In america, sports mean alot. They have leagues for four years old in almost every major sport. Even i started playing sports at the tender age of 10. So when it comes to Olympics or World events. . . . . it is natural for the US to come off as arrogant or to competitive. Folk are taught that there is no second best so you gotta come first. So when we lost in the relay. . . . we were crushed. That was ours for the taking and we hand gave it to the Jamaicans. But Usain Bolt's deserved it. I can't wait to see him as an matured Usain because the show boating distracts from is pure natural talent. When he matures and learns to keep it classy. . . . he will go down as one of the best for that country and the world. So America has added pressure more than any other country to do well. And when they don't, people are shocked. What is expected of them says alot. Look at the basket ball team. It was so hard accepting that bronze. But we did. And came back bringing home the gold to its rightful home.

Ive spent 90% of my life in The States so why would I be "hating on you"?  Just giving reasons why you probably went through what you did when you were in Nigeria.

You have no idea what i went through in Nigeria. Never once did i even let the word "American" slip out of my mouth. It was my forsaken aunt you paraded around the compound saying it. After that, folk just looked down on us for doing what? Me and my siblings were innocent. I was only nine years old. I didn't care about any of that. All i cared about was basket ball and candy. So going there and being treated as such was something new and eye opening to me. I have been to Nigeria plenty of times after that. And have received a better experience.

When the chinese won gold for team gymnatics, they didnt even bother to show their medal ceremony even though USA came second/got the ceremony. As long as USA doesnt get the gold and have us suffer through their national anthem, they can't show the ceremonies? Seriously? I found that to be so rude.

As i said before, that is not how it works. Same with when Italy lost in swimming. Do you think they showed the Americans raise their flag? No, my friend told me they just moved on to another event. That is how it works.

We were all laughing our heads off when they came freakin 4th in the relay like a bunch of hibernating bears. LMAO!!!! That was the funniest thing i have ever seen. That will go down in history as the worst expression of sportsmanship. Even Usain Bolts has more class than that.

Yeah i meant the Spaniards. . . . i got we bit mixed up cause im watching the game on Tivo again. Hey his brother plays. . . . and i must admit it seemed like he played better. Unlike his Laker's brother, he didn't see the need to fall down like a spinless tree.

This is why in my childhood i had such resentment over some Nigerians. All my life me, my siblings, friends, all of which of Nigerian descent were deemed as "fake Nigerians". I remember my first time to Nigeria. They treated us like a bunch of spoiled brats who know nothing of the real world. They would make sarcastic jokes and comments. Purposely said "Howdy" to us just to make us feel even more stupid. Talked down to us and when we did any thing they would say "You yankees are spoiled rats" And because of this, i still refuse to speak a word towards some of my estranged family. You see I am an American. And i say it proudly. And i am an Nigerian. And i say that proudly. Do i think one is better than the other, no. So stop trying to make it seem that way. You guys don't know how insulting it is when you come off like that. I have dealt with racist white teachers, racist asian neighbors, racist lations, and racist middle eastern people all my life. And none of which fazed me. But this, this right here all this jive of me being fake. . . . that just hurts.

Its easy to make claims over the internet where people don't see you. I might believe you that you know more about the states than I do if I had proof you worked at the CIA or with the president (little Bush) himself. And even then I'D have doubts you know more about America than I do. Since you don't work at any of the aforementioned you can tell the "I know more about America than you" to someone else who cares or even better keep it to yourself. Having an American passport does not phase me or anyone here for that matter.  
I never pulled the I have seen the world because I've only been to three of the seven continents therefore am quiet aware that I have not seen the world. However the few places around the world I have been to with some ignorant Americans is quiet telling.  

Am not accepting compliments from anyone. . . the only thing that is bothering you is that most people agree with the fact that Americans want to be on top in everything, which is understandable except the way they do it sometimes is extremely menacing.

On the Chinese, I far from adore them. I know what most Asians think of blacks and I know China's interest is only on improving their country. I know that China going to Nigeria and doing talks of building roads is only to help herself with oil and employ only Chinese people in engineering and building the roads. However, when the road wrecks then Nigerians are screwed. I know all these, and more but am willing to look at every picture before making a judgment. Thats better than being partial even when it is just plain ridiculous.

All that jive because no one wants to hear the bad when they already know it. So they rather be deceived with the good. Which is understandable. You have to remember that in the Olympics, it is USA vs. The world. Who gives a damn if you beat Great B, Italy, Germany, Mexico, and so on and so forth in a match. You might get a high five here and whoop whoop there. But if you beat USA, watch the world go crazy. So how do you not expect the US to be more competitive than any other country. They have an image to keep and defend.

I stayed up late to watch that Gold Match. I aint gonna lie. . . . i was little worried first half. I mean those spinless Argies were chunking threes like they don't care. I was just screaming at The Redeem Team. They were literally watching those Argies taking their time to set up their stance, get the right form and shoot. I was like "What the hell is this?". Then they brought in LeBrone and he just started chunking threes like no tomorrow. Then i guess the coach got hard on them during half time. Because they came back hungry and went on full beast mode. My favorite part was when the last few minutes the started playing "Born in the USA" It was a true show of how we took back what was rightfully ours. I was so proud and when they hopped up on that podium elbow to elbow, i was just over whelmed with pride. What a way to end a winning streak.

Yes im an igbo girl and proud of it. I am have a Nigerian citizenship because my parents are from there. And i have ALWAYS had an American citizenship. Thank you very much. Of course no country will take defeat easily. Look at some of those Middle Eastern countries who punished some of its players for losing. Winning means a lot. Why do you think some of these Nigerians of this thread went on a freakin hunger strike when they lost in soccer? Winning brings pride and happiness to a country. So of course being that China is not the favorite of any country will do anything to restore pride to its country.

It was  just the other day that I found out that their are Americans dying of starvation. I was flabbergasted at that. . . and that the mortality rate in Memphis Tenn. is as high as it is. I have been living here for four years and I didn't know that because Americans are so busy looking for the bad and the ugly in other countries. They tekk give a cent to help fly infested children in some no name African country ( they call the country Africa) while hunger and death are ravishing people who were born here and hold citizenship cards. Oh please. . . tell someone who was born yesterday about propaganda.  How many dateline, Nightline 20/20, 48hrs episode is the death of a white male or female throughly investigated when a black death is treated as a rodent trap or insignificant waste of time. Even in the nightly news a black man commits a crime their face gets well splattered and when I white crime is committed it is given a few seconds air time. The United States of America wrote, signed and patented the book on propaganda.

Oh stop your complaining. What do you want huh? Is it America's fault that you failed to take a little ownership of reading up on your host country's news? Do you want a national apology? Everyones knows not to rely on one source for information. Read a book, open a magazine, search the internet.
