One,the monetary offer from man city which was too much to turn down for his agent and two,the lure of being coached and managed by a very successful manager in pepe Guardiola!
Rodgers had successfully convinced sterling to stay and possibly sign a contract,but his agent refused!!

Can wanted to stay though but he was holding out to sign a new contract....he wanted to be paid more but when both parties refused to negotiate the right amount for the new contract,he waited until juventus would get him free of charge with a better amount compared to that of liverpool!
