EMMABC1: It's either u a fool or u are blind. Let me ask u, how many substandard or standard roads did past govs of Imo construct since 1999 despite d huge revenue? Is it not obvious that d number of roads rochas has done so far have eclisped theirs put together? Substandard or standard, he has changed d face of d entire state within a short period. On d salary, he pays promptly. My mum who is a nurse is a witness to that. Rochas is not d best neither is he a saint, but he has been so far d only outstanding governor of Imo after Mbakwe. My dear you have been fooled and i can bet you don't live in the state so why don't you keep quiet. Meanwhile, try and read a post properly before yo start unleashing your abuses. Please stop desecrating the name of Dee Sam Mbakwe by mentioning it in the same sentence with Rochas. |
When a high ranking public officer like a governor throws decorum to the winds not once or twice, but ALWAYS, he makes uncivil conduct a norm . Onye wuo onwe ya n'ala, umu okuko aturia ya. |
DaVinChiSam: . No I disagree ma. You call it fraud, I call trying to get back the money you invested. Do not forget Filmmaking is also a business, People actually Invest Money, lemme reiterate, people Use personal monies to fund/finance these productions, so you expect after investing millions then they sale it a hundred naira per CD for you which ends up being pirated and sold for less? No ma, the reason they stretch it, albeit unreasonably sometimes is to recoup money invested in it so as to hopefully make another one. There are some films that sold one off, tell me pray Madam/sire how many you bought? My dear, you are right. They invested money and have to recoup, but they don't have to punish their customers to do so. Many people resort to renting the films, dubbing them or doing any other thing to avoid being exploited in this manner. As a matter of fact, it is extreme patriotism that has made many people to keep patronizing Nigerian movies when we can buy a Philippine film with less than half the amount for part one and two of a Nigerian movie(45-50 minutes) and keep yourself busy and entertained for days. Too much of everything is bad. They should appreciate and not exploit their fans. |
LAWLESSNESS! Enshrining impunity and irresponsibility in governance. Brashness, rashness and ruthlessness. |
Ebola virus has shown itself in our shores and once again, we are all looking up to the West to show us a way out. Of course, they did same with polio, measles, whooping cough and in fact, every other disease. Why would this one be different? After all, are we not the cry baby of the world? The baffling thing is that we have epidemiology units in our ministries of health. We also have all kinds of researchers, many of them well trained and ready to work, but ill equipped. Ordinarily, this outbreak is mainly a West African thing and Nigeria should have risen to the challenge long before it got close to her threshold. When will this sleeping giant wake up or is there a need for a strong shock therapy? |
DaVinChiSam: It will. But first before it attracts outsiders the insiders also have to play their parts. Mayhaps if we all join in to support, promote, advertise it to the outside world then hopefully we can achieve this feat. What am I talking about? Buy original films, watch nigerian films at the cinema etc. ThanksI agree, but Nollywood must first stop defrauding those who patronize them. The virus of fraud will not allow them to go far unless they get rid of it. The idea of packaging a one-hour story into six or eight parts is soooo very annoying. What about the endless adverts that often take up half of the film? Nollywood needs urgent rebranding. Anyhow, i am proud of their accomplishments so far. |
Abagworo, Abagworo, Abagworo! |
Refusal to pay a teeming number of Imo workers their salaries for many months--General Hospital, umuguma, water board, imo newspapers, ibc, itc, and many more Running a spurious free education system that sacrificed quality Saying too much and doing too little Deducting money arbitrarily from the salaries of the workers he agreed to pay Building substandard roads and houses , many of which have collapsed Acting before thinking in virtually every matter Running a government of deceit in all ramifications. Contractors, school children, teachers, civil servants , keke drivers and even market women and men are all his victims Running the state with his whims and sidelining everyone including personal assistants and legislators |
Sincere9gerian: There are two non-performing governors in the southeast- Rochas Okorocha and Theodore Orji. However, the annoying thing is that while Theodore Orji does not pretend about his non-performance, Rochas Okorocha goes about his with so much deceit, hypocrisy and empty noise.Very correct. Honestly, i feel that Abia may be better than Imo . At least the governor has not destroyed the structures he met on ground, unlike Imo where due process has flown through the window and every system of government is groaning under the weight of gross mismanagement and utter cluelessness. |
striktlymi: The Bible is by no means a Catholic book in the sense I presume you mean. I have heard so many call Sacred scriptures a document of the Church but this is grossly incorrect. This response shows a lot of fear for logical reasoning. Acknowledging the simple truth will not hurt anyone. The Bible is a catholic creation and the pope superintends over the entire church structure directly or indirectly. Have you considered that you celebrate Easter only when the pope says so? Do you know the origin of Christmas that Christendom embraces? Only the truth can set men free from shackles of the mind. |
Kponkwem: You must be very ignorant to make this comment. Being a Jew has different variants: You are either a Jew by biological/Natural inheritance or by Religion. We are saying the same thing, my dear. Let them go on and embrace foreigners and even buy their fight while abandoning their own heritage in the name of religion. I call it mind slavery and in this situation, only the truth can set them free. |
ROSSIKE: Oh? So what research have YOU conducted into the origin of the Igbos then?Rossike, it does not hurt to be polite once in a while, you know. Who are you fighting with? |
Way to go, mr president. More nations should follow suit. kudos to the brave man! |
I am not from Imo State neither do I have any particular interest there. However, the all round development going on there is pedagogical, if since 1999 all administration have done half of what the government of Rochas Okorocha is doing, then Imo State could have become a Mecca of sort. Abagworo, if you are not from Imo state, why are you constantly on our case, doing everything possible to obliterate the truth on ground? Well, the only people you can deceive are people like you who are not in the state. The cosmetic approach to governance which Rochas has adopted is unacceptable to the citizens and very soon they will show their displeasure. |
These people have no job. Let them keep dreaming of being Jews when their ancestors had nothing in common with Abraham. Kposhi kposhi! |
I'd say that 99.999% of problems encountered in Nigeria every day are resolved by Nigerians without recourse to help from the next LGA talk less of from foreigners thousands of miles away. I've no idea what you're talking about here. Did you just say 99 percent ? Haba, face the bitter truth. We have toothpicks made in China. Shoes, plates. cups, toothpaste, clothes, tv, common phone chargers and cables are all imported. Stop being proud of what you should be ashamed of. It is not patriotism. |
My dear Rossike and co, does it not strike you as odd that we must wait for foreign aids in order to get vaccines for measles, hepatitis, diphtheria, TB, tetanus Yellow fever, cholera, pertussis and EVERY other disease? What this means is that our lives are actually in the hands of these foreigners. The Hiv pandemic is being tackled with foreign aids. If they choose to, they can shut their doors and allow us to roast in the fire of aids. Even malaria, we cannot find a cure to. Roll back malaria is a foreign initiative. They are distributing insecticide -treated nets which are clearly harmful to us and it is accepted as solution to the malaria problem. Why can't we censor some of these interventions? Because we are Nigerians, the begging capital of the world. I can bet you that if mosquitoes were a problem to the West, they would have gone extinct by now. Even now, we are begging for an outrageous sum to enable us fight terror in spite of all the money we waste on frivolities. The list is endless. ONLY THE TRUTH CAN SET US FREE. We need a strong revolution. |
Clueless government |
A people that will wait for foreigners to come and solve virtually every problem for them A people that will accept everything from the foreigners without making any attempt to add value to it or to modify it to suit their own peculiarities A people that received a defective system of education and more than fifty years later, they have not been able to evolve their own system that will meet their own needs A people that inherited a civil service structure from the colonial masters and ran it aground shortly after. The only period of glory that people in this sector can talk about is that time when the Britons still held sway. A people that have no pride in themselves and their accomplishments; who cannot bring something tangible to the world's negotiation table. Why would such a people not be disrespected? |
What should parents look out for in choosing a school for their children? Many people seem to believe that the ultimate test of a good school is their ability to have consistent good grades in WAEC and other external exams. How true is this? |
Exactly right! Amazing! |
I know that the only reason why anyone would be craving to be identified as a child of Abraham is that the fear carefully packaged inside the Bible has got a hold on them. If not, why would anyone desire to live like Israelites?Where is the famous milk and honey and of what use is it in the midst of so much chaos? |
Don't you think the same can be said about sooooo many other people groups? |
Just wondering, what sort of blessing makes a nation to be in constant warfare, At daggers drawn with all her neighbours all the time? Even their little ones, boys and girls are gurus in the art of bloodshed. Is that what it means to be blessed above all nations? |

dahonestboss: Not surprised. With a population of about 2 million people, and a land mass over half the size of Nigeria, it is expected. Its surprising to the world because its a country in Africa, but in all logical reasoning, the country should do more than that. You may be right but i bet you , if it was like Nigeria, bedridden with the virus of corruption, even if their population was halved and their landmass doubled, they would still be poor like us. They must be blessed with real leaders who care about their people. |
Both husband and wife are candidates for a lunatic asylum. Someone close should get them a psychiatrist before the madness goes full blown. |
MARKone: OP word of advice, never use ur GTB card in First Bank's ATM machine, they don't mix well. Besides, this is not enuf reason to give up on your countyIt is enough reason, my dear. We live in a country that does not take citizen's welfare seriously. The experience he narrated is not funny at all, but i guess we should keep hope alive that one day, a Daniel will come to judgement. |
I am greatly disillusioned about this country. I see the society turning noble men into criminals on a daily basis and i wonder, who created Nigeria? How can a system reward the evil men and punish others for standing by what is right? Check it out- if you are honest in the civil service, your days are numbered. If you refuse to partake in the conspiracy to do malpractice in exams, you are in trouble. If you get into the game of politics with clean hands, you are doomed from the start. The university is rotten. Inventors are frustrated. Geniuses are forced to leave the country in order to survive. In fact the country has failed. Let the military take over if they have the Jerry Rawlings touch. If not, let the country be divided peacefully abeg. |
mu2sa2: The biggest challenge we face today as a nation is that politicians have created a huge disparity in wages to their advantage. The minimum monthly wage in the civil service is 18,000 naira but even the lowest political office holder grabs hundreds of thousands of naira without doing any work. Some of them dont even have a fixed pay - they just pillage the treasury with reckless abandon. What is salary to the president, governors, lg chairmen, when they can spend billions as "security vote" without accounting for it! I laugh when people complain about lack of development despite the huge revenue accruing to the 3 tiers of govt. The money goes into the pockets of political office holders and the few civil servants whose collusion is needed to perpetrate fraud. My brother, i stand with you gidigba. Nigeria needs her own SPECIALLY DESIGNED JERRY RAWLINGS to set things straight. Desperate situations call for desperate measures. |
Tufiakwa!! |
My dear, i am really tired of this country. We are beset with so many intractable problems. We need a Jerry Rawlings in this country urgently. I don't mind a military take-over if the masterminds have good intentions and know how to fix this problem called Nigeria. |
