u re hear speaking english and laughing at urself but hunger is killing we ur brothers here in oshogbo. Why do we yorubas like shying away from realities, why do we consider others more important than ourselves? Are we cursed? Why do we like to ridicule ourself. Pls lets stop clowning nd build respect for ourselves like ibos.

Useless maps showing lebensraum (like Hitler) when you can not even get an inch of land from the Ikweres or Anioma showing longthroat at all the other lands in Africa? 100 things about a still-born biafra, who cares, and you could not even list 5 without resorting to lies! Even living countries, states and peoples give things like this a rest because they don't need to write a lying article or thread about it: YOU KNOW! You just know if you are not dead, because it is always there! The only way biafra will ever have a chance to be an entity again is for ibos to support the calls for regionalism and follow that step up with the emergence of sovereign countries. Otherwise, Nigeria killed and buried biafra in 1970 and Philip Effiong surrendered the entire iboland as Nigeria. Ojukwu never even mentioned biafra when he returned from his exile run, I guess he came back with wisdom he never had as a 33 year old - something the OP is still missing today!
this is what some of we yorubas know how to do. No hope, no plan, no mission, no vision and no future of our own. Just troll others worthlessly. Are we created inferior or are we cursed?

Someone gave you a history that obviously you could not afford, im sure that even your parents are bereft of that knowledge else you would have learnt a little of it from home, you come online to call it half truth with zero input to the subject of discourse.
The Op asked why two similar scenarios produced different outcomes and you are telling us what started the civil war, where you asked that?

Give me two reasons why I shouldn't call you a very stup!d person?
ur brain is such a vacuum that u re ready to thank a liar for feeding u with the obvious. Go nd read ur history sincerely and discover that the name 'ibo coup' was a continuation of pre-coup ibophobic atmostphere which pervaded the political system. Ibos were relatively prosperous and controlled almost all sectors through hard work and merit. Academia business civil service and army. Northerners and yorubas sought for way to cut ibos to size. Remeber sarduanas speech about ibo domination, also akintolas speech about same (they re all on youtube)

remember majority of senior army officers were ibos. If there was goin to be coup and resistance the would naturally come from ibos and that was exactly what happened. But because there was already deep fear, hate and jealously against ibos, the nomencleture of ibo coup was an attempt to psychologically prepare themselves towards the elimination of their obstacle-ibos!
The nazi style genocide that followed showed ibophobia was behind everything.

Let us tell ourselves the truth

pick a good history book nd read and stop listening to liars. The same lie that has kept nigeria from moving foward.

PoliticsRe: President Buhari's Easter Message by Ooni: 12:25am On Mar 27, 2016
godson36:
Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari, on Saturday, assured of his administration’s commitment to ensure peace and security across the country.
Buhari, who stated this in an Easter message to Christians, which he personally signed, said his government would ensure the end of politically motivated killings in the country.
The statement read:

[s]“Fellow Nigerians,
I rejoice with you all, especially our Christian brothers and sisters, as we celebrate Easter.
For Christians all over the world, this celebration is in commemoration of the supreme sacrifice which made for the salvation of mankind.
The Gospels also tell us that during his earthly ministry, repeatedly urged his disciples and followers to “love one another as I have loved you”.

As we celebrate Easter this year, I sincerely believe that it will serve our dear nation very well if we all imbibe this essential message of and truly learn to love our countrymen and women as we love ourselves.
Indeed, we will surely make faster progress towards the achievement of the peaceful, united, strong, progressive and prosperous country we all desire if, as a nation, we eschew all divisive, parochial, ethnic and religious sentiments and rivalries, and begin to live more harmoniously with our compatriots, as and the founders of the world’s other great religions enjoined mankind.
Our unfortunate notoriety in recent years as a country where the blood of men, women and children are wantonly and callously shed in frequent orgies of criminal, political, ethnic and religious violence has become very embarrassing and utterly unacceptable.
My administration is determined to achieve greater peace and security across our nation by ending the avoidable conflicts and crises that hinder our national progress.
I ask for greater support from all Nigerians in this regard. We must put a stop to politically motivated killings. Our communities must be made safe again for all inhabitants to live together in peace and harmony.
Our armed forces, police and other security agencies are being progressively reformed, repositioned and empowered to win the war against terrorism and make mass killings, abductions and other criminal atrocities things of the past in our beloved country.
Let us all also play our parts as patriotic citizens and do all that we can to ensure that we make Nigeria a safer, more peaceful and happier place for its people and others.
Faith, belief and the fulfilment of expectations are also key themes of the Easter celebration. I urge you all therefore, to continue to have faith in the future greatness of our country and to believe that the CHANGE my administration promised will surely come to fruition.
That CHANGE, which we all yearn for, will certainly occur more rapidly if we all place the love of our country above selfish personal and group interests.
The National Assembly has just passed the 2016 budget. I assure all Nigerians that we will do our utmost best to ensure that the budget, the first since my election as President, is efficiently and successfully implemented towards achieving our objective of faster economic growth and development.
I thank the vast majority of Nigerians for their patience and understanding in the first ten months of this administration.
As we go forward, I assure you all that we are working very hard to overcome the challenges we encountered on assumption of office.
We are moving on with an unshaken resolve and determination to deliver on the mandate you gave us on March 28, last year.
I wish you all very happy Easter celebrations.
Muhammadu Buhari

The answer lies with political correctness.

first, it was not called an igbo coup for fun, it was called that in protest to the disproportionate assasination of the leadership at the time.
It is dishonest to say it was called an igbo coup based on the regional make up of the coup plotters that is very disingenuous of you.

people who did so at the time based their insinuations on the sparing of igbo leaders and the fact that an Igbo head of state inherited the government as a direct consequence of the coup.

Now that I presume you understand the basics, you will agree that when Aguiyi Ironsi became the head of state, his first duty will necessitate the trial of the coup plotters and serving justice for other regions who lost both political and Religious leadership (Northern region) that he never did.

It might equally interest you to note that a military court Marshall of that nature at the time takes less than 3 months yet Aguiyi Ironsi blatantly refused to do the right thing.
It took a dumb Kaduna Nzeogwu to grant an interview describing how he killed the Sardauna of Sokoto a supposed religious leader and the mockery that ensued.
That event led to his arrest yet no deadline was set for his trial and others.

That is the most bizzare political insincerity, miscalculation that completely aliegnated the igbos from the Tripartite handed to us by the British.

Let us now Juxtapose with the Murtalla Mohammed saga, he was assasinated, the next in command Olusegun Obasanjo did not wait to get a definition for the coup from the court of popular opinion rather he served his purpose as a head of state by rounding up the culprits and handed them death sentences.

That act of good faith endeared Obj to the Northerners and we saw a replay of that goodwill in 1999.
Obasanjo proved with that 1976 action that he learned from the history of the past decade, he equally proved that he is way smarter than Aguiyi Ironsi.

Rightly put, Obasanjo's ingenuity calmed would be reprisals of Murtalla 's murder.

A society without law, order, justice and rule of law easily degenerates to Anarchy.
such was the reality of the 1966 Nigeria's political space.
continue telling people lies and half truths. The major problem that resulted to the civil war was not even the killing of ironsi and co. But an organised terrorism in which every northerner participated in killing of armless ibos in the guise of pogrom. If the coup ended in a counter coup the civl war would have occurred. But i am sure the north and middle belt are paying for it. u think all these killings happening in Nigeria today is for fun? North re killing themselves in guise of terrorism while also extending their 'friendship' to middle belt through the herdsmen, and occassionary southwest

Northern nigeria is the only place in the world today were a group of pple are massacaring their own pple for no established reason nd u think it is ordinary?

I only fear for my yoruba pple

This man will spend the rest of his adult days in Jail. Ojukwu who is a professional Soldier, with Guns, Bombs, Soldiers and the Will even failed, and he just did not fail, but ran with his tail in between his legs to Ivory Coast.

And when he died, he was buried with the Nigerian "FLAG"

Chief Guy Ikokwu, should mind the way he uses the word "LEGEND" loosely. The Word "LEGEND" has not even been ascribed to the Greats of the Country like Isaac Adaka Boro, Obafemi Awolowo, Murtala Mohammed, let alone a Prostitute loving Albino.
this is why other tribes will never respect we yorubas. They will always come into our own territory and kill us, kill our children, rape our wives and burn our house as in mile 12. Why? because we yorubas dont respect ourselves. We re too antagonistic, we dabble into ibo and biafra things as if we re the only ethnic group in nigeria. We behave as if we need nigeria more than nigeria needs us. Dont u know that hausas will still use this our anti biafra rant against us. You feel ashamed to be a Yoruba ? So what happened in Mile 12 should have resulted into a big fracas ? Is that your point. I shake my head for you. You are under your comfort zone and you want people to start making trouble all the name of Yoruba must not agree. What stop you from starting from the Mallam shop next to your house or in your street. My brother, no tribe have monopoly of violence as there is never a winner in war. The little fracas happened at Mile 12 has left so many families in everlasting sorrow, so many house owners will forever be tenant, and yet you're not satisfied. We Yoruba's are Omoluabi and if you're ashamed to be associated with the tribe, you can port somewhere else where killing of innocent soul is celebrated and be an Hero in killing.
u are calling it little fracas...hausa invaded our own territory, killed, maimed, raped, burnt and left scott-free and u call it little fracas. I know we yorubas if an hausa kid calls a yoruba man barawo he will tell him thank sir. But they have gots to kill in our own place. Do u think what happened in mile 12 can happen in onitsha, aba or ph? No because Ibos wont allow it. Even the middle belt are getting wise. Only us left our problems and are talking abt ibos. Ijaw, hausa, tiv, efik, kanuri, igala and others dont talk about ibos the way we did. All over the country they now see us as fools because of this.

Do u think that deep within us we dont envy ibos? If any one of us yorubas think we dont envy ibos then the person is lying.
