING. Take this thread for example: https://www.nairaland.com/1152355/igbo-president-refine-rebrand-nigeria The thread is being derailed already by a poster whose contribution to Nairaland has mostly (if not Only) being trolling. What is the need for a poster who contrbutes NOTHING, but often successfully changes the direction of discourse (mainly towards hate and negativity) through constant trolling? We can all troll (though I must admit that people with serious personal issues make better trolls) but Nairaland should be able to defend itself to some extent against such people. Let this year portend good for Nairaland. Dedicated trolls should not be tolerated here. Ad hominems are the most useless forms of contribution to any thread. |
manny4life: Igbo? Not only Igbo, he will speak Swahili next... Ah, did you forget that there's Google interpreter? That is why I gave him another Igbo quote to interpret, lol. That guy trolls more than any other in Nairaland. I will report him to one of the Mods this time because we don't want trolls to destroy Nairaland this year. Meanwhile I will ignore him like I usually do. ![]() |
