Politics / Re: 234next Newspapers Is Dying! by otawa: 5:23pm On May 07, 2010
Why? Apparently powerful and corrupt forces are trying to strangle this fledgling paper into oblivion. They've stepped on too many toes - powerful toes like Ibori, Turai etc. These forces have hit the paper at its vulnerable point: adverts and its distribution network.

can you explain?

Did same Ibori/Turai stop you from advertising?

I am a security freak and incidence like me get my brain into thinking mode. What if that container/barge/ship was laced with a dirty bomb by those fanatics or a rogue nation looking to spark a war in our region?

well done.

The only rogue nation to want to do this to Nigeria will be USA and UK.

If Jonathan borrows money and the money is put to good use vis a vis infrastructural development, then by all means, the dude should command our respect.

CRAP.

What did Jonathan did with $3billion he signed-out just a week after they made him 'acting president'

Money is never put to good use in NIGERIA!

Since the advent of Jonathan and his crew, Nigeria is back to international reckoning!

This is very good for the country. There is Hope people. There is Hope!!

shocking!!

How is this good for Nigeria?

when we Nigerians stop deceving themselves and go after these people thats destroying their lives?
Foreign Affairs / Re: Arizona Immigration Law. Necessary Or Bad Law? by otawa: 9:53pm On Apr 25, 2010
I still don't know why they can't build a proper fence across the border with Mexico since this has proven one of the most effective methods for stopping border crossings.

indeed.
Foreign Affairs / Re: Ahmadinejad Pallies Mugabe by otawa: 11:10am On Apr 25, 2010
How in heavens name do you think sanctions will be lifted from Zimbabwe if Mugabe is inviting and hob-nobbing with Ahmadinejad. So you expect the U.S and U.K to lift sanctions while Mugabe is busy associating the country with Iran.

sanction works because of the old 'divide and rule' tactics.

when shall we learn and face our future squarely.

Nobody can dictate to Zimbabwean who there friends should be.

Thank God we still have China, Russia, Iran.

Only a fool will believe a slave master ever change, they only modernise their slavery style.

More than 100 years of WEST in African, where is the result? They still keep milking us dry and blame us for it.

@bgees,

Thanks. Lovely video.

The winning Ram should have their skeleton in the museum when it is eventually killed for food.

we just need to put some colors and rules into the game.

kudos to the organisers.
Politics / Re: Shame To All The Nigerian Yahoo And Fraudulent People by otawa: 7:38pm On Apr 23, 2010
Last few years another Nigerian was selling laptops on eBay at cheap rates, I think about £500 per equipment. My friend checked his trust rating which was very high and he sent a cheque for the agreed amount.

there you go. when will AFRICANS be able to think properly.

Your white friend is the thief!

How much did they sell Laptops in shops?? Tell us.

Everyone that got duped got greed behind it.
Politics / Re: Minister Justifies N138billion Loan by otawa: 7:29pm On Apr 23, 2010
3 Yrs ago when OBJ was leaving we had about 60 Billion dollars in our foreign reserve. In 3 yrs they have been able to squander the money.

indeed. Same Mr Obasanjo sold Nigerians Yaradua.

Did anyone see the 60billion?

It baffles me how a nation of 419 can be 419ed by their government!
Politics / Re: Cruelity Against Animals by otawa: 7:25pm On Apr 23, 2010
At a time when developed countries are developing laws to protect animals, see what your
country is doing, its just a shame that we like doing absurd stuff.

Another load of CRAPS.

It will do you good to save us your half-barked knowledge.

May be you should go to spain to see how they do bull-fight.

But ram fight competitions, which are popular in various parts of Nigeria, also receive criticsm for attracting gambling and some ram owners and trainers have also been accused of feeding their rams with marijuana to turn them into fearless and furious fighters.

This is welcome development but they should provide clear rule of the game. no doping allowed.

It is the 3rd biggest market in the world.

The coming revolution, in Nigeria? forget about it.

The only coming revolution is a few more money in their pocket and all is well.
Politics / Re: Nigeria Applies For Fresh Loan Amidst Rising Debt - Big Mistake ? by otawa: 1:25pm On Apr 22, 2010
The Acting President, Goodluck Jonathan yesterday wrote the House of Representatives seeking its approval to borrow $915 million from the World Bank to fund infrastructural deficit critical to the rapid development of the country.

I am not surprised.

Those gullible NIGERIANS on this are already praising GoodLuck. They will support even a MONKEY.

Mr Obasanjo gave them Yaradua in 2007, they supported him without thinking.

Here is same GoodLuck, that signed out $3billion within a week if being made ACTING PRESIDENT.

Where is the money?

What happened to it?

And now he came back from USA only to start borrowing again. HISSSSS
Politics / Re: Acting President Signs Africom With Americans! by otawa: 8:39am On Apr 22, 2010
At the signing three weeks ago, Clinton stated that the commission would seek to make progress in many areas, of which four are considered key. She said first, "we will work together on good governance and transparency, which are essential to Nigeria's democracy and its prosperity," adding that special focus would be put on the electoral reform, the 2011 elections and the fight against corruption.

Secondly, Clinton disclosed that "the Commission will promote regional cooperation and development that creates opportunities and delivers results for all of the people of the Niger Delta. Part of that cooperation will be broader collaboration on security and counterterrorism."

Thirdly, she said that "we will work together on energy reform and investment. Nigeria is blessed with natural resources, including oil and gas, yet electricity remains too scarce and profits have not always been invested in ways that benefit all Nigerians, particularly the poorest."

And lastly, the U.S. Secretary of State added that the commission "will focus on food security and agricultural development. We want to help provide Nigeria's farmers with the tools they need to feed their people and lift rural families out of poverty."

Any right thinking people will start asking, what has USA done to help their MEXICAN who leaves next door?

And yet they are eager to HELP Nigeria!
Travel / Re: Nigerian Travels To The Us In The Tyre Of A Plane! by otawa: 9:52pm On Apr 19, 2010
This is what you get when a country has no more soul.

It is also a lesson for those of you abroad to tell the truth to those of us at home.

There is no paradise anywhere on earth.

Another useless loss.

bird strike is common occurence when planes take-off.

Good that this did not result in loss of life.

A ponder to NAA to ensure bird activities are limited around the MM airport area.

will they take action? No. this is Nigeria.
Politics / Re: I’ll Run For 2011 Presidential Polls, Says Ibrahaim Babangida by otawa: 5:15pm On Apr 12, 2010
its called deja vu.it reminds me notorious abacha one million march in abuja.people lost their faith and supported abacha.look at some people here that were canvassing for true democracy supporting ibb just because they want to make fast money.

You missed the point.

The moment Mr Obasanjo was being brought back in 1999 nobody said anything, that is when it all went wrong.

Mr Obasanjo does not have two heads. So IBB is also free to be president.

What you guys should be doing is bring out a better CANDIDATE.

Why in the world are you even comparing the two? Is Obasanjo running for President here? Are we going to compare him to Abacha and Idi

Actually Mr IBB is to refined to be compared with Mr Obasanjo.

Obasanjo wiped out the enitire village in ODI, he should be compared to Idi-Ami.
Politics / Re: Ait On Babangida by otawa: 5:01pm On Apr 12, 2010
Did you guys notice the program that  AIT have been airing  about Babangida military regime? What a disgrace to see the wickedness in a man like Babangida,a man that can kill his bestfriend(Vatsa).I find it hard to believe he still want to ruin nigeria by contesting the next election.I will prefer OBJ to continue instead of Babangida getting into power.what do u think?

yeah. How many IGBOs did Mr Obasanjo killed in 1966??

Yet he was 2 times Nigerian President.

And last I checked Mr Obasanjo started the decree to kill coup plotters!

Vasta was a coup plotter if you dont remember just like Dimka
Politics / Re: I’ll Run For 2011 Presidential Polls, Says Ibrahaim Babangida by otawa: 4:41pm On Apr 12, 2010
I really feel like puking!!! Someone please tell me I am not reading all this now. How can anyone who really lived through the Babangida regime, believe that the man is gentle and good for us, forgetting that all the power he had back then was because he surrounded himself with the military, without which he will probably be no better a leader than any other person out there. Are we also going to allow him reinstall military rule?

If it is to compare the two: IBB and Mr Obasanjo. Then IBB is 100% better!

Mr Obasanjo sold Bakassi People to slavery for his 3rd games.

He wiped out the entire ODI village. He spent $16billion to give us darkness.

And finally, he brought us to a sorry state of Yaradua and Goodluck!
Politics / Re: I’ll Run For 2011 Presidential Polls, Says Ibrahaim Babangida by otawa: 4:13pm On Apr 12, 2010
In my opinion Nigeria is finished because this is another imposition on the helpless and powerless Nigerians by the US government for their own interests.

what did you or Nigerians did in 1999 when Mr Obasanjo was imposed??

Too late for anyone to cry or do anything.

The game plan is clear. The generals were did one who rubbished ATIKU in 2007 since they knew it will be impossible to have such man hande over to Mr IBB.

But we Nigerians are too dump to see the game play.

i'm yet to witness obj declaring his support for ibb.he stopped him in 2007,how are will sure he wont be stop in 2011.

That was the dummy they sold to Nigerians!
Politics / Re: I’ll Run For 2011 Presidential Polls, Says Ibrahaim Babangida by otawa: 12:34pm On Apr 12, 2010
am sorry for all of you rented crowds clamoring for IBB's second coming, just get all the crumbs you can from him now but just know it, 'He ain't going nowhere'

He may start off running for the presidency but he will surely end up 'RUNNING FOR HIS DEAR LIFE'

Too late.

did Nigerians voted for Yaradua?

The same machinery that put Yaradua in place is still very much alive.

It is now that Mr Obasanja game planned became clear; he was merely preparing the ground for IBB to come back, thats why he put lame Yaradua and boy-boy Jonathan to keep the shop untill IBB is ready.
Politics / Re: Senator Marries 13 Yr Old Girl by otawa: 1:42pm On Apr 07, 2010
truly-opal:

@ topic and poster

yeah, its really unfortunate our leaders ar still bringing themselves this low and exposing themselves to unnecessary scrutiny and insult, instead of making waves as regards to development in our nation.
But nonetheless, the posters that hav been harpin on islam supporting child abuse, The last time i checked (i served in a hospital in a southern state of nigeria) 1 out of 7 girls below d age of 13 has had an abortion. So that concludes that christianity permits sexual activities at young age but does not approve of marriage until a girl reaches a ripe age of ? upon which she has successfully/unsuccessfully aborted numerous pregnancies by her numerous trial and error boy friends/fiances/uncles/rapists.
Was it not last year that a british magazine featured the youngest couple in U.K, an 11 yrs old dad and 12yrs mom.But our dear nairaland posters considered dat O.K infact kinda cool considerin na oyinbo do am.
To cut long story short. when will nigerians learn to argue about issues without bringing religious sentiments? angry

Faultless. What a brillant mind!!
Politics / Re: Governments Aren't Responsible For Creating Jobs by otawa: 1:36pm On Apr 07, 2010
Governments are not responsible for creating JOBS.

But it is in the interest of Governments that JOBS are created.

Without jobs:

1. No taxes to fund Government activities

2. The citizen become lawless

3. There wont be rule of LAW

4. The governement will collapse

All above anyway is for a true country. It does not hold in an already FAILED STATE like Nigeria!
Politics / Re: 2011 - US - based Countrymen To Storm Minna For IBB by otawa: 9:17am On Apr 07, 2010
Imagine if Goodluck does a great Job which we know he will do between now and next year , and then we are thrown back to the past with IBB next year, undoing all the good works of Goodluck.

The only good work, GoodLuck can do is to ensure that Ribadu finally put his wife Patience behind bars for the money laundering of $2,000,0000.00 in August 2006.

Anything short of that means GoodLuck is just deceving 'gullible' Nigerians like Mr Obasanjo did for 8 years.
Politics / Re: Kano's Ex-Gov Alhaji Abubakarr Rimi Dies After Armed Robbery Attack by otawa: 2:04pm On Apr 06, 2010
”Before then he had spoke n with his son, Alhaji Karami.
The robbers ordered me out of the jeep and asked me to take them to the boot of the vehicle where they took all our possessions including all our handsets except that of the orderly who hid his under the seat.

”The robbers, having done with us, asked us to leave but not until the younger brother of the late politician was beaten. As we zoomed off, Rimi asked if anyone was hurt, his younger brother, Sule, showed him his injury on his neck.

”Rimi placed his hand on the injury and told him not to worry as Allah will not forgive the evil men. And retorted that ‘In shah Allah this will be the last time I shall travel in the night as long as I remain alive.”

”Moment later, Rimi began to gasp and was having difficulty in breathing. There and then, he told us to hurry up and take him to Classic Hospital on Abbas Road. On reaching the hospital, a female expatriate medical doctor attended to him. But not satisfied, we rushed him to Malam Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital. It was very unfortunate that we had to spend over 15 minutes outside the emergency ward because there was no stretcher to convey him inside the ward.

”Moment later, his brother, Alhaji Sule Sa’a, came out of the hospital and told us that maigida has passed on. It was exactly 11.30 p.m,” he said.

This could happen to anyone in Nigeria.

It has nothing to do with old or young, innocent or clean people.

It has to do with NIGERIA as a country!
