Nairaland GeneralHunter Shoots Monkey, Dead Monkey Changes To Man by osisi2(op): 8:48pm On Mar 08, 2009
Hunter kills man who turned to monkey

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

LINK: SUNDAY TRIBUNE

A 30-year-old man, Mustapha Sanni, who allegedly turned to a monkey was killed by a hunter at Abudoro forest in Sangobon village in Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State.

Mr. Ezekiel Adeyemo, Sunday Tribune gathered last Sunday at 3 p.m went to Abudoro forest for hunting. While in the forest, he saw a monkey on the tree and Adeyemo aimed his dane gun and shot at the supposed animal which died immediately.

When the animal fell from the tree, Adeyemo found that it was not a monkey but one Mustapha Sanni who lived in the same village with him.

According to the hunter, Sanni used to go to the forest to fetch sponge which he in turn sold at the market. The hunter, after the incident, it was gathered, immediately went to the village to inform the elders, the police and family of the deceased.

The remains of Sanni were picked from the forest by the police which intended to carry out autopsy and investigation but the family objected and insisted on immediate burial since the deceased was a Muslim.

The Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) DSP Olabisi Okuwobi confirmed the incident saying that the hunter who had since been detained at the Moniya police station will soon be transferred to the State CID for proper investigation.

RichyBlacK:
Yes, they happen in the East, but they also happen in the West. I have lived in the West (Lagos and Oyo states) and the East (Abia and Enugu states) and I can tell you that it happens in both regions. And those who practice it are deviants.

The Chief of Police said:

Mr. Aghedo said. Cannibalism is a taboo in Lagos, but in some parts of Nigeria, especially, in the south east states of Cross River and Calabar, human meat eating is not strange.

The statement does not imply cannibalism is a standard practice in the Eastern states. It is also a taboo in the East, not only Lagos.

Let me tell you what the problem is, too many Nigerians living west of the River Niger have *never* traveled to the east of the River Niger. They hear things and conclude, holding on to stereotypes that have been propagated by those before them.
No he didn't see that.
Calabar is now an Igbo state
I made your last point on another thread.
The problem with these our Yoruba friends is that they are stuck in one place.
Many of them have parents and grandparents who fled the villages to the cities and never go back talk less of visiting other areas in Nigeria.
They sit in Ijebuode and tell you how evil everyone else is where as these are the people who ancestors exported voodoo and hoodoo to the world when others were exporting palm kennel.
Go to New Orleans,Brazil and Haiti and othera areas of the Caribbean and see  their gift to the world
Cele, cherubim and seraphim and other ritualistic churches are their invention.
For a Yoruba son or daughter to point fingers at anyone for Rituals, killings and Cannibalism is laughable since there's enough evidence to show that it obtains in their territory if not worse
CultureRe: Re-visiting The Clifford Orji Story , A Decade Later. by osisi2(op): 9:33pm On Mar 06, 2009
Osisi, you are talking out of your arse.
Cannibalism is a standard practise in the East. Ritualists are everywhere in Nigeria. Don't be such a numbskull!!!
The Otokoto saga still lingers in me memory not to talk of the skulls dug out of Okija Shrine.
Babalawos recommending human intenstines is hogwash. . . . . .I won't buy that from you at all.
May Amadioha scatter your fathers compound and set you on fire. grin
you wouldn't know the truth even if bit you you on your supersized ikebe

U are a nannygoat and common sense evades you.
Evil exists wherever but Cannibalism is part of the culture of the Igbos.
Of course, seeing that there are more Igbos in Lagos than yorubas in Igbo states. . . .It's only natural for your culture to be rubbing off on Yoruba people in Lagos. Clifford Orji said with his own mouth that eating people is part of y'all culture and you are here disputing like a lobotomised ape.
Go get some peppermint, your breath stinks.
Lobotomised ape ?
have you looked dn the mirror lately or looked around to see what group descended from apes?
think OBJ ma dear
I can see Clifford is your hero.
The 10 people who patronized him besides his accomplice are probably your kiths and kin.

More like Clifford would put your sagging mammary glands on display in Oshodi as BBQ if you mis-waka(He attacks women only).
The market comptroller of Jankara market is an Igbo man so stop being a pillock.
Like i have said. . . . .For equilibrium to be restored in Nigeria, an asteroid must collide with all the generation of the flesh eating people in Igboland.
Buncha irritating savages!!!!!
Look at this bufoon!
Do you think we are like y'all that move to Lagos and never return to your villages not even at Christmas because your grandmothers and aunties are calling in you in the mirror wanting to use your eyes and genitals for rituals and intestines to cure their athritis?

~Sauron~:
We can as well conclude his real name is not Clifford Orji(A mad man wouldn't have known his name).
Whatz more?? He didn't EAT those people he claimed. It was a set-up.
Yoruba men were responsible for the cannibalism in Lagos and Clifford Orji(being a naked man) had to be the fall guy.
What a dolt!!!!

U have the brain power of a pubic louse.
You are as moronic as they come
Who is here defending Clifford Orji?
He was caught with human meat and his actions are despicable no sane person doubts that.
So was his accomplice Tahiru
Your arguments that cannibalism is foreign amongst Yorubas has been picked apart and  you're running from Okija to Damaturu like Tahiru.
Are there Cannibals in Igboland
Of course there are and Clifford is an example
Are there Cannibals in Yorubaland
I just gave you 3
Cannibalism exists wherever humans exist.
You said Yorubas are specialist in rituals and I provided you with evidence that some babalawos recommend eating of human intestines to cure ailments and you're frothing in the mouth.
What do you call that?
Cannibalism or they're just Omnivores?
And that doesn't even mean such things don't obtain in other areas including Igboland.
Evil exists wherever humans exist.
Until you get it into that thick coco nut head of yours that evil comes in all tribes, I'll be here waiting to make a minced meat of your little idiotic stereotypes you drank off the mammaries.

There are no cannibals in Yoruba land. It's a fucking taboo.
Of course, Yorubas are into money rituals, selling human parts and all other shiznits but WE DON'T EAT PEOPLE.
Clifford told the media he eats people and it's their CULTURE to EAT people. Admit it loser. . . . .

Tahiru is Tahiru Aliyu

The crowd then turned their attention to a man they knew to be Orji’s

found a 4m pit underneath where some of the victims were kept before they
were killed and cooked.

Idiot!
With your half brained self you couldn't figure out that Tahiru is a typical Yoruba name borne by Muslims.
If he was eating human meat before coming to Lagos,is there a possibility he met up with Tahiru in abeokuta before relocating?
How come he only picked up human eating 7 years prior, isn't culture part of someone?
Could he be referring to his and Tahiru's culture?
Or are you too thick to grasp that people use "it's our culture" to also mean "it's our habit"
The article clearly tells us Cliffords last name and where he hails, and deliberately left out details of tahiru for whatever reason.
I can bet you if he were Igbo, the article would have told us his hometown too
.
What evidence do you have that Tahiru is an Igbo man?
You must be as stupid as you sound.
The same way you told us the other 2 human peppersoup eaters were also Igbo because your deranged mind couldn't accept that cannibals could be Yoruba or come from any place besides Igboland despite the evidence.

IGBO AND IGBO CULTURE ON WORLD STAGE

This is a win-win situation for us. Do not let it pass you

We have an unprecedented opportunity to place our name as a people and our culture on the world stage for this generation and others yet to come.

AN IGBO VILLAGE IN STAUNTON, VIRGINIA will place us where we want to be.

This is a project of the Frontier Culture Museum of Virginia (FCMV) in its effort to recognize and honor ethnic cultures that influenced the frontier Virginian culture. FCMV is developing its West Africa Exhibit, which will be represented by a traditional Igbo compound. This is a rare honor and recognition of the contributions of our ancestors in the development and emergence of the present State of Virginia. This compound will have houses with decor, arts, crafts and surrounding vegetation from the 18th century Igbo Nation.  All materials for the construction by the Museum staff have been imported from Ala Igbo. The Frontier Culture Museum has found a solution to the problem of getting experts from Nigeria to guide the construction of the Igbo compound in Staunton, VA. Dr. Maduawuchi Ogbonna, Nwafo Igbo who resides here in the United State has accepted to direct the building of the houses. Volunteers are needed to build this Igbo Village to the eternal glory of our ancestors and our homeland.

The Igbo Compound Construction will take place from June 8 to July 7, 2009.
Volunteers are needed to assist Dr. Ogbonna and museum staffing in building this eternal landmark memorial to our ancestors who gave their life, skills and labor to develop the State of Virginia. This will also be a once in a lifetime chance to learn firsthand how to build traditional Igbo houses. Be a part of this historic event.

Each volunteer will receive a certificate of appreciation from the FCMV, two complimentary passes for future visits, and up-dates on the exhibit and its supporting programs

Volunteers can choose any number of days including weekends they will be available to help. Make it a summer vacation event and bring your family, as there will be activities for the entire family at the Frontier Museum.

Accommodation: There will be free accommodations at the Hampton Inn, Staunton, VA.  Ten double occupancy rooms available per week.  June 8 through July 7, 2009.

Feeding: Lunch provided by the FCMV daily.

Transportation: FCMV will provide transportation daily from Hotel to and from the Construction site.

Call or email Dr. Kanayo K. Odeluga, Coordinator of Igbo volunteers (2196775526) or kenenna88@yahoo.com) or Dr. Jeff Ohanaja (World Igbo Congress, Inc. (8328896982) for more information.

All these my tribe is better than yours threads . . .*sighs*

@ topic
When this Clifford Orji story came out, it was not treated as the issue--- "Igbo people are cannibals"--- as illiterate and tribalistic nairalanders have tagged it. Also, it had nothing to do with any propaganda by the Yoruba media against Igbo people. It is only natural for Orji to be the case in point because Tahiru was just an accomplice and as it appeared Orji was the leader.Notwithstanding, I have been told by Igbo people (not another "enemy" tribe) I have interacted with that there's a place in Abia state where they eat human flesh. Maybe it is used as a scare tactic, I don't know and I don't care.
2 men were captured and evidence showed that both men captured, killed and ate people and we don't even know Tahiru's last name
Before now,I doubt if any persons who had mentioned that story ever knew there was a co eater in the crime.
That's the awareness I'm creating here because on several ocassions Sauron and several other Yoruba nairalanders have called Igbos cannibals and cited Clifford Orji not knowing that his partner was a SouthWesterner
.
At least now, they also know the real truth.
Clifford was a madman who just happened to be Igbo.

Hey sweety kiss

Let me tell you certain facts from my own observation:

Igbo men marry Igbo women

Igbo women marry Yoruba men(most cases the Yoruba men are very very rich ::ego talks: )

Yoruba men are very open to other tribes(compared to Igbo men)

Igbo men marry Yoruba women if and only if ego is there in abundance

Igbo men invest in relationships

Igbo women only date very rich guys irrespective of their tribes :bling bling:

Yet there are exceptions, depending on the family background of your love(lover, boyfriend, girlfriend, partner) and your love for each other.

I am not Igbo by the way, i once dated an Igbo guy and he wanted to use style to find out how rich i was . . . hehe cool
There could be different reasons why he doesn't want any commitment. And only him and God knows why. All you need to do is pray about it and ask for God's will to be done.

You could also discuss the issue(Igbo men and Yoruba women) with him. I hope for you he tells you the REAL reason why he doesn't wanna marry you

Goodluck sis kiss

how come na me come marry the Igbo man without ego?

I am not trying to start a tribal war. I do love this guy. We are not currently together in a relationship, but I want him back. He tells me that he still loves me and I can see by his actions towards me that he still does. He's just telling me that he doesn't want to be in a committed relationship right now.

A lot of peple are telling me their war stories about their personal experiences with igbo men or someone close to them's experience and it is all sounding the same. They are telling me that it was probably his parents that don't want him with a yoruba girl. But, I keep telling people that his parents embraced me from the begining. People tell me that the mother may be pretending with me so that I don't blame her for the end of the relationship.

So, I posted my question to ask is this usually true with some igbo parents (not all). Do they pretend to like the girl just to cover up. His parents are in Nigeria, so I don't see them all the time. I still love him, but everyone is telling me that I am wasting my time.
Forget about his parents and stories you've heard from Okonkwo and Funmilayo and focus on the highlighted part.
This has absolutely nothing to do with tribe
The man has told you he's not interested in a commited relationship right now and you're still pursuing him.

I'm sure you saw this coming at some point but her beauty blinded you.
You'll pick more carefully next time.

I'm a good example of such.

that woman doesn't love you and she said it clearly by her action and fianally put it in words.
There's no woman anywhere on God's earth that'll abandon a spouse she loves because she doesn't want to have another baby.
That was just a cop out.

d mum obviously supports her action as she has refused to respond to invitations frm my family for a discussion. we are actually not in good terms due to an earlier incident (she was askin for too much stuff and i decided to ignore her). she insists i come and apologize to her first b4 she intervenes. btw she's a divorcee who raised her kids mostly alone
Not to dog on single mom's but offsprings of single mothers see nothing in seperating from spouses even for the flimsiest reasons.
Your mother in law is not a good person.
If my daughter moved out of her matrimonial home and told me the reason she  came was because she didn't want to be impregnated by her husband,I'll take her to an obgyn to insert an IUD device and buy her 12 cartons of condoms and send her back to her husband.

You need to move on
and if you're a Christian ,you can freely marry another woman because the Bible says that if the unbelieving wife leaves, you are free to re-marry.
