NOC1:
Will you please keep quiet, in Nigeria we go against the law openly and still blackmail government openly. Have you had discussions with friends building on Government properties before?

The will tell you I am not the only one, before government will come I have realized my money. Everybody that built in green areas, redlines, reserved areas etc are aware.

The one that will shake Lagos one-day is Festac phase 11 (Abulado) any day FG remembers that area, cries and heartbreak 💔 😢 tears will be much, it will look like Elrufai demolition in Abuja.

I know you will say their is no warning. I am aware for the past 7 years FG have been warning them.
Hi NOC1,

I wonder why they buy and build in these places when there are no proper documentation. About Abulado, both sides or the part near festac?

What’s the most complex print job you have ever done? Any photos?

Currently working on a drive shaft for this small but expensive choppers. Despite the cost of this appliance, I wonder why the company built the drive shaft with “thin” plastic, and they advertised this a meat mincer….lol

it's not that popular yet, I print architectural design models and parts for my car and bike, even toys for my boys
One would imagine a country with such a huge population and high unemployment, they’d exploring every opportunity to be self employed since the era of cheap technology and free web . It would not take much time or cost an arm to setup a print shop.

A cheap 3D printer is under $100 - the price of a Samsung phone.

I was in Alaba to a few months back to get a “used” 1hp pressure pump . They had so many pumps without plastic covers. I told the dude he could print these covers and sell not at a loss. He was lost … he’d never heard of 3D printer to print plastic .

How lucrative is this 3D printing industry in Nigeria? I mean considering the amount of automotive spares parts that are condemned just because of a worn out plastic part.

Don’t you think anyone with 3D design and printing skills will make a huge gain at ladipo spare parts market?

It sheared off when I was removing it from the build plate.

It was stuck to the plate and I tried using a pliers to remove since I usually apply glue on my plate before printing.

Will do another this evening so maybe tomorrow. Which part of Lagos are you at?
I’m a little curious about the shearing of the gear. It sheared into halves? Or a few parts broke off the print?

I reckon your ender3v2 has a heated glass plate, right? How about warming up the bed before removing the print

But I will print it with the present filament on my spool which is silver.

May I have your email add. I’d like to send you the stl file

There are some sellers on Jiji.
I imported mine and I am willing to sell to you.
I have five colours
Black - 2nr, fire engine red - 1nr, peak green - 1nr, silver - 1nr and white - 2nr.
Each roll is 1kg and came at a cost of ₦16,500.
How many do you need?
I will need a red one.

One more thing, is it possible I pay for a bundle and send a gear STL file to print with your Ender? Then I can send a rider to pick up both remainder bundle and the printed gear?

It’s a small gear with solid fill
Gear : 15mm Height /38mm diameter

Yes, wet filament will do that
But you can dry it in an oven
Some of my filament are already brittle… they snap sometimes when fed into the extruder.

Will a dehydrator oven cure these brittle filaments?

The stronger the filament used the better, ordinary PLA is the lightest PLA+ is stronger which is what I use for my printing, also increasing the number of wall line count (up, down and side) will improve the strength.
Increasing the fill density will also increase the strength.
But the best for your purpose will be a solid fill.
Do you source PLA+ locally? Any reliable seller?

There's a problem with this print it's not looking clean, maybe reason why it's not sturdy.
What print setting are you using?

I use PLA+ filament for my prints

Nice to hear from you.

These are old lay-around filaments that I found in the warehouse. I guess humidity has done them bad… so they “sputter” in hot extrusion.

We had a bunch cocoon model makers from Au that didn’t sell as planned.

Not many hobbyist in Nigeria, I suppose.

I got to know about 3d printing a couple of years back.
There was an old car that was no longer in production meaning I could not get the part new, I tried searching for the used part locally but was not lucky, the ones I saw online was cheap enough but fright was exorbitantly high because the part was big.
I looked at having it produced locally by a plastic factory but it didn't make sense for them to produce just one sample.
I researched making it myself using resins and fibre, bought some of the items I needed but got stuck along the way and had to abandon the idea.
I ended up repurposing a part from another car by cutting, meting and welding plastics.
During my search I stumbled on 3d printing got in touch with a guy here in Lagos but he told me it would be more expensive to 3d print the item. Went online saw videos and my interest was piqued!
Checked prices and they were affordable depending on what you needed them for. And you can print virtually anything on it but you must know how to work on a software where you can design and break down larger parts into smaller bits that the printer can handle.
And that friends was how I ordered and bought a 3D printer from China!

Below is a video of me unboxing it, and the model I got was the Ender 3

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4BSmdniCEf8
Are you working with Creality Ender3?

Recently ordered one because cocoon 3D printer does not give me many option on Cura slicer.

Working with PLA filament. Can the strength of the material hold up when a torque of 28NM is applied?

Do you think a solid fill when printing could improve the strength of the printed gear?
Nairaland GeneralRe: 3D Printing by owagbeba: 9:34pm On Apr 25, 2023
The strength of the printed gear not strong enough for the 28NM Torque products for the electrical motor in the appliance

The gear sheared after 5mins in the rotor system

CultureNational Holidays: None Celebrates Our Culture by owagbeba(op): 7:17am On Apr 21, 2023
I wonder why all our National holidays have nothing to do with a celebration of our culture and tradition? Looking at the list of our holidays in Nigeria, it’s obvious all are borrowed from western practices and from foreign religions. None what so ever reflects a celebration of our culture.

Why are we so much into borrowing others practices?

Can’t we fashion our systems of practice based on our culture?

Why must we borrow all our practices?

What exactly is wrong with the request?.

I think the anomaly here should be the leaking of a very private phone conversation.
Oyedepo never made secret his support for Peter Obi
Indeed a reasonable fellow you are. I think question should have been who recorded this conversation: DSS, Telcos. A government arm with access to Pegasus? Someone…a state’s structure with an ability to monitor targeted phone calls, recorded a private conversation between Obi and Bishop, hoping to use this as an ammunition against the LP campaigns.

It’s obvious the ruling party used all available state powers in attempt to secure victory.

PS: Nigeria is known to have bought both Pegasus from the Israelis and another monitoring hardware from Hongkong

It’s pretty difficult living in Nigeria and not deal with Nigerians. How have you been able to deal with the madness?

For me, it has gotten to a point that I can not deal with the market haggling any more. Price tags, please!

Hi Mr. Mogaji, a few questions for you,

Any reason why we are prone to being dubious in our dealings, despite decades of Christian teachings?

I perceive the Northern / Islamic folks to be more reliable than the southern Nigerians; just a conjecture. Any truth to this?

There are poorer countries whom their people are some of the nicest folks you can ever meet… Ethiopians, Nepalese,Rwandans. Is it tenable to attribute our duplicity to poverty?

Recently, I visited Muscat.. and I found the worst breeds of Nigerians dumped in one lot …. And the funniest part, they attend house Christian fellowship on sundays.. same dude you know to be scammer is praying to God for miracle… how did we get here?

I would appreciate your thought

Nigeria

But some of the countries people are quick to compare Nigeria with have more than 300-year headstart over Nigeria.

We have simply not set ourselves up to compete.

Makes me sweat when I think about all these things, as I desperately want the best for the tens of millions of struggling people who need and deserve better.
What 300 - year head start?

South Korea -colonized, military rule -was on the same par with Nigeria after a destructive war 1950 to 53. Now they surpass us in all indexes.
