An acclaimed dog trainer was invited to a house that had a very aggressive dog, a Rottweiler the dog was. They asked him if he could tame the dog and make it less aggressive. And he said "Of course, I surely can. It's not that hard" So he took sticks, piled them up and used each on the dog. He changed sticks when the other broke and so it went, changing and using diff sticks to beat the hell out of the dog. Till when the dog couldn't muster the strength to bark and cry. "YES!" he thought he had tamed the monster. So he came again the next day to see if the dog still proved stubborn and needed more whooping. When the dog saw him, it didn't bark or growl at all, it just cawed its head. The man feeling fly was bragging and waving his hands for gestures. One of his hands was only few inches from the gnashing teeths of the dog when the dog grabbed his arm and tore off skin like a piece of cloth He's still in a hospital I guess ... Lessons we learn |
Originalme1,
That dog will respect him out of FEAR and not out of LOVE.
And if the dog has a choice, it will do two things
1. Run away at any chance it gets
OR
2. It'll bite the dude with all the strength its got.
Yh, sh!t happens. |
HumphreyBold:You ever tried jacking him before she came on heat? We do these to give the male dogs experience on what it feels like to be stimulated, ejaculate and to mate. So they then start humping by themselves, first on your leg(the funny thing male dogs do) then if other dogs are in sight, they hump them. So this will teach them what to do when they meet a female on heat ... My advice; 1. You lock them up in a confinement big enough to house the both of them but small enough for their body to be in contact ... 2. You get a professional to assist ... 3. You use another stud(male) ... 4. You wait till her next heat. By then, you'd have personally made him more experienced. Cheers! |
HumphreyBold:Lol! He's not lazy, he's just not experienced. You said it yourself, its his first. And its not like he has seen other dogs do it. So he trying to mount her is what his instinct tells him to do, but after that, he's got no clue on what to do next hence, he drops and walks away. Your female dog flagging and opening up for him shows she's ovulating, and this should be the period when she should be mated. |
The top two that are hyped are the RoyalCanin and the Diamond. But really, other feeds are good too (Nutritola, Pedigree, Josi, Booster etc.). What you supplement them with is what's important; vitamins, drugs and co. ... They are pretty huge for 5 months. Weldone! |
Hi MavenMykael, Good work you doing mahn Love your enthusiasm and passion. And a lovely dog you've got too I read it through, lol ... 4 Months already? Wow, time flies, truely. Might I ask, have you immensely changed her diet? I mean the diet you did give her when she was about 10 weeks +, as it totally been changed? |
She's beautiful!
Weldone, an awesome environment, by the way.
Potty training...? |
Engrpj: 1000angstroms: mhd5757:It's not! Lets tell him the truth. |
Don't blame them Brah! You just haven't thought them. You might think you have, but they know you haven't. ... Take them to the place you've destined for them to poo Do this when you know they are pressed and they really need to let go. Quickly take them on their leash to the place and wait with them till they poo or pee. If they're feeling uneasy with you close-by, then simply tie the leash on a pole or rod then walk away, but make sure you can still see them. When they position themselves to poo or pee, you'll come closer so when they drop, you then give them a reward. Either petting, singing songs for them or yummy treats. Do this everytime. So later on when you release them, they go there themselves. And if at all they go pooing where they not supposed to, simply(not intensely or roughly) make them know you not happy bout' it. Either you yell "NO", stamp your fit on the ground or something they know you to do when they've done something wrong. Not that hard per se. Cheers! |
mhd5757:Hahaha!! Lawwd! knows I couldn't help it |
Its kinda traditional, that as been passed on for about 2000 years. Their ears were cropped for security reasons; to avoid them getting injury and injection during fights with enemies and running in bushes. Now, those are importance of the ear-cropping. But its not a must you follow that tradition, its your personal choice, really. Especially if your dog doesn't do such task. But hey, do know this, if at all your dog is to attend a Dog Show, it might get disqualified if the ears aren't cropped cause some people consider it standards. Cheers! |
davillian:LOL! But don't tempt them Those tiny teeth you see aren't blunt o They tear. That's why they are called Teeth like saws Believe me, you wouldn't want those things on your body And some even have the balls to engage you in a battle and you must run, lol Their motto during battle is until death do us part |

Make sure those dogs got the traits you want in yours I.e. If you want your dog to be barking efficiently and regularly, mingle it with a dog that does that very well and everytime. Preferably a Lhasa Apso If you want your dog to be security concious, associate it with a guard dog. A GSD, Malinois, Rott etc. I would have added "If you want your pet to be extremely loyal, you can mingle it with Pitbull", but we know they do not possess tge perfect personality. They are an extremely jealous breed ... P.s. For you to be certain where the problem is from, check out the Parents. See if you can find any similarities in that aspect. If you do, then you know its mainly a gene-trait-thing that's the cause, the temperament. Cause there are lots of Eskimos that are naturally aggressive, some even too aggressive. And also, go online and check the standards and the right trait. Either on AKC, UKC or other association. Cheers |
Kelvin30286063:I feel your pain brah We've been there before, and we help Owners and their pet get out of it. ... You need to socialize them. I'm guessing they've associated with humans all their life, hence their reason for wanting to start a relationship with every person they come across, be it a stranger. So don't blame then, its how they've been conditioned So to help, you gotta now socialise them with other dogs and pets. Not just observing from afar, let them mingle and spend time with them(other dogs). And I don't mean other stupid(if you know what I mean) dogs o, so we won't compound the problem. |
Majikals:That won't really change anything Its part of them already, their temperament conditioning. Its a very valid method you said, but the effect don't really show on this breed. They could be locked up 24/7 and they still wouldn't budge. The only exception is when its done from their Pup stage. Cause whatever they pick up at that stage sticks with them. But doing it when they're grown? Damn, they wouldn't suck it in |
TarOrfeek:Hahaha!! What happened to other dogs? |
Eveezy:You are a perfect example of a typical Nigerian whose mindset needs to be reformed You praise the foreign but yet neglect/reject your country's! . Do you know how the GSD of today began? You ever heard of Max Von Stephanitz? The animal lover(like agboedeh) saw a dog called Horand at a show and saw the possibilities and beauty in that dog. Horand was of an unknown breed of that time. So I'll leave you to research the timeline of the GSD . I've been told about a friend who exports this our "ekuke" to SA and sells them for 150K, no stress. Shey yunno its this Ekuke that were once the renowned AIYELABOLA. The farm dogs of the old-days Beauty in every breed! |
Starboytwo:Ok, this is where traits and temperaments is of essence, it draws a margin. Not all dogs have the mental ability(brain power) to undergo some training sessions. Thats why there are variations among the dog breeds, each mutated for a specific pur According to Desmond Morris, there are 6 main groups of breeds officially recognized The gun-dogs The hounds The working dogs The terriers The toy dogs and the utility dogs. So each of this groups have different mental capacity So if you wondering what the mental power of a typical Nigeria stray dog is then do the research work. Get a first hand experience by breeding(no mixing please, if you really want your research to be pure) or ask anybody specialising on them. Like agboedeh of NL, doing a good job by studying n working on them. |
Starboytwo:Lol! Of course they get spoilt. "Over pamper" them and that's what you get They start competing with you for the "Alpha role'. I mean, who doesn't wanna be the Alpha of the "pack"? p.s. In this conversation, I want you to think dogs like you'll think a fellow human being. One who can think, share emotions and communicate. That's the best way you'll easily understand and relate with them well. Now I'm not saying you neccessarily need to treat them as Humans in whole, but just understand that they too act as Humans. Like Jay Z says, "I'm like a dog, I don't speak but I understand" So if you think tha that pretty canine in your house kanor communicate or understand, I hope you now know better. So in short, moderation is erything. Excess pampering(this doesn't equate to love tho) or abusal of the dog will lead to a stubborn dog or a spirit-broken dog respectively |
Starboytwo:Proverbs 22:6 "Train up a child the way he should go, And when he's old he will not depart from it" Same thing applies to pets. Just cause its an "animal" doesn't mean you should treat/relate with it as such. Training helps to correct, compose and construct the behaviour of your pet Basically, removing any unwanted habits and putting in the habits you desire. More like the input and the ouput technique. You know everydog has got its bad habit(s), so its how well you manage it from the start that'll show in the latter days. Cheers! anyways |
oluomoadebayo:You didn't answer the questions. But its cool I won't use an APBT. Like I said, its too typical. I'd use the Rott instead. You ever heard of Khan? You must have |
oluomoadebayo:Nah, I wouldn't make it so typical. Why will I use a Pitbull on you So you doubting the profiency of what? My training or the dogs themselves? ... "Put Darco on me"? To what end? To prove what point? That your dog is trained too? |
oluomoadebayo:You know I actually did test the bite force of an ABPT and a GSD. The reason for using this varying dogs that differ in so many things is cause I actually saw them being rated inca video "Top 10 Best Guard Dogs". The GSD being 3rd and the Pit 2nd. So we werked it out. Got someone to put on the gears, trigger them and I gave them the command. Even with the bite sleeve and chain, the scars left on the dummy's hand after the APBT showcased the talent in its fangs will narrate the story for you without you asking what happened. Like you said, pure bred APBTs might have no human-agression tendencies, ok but when trained to do what you want them to, in this case; to be aggressive towards mankind (on command). They can and will wreck havoc to that man that dares. |
oluomoadebayo:Hmm... You wanna reveal this privately? |
oluomoadebayo:Exactly the reason why I involved myself in the conversation Silent viewers are yearning to learn. But with the much uneccesary comparing and comtrasting that as occured, I'm certain they are already lost in their decision Well I'm done with that conversation. Talks like this only yields discord among we brethrens and discredits the already made efforts of anyone involved ..Back to the purpose of the thread.. Those are beautiful canines. Your trainings are awesome, and your style of drilling dem' dogs too Been wondering, just some few quetions if you don't mind |
oluomoadebayo:Are you actually contrasting yourself openly? Which bite force is most effective, the higher or the lower? You call the bite force of a dog irrelevant? Wow. Here I was, reading a thread on my prospective and beautiful breed of dog, the Belgian Malinois. From a "renowned breeder" in the Dog world of Nigeria. Until I kept reading on and stumbled upon some conversations or perhaps an argument between the fervent dog breeders about an obviously stronger breed of dog and an agile/trained(I wouldn't say weaker) breed of dog Pains me to say, the purpose of this thread is lost to an unknown cause. |
oluomoadebayo:Hmm...interesting. In other words, you saying there was a time the Caucasian Ovcharkas was preferable in all ramifications than the BMs? |
oluomoadebayo:I said trained Well, you haven't seen mine. And the ones I've trained, brotha Hunt drive you say? They were bred for their strength, agility and their loyalty brotha. Do you know their renowned "loyalty" once made them the number one American Family Dog. You disagree? Well research will help. And if at all you don't find it on the net then let me know so I'll forward a video of their history and their traits to you. At least , you'd have no doubt left seeing that video Now let me shock you, APBTs have better agility than the BMs and GSDs. I know you'll ask me why they aren't mainly used for police escorts and guarding. Well I'll leave you to research |
arceem:Lol.. No its not |
agboedeh:Did you thoroughly read the thread? I doubt that though |
abbeg:In heirachy, the Caucasian Ovcharka is higher in terms of fierceness and guarding duty thing. Making them better guard dogs than the BMs and GSDs This is not a convecture but a proven fact! Thorough research will make them learn better. And experience too Cheers! |
