PoliticsRe: Obasanjo Has No Choice But To Back GEJ In 2015 – Presidency. by OsunOriginal: 1:17pm On Jan 07, 2013
Gbawe: You are right but your point will never register with emotional folks who forget that, after all is said and done, democracy remains a game of numbers. The dynamics influencing the actions of the 'players' in 2015 will be very different to that which saw GEJ emerge the PDP candidate for the 2011 election. Let us just watch as events play out. PDP members have total discretion over their own kingmaking activities. The rest of us can only watch and enjoy the show.
Whichever way it goes, PDP will lose general election. If GEJ loses his party nomination, he will ensure PDP loses to the opposition - it will be like saying, it is either me or nobody. This is good for opposition.

If GEJ forces himself on PDP, he will be more isolated and rigging election will be tough for him. Also good for the opposition.

And what do you hope to get from his support? PDP to win Ogun state or where?

A dey laugh - a man that can't win election for his daughter will win votes for GEJ - waiting to see how that will happen.

PoliticsRe: Obj’s Kaduna Visit Stirs Jonathan, Sambo Tension by OsunOriginal: 9:21am On Jan 07, 2013
Abagworo: Call me whatever you like but the history is there for all of us to see. Obasanjo gave power to Shagari, Yar'Adua and Jonathan. All were at will and none of the elections were free and fair. He paid a personal visit to Boko Haram and came out alive. He went to Ghana and rigged for the incumbent and the world accepted it. So tell me who is more powerful.

I still repeat that Nigeria needs a strong man as our President. Jonathan did well in my assessment but cannot control the people because he's not strong and has zero military background.
You should be ashamed as a Nigerian that one man choses who he wants as president even in a democratic setup where the people should be one chosing their leader. That a sitting outgoing president forces his will, through manipulation and power of incumbency, on the people is not something a sane person/Nigerian should be proud of.

The same OBJ that could not make his daughter win an election after leaving office is now your kingmaker. Stop deceiving your primitive mind, OBJ is nobody again in Nigerian politics looking at from any angle - within PDP or outside of PDP. The man is only ranting now that he has been side-tracked in PDP. What he did to others when he was in power will be metted out to him by GEJ/Anenih I am sure - you will see and I will be very happy to watch the drama.

OBJ should first win Ogun for PDP to prove his popularity and kingmaking.

And regarding the popularity of OBJ in South West PDP - of course yes. Who else do they have in South West apart from OBJ? Bode George or Oyinlola or Alao Akala? OBJ still remains the strongest PDP man in South West but being strong in a party is different from being strong in the region politically.
PoliticsRe: GEJ: In Praise Of Corruption by OsunOriginal: 9:40pm On Jan 06, 2013
luluosas: The problem here is your generalizing the whole Igbo race as the troubles/problems. The Hausas, the Yorubas, the Ibos and every other single ethnic tribe in Nigeria including yours, have at one time and the other be responsible for the challenges we are facing today as a nation. Do you doubt this?
Must we continue with the old destructive tradition? If you become president of Nigeria tomorrow, are you going to continue to do things and thhink like the uncivilized leaders that have ruled this country in the past?

We all have to change - the Igbos much change their orientation likewise other ethinic groups.
PoliticsRe: Can GEJ Really Win In 2015 by OsunOriginal: 10:36pm On Jan 05, 2013
Maxymilliano: GEJ will win fair and square in 2015 election if he so choose to contest. The only threat so far to this ambition is Buhari, but he still need to do more. Opinion about him is not much different from the incumbent; subjective that is.

Election is a game of numbers, based on popularity and acceptance, not by outright misinformation and sustained campaign of calumny from disgruntled quarters, last time I checked, GEJ still lead the pack.
Going by the opinion poll from your village... I dont know when your village is now representative of the opinion of all Nigerians.

luluosas: What's is your beaf with me as a person on this thread? If you choose not to understand my point over this whole matter, why should you assume and concludes that I am an Igbo man? By the way, what has the Igbo nation done to you as a person?
Do they have to do something wrong to me personally before I cry out? And whoevever creates problem fo the country weather as a leader or follower is creating problem for me because I am a Nigerian living in Nigeria. Whoever is not thinking right is a problem for me personally. I have found Igbos to be too bigoted and hate filled that they lose their senses all the time when it comes to discussing national issues.
PoliticsRe: The Most Respected & Honoured Man In Nigeria Currently by OsunOriginal: 10:01pm On Jan 05, 2013
Of couse any sane person will know the person is Buhari. Whoever can float a polical party without money and gathering so much followership and support within a short period of time is truly respected and accepted by the people - 12 million human beings voting for a candidate without monitory inducement, etc. Except if speaking grammar on TV, Radio, Social media, at lectures etc amount to popularity.

The likes of Pat Utomi, Wole Soyinka, etc have floated political party to test their popularity and we saw how popular/accepted they were at the pool.

What else can you use to test popularity if not democratic elections?

luluosas: The Nigerians are me, you, everybody born a NIGERIAN. Is anything too difficult to understand there? Visit any thread here on Nairaland featuring Gen. Buhari for anything and see for yourself, the dept at which Nigerians hate the personality of Gen. Buhari. Thank you.
And count the number of Buhari haters by tribe - 99% are Igbos. Are Igbos who are minority representative of Nigerians as a whole? Igbos that can't make one of their own president wants to determine who becomes the president of Nigeria? How does that make sense?

My friend, stop deceiving yourself, Buhari still remains the most popular politician in Nigeria today. Who among the politicians even those in PDP can pull out of the party and form a brand new party and gathering so much followship/trust that cut across without even spending money? IBB with all his illicit money can't do this.

Patriotic Nigerians were using their money to print posters for Buhari and campaigning on his bahalf while Igbos were sweating to see how much money/political positions they could get from PDP.

You guys should be ashamed of yourselves - you reprent nothing that any sane person can talk about.

Nigeria shld be grateful to such Igbo men and women as Okonjo Iweala, Ezekwesili, Prof Chinue Achebe, Prof Maurice Iwu, Don Jazzy, Chidinma, P.Square, Flavour etc etc for for laundering the image of Nigeria.
So Iwu na Igbo? No wonder he was such a shameless fraudstar. What's an election rigger doing in the lab? His claim needs to be investigated thoroughly to be sure the fraudstar is not trying to play a fast one again.

rhymz: so all the pple that migrate to Lagos sell gala and do not add anything to the coffers of Lagos state, what a stoopid assertion to make. You are a joke carried away by emotions and a foolish need to win an argument.
Man stop just talking for the sake of it. What does a state benefit from people selling Gala and people riding okada? If they are farmers or even artisans, a may support you. These people that dont pay tax. These people that turn to armed robbery later. Yet we compete for roads, house, water, electricity, market, etc with them.

Can they move to Akwa Ibom state since the state has now been transformed to Dubai?

agabaI23: Buhari will fit that description more. Gra no be competence

Any proof of him turning the country into Afghan. I think it was the desperate politician who wants to oust him that perpetrated the bomb blasts

>80% CPC stalwart were members of that cult, Ruma comes to mind

If he did not play cool and plunged the country into tumoil, you would have claimed he was desperate to take over

Ruma, Abacha, Marwa and Sule Hamman an exconvict now heading his campaign organisation easily come to mind

That is so true: Buhari: Abacha, Buhari:Ruma and Buhari: Sule Hamman(a man he jailed for massive corruption in the 80s)

I understand your pain but you have always loved Buhari grin

And one who told his followers not vote for a Christian and supported national introduction of Sharia law
Woud you shut up your mouth and allow Nigerians to show us how they will vote in 2015? The subject of this thread is clear enough - why you will never vote for Jonathan?

If you will vote for Jonatha, your opinion is not needed because we already know why you will vote for him - tribalism, religious bigotry, nepotism and every other wrong reason.
PoliticsRe: Pictures Of Developments in Akwa Ibom State (uncommon Transformation) by OsunOriginal: 11:09am On Jan 05, 2013
Image123: have you ever been to akwa ibom? I can bet a No. Lagos state is the smallest state in Nigeria so what are you saying?
You are very very ignorant? What is the population density of Akwa Ibom? How many roads do you have in Uyo compared to the number of roads in Ikeja Local government? How many vehicles ply the roads in Uyo?

The last time I checked, Akwa Ibom state population was 5 million compared to Lagos of 15 million (official) - the true population of Lagos is about 20 million not even adding people that come here daily for business. And you can beging to estimate the number of roads that will be required and number of vehicles on those road.

You fail to understand that population determines every other thing and not the land mass.
HealthRe: Iwu, Others Breakthrough In HIV/AIDS Treatment by OsunOriginal: 10:56am On Jan 05, 2013
onye_okwu: As the world continued to battle with efforts aimed at finding cure to HIV/AIDS, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced another breakthrough in the treatment of the disease with the discovery of an oral botanical drug, Crofelemer.

The new drug is the second botanical, and an orally administered drug to be approved by FDA since 2006.

The latest breakthrough owes its success to a pioneering research carried out in the United States by a team of scientists including Nigeria’s Professor Maurice Iwu, an acclaimed pharmacologist and tropical medicine expert.

Prof. Maurice Iwu
The first botanical drug to be approved in the United States was a topical green tea extract, Veregen, in 2006. Both botanical drugs meet all US pharmaceutical requirements and can be dispensed only by prescription.

However, ‘’Crofelemer is the first drug to be approved in the United States to treat HIV -associated diarrhea. It is derived from the latex of the South American sangre de drago tree (dragon’s blood, Croton lechleri). A red, blood-resembling latex leaks from the tree when its bark is cut, and it is this substance that contains the novel polymolecular structure crofelemer, originally developed and standardized by Shaman Pharmaceuticals. Fulyzag is the second botanical drug approved by the agency. The drug’s approval marks an important event in the decades-long history of crofelemer.’’

The latest ‘’Healthnews,’’ in a report entitled, ‘’Nigeria’s Maurice Iwu, others record breakthrough in HIV/AIDS treatment: Amazon tree-derived medicine cleared for usage in HIV patients with diarrhea,’’ stated, ‘’On New Year’s Eve of 2012, the US Food and Drug Administration announced its approval of crofelemer, marking the second time a botanical, and the first time an orally administered botanical, has received drug approval from the Administration. The first botanical drug to be approved in the United States was a topical green tea extract, Veregen in 2006. PoliticsRe: Lagos 2015: Non-Yoruba Will Be Governor. by OsunOriginal: 10:53am On Jan 05, 2013
SUBMARINE: @Non-Yorubas Lagos residence should realize that historically, yorubas are socially but not politically tolerant. So please do your business, make your money and go back to your villages to contest with your money.
The day the Igbos are politically tolerant to allow a yoruba or hausa man to be governor of Anambra or Imo state, that day the Yorubas will consider allowing Igbos or Hausa to rule Lagos.

Interesting, everybody wants to rule Lagos... Why not go and contest in your state and begin charity from there if the essence is to serve the people and not to steal their resources?
PoliticsRe: GEJ: In Praise Of Corruption by OsunOriginal: 10:41am On Jan 05, 2013
luluosas: Oh! I actually meant to say "we are NOT sure of the people who may contest"
However, Gen. Buhari is truly a Presidential material, who can really redeem our ravaged destiny in no time but, looking at the way we Nigerians have been behaving towards that man, one will only keep mute when his name is mentioned for public discussion but, having it behind his/her mind on doing what is right when the time comes.
Again, if I had mentioned Gen. Buhari among the likely contenders for the office of the President in the 2015 elections, I bet you, this thread would have gone viral, with name calling, abuse and ethno-religious war would have been the order of the day. That not withstanding, I think the age of Gen. Buhari may not make him an ideal candidate come 2015. Thank you.
who are those Nigerians that are behaving negatively towards the man? Igbos? Are northerners no longer human beings who will die for Buhari in millions? Are south Westerners not Nigerians who will not have any issue voting for Buhari? Who are the Nigerians you are talking about? Think deeply about it and dont allow Igbos ranting to becloud your thinking.
PoliticsRe: GEJ: In Praise Of Corruption by OsunOriginal: 10:37am On Jan 05, 2013
lanre_front: You said in order to choose a good leader come 2015, we should shun ethnicity and tribal sentiments.

One would think you would be the first to practice your own"preaching". You said "as of today, we are sure of the people who would contest the 2015 elections on the platform of all the political parties", but you cleverly pretended as if General Buhari of CPC is non-existent.

But you keep on mentioning names like Soludo, Sanusi and Duke, that have no chance of winning any election.

Even Fashola has to beg and obtain the blessing and support of Godfather Tinubu before he can even smell (not to talk of clinching) Presidential Nomination of ACN. And we all know what Tinubu is about. GEJ is a compromised President. Fashola would also be a compromised President because of his Godfather and Godfather's friends. See what is happening in Lagos. The whole of Lagos is in the pocket of one man.

My point: you are not practising what you preach, otherwise, you would have also given Buhari a chance by mentioning his name.

As for me I would shun all sentiments and not beat about the bush.

In today's Nigeria, if Nigerians know what is good for themselves and sincerely want a change, the best man for the job (one who actually has a good chance of getting there and not the pipe dream of some dreamers) is General Buhari.

There is no other better candidate with a brighter chance than him, for the job.

This man knows Nigeria's problem and will tackle it squarely.
You see, an average Nigeria especially those Igbos are hypocrites and they will never change. To him, shunning ethnicity and religious bigotry should not be extended to northerners - how pathetic can Igbos be?
PoliticsRe: Pictures Of Developments in Akwa Ibom State (uncommon Transformation) by OsunOriginal: 10:27am On Jan 05, 2013
Can some of the picture posters here show me the infrastructure in 3 towns in Akwa Ibom state apart from the state capital? Also show us the road linking the towns together or to the state capital.

You will agree with me that state development is not about tarring the roads in the state capital while other towns struggle to make a decent living.

Lagos is not a single town - it is a cosmopolitan of many towns already linked together - Ikeja, Agege, Dopemu, Festac, Isolo, Surulere, Badagry, Ikorodu, Ketu, Gbagada, Oshodi, Mushin, Ikoyi, V/I, Lekki, Aja, Abule Egba, Ipaja, Ogba and so many other towns. Many of these are bigger than Akwa Ibom capaital. So, when you say Lagos, it is not like Uyo.

chiover: Cpc stop ranting just go get a life. As for, there is nothing wrong with the no vacancy statement. Nigerian opposition system is so weird and rusty.
There is so much that is wrong with the statement given our experience in Nigeria here. You will also tell me there is nothing wrong with "do or die" statement. What manner of a human being are you? How will a sitting contestant say there is no vacancy in Aso Rock? Does he want to re-elect himself without Nigerians voting or what?

You need to get civilized - this is not a campus election which is more or less like kiddies play. National election is no joke - it is about peoples' life and their future and people are the ones that will determine who sits there starting from May 29, 2015.

And why will a sane person say there is no vacancy in Aso Rock even when the constitution says there is vacancy? And as a result election has to be held to determine the next occupant.

Would you shut up your ignorant mouth? Of all the people arrested for bombing the north, how many of them has been linked to CPC?

All the suspects so far have been linked to PDP senator, VP, etc with Jonathan saying he knows the people behind bombing.

PoliticsRe: The President Shall Hear By Force by OsunOriginal: 10:01pm On Jan 04, 2013
You dont have to and you can't force anything on a government.

Every leader choses to either be pro-people or pro-himself/friends in looting (which some other people call being anti-people).

Why should the people cry for a good health policy before they get it if we have a pro-people government?

Why should the people cry for infrastructure development before they get it if we have a pro-people government?

Why should the people cry for government to be proactive in providing security before they would get it?

Why do we need to keep emphasizing that portable water needs to be provided for Nigerians in cities and especially in villages?

Why do we have to keep shouting and lamenting the pitiable states of our schools and the quality of education that have seen many seeking to educate their children even in Ghana?

Why do we have to lament the hopeless corruption situation in the country before a government will take proactive measure to address it?

Why do we have to force a government to investigate subsidy payments that was obviously corruption fraught?

A pro-people government is always in touch with the people. They know the pain points of the people and they come up with remedy proactively.

We are in a country where policians enjoy praising themselves even when they have not done anything.

We are in a country where policians emback on sporadic and uncoordinated activities/projects when election is approaching.

CFCfan: After some self abnegation and immolation, I have come to the conclusion that Senator Oluremi Tinubu is the best person to occupy the Lagos state Governor's seat, come May 29, 2015.

Though she hasn't made significant contributions to Senate debates, her poise, charm, charity causes and her excellent political skills makes her frontrunner in d race to succeed the indefatigable Governor Fashola.

If she eventually decides to run for the office, be rest assured that She would become the first elected female governor in Nigeria. She would definitely continue from where Fashola stopped, ramping up the efforts to turn Lagos into the economic capital of Africa. The ACN machine is still a colossus in Lagos, nay the Southwest.
I will personally campign against her candidature - and I assure you, any other party can and will take Lagos.

You guys better begin to use your senses - we dont want to see anything Tinubu ruling Lagos again - Lagos is bigger than any individual.

And I pray this is a joke - April fool in January...
