You got it totally wrong bro. Oyedepo could not have seen it as he could only see what was shown to him by God. People like you could have said the same thing in Jesus's time when he caused the fig tree. You could have said he should have known that there would not be any fruits hanging on the tree. Only God is OMNISCIENCE.

Health / Re: Hepatitis B; From A Medical Laboratory Scientist Perspective by Oseniade(m): 9:55pm On Jun 27, 2018
DAY 2
It has been a busy day for me; am sorry for posting this late. Today we will talk about those who eventually comes out positive. What to do and how to go about it. Caveat: This information should not be used as a Medical advice but for sharing of knowledge. You should in conjunction with your Doctor.
As an Hepatitis B Patient, your Doctor will probably recommend some tests that include but not limited to the following :
i. E/U/Cr: This stands for Electrolyte, Urea and Creatinine. Majorly it is used to test the `functionality of the kidney'. In other words it is to show whether you don't have Kidney related disease as Hepatitis B drugs can really affect your kidneys in a bad manner if care is not taken.
ii) LFT: This stands for `Liver function test`. It contains ALT(Alanine Transaminase) which is majorly significantly raised when d Liver is going extremely bad. Is also raised in Heart related problem but mainly for Liver
AST(Aspartate Transaminase) which is mainly raised in Heart diseases and also in Liver problems
ALP (Alkaline phosphatase) :Mainly for bone diseases and liver problem
BILIRUBIN: Raised in Hemolytic diseases(abnormal Red blood cells breakdown) etc.
Some facilities run Albumin test and Total Protein too. Albumin is the major binding Protein in the body. It binds to so many things like drugs. So you must have enough in your body. Total Protein in other words is the protein produced in your body. Why these are important is because the Liver is the production site for Albumin and Total Protein and hence both test the synthetic function of the liver.
In other words, LFT = ALT + AST+ BILIRUBIN + ALP ± ALBUMIN ± TOTAL PROTEIN.
When all these have been done, you will now be requested to go and do the following too:
iii) Hepatitis B Profile: This is like 5 test in 1. It has Hepatitis B surface Antigen, Hepatitis B Antibody, Hepatitis B core Antigen, Hepatis B Envelope Antigen and Hepatitis B core Antibody. All these have their individual functions and the `Hepatitis B Profile` on its own placed the patient in one or more categories which is used to help the patient at arriving at the best method to tackle the disease. For instance, you might be a Chronic Hepatitis B carrier or Acute Hepatitis B etc.
iv) Hepatitis B viral load: This test usually involved the use of molecular method like PCR(Polymerase Chain Reaction). It gives the replication time per seconds. In layman terms, this gives the amount of the viral DNA the patient carries in his or her blood. It is relatively expensive to do.

Health / Hepatitis B; From A Medical Laboratory Scientist Perspective by Oseniade(m): 12:18am On Jun 26, 2018
Good day fellow Naira landers and how is your day going? I am a Medical Laboratory Scientist by training. For the next few days I will delve into Hepatitis B prevention, treatment etc from a Medical Laboratory Scientist view. I will try as much as possible to use layman terms for `a larger audience appreciation` and I will be brief as much as possible. It will be sectioned into days for easier follow up. Thanks.

Day 1
Today I will talk about a little history, testing, contraction and vaccine.

History : Hepatitis B is caused by a virus, hence it is a viral infection. It affects majorly the liver and can cause the infected person to develop liver cirrhosis (cancer of the liver). The liver is a highly functioning organ that to a large extent tolerate a lot of abuse. The liver can get damaged to as much as 70% before the sufferer noticed that there is something wrong with his or her system. Hence the need to get tested as soon as possible

Testing: Whenever you visit a good medical Laboratory and you request for Hepatitis B testing, what they do is to test for the Surface Antigen which is abbreviated as HBsAg(Hepatitis B surface Antigen). If you are positive for Hepatitis B you are said to be HBsAg positive and if otherwise, you are said to be HBsAg Negative.

Contraction: You contract Hepatitis B ( shortened as Hep B) majorly from sex and exchange of infected body fluids (blood, breastmilk, semen etc) and also mother to child transmission (during the course of delivery there is usually exchange of bodily fluids in which infected mother can transmit the virus to her baby)

Prevention: The number 1 prevention is abstinence from sex. You can also take Hepatitis B vaccine which prevents you from ever contracting it. The vaccine are given in 3 dosages(3 shots) intramuscular on your arm at an intervals of like 8 weeks to about 6 months depending on what is in place at where it is being administered. After your last shot, you are given another shot in 10 years time and this is what is referred to as booster dose. You should note that if for any reason you are positive, Hep B vaccines will not work for you; hence you have to go for treatment.
The vaccine works by stimulating your body system to produce what is called `Hepatitis B surface Antibodiesʼ which act as the primary body defender if for any reason you come in contact with the virus.
Thanks.

DerMeister:
Does hepatitis C have a vaccine? If one has taken Hep B vaccine, does one need booster shots years later?

Currently Hepatitis C does not have vaccine. It is only Hepatitis B that does. For Hepatitis B, you take 3 shots with a later booster dose after 10 years.
Health / Re: HIV & AIDS In Nigeria: Please You Must Read This Story And Be Warned by Oseniade(m): 6:59pm On Jun 16, 2018
I am a Laboratory Scientist by training. Hepatitis B is even more widespread than HIV and fortunately it has vaccine. Peradventure you got infected with Hepatitis B, you will spend more than #500000 to get a cure. That is the bitter truth. Vaccine that cost less than #5000. GET tested today and save yourself a myriads of problems in the future.

Health / Differences In The ABO Blood Group System by Oseniade(m): 11:41pm On Nov 03, 2016
Good day everyone out there. Today I will be discussing briefly what makes a particular 'human blood' different from another. What i want to discuss is called ABO blood group system out of over 400 blood group system known. It is one of the two most immunologically important blood group system (the other being Rhesus blood group system).
You probably have learnt that you are of a particular blood group vis-à-vis A+, B+, AB+ O+, A-, B-, AB- and O-.
Before I delve into that, there is something called H gene. The inheritance of it at conception changes a precursor substance present on the red cells to H substance through a transferase enzyme.
Individuals with A blood group has an A gene which produce a transferase enzyme (1,3 N-acetylgalactosaminyl transferase) that convert the H substance into A antigen which is present on the red cell.
Individuals with B blood group has B gene which produce a transferase enzyme (1,3 galactosyl transferase) that convert the H substance into B antigen which is present on the red cell.
Individuals with AB blood group has both A and B genes and thus employ both transferase enzymes mentioned above to convert the H substance into A and B antigen which is present on the red cells.
Individuals with O blood group have an inactive transferase enzyme so that the H antigen remain unchanged on the red cells.
Whether you are Positive or Negative (as in A Positive; A+ etc ) is another blood group classification on its own called Rhesus blood grouping system. It has nothing to do with what I discussed earlier.

SUMMARY: Distinguishing feature that makes one blood group different from another one is as a result of the presence or absence of these so called Antigens on your red cells.
It should be noted that no blood group is superior to another. Everyone is unique on its own. After all, variety is the spice of life.
Thank you for your time.

Who is to blame? When u c a golden opportunity. You take it; or you expect them not to look for a better source of livelihood. The only thing I won't subscribe to is for them to still be collecting their salary back home. They should respectfully resigned their appointment and pay the government back any debt incurred by them. This is why I don't advocate all these government agreement that you bind you for sometime making you not to leave if one so desires.
Health / Re: Why Do Most Nigerian Men Develop A Pot Belly Stomach So Early? by Oseniade(m): 12:42am On Oct 20, 2016
I once read a report that itvis a physiological adaptation for men to accumulate fat in their stomach region unlike women who accumulate in theirs in their thigh, arm etc. Since women naturally conceive; nature has found a way of preventing the accumulation of fat in the stomach region(except of course the flaccidity of the abdominal muscles as a result of pregnancy when eventually delivered). It was even alleged that ladies who undergo hysterectomy will have pot-belly like their male counterpart.
