I will really appreciate IF you can tell us exactly why Jucol was banned; If its a software problem or something he posted - kindly clarify.

This input and thread he is creating takes a lot of time, research and care to make happen, and I'm sure there are so many of us who will print these out as guides to buying vehicles.

Please have his ID unbanned or explain what happen to us.

Thanks for that input. The rotors are my first check; they need to be replaced or resurfaced - I think a good job should be about 1k or 1.5k for the resurfacing per rotor.

Do not let them do any welding there. Let him buy the rubber patches they use for raising cars. I have it on mine - they cost NGN300 for each and measures about 1" or they ask what height adjustment you need.

The welding is not healthy for the shocks at all; what they do is to permanently weld a height measures on the shocks itself.

Please let them buy the rubber patches and install.

If you look closely; you will find that at this level - Both cars are simply differentiated by their badges and signature body constructions.

Check out the interiors, they are simply a replica of the other.

But I'll take the Mercedes Benz badge.

Well, its just the way you see things. Anyways, you need to keep off those claims of "fraudsters you know" to ease off tension and enable people buy what they will and enjoy services from our dealers and importers.

Has your Toyota come in yet?, Kunle-A is working at a BMW I saw on craigslist.org for me. Its nice to know one can browse and see a car you like and then have a dealer here get it for you.

His charges makes a lot of sense too.

It shouldn't be a big deal, BUT it becomes a big deal IF you claim you know dealers on nairaland that are fraudsters BUT refuse to mention names.

My own opinion is that IF you cant mention any names, you don't have any case, and IF INDEED such people exist and you don't want to expose them, you are then being very unfair to us all.

I'd stick to the thread, its why we are here.

I really don't know what you expect from me. If you have a satellite or something for getting those names, then please use it because I know IF anyone has spent  a million buying a car and encounters a problem, he or she will report it - I can assure you.

There is something we are missing out here; What if a buyer sees a car (either from a seller's online show room or from an independent dealer overseas) and only asks a dealer to buy and ship on his/her behalf - who's responsibility is it?

And its funny, you never contributed a bit when I was insisting he mention names. Anyways, I cant see any names from him because he has clearly not bought any vehicle from nairaland OR know anyone who has given him any names.

I believe people learn by asking or at times assertions, the important thing is to be corrected and understand that fact.

What is important here is not just me, you or George_D, its the importers, the dealers and us the buyers; that's why I'm particular about the thread, not about George_D (as a matter of fact, he was not even there on the thread from the scratch)

I know how denting those allegations can be to dealers and importers (IF names are mentioned) and how nice it will be to have any such dealer exposed - because its a lot of money for an average toks here on nairaland.

The mission is to increase seller's confidence to keep it real, AND the buyer's confidence to shop with ease.

If George actually had names, I know he would have mentioned.

Its a very big issue actually, BUT from what I have seen from George_D, I think its simply out of fear of such transaction that he mentioned it AND NOT that he had bought a lemon car online here on nairaland.

I cannot see him doing it to spite any particular dealer simply because he did not mention any names even after all our posts. I may be wrong, but I strongly feel that way.

I believe that for someone to come online here as a dealer - their foremost will be to get good references; like the Ayodeji guy - someone dedicated a whole thread to him and I never saw any negatives on that thread.

Will take this back but you need to read through a thread and respond intelligently or buzz off.

Your off-the-point comments show how empty you are. I don't need to go on with someone who believes he has a standard in the report as long as he justifies it to himself.

I would only wish IF IT WERE TRUE, the names of dealers involved in any of those claimed acts should be mentioned, and since that was not the case, then its all good.

You have made a very good observation; there are some of us - me for instance - the taste of cars I like are way too expensive for any reasonable budget at this point in time, hence one buying same model (and maybe few years off).

I like the 2010 S Class for instance BUT you don't drive out of that shop in it except you have 23M - Now, that's 7 units of 2 bedroom bungalows on 3 plots right there.

So, at times, its a matter of priority.

I think your name describes you well.

I know for a fact that IF no names are mentioned, that means it does not exist, simply because if a seller meets a buyer on this forum and there is a breach, it will be very unfair for the buyer not to expose the seller to save everyone of us from making that same mistake.

I have bought a local rebuilt for 2.3M (It was an S55) and I ended up spending over 300k to get the shaking to stop, these are things that would have been well done out there; I have driven cars overseas that were rebuilt and I simply cant tell the difference from a new one.

If you ready carefully and not busy-bodying - you will notice that I never condemned the skills of the Nigerian mechanics BUT emphasized on their negligence and compromise all for the sake of making peanuts and also availability of the OEM replacements in Nigeria - Its from experience - which I have to share with Nigerians to avoid them making the same mistakes.

You might want to cut that "goat" thing and those insults out because some of us would pass you on the streets and actually notice a goat on the street and not you.

Well its strictly on if you drive used cars (imported though), and preferably used by celebrities, ex-presidents, taliban chiefs, etc

That's what this is supposed to be, and I respect that; BUT when you say you know some dealers that you don't want to mention their names and they are fraudsters, its a whole new level, especially when you are making a case out of it.

I have nothing against his person, BUT its better to come correct and mention names rather than leave intending buyers scared of buying from anyone which will eventually make dealers doctor up things to suit whoever.

I will rather he mention names and have those things exposed. By the way; a car being clean has nothing to do with a title of being "clean". Being explicit helps in things. But I will respect IF the "clean" title from Carfax is his standard - Its on him  

If there is one such bad dealer, let him be named and let it be backed up, IF NOT, George_D should shut up and drive his used highlander and be grateful to the dealer that gave him that opportunity.

If as you claim you know a dealer who sells "fake" vehicles, name him and back it up. IF NOT, shut up and drive your used highlander and be grateful to the dealer that got it for you and stop ranting.

At Ladipo and most places, they sell both the shocks and spring together as a package. BUT its cool you've pointed this out so he doesn't leave out any of the two.

It is impossible for a dealer to provide you with a VIN that says "accident reported" and tell you its "clean" "title".

When you say a vehicle is clean, it has nothing to do with titles because incidents might not have been reported concerning the vehicle itself. So when a dealer says its a clean car, all you need to do is inspect and drive.

So, you cannot label a dealer a fraud just because he tells you a car is clean and you check VIN and see it was involved in an accident 3 years ago.

Why can't he go to Berger and before pricing a vehicle he should key in the VIN and see what it pops up with before buying?. Let him go there and ask them for VIN. Its not just right when any cheap a.s.s can just just post trash, and in the end he is ordering for what?, a highlander?, and says he could have gone for a "ratty"? tucson?, which is way more expensive than the below-average highlander he wants to drive.

I'm clear on my point; drive what you can buy and appreciate a dealer by what he offers you and not what you forced him to make you believe. I believe most of the dealers investing millions in buying vehicles overseas and shipping them down here are mostly in it to get good references from buyers and not to scam them in any way.

He says he knows people on nairaland that sell "fake" vehicles, let him name one and let a customer that has bought from them confirm that. Its important he does this to show he is not a low-life; you have One naira and the next thing is that you are throwing labels at people who are investing millions on cars, Its not right.

You have a culprit, you name that person and let the whole of nairaland confirm it and bring the person out.

Its nothing personal Bre. Sounds like you really know the highlander's history.

Anyway, I didn't know the Tucson was that cheap (I know the highlander here in Lagos is about 2M or 2.3M). It will be nice IF the dealer that gave you the "accident" 09 Highlander for that price to post it on nairaland - I'm sure it will move very fast.

Like I said, try and get some education on vehicles and how dealerships work and especially the insurance angle to titles. It will really help.

The most important thing is that our importers and dealers give us good cars to drive, especially when bought as-is.

One would have recommended wheel balancing and alignment, but since you said you had done those, then this should help;

1. Go have them check your steering rack and dampers - most likely need changing.
2. Check your front brake discs; I once had that with my 4Runner.
