When I said it here that Ukraine was the target and Putin's ridiculous dream of re-creating the old USSR was the driving force, some people called me names like brainwashed, etc. They said it was western propaganda. Now it's happening. When was the last time Putin even mentioned NATO and their missiles? Is the endgame not clear enough now? Was it not his spy chief that disclosed the entire plan right in front of Putin? When some of you support authoritarian leaders on the grounds of "America has done worse", I wonder the kind of logic y'all employ. I only pity the people of Ukraine, citizens and immigrants alike.

War of any kind is sad, be it in Ukraine, Syria, Yemen, etc.

Russian militarily operations in Ukraine were wholly avoidable if the USA had taken time to listen to Russian grievances and helped allay those worries.

Russian approach to this security problem had been multi-layered starting with a request for security guarantees that NATO would “NOT” setup base In Ukraine and maintain neutrality. Rather than address this issue, they(USA) huffed puffed with raised shoulders and threatened sanctions from hell.

Russia recognized Donetsk and Lugansk republics the same way the west recognized Kosovo. The west in their ego began to rain sanctions on Russia.

I think it was time for a whole new world order forged by fire. Russia has indeed had enough. She has called the western bluff and attacked first.

Sadly, Zelensky of Ukraine should have been wiser knowing that you don’t bring in an enemy to a family house.

It's very funny when I see the US mentioning the Minsk accord. The Minsk accord was signed by France, Germany, Ukraine, Russia and the rebellious regions. The us wasn't part of it. But recently they have been demanding that the Minsk accord be renegotiated inorder for them to also protect their own interests in it. The Minsk accord provided the roadmap for Ukraine to reconcile with the rebellious regions and take back full control of the areas. But the Ukrainian current government, refused to implement it with backing from the US. This regime banned the speaking of Russian in public and in the media space in Ukraine since 2014. About 40% of Ukrainians speak Russian as their first language. Some don't even know a word of Ukrainian. But these people are being systematically cut out of the Ukrainian society. Ukraine imposed a blockade against these people. You don't blockade people you want to remain with you. I earlier thought that zelensky would use this escalation to convince those who oppose the implementation of the Minsk accord that he has no choice if they want to regain control of the Donbass back, he must implement it. But he instead chose to play to American interests against Ukraine's own national unity interest

None in the western powers ever pressured Ukraine to fulfill the Minsk agreement rather the pressure was on Russia to fulfill Minsk. When they (west and Ukraine) finally figured out that the Minsk would not be in their favor, they wanted a change of this agreement.

This was a problem that Could been peacefully resolved if the western powers had nudged Ukraine abit to hold peace talks with Donbas rebels and reach an agreement. Instead of peace overtures, they supplied arms and trainers to Ukraine and waved “sanctions from hell” on Russia.

For how long will Russia keep sucking up to the western whims? For how long? The western Powers surround the periphery of Russia with nuclear arms but would raise hell if Russia set up base in Cuba or Venezuela.

The rule-based order literally means an order in the purest sense of the word- do as I say, not as I do! The western powers invoked R2P when they invaded Syria and occupied strategic oil wells and lands near Jordanian border. Nobody sanctioned them for this occupation. They bombed Libya to bits but no one sanctioned them.

For how long can the rest of the world put up with this madness!

You forgot to mention that Russia is playing the same card the Americans have always used to exert dominance in so many countries. It was done in Kosovo, Libya, etc. The western R2P strategy that’s the “right to protect.”

Russia’s non-invasion was latest CIA blunder – Czech president

Czech President Milos Zeman lashed out at the US intelligence community for their claim that Russia would invade Ukraine, which so far has failed to materialize. It adds to their track record of making wrong predictions about crucial events, he argued in an interview published by the newspaper MF DNES on Thursday.

“The first was in Iraq, where no weapons of mass destruction were found. The second was in Afghanistan, when they claimed that the Taliban would never conquer Kabul. And the third is now,” the president explained.

The politician was referring to the US justification for the 2003 invasion of Saddam Hussein’s Iraq and the assessment that the American-backed national government of Afghanistan would be able to defend against the militant Taliban movement after a scheduled withdrawal of foreign troops. On both counts American intelligence was seriously mistaken.

Washington has been warning for months that Russia was preparing a military invasion of Ukraine, and for weeks has been claiming that the attack was imminent. Some Western media went further and named Tuesday or Wednesday this week as the days Russia could have attacked Ukraine.

Ukraine’s President Volodymir Zelensky, who otherwise voiced skepticism about the purported Russian threat, made Wednesday a holiday celebrating Ukrainian national unity.

Russia denied having any aggressive plans for Ukraine since the accusations were first made public in November 2021.

The Czech president said he was informed about a pending Russian attack against Ukraine based on intelligence from the US, and that the tip proved to be wrong.

“I am not asking the CIA what sources of information it had. But based on the three cases I mentioned, I doubt the quality of these sources,” he said.

He predicted that there would be no Russian-Ukrainian war, arguing that Moscow didn’t have much to win and had a lot to lose, if one were to happen. Some sort of border conflict involving Ukraine’s breakaway region of Donbas may happen, but not a full-scale war, he believes.

He rejected the idea that Russia canceled its aggression due to deterrence mounted by the US and its allies, saying he saw such reasoning as a US attempt “to cover up the embarrassment” of being proven wrong again.

Meanwhile, US extending her sphere of influence wants to disrupt El-Salvador’s adoption of crypto currency to herself from the strangling hand of US federal reserve.

According to US Senators:

El Salvador’s adoption of the cryptocurrency “raises significant concerns about the economic stability and financial integrity” of the Central American country, and “has the potential to weaken US sanctions policy, empowering malign actors like China and organized criminal organizations,” argued Senator Risch.

Bukele followed up by posting a 10-second video of US President Joe Biden talking about sovereignty and freedom on Tuesday in a speech about Ukraine. “This includes El Salvador? Right?”

El Salvador is a sovereign country and not a colony of Washington, which has no right to meddle in its decision to adopt Bitcoin, President Nayib Bukele said on Wednesday in response to a bill proposed by several US senators alarmed at the prospect.

Don't be deceived by the West's pacifist posture my dear friend. The West quietly want war between the two adversaries. A war with Ukraine will afford the West the opportunity to study Russia's military weaknesses. It would also afford them the opportunity to test run their defence equipments ( many of which had been deployed to Ukraine) against Russia's assault. So, i feel this war will only reveal Russia's underbelly and knowing the way the West operate, they will use it against them in the future. No gain being a bully.

He said that many civil servants there knew how to run the bank, and that depriving the bank of the funds it needed to maintain price stability would lead to runs on commercial banks, mass defaulting on loans and ultimately broader disaster.
“You’re talking about moving toward a total collapse of the banking system,” he said. “I think it’s a shortsighted view.”

But an administration official familiar with the government deliberations argued that the “sad reality” was that even if the central bank regained access to the assets in New York and moved them all into Afghanistan for one last injection of capital, it would not solve the deeper structural problems that have sent the country’s economy spiraling into ruin.

The Afghan people shall just die from the 'structural problems' that have been caused by the U.S. occupation, its abrupt end, and are now caused by the theft of their money.

This is vengefulness at the most inhuman level:

Afghanistan is in dire need of those reserve funds.

As its central bank had no access to the funds it could not intervene when the Afghan currency devaluated after the U.S. and its minions had fled. It has made it impossible for the government and the people to acquire food from abroad. The United Nations and many other organization have warned that millions of people in Afghanistan are in imminent danger of dying for lack of food. A new huge wave of refugees is fleeing the country and is likely to destabilize its neighbors.

It was a bad move to freeze that money. It is unscrupulous to steal it. It also illegal under U.S. law which is why the Biden administration decided to fudge it:

It is highly unusual for the United States government to commandeer a foreign country’s assets on domestic soil. Officials are said to have discussed a two-part legal process for Mr. Biden to engineer that outcome.
First, he would use emergency powers under a provision of the International Emergency Economic Powers Act to “direct and compel” that a foreign country’s assets in the United States be moved to a segregated account. That would block them, but the Afghanistan central bank would still own them.

Second, officials have discussed then using a provision of the Federal Reserve Act that permits disposing of property belonging to the central bank of a foreign nation — so long as it has the blessing of someone the secretary of state has recognized as being “the accredited representative” of that foreign country.

But deciding who qualifies as such a person, at a time when Afghanistan’s former government no longer exists, has raised significant complications. It remained unclear what solution Biden administration officials had settled on and whether the name of any person or people they deem as such would be disclosed for security reasons, like possibly endangering family members still in Afghanistan.

When Cruelty Is The Point - U.S. Decides To Kill More Afghan People

Last summer, after decades of killing Afghans in Afghanistan, the U.S. government decides to move its occupation forces out of that country.

The operation was badly prepared, (or intentionally sabotaged by the Pentagon), and ended in chaos. More than 120,000 Afghans, most of them higher educated ones, were also taken abroad. This alone was severely damaging to Afghanistan.

The U.S. also froze the $7+ billion reserve funds of the central bank of Afghanistan which have been held in New York. This is the Afghan peoples money. Part of the total funds are reserves that private Afghan banks had deposited with the central bank. It is money that ordinary Afghan people had deposited at those private banks.

Now the Biden administration, ignoring the various owners of those funds, has decided to steal all of them.
