Nairobi is a nice city but where is the picture of Down town Nairobi?

I am talking of place from the Bomb US Embassy?

The down town is worse than Ajegunle, upper class Kenyans will never venture into these areas.

Most of these pictures are from Upper Nairobi(CBD), which is dead by night apart from Mad House and the Casinos.

The best thing about Nairobi: it is a relax city, since Kenya are easy going people.
Politics / Re: Nigeria To Unveil World’s Largest Cake by otawa: 9:30pm On Aug 02, 2010
Nigeria is expected to make history on October 1, when its caterers build and unveil the world’s largest cake. The 65,000kg cake, will be unveiled at the National Stadium, Abuja, is expected to beat the current Guinness World Records.

By midnight, October 1, a select group of Nigerian caterers and bakers will begin work on a 65ton cake. By noon, the fruit cake, decorated in green and white colours will be unveiled by President Goodluck Jonathan. Mr. Jonathan will cut the 6ft high cake and Nigerians will have the opportunity to have a share of the ‘national cake’ literally.

this surely must be a joke!!!!

What you should do is ask ordinary Iranian civilians what they think of their current government. I happen to know quite a few Iranians.

And I know many who are happy with their current government.

Aloy_Emeka:

Name those countries please?

Here you go:

The air transport of the King and Prime Minister of Norway is mostly handled by commercial airliners
(such as Scandinavian Airlines) with the VIPs travelling as normal passengers.

Malaysia's Prime Minister and the Royal Family travel in a Boeing Business Jet operated by the Royal Malaysian Air Force with the serial number M53-01

The Chief Executive of Hong Kong travels on commercial aircraft operated by Cathay Pacific Airways and Dragonair, the de facto flag carriers of the territory.
He travels within the territory on helicopters operated by the Government Flying Service.

The Royal Danish Air Force operates three Challenger CL-604 for VIP transport, primarily that of the government and The Danish Royal Family. These airplanes are also used for environmental control and fishery control around Greenland and the North Sea.

And trust African Leaders:
most controversial air transports for a head of state was that of Zaire leader Mobutu Sese Seko, who leased a supersonic Concorde in the late 1980s and early 1990s

Aloy_Emeka:

That will be an insult to Nigeria. If our pastors can afford a damn jet, then the country should be able to afford one.

Nope. It is tax payers money.

I know many countries more RICH, VERY RICH compare to Nigeria, yet the President has no JET.

They are not ready to pay that for him.

They dont force you to be President but if you want to be you fly the country's commercial flight first-class.
Politics / Re: Jonathan Stranded In Uganda by otawa: 1:28pm On Jul 28, 2010
I was wondering same, the presidential jet is a 737 it is big enough to accommodate him and his wife, The best thing is for them jonathan and his wife to enter the same plane, Damn dont they see how yaradua and turai does or dont they watch cnn when other world leaders when they touch down the president and his wfe come out first and start waving to the people that are waiting for them at the tarmac, jonathan no get presidential swag

Nigerians are superstitious, they dont want to die together.

I though Mr Obasanjo bought new jet in 2002. what happened to it?

Nigerian President do not need a jet. Flying first class on Nigeria Airways(which they killed) would have done the job.

Is that the presidential jet in the pic, a freaking ordinary Boeing 737 that is being wiped out

Thats not correct:
The 737 has been continuously manufactured by Boeing since 1967 with 6,348 aircraft delivered and 2,061 orders yet to be fulfilled as of March 2010[update].[1] The 737 series is the best selling jet airliner in history

This is saying long live 'THE LAST OF THE MOHICANS',

may be in your North America

This is what happens to your tribe when you get wiped-out; to make it sounds nice.

The Mahican(people of the river) were living in and around the Hudson Valley at the time of their first contact with Europeans in 1609

Daddy Enahoro is no Mahican and this saying does not apply to him.

We should be careful copying everything directly from WEST.

Enahoro is the last of our founding fathers!

Based on below two headlines in Thisday, you will know something is very wrong with NIGERIANS.

They only have themselves to blame.

Governors wants $3bill and same time IFC is investing $300mill in some Nigerian Banks.

Why cant the governor take $300 from their $3bill, they still have left $700mill.

They invest this money in the bank using proper instrument and they can make profit while at same time telling World Bank, IFC to back off from Nigeria: we can take care of us?

Until Nigerians stand-up for their future they will always get the leaders they deserve.

Only in Nigeria!

I gotta fault u on this one men. . .

Sanusi might be a charlatan, but i dont think he takes the blame for this one

Both companies(DSTV and HiTV),are engaging in unproductive endeavors

shipping dollars overseas just to get some silly football match beamed to Nigeria

I say let HiTV develop home based programmes and sell it to Nigerians and the rights to the rest of Africa

Am not a big fan of this business model ,   .

With $100 million a bank should fund things like cocoa export and bring FOREX into Nigeria instead of shipping it out. . . . cool

I always have had a problem why European nations can get self determination, but when it comes to Africa, we can't.

simple. african leaders lack the balls to handle their own affairs. they are weak minded.

Bakassi is good example, we have to go to same people that STOLE and ENSLAVE us to decide who should keep Bakassi??

Did UK went to anyone to determine who own FALKLANDS ISLAND which is 10,000km away from UK?

No.1 rule in entertainment: Give your audience what they want.

How many countries in EUROPE go crazy after EPL? ONLY UK.

Present day Nigerians will go for anything foreign, yet they castigated their fore-fathers for getting sold into slavery for a glass-mirror.
Politics / Re: See What Sanusi Has Done To HiTV. They've Lost Premiership Rights! Painful! by otawa: 7:04pm On Jul 23, 2010
Nigeria’s most lucrative television rights, the English Premier League, EPL

instead of Nigeria to develop it is own league.

what a brain washed set of people.

NBC should simply change the rule. 70% local content. 30% foreign with 100% Taxation and license is renewable every quarter.

250,000 kids, ummm. had to believe.

This a way to con Nigeria!

why cant Nigerians, a nation of 419 smell a good fraud.

Soon, they will allocate millions $ to take care of these 'invincible kids' in Liberia.

How many Nigerians soliders deployed to Liberia? Has anyone care to find out?

Liberia has 2.5million people around that time. are you saying Nigeria Boyz added extra 250,000?

There was Olurin, the General who, according to reports, personally led assaults against the NPFL during its Operation Octopus. It was he who defeated Taylor's mostly ambitious military plan financed by Libya, Cote D'Ivoire and Burkina Faso to install the rebel chief president of Liberia

The first group of Nigerian commanders were indeed exemplary men who instilled trust in many Liberians left to an uncertain fate that things would again be fine, that life would retake its normality despite the spreading chaos and insanity. There was Joshua Dogonyaro, a towering, firm, dedicated soldier who reminded one of a Clint Eastwood's good guys, bad guys movies. I remember seeing him in a Nigerian gunboat in 1990 on our way to Monrovia. As the first Force Commander of the force, he quickly ensured that NPFL rebels were pushed out of the city, enabling citizens to move freely and resume basic activities

Instead for us to praise our boyz, we blow some baseless CRAPS.

Austine Bosah Uche (40) and Michael Onudrah (24) were taken in during a raid on their house in Tangerang, Banten province, last Wednesday (July 14).

The police conducted the raid one day after arresting two women, Beverly and Enny, who were in possession of two kilograms of methamphetamine and about to make a transaction in a room at Kartika Chandra Hotel. The two women turned out to be working for the two Nigerians.

this story looks like set-up. where is the HARD EVIDENCE?

we should stop accepting all craps. if you are a nigerian and they dont like your face, all they have to do find some drop out drug dealers to finger you.

and gbam, we accept such stories without questions, only a pity that Nigeria embassy will not come to help these guys.

It was on this forum we read about a naija that almost went to prison for alleged fake rape in UK
Politics / Re: Ijebu Igbo: Town Without A King For 16 Yrs. by otawa: 6:36pm On Jul 17, 2010
Daddybee:

Ijebu Igbo, arguably the second largest town in Ogun state has been without a king for the past 16 years. The last monarch of the town, Oba Adetayo died in 1994 and since then all efforts to have a new king has been unsuccessful.

Ijebu Igbo is the home town of many illustrous men and women dead and living. People like the late Abraham Adesanya, Micheal Adenuga, Prof. Babatunde Oshotimehin, Sen. Lekan Mustapha, Dr. Ademola Babajide etc. I believe this town would have been more developed than this if there had been a king. The politicians from this town are self centred and do not really care about the development of the town because Gbenga Kaka, the deputy governor under Osoba is from this town. There should be concerted effort towards instally a new king in this town. Perhaps we should seek the assistance of the Awujale and Oba Otudeko whose mothers are from this town. The problem is that most of this town's elites does not show much interest in the development of the town. It was after his mother died that Mike Adenuga deemed it fit to build a personal house in the town and I am not sure he has slept in the building since after the burial. I doff my hat for the elites of Ijebu Ode. May be its because they have a king. We need a paramount ruler in Ijebu Igbo.

there are two sides to a coin, may be this is the people way of saying adieu to Monach System.

That said, I believe the people still respect the our traditional value.

I would have expected Shafau and his Uncle who are both fighting for the throne to put aside their personal wishes and work for the success of the town.

I suspect until either of them die of natural causes, this lockjam would remain.

The problem with King System of Ijebu Igbo reflects at large our values as Nigerians. Personal Goals over National Goals.

Orimolusi a gbe wa oh.
Politics / Re: The Greatest Failure Of Abacha by otawa: 6:28pm On Jul 17, 2010
redsun:

The greatest failure of abacha as a creature was his failure to kill obasanjo when he had in a death hook. His death would have meant one monstrous rogue out of the way and would have saved nigeria over 30 billion dollars(rough estimate) that obasanjo and cohorts sqandered in the eight years period that he had the opportunity to loot and dismembered nigeria again.

Had he been killed by hopeless abacha, nigeria probably would have been on the way to true democracy and prospective unification

well said.

The US moved very fast towards the end, thats what spare Mr Obasanjo. Abacha was going for each  of them slowly. It is interesting to note all those key guys were friends of US.

Mr Obasanjo stole more than $30billion from Nigerians. Dont forget crude was about $120 per barrel.

Abacha in total stole $3billion but since he was not friend of US/UK, they labelled him most corrupt but we NIGERIANS never read between the lines.
Politics / ABB To Build Wind Power Plant For 700million Usd by otawa: 5:39pm On Jul 16, 2010
ABB has received a $700 million contract to produce offshore wind power.
It will build three wind parks in the North Sea for transpower, the German transmission grid operator.

The three wind parks will supply a total output of 800 megawatts to mainland Germany, ABB announced on Friday.

ABB will use the eco-friendly high-voltage direct current (HVDC) technology to connect the wind parks’ power to the network.

The clean energy will have to travel 165 kilometres under water and land.

ABB will be responsible for the development, design, delivery and installation of the various platforms, stations and connecting cables.

The power should begin flowing in 2013.

Compare that amount 700mil USD and 800MW to Mr Obasanjo spending 16billion to give us DARKENESS.

Nigerians are so ignorant of what goes on around them.

Going by above 16billionUSD should power for us 10,000MW.

Alas, NIGERIANS got NOTHING and did NOTHING.
