Emperoh, let this man buy the Honda 05 Accord and enjoy driving comfort without winding down all the time because of AC fault or fear for fuel consumption ![]() Save him from Injector problems, you know the complete manifold costs over 45k, and remember that from Ikeja to VI everyday is over 70Km - totaling about 140Km daily use Poster, I still strongly advise you go for the 05 Honda Accord, its a better option. @George_D You are very correct sir! but for a lot of reasons, I would stand by my advice to the poster to buy a Honda and not the C Class. Also, personally, I prefer a padded 95 V-Boot to the 2001 C Class. |
@Perfectbuy Thats very clear now. So we are looking at NGN260,000.00 in addition to the car cost. Makes sense. |
@Emperoh Thanks for your response. Most people that buy the Honda Accord are everyday users; like employees, bankers, etc - they drive it everyday; I don't know about your mum's driving BUT I'm pretty sure she wont be using it like an average male driver. Ive never owned a C Class but bought a 190 once and an E320. The E Class can handle an everyday usage BUT will need some serious periodic checks so as not to depreciate terribly (Money), For the 190 (contrary to your own experience) which was to be like a pool ride BUT just not practical, so had to do away with it. The mechanic simply becomes your "god". The thing is that the Mercedes C Class will last a very long time because its built to be rugged, BUT If you will drive it as an everyday ride, you will spend so much. They are better as travel or leisure rides BUT the Honda is a guaranteed everyday everyday driver without spending too much - and the comfort is worth every cent you spend. You might also want to consider fuel economy on the long run. |
@Bizbooks Thanks for your contribution here, This is progress. That small crack is just a cosmetic issue, It is not an engine or gear problem. You know what the car is going for so you simply keep it in the range and give an intending buyer the option of changing the wind-shield before shipping (which will be preferred to avoid leakages when its done here locally) We really appreciate people like you. @Beecrofty Someone priced a vehicle for 50 Naira once on nairaland. Its all in small minds. |
Well, its up to the poster. By the way, they are not in the same price range. You can check the prices for the Murano and the Infiniti FX on nairaland.
|
@Proo212 You are simply repeating what I just posted. and IF you say the Infiniti is not a better ride, that simply contradicts what you just posted that "Infiniti is the luxury arm of Nissan" OR are you are saying the ORDINARY nissan muraNO is better than the LUXURIOUS Infiniti FX - these were your words ![]() C'mon pal, we all know what it is. Poster take FX and leave that beetle muraNO smiling. |
@Tedanne I suggest you look at my earlier post up in the thread. The sensors that reflect the gear status are simply electrical, the movement is a hardware issue with the gear system itself. The only thing is that for some models; to reach the tray of sensors, you will need to drop the gear and also when replacing a gear system, a lot of mechanics disregard the electronics and just install the gear system. I will suggest you come to Lagos, go to Ladipo or Owode Onirin and buy the gear system PLUS all the wiring. You will be spending too much having mechanics run you round. |
@George_D Thanks for the clarification; C-Class is a disgrace to the fold. Even if you check online, the newer models always have bad reviews. The C Class is a continuation of the 190 (which according to mercedes is a factory failure; the C Class is no different - for the cost, you would expect something better). If you check nairaland, you will find out that the S-class is scarce for sale (Owners don't want to sell), E-Class is also scarce (Owners don't want to sell) BUT THE C Class is everywhere - owners are selling |
@Poster Ordinarily, they are both Nissan but as you know, the Infiniti usually comes with luxury options as standard, and has most of its parts re-inforced and high-tuned. Overall, the FX is a better vehicle, better masculine design unlike the smiling beetle design of the MURAno. The FX is sturdier and more balanced. The FX is understandably a crossover (Car/SUV); but the MURAno? maybe a car/bus cross or an suv/space-wagon cross. Anyway, there is no bases for comparison, take the FX and feel the road (Nissan addict like Freshmoney) |
@Emperoh Please take no offence in this; I am a fan of German builds - and I'm saying this based on my experience and ownership of their cars, there is one thing the 05 Accord will offer that you wont have from the 01 C Class - Everyday reliability and comfort. The C Class is rugged, but an unstable vehicle, Its better for someone who has other cars to support it - it gives you minor issues from hard starting to injector issues, and its parts are not cheap. Overall, it will last a very long time; body-wise and build but you cant bet on it. The Accord is simply an everyday comfortable ride - NOT RUGGED especially body and shafts BUT for the 05, the comfort and gadgets you will enjoy will be way worth the cost of keeping those things at bay. Some models of the Honda are simply too fragile and have those faults coming up very frequently BUT NOT the 05 Honda Accord. |
Perfectbuy You are still not answering the simple question; If a customer buys a car from Kotonou, how much will it cost for you to deliver it? Or is it after paying, you will then tell the person the price? |
@George_D When in Kotonou, no matter what you complain about, they will tell you "Its just bosch - servicing". The most painful was for an agent that was bringing in an 06 Touareg for a friend, by the time he got to Igolo (border area), the gear seized. I personally introduced the agent to the guy at Owode-Onirin that sold him a used gear (from an accident 05) for 520k. You can imagine IF the owner had taken delivery. I think its better for our local dealers to come correct, so people will have enough confidence to buy here or import directly from overseas. |
There are some dealers that will tell you exactly what it is. These are the kind of dealers we should encourage on nairaland. If you are importing, kindly tell us the state and what has been done on the vehicle. People will trust you even when they find out that what you said is exactly what the VIN said. A friend told me during a recent flood - some dealerships were affected AND 70% of those vehicles were routed to West Africa - So people buying from Kotonou should beware. You don't have much time and space to test drive those vehicles there. Dealers, help us like some of you have been doing already by keeping it real. |
@Arizona1 So are you, Thanks Bre. |
My advice; Buy the Honda, its more modern, more gadgets and the comfort you will get from driving it will be worth whatever you will need to spend to keep it in top shape. |
@Freshmoney Try it and you will be ON TOP OF THE WORLD. The fuel thing; that thought is for taxi drivers. All SUVs are thirsty - especially the big luxury ones, even the Lexus LX470 has an average gas mileage of 13MPG. |
"I love to rest my arms on the console btw the chairs while i am driving and do my thang while i shift the gear." @Fhemmmy That's the only way to roll. Especially when the console in-between the chairs is a little high, so you dont have to lean too much. |
@Ping2Ping Buy the Camry, take care of the car and check your gear oil regularly and periodically drain and refill it - You will be fine. No worries. |
Hey Chealsea, how is your BMW? |
@Chyjoke True, but the honda is on a very fragile side when it comes to build, parts and especially that front set of shafts - they pull off so easily at a turn or even worse in motion. Anyway, its my personal view and opinion. Toyota is safer because a gear problem will slow down or freeze a car, but a complete shaft pulling off in motion will risk lives. Like I said, its my view and opinion. |
There is a power steering hose that is leaking. Its not okay to let it go on leaking, go have the hose changed or maybe its the clip, just have it sorted. |
@Poster Buy the Camry. Shaft issues with the Honda will frustrate you - especially with that model. |
@Freshmoney The STATE of Nigerian roads and armed robbers had declared war on vehicles a long time ago, hence the Tank H2 ![]() Like I said earlier, the X6 is a nice and sporty crossover, BUT FOR ME, I have a concern for the head room for the driver (if of average height) and the passengers in the back seat. Also it has a minus from me for cargo space. |
@Freshmoney Mine is a H2 not H3. The X6 is a nice ride but strikes me as being of very small cargo and head room. What do you think? |
@Freshmoney I saw a black 09 Escalade at the Lagos Airport last thursday, that thing is heavy and very solid looking. That front grill is state of the art. The ride makes a very strong statement - and for your business; its a good tool. Best of luck with it. |
@Fhemmmy Its a concern pal, no worries. I'm asking him how he operates and his delivery prices, NOT worried about how he does his thing. Hope he answers @Freshmoney I bought the hummer last week in Abuja for 4.7M, a friend bought his for 3.5M from the same guy BUT he later confessed that my friend's own was used BUT with private number by a Katsina "Big" boy Now I get it about Tpia - never heard of her till now though |
You never know, he might walk in there and buy that , or have his bag filled with some |
@Fhemmy I like the 7 series BUT this Kotonou thing is a big problem now in Lagos - I know a guy that paid for an 07 Odyssey and a week later the agent came asking for 400k @Platinumnk BMWs are very comfortable - early models were a disaster though. Its only becoming clearer that BMW has overtaken Mercedes |
@Freshmoney I like the 7 series BUT this Kotonou thing is a big problem now in Lagos - I know a guy that paid for an 07 Odyssey and a week later the agent came asking for 400k |
@Platinumnk Its been a long time. I didn't buy the Range Rover because of the third Row seat - I bought an 04 Hummer instead, full option and 3rd Row seat for the kids. @Freshmoney Who is Tpia |
Fresh, who is Tpia? never heard of him/her |
Sorry ooooo, Fhemmmy Goldberg ![]() |
