They have traded and lived in peace with their Igbo neighbours for 1000 years before the bloody nation called Nigeria was created and lumped Igala people with northern Nigeria, instead of with southern Nigeria where they share a lot of cultural similarities with the Nsukka clan.

Nnebisi, the Asaba prince was an Igala man and the Onitsha main market became an important trading river port largely as a result of traders sailing down from Idah to conduct business there.

The Federal Government has brought in first set of Boko Haram suspects to Ekwulobia prison, and information from the prison says the indigenes have blocked the prison gate, also there is a high presence of soldiers and prison guards, with armored cars all across the prison yard.
