Lmaooooo! Jeez ain't u organz? Y are u talking bro....organ no dey talk...now lemme SKUL u bro in d alpha male game
There are 3 types of gehs.....good,bad n ugly.....
A good geh won't bring her friends n of course won't look like an EBINA...
A bad geh will ask for tfare to d venue n ask for d most expensive item on d menu....n eat hungry like dat day is her last on earth......EBINA 1
D ugly ones are d crass n razz gehs who exist only to eat..n eat..n eat anyway, anyhow without any shame whatsoever n believe men only exist to serve them coz they got a hole between their legs.....they bring in 2 or 3 of their friends for a cookout their generation can't pay for n just grabs everything in sight....classless n shameless...n in d process embarrassing d guy who was unfortunate enough to ask them out..they always look chick on d outside so its on a date u get to see their true colours....EBINA 2
Now to DAT fateful day.....ur wrong to think I had no cash with me....had 20k straight from d ATM with me before going to d rendezvous....since its on first date I came prepared....imagine my surprise n anger when d geh turned out with 2 odas all to play me for a fool...wasn't even bothered bro till they just looked me over n said hi n ordered for d menu straight away like they own d place....d geh I invited exchanged pleasantries with me like 2mins n joined her friends haggling n huffing over d menu like diarrheic hyenas.....they clearly meant to chop me n go...I had no problems standing up right there n then n cancelling the date bro but I wanted to teach them a lesson they won't forget in a hurry because they have obviously been doing that to other guys( a geh once told me this same scenario of how she n her friends wreck guys when on a date n one time like dat d guy won cry coz him money don finish n he only took BOTTLED water...imagine) n getting away with it.....
For d plan to work I had to make em relaxed so I told em to be free n eat up....watching as d EBINAs crowed n cooed as soft drinks were served them while they placed orders.... They didn't even bother looking at me twice when I excused myself to go to d restroom....for d plan to work I had to involve d guard n tipped him too( very eager after dat) with a promise to come back some days after to hear d full gist..
So bro...it wasn't d fear to confront them or lack of machismo o but the urge to make sure those gehs won't ever do dat to another guy without thinking twice

For this detailed lesson.....u owe me a BOW!!! grin
Ok, Understood. What is the followup on the girl, did she call you and curse you out? did you guys have a discussion about it later, i wan know wetin happen with you and the girl, cos you obviously have each others number.

Make you learn from the MASTER ok? Make i teach you as we dey do am. See here, no shame there, if i were in your shoes, i will tell her categorically and from the onset that i was not expecting her and her friends, if i dont have enough money, i will tell them right there and then the date is cancelled cos i did not prepare for all that. Now, if i can afford the food, i will tell them to go ahead and order and if i see they are taking advantage, i will say No, no you cannot have that, and if anyone should give me attitude, i will ask if they will rather pay for it? It is my money i am in control and if i see they are not being reasonable, i will control what is ordered and if you don't like it, the alternative is that you pay for it period. So next time, bros, you don't have to bail, sit down and be in CONTROL and whoever does not like it can get up and leave, shikena.

[quote author=markpenk post=56616456]While you do have a point about her seeming emphasis on materialism, the reality is that she's being very practical. When it comes down to it,
romance is largely fueled and encouraged by finance and the same materialism you so ardently oppose. Without that, it's only a matter of time before the romance, compatibility and understanding go out the window.

I also think that she already assumed that all those things you mentioned -love and compatibility- were already a given. it's easy to try to see marriage through rose colored lenses, assuming that love would eventually cover all things. But, marital and relationship problems are often largely practical.

So, while I understand your perspective and agree that those things are just as important, the reality is that the things she mentioned too as just as important.

Excellently written by "Hedonistic".

May God bless you abundantly. It is sickening how shallow, materialistic, and daft most of us Nigerians are.

The truth is that only less than 1 percent of Nigerians are truly wealthy enough to be immune to poverty, no matter what, for life. Most people who think they are very comfortable because of their so called good job are just over broke (JOB)... Just one snap of a finger away from abject poverty, frustration and death.... If the vicissitudes of life hit you, your so-called rosy life would come crashing down. You think you're cool because you have one high paying job.... Who says you can't lose that job. Who says that your house you managed to build can't be lost to one ugly incident or the other... Who says that your car that's making you feel cool with yourself can't be lost to an accident or sold off to cover a debt, or whatever? All sorts have happened in this life. It is foolish to choose a life partner on the basis of very flimsy and temporal considerations.

Truth is, God forbids for me to even consider a girl that thinks I am worthy/ready for marriage only because I have xyz job or xyz business, or have a car, or have "international exposure" (can you imagine? ). These are all temporal pieces of nonsense. I know men who had several cars yesteryear but have none today. Ditto those who had nothing yesteryear and have many today. Unfortunately, It's really not about potential, ambition or whatever. Life is unpredictable and poo happens anyhow it wants to.

These kinds of slow girls with shallow mentalities are only useful for flings and casual affairs. Make them your WIFE at your own risk. Marriage is one long and unpredictable journey, that's why the 'for better or for worse' principle is applicable.

markpenk:
Well... I don't see how her requests are very unreasonable. Before the guys bite my head off, please hear me out cheesy grin. It's clear the girl has/lives a different reality than most Nigerians, but also, one that's actually more common than you'd think. if your parents can afford to send you to CU, chances are you're already comfortable. So, a chick like that is bound to assume that basic needs will be met. After all, that's her current reality.

Per her requirements, my particular focus is on the following:

1. Income, Shelter and Provision - Ideally, no guy should think of settling down without a decent source of income, nice apartment, mobility, and the capability to feed the family. let's be honest here: who would want their daughters or sisters to marry someone without this? It's a basic necessity.

2. Acceptance of Wild Past- Well, she's flexible here. At least she's mature enough to understand that a guy can have a past. As long as he's outgrown it, that's okay.

3. No Children from Past Relationships -Well, this is a given for most people. Let's face it, Nigerians hate the After-1's. In fact, your parents probably wouldn't give their accent to your relationship with anyone who already has a child out of wedlock. The rare exceptions where this might be acceptable to the parents would be if the guy or gal is very comfortable, pretty, incredibly well mannered, has very good connects or their child is getting too old for marriage.

4. Education and Global Exposure -This is mandatory these days. After all, you don't want to marry an uneducated person with a very limited worldview and/or one that's not presentable. If you do, chances are you'll become the butt of jokes among your friends, colleagues and your local community (see Patience Jonathan for example). With the rate at which everyone's forming "phoneh" now and access to the internet/cable TV, it'd be hard to not want this or at least someone who is articulate and intelligent, even if lacking the accent or pedigree.

Where our paths diverge is the physical description, no intimacy till marriage rule, and tribe. You probably wouldn't find all these qualities in any guy from one tribe. And if you do, chances are he's already married or is a playa. grin

Whatever the case though, to each his own. if this is what floats her boat and helps her sleep at night, good luck to her. Just hope she won't be at Shiloh and Holy Ghost Congress in 4/5 years begging God for any available man. grin cheesy

Bros i disagree with you on so many levels. The list is all centered on materialism first and nothing on compatibility and relationship. Usually you have a girlfriend, you like each other and you get married and make it work. Most marriages these days, and this particular request and your analysis is based on the fact that we can only be compatible if we both see what you're bringing to the table then and only then we try to make stuff work, nonsense. you meet, based on behaviour, character etc fall in love, get married and build a life together its still the best way period. Know also that the marriage she wants that you alluded to is not sustainable if any of those elements should cease to exist, for example loss of job or sickness etc cos the marriage is a contract solely based on these factors.

I hate to burst your bubble, but when I see how we ascribe other people's work to Africans, just to look good, I wonder if there is so much mediocrity and paucity of ideas in the land in terms of science and tech.
