PoliticsRe: Partisan Comparisons Of Channel Tv’s Seun And Arise Tv’s Rufai By Farooq Kperogi by othermen:
If Osinbajo made the call to Oyedepo, Farooq’s fixation will not shift from ensuring the rest of us is suffocated with how such is bigotry of the highest quality; but he is not Soyinka to have the same energy or objectivity towards Obi.

He can’t risk the obedient people unearthing his extreme views and petitioning his employer to have him fired. However, when the heat is no more, he’d show us his ragged robe of courage of speaking his truth and kick the dogs he can kick.

Not even in this article can he take a position suggestive of any, contrary to the obedient movement, he could cite actual instances where the advocacy of either journalist border on absurdity and unprofessionalism even in the guise of advocacy journalism but no, the great Farooq would use the opportunity to give an historical lecture on the variant forms of journalism just to resuscitate his singular ongoing irrelevance in our public discourse.

There are issues begging for discussion even in this matter. This contribution, however, is only a testimonial of cowardice. The pseudo contribution rusts the psyche of the astrayed lots that have an appetite for the ilks but it should also awaken them to the actual intent of façade diatribes of him and even contributors like Soyombo.

Their aim is not the truth or a better nation or to provide direction to a better nation, their aim is not to achieve any such consciousness for the people, but to gain their own power and build their own relevance to become another Femi Adesina or Abati or Gambari.

LiteratureRe: I Can Mention Achebes Book. How Many Soyinka Book U Sabi by othermen:
Achebe is one of our greatest export.

His classic “Things fall apart” is a testament to this.

There are those that think the quality of a book should be measured by its popularity or by how popular it’s.

Without alluding to any such deficient premises; the argument for Professor Achebe being a top-top author is still easy to make.

The fixation that Achebe is not a top author because he didn’t get the prize for literature is another deficient line of reasoning. Achebe himself legitimized such, by his subtle inverse valuation of the prize validation. Achebe had suggested that such a prize do not bereft him of being “Asiwaju” of Africa’s literature.

Achebe had his right to boast, or to engage in any such self-absorption. His last contribution in “There was a country” was a longer testament to such tendencies of viewing in Soyinka a contempore adversary or the rest of Nigeria as an adversary to the ambition of his east.

Such personal quality whether you call it some form of chauvinism, however, do not diminish the quality of his classic ‘s’.

I have not read him or Soyinka to determine who is the better author. I recognize they have different styles, and that the level of their critical application varies, but in none of their works, have more or less been wanting.

The differences play a role in the level of appeal, personally experienced, but not to such extents that it evokes a disparaging of either.

So , how is he getting released and released again? Shouldn’t he have qualified for deportation??

India prisons needs to do better with rehabilitation. It’s likely the case, he got into the drug peddlers network while he was in custody.

Though, overstaying his welcome wasn’t the offense that landed him in prison. It was a drug related offense. The face off with the law could’ve contributed to his descent into this.

You go into the prison as a petty thief, you come out as an armed robber.
PoliticsRe: Seun's Name Is Being Draged On Social Media by othermen:
The whole charade was a PR disaster for Mr Seun.

He will forever be etched in the minds of several people as a tribalist and ethnic bigot.

No one cares that he was personally invested in projecting Gbadebo.

Fewer people even knew about the advert. It was his apology that nailed the coffin of his disrepute.

The election is wild and tensions are high and several people are looking for scapegoats. Regardless of what your intentions were.

Getting professional advice or insight from others experience would have nudged you towards knowing to distance yourself from such error and not publicly validate it.

If you had to, Nairaland as an entity could officially respond. And acknowledge that while the advert falls below the self righteous threshold you have set for yourself, such adverts are also popular from other candidates in the present or past, that were also similarly worded for tribal emotional impact.

If you go to the East, you think they didn’t do advert to nudge people to support Obi , because he was their own?? Further, you could have mentioned that one of the mods made the error and immediately it was recognized, it was removed and the mod temporarily relieved pending investigation. The mod is facing internal disciplinary actions and you move on…but no, you want to be the face of leaders in Nigeria taking responsibility or some Elon Musk seeking users opinion as though Musk goes to Facebook to create a poll in respect to a decision for Twitter.

Whichever way, taking responsibility when rightly done and when done for the right reason, will always be admirable.

The likes of Fisayo Soyombo who I genuinely expected to be fair in his criticism is not unsusceptible to the rage. Rather than admire your effort with the apology, he chose to malign you. Fisayo had nothing to say about Hundeyin’s bully of Kiki Mordi or on any of the saga of the so called Nigeria pseudo online intelligent community. He won’t cross Seun Kuti when Kuti brandished his gun at his neighbors guests . It even appears, it has been Mr Seun’s intention to get into the circle. Such intentions, make you a very easy target. The point is, they are building a following, and you will be sacrificed as a foundational block to increase their height.

Although, I think a properly well thought apology could serve, the apology was rather naive. Your whole attitude during the election especially in respect to Lagos state was not even balanced:

in the end to project Gbadebo , you created these monsters that now devours you.

What can you do going forward??

You can as well resign from the cesspool and ensure that your replacement is from the East. Perhaps they will forgive you then and acknowledge that you are really not a tribal or ethnic jingoistic person.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: How Best Do I Answer These Interview Questions by othermen:
How best you answer, depends on what the position entails and the quality of your experience.

Talk about your qualification for the role. Align the job requirements to your passion, motivation, career objective. Talk about the challenges and opportunities of the role and why such an atmosphere is where you best thrive. Mention the specific strength you are bringing to the job.

, if you have got job or educational experience relevant to the job description, align your response to your past accomplishments.
PoliticsRe: Oyebanji Restates Commitment To Improved Health Care Facilities by othermen:
There is a story where Peter Obi visited a secondary school when he was governor.

The infrastructures of the school were spent and he was appalled.

He could have made promises and insinuations that in the next state budget, an allocation for the school maintenance will be included.

Obi didn’t. He did what any right thinking leader should do. The state of the school required an immediate response. It was an emergency that couldn’t wait. He didn’t leave the school making false promises, he acted immediately.

He wrote a cheque and gave the cheque needed to fix the school right away.

There is no reason why such shouldn’t be the template by which our elected officials act, especially in respect to infrastructures that are critical to the people.

The time between the visit and the time , a concrete action is taken, how many would have died?

Also, it’s not enough to fix infrastructures, it’s also important to fix the employees sense of maintenance. You go to some public institutions and the employees in charge of such institutions watch, as the whole infrastructures crumble into delapidations.

All of these requires money, and if our institutions are embedded as welfare institutions, they may struggle with generating an income to sustain their own maintenance. But then who said they can’t provide such welfare function and yet be a revenue source? That’s what a right thinking government is about.

Although, a public hospital. There is no reason why it cannot aspire to be a reference hospital and even be an income generating hospital for the government. It will be such, when the hospitals are equipped and their is great maintenance culture. Then it can compete with the likes of First cardiology hospital. If the hospital has a reputation for relief, the hospital can earn the money, Nigerians traveling abroad for healthcare are currently expending. There was a time, people travelled from other Africa countries to seek healthcare in UCH. We can return to such a time.
PoliticsRe: Wole Olanipekun, 49 Others To Defend Tinubu At Electoral Tribunal by othermen:
At least Peter Obi is smart enough not to hire Femi Falana. ASUU wasn’t, and today they are lost in the theatrics of his naive counsel.
ASUU advocate or advocates for Nigerians, no serious person or institution does.

Getting Wole Olanipekun is an evidence that Tinubu is serious about ensuring the mandate is not taken from him. Must have looked at the evidences available, and assessed that such evidences are strong enough to serve as a basis to withdraw the certificate of return.

But Tinubu and his cohorts are smart enough not to rely on a naive tribunal or judiciary. They know many of the judges are naive, if not mostly interested in their own advantages. That’s what Buhari has imposed on the country. -A government of incompetence lots, up to the level of the Supreme Court justices.

Yet, Tinubu knows, they are perhaps so cheap. Those that are unbending to corruption or their past or to the desire of their future, are otherwise cheap on intellectual rigor, which Wole Olanipekun is to exercise.

Wole Olanipekun is a senior advocate of Nigeria, yet he has never advocated for Nigeria. His reputation is on defending the country’s detractors. His eloquence will not serve Nigeria this time. He does not desire the applause of the public or the admiration of the masses; what is to be done with those? A fate like Gani fawehinmi?

Until, there is an incentive for our brightest mind to serve the nation and the nation’s interest, Nigeria will be ‘compassed’ or ‘captained’ by those interested in its loot. They work behind to ensure, the nation parastatals don’t have the best manpower available. They sponsor back door recruitment for the agencies because they know, that with their incompetent stooges, they have got much chance at playing the system. The foreign community is also particular about its interest, it will recruit all of our best minds, so there is none left to defend the nation: in the end, is it not all our aspiration to be the next Wole? Or the next person to travel abroad and use our talents for another nation?

And so, until, there is an incentive for our brightest mind to serve the nation and the nation’s interest, Nigeria will be ‘compassed’ or ‘captained’ by those interested in its loot and sadly, they will recruit our best minds to ensure their rein is sustained.
EducationRe: Rose Okeke: I Won The James Currey Prize 2022, Yet Hundeyin Got The Fellowship by othermen: 8:25am On Mar 03, 2023
Folks are coming to take their own slice. The owner of this platform also had an issue with David Hundeyin. David called him out, then ignored him and made it seem, he was very inconsequential and irrelevant. So, by pushing all of these to FP, this platform is also having their slice.
EducationRe: Cambridge University Disassociates Itself From David Hundeyin, Onyeka Nwelie by othermen:
When you look at his records on google scholar, you would have a little premonition.

While anybody can get their articles on google scholar, users or consumers that know their onions are as well concerned about the publisher or journal.

Is it indexed in Thomson-Reuters or Scopus or Scimago or another recognized index? What you find is that his publication is an offshoot of his own fictional book and little invested in academic rigor.

But then he has the charisma of a dogged Cornel West. He could have been more successful than Philip Emeagwali.

He presented himself as such and accrued benefits by such associations. He was invited to other institutions on the basis of such associations and he allowed himself to be so identified. He got the honorary doctorate as a result of these misleading associations. How no Nigeria scholar could look a little within as to his credibility is actually not ridiculous. It is even the aspiration of the genuine local scholar to get a reference from him.

But he was smart, he was no Moses Ochonu, or Farooq Kperogi or another in diaspora that had a critical opinion on ASUU. But his association with David is just one of those anti-climax movements. That association is perhaps his most prominent hamartia. He was trying to win the space and gain more influence on the back of David. He also associated with Linda Ikeji, but David is the one that has smart detractors: he is a popular fellow who has given a fight to the BBC and accused it, to such extent, to destroy its reputation. Oxford providing their platform for him, legitimizes such accusations, and the smart fellows David Hundeyin has crossed by his manner of journalism are much interested in his disastrous end. David didn’t lose out from this. Onyeka did. He perhaps lost all; folks would now review his books and find misogynistic nonsense and plagiarism and incompetence. He is not a film maker on the level of Mr Macaroni, but by his association in the past, there were those who’d considered it an honor to work with him, now he has lost that too, and all his credibility. And his reputable name will be associated with fraud. Don’t build on sinking sands.

I hope he gets all the supports he can get from those around him. And that those who used him as a ladder, do not genuinely abandon him. He can get a genuine doctorate degree and earn himself a genuine comeback in 2-3 years from now.

Also, he shouldn’t have had an opinion too on who was the better singer between Seun Kuti and one of the P Square brothers. Without earning David enemies, the dissatisfied lots from such a decision, could have as well get interested in ruining his reputation. Even if Farooq is not careful, the dissatisfied lots can find a post, where he subtly endorsed the Quran and infer he endorsed child marriage and women as subordinates. Thus, he is careful too. Or do you think Farooq can talk about homosexuality as haram or have an opinion that is traditionally from his place of origin or his religion, without getting the kick? That’s just one of the prices to pay.

Onyeka’s claim to authority was in Africa studies, a white person evaluating his methodology or reviewing his credentials would be less critical in their comments, else they are racist lots. At least as a future yahoo boy, trying to become the next Philip Emeagwali or Onyeka you learn the lesson in how to navigate their world through an intellectual endeavor. Don’t do the sciences where you can be easily disproved or rebuffed. Do an African related course, be an authority on the people of Sambisa, no one would question you that much, especially abroad.

In the end, he is a different Yahoo Boy.

We have seen videos of voters intimidation and disenfranchisement. We have seen videos of blatant electoral malpractices and fraud. Asking for a review is important to the legitimacy of the presidency. If it’s not rectified, it’s not Nigerians that elected this president, it is violence and electoral corruption that did.
